Broad took 4-65 as Australia were bowled out for 279, with Khawaja top scoring and Lyon hobbling out to bat despite injury. After setting England 371 for victory, Starc and Cummins put on a clinic with the new ball, blowing away Crawley, Pope, Root and Brook.
There was a controversial moment late in the day, with Starc adjudged to have grounded a catch off Duckett.
