Fighting in Hockey and Red Wings 3rd Jerseys (and Mascot?) - Aug. 13th, 2023
Just because it's the offseason doesn't mean we can't have an episode full of divisive opinions, so what better than hockey fights and Detroit Red Wings 3rd jerseys to rekindle the flame?
Tune in as we start by discussing the QMJHL's recent "ban" on fighting in the junior league, whether we agree on cutting down on fighting in development leagues, ramifications on player growth & development, links to CTE and concussions, & more. Additionally, we discuss whether the NHL should follow suit, how we feel about fighting's place in hockey, & everything in between (3:55).
Next, we discuss a recent fan survey that hints at some potential changes in Hockeytown. First, should the Detroit Red Wings have a mascot? We bring of the Al the Octopus days we grew up with & other ideas for the Winged Wheel brought to life (31:30) before taking on the jersey discussion. Would Detroit do well to bring back one of their Winter Classic jerseys, or should Yzerman's squad look forward to the future (keeping in line with this being Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond's team) and do something completely new?
