Si affaccia all'interno e scopre così uno dei più gravi delitti mai compiuti all'interno della città del Vaticano: in un lago di sangue trova il corpo del neo comandante delle guardie svizzere Alois Estermann, di sua moglie Gladys Meza Romero e del vice caporale Cedric Tornay. Per questo orrendo delitto abbiamo una ricostruzione ed una verità ufficiali, ma ancora oggi in molti si domandano come siano andate davvero le cose. Pezzan e Brunoro ripercorrono passo dopo passo questa vicenda per cercare di capire se può esistere una verità alternativa a quella stabilita dai tribunali della Santa Sede, nel tentativo di districare uno dei casi più torbidi ed ingarbugliati della recente storia vaticana.
