Comment on What do I Put on the Bottom of Raised Beds? by Jean Anne
Hi Jill, I’m enjoying reading your garden tips! I’m trying all raised beds this year… metal ones, 12” deep. How should I layer? Cardboard on bottom, sticks & twigs, fill dirt or garden soil? How deep? My magic top combo for topping off is compost & manure, humus, and peat moss. I tried a raised bed last year, but it settled so quickly, I didn’t have good results. Also… I was thinking I might try placing the raised beds on cinder blocks for extra elevation. Maybe I could use peg board on bottom for drainage? Would love your thoughts.
