Comment on What do I Put on the Bottom of Raised Beds? by Nancy
Hi, I had a cousin build me three raised beds, tall so I don’t have to bend over, I’m 85 with back issues. The first year or two all was fine but this year several of the boards in one box has split and then boom the bottom fell out, dirt all over the ground. We have had a lot of rain this spring so I think the soil got so wet the board couldn’t hold the dirt, just too heavy. I’m unsure what to do when I have him build me a new box. I had put twigs and leaves etc in the bottom before I put the soil in. What kind of wood should we be using? Any other suggestions?
