Ford’s  sales of high-margin SUVs, such as the Bronco and Expedition, along with solid sales of F-Series pickups fueled an earnings beat.  General Motors cut hundreds of jobs on Friday, just days after raising its profit guidance for the year.

According to Bloomberg Intelligence: Target's announced corporate head-count reductions can remove some cost from the business, but more importantly signals intent for a leaner, more focused strategy.
