And that is often one of the most misunderstood aspects of traumatic brain injuries. Each year, an estimated 2.5 million people in the US alone experience a traumatic brain injury. But the actual incident level is unknown because so many of them are just not reported. And according to the CDC, there are currently 5.3 million people in the United States alone who suffer from the long-term impacts of traumatic brain injury.
