#137: How Dare You Play Small! How to Take Your Power Back
The words "how dare you" have been running your life since childhood, and Hilary Silver wants you to steal them back.
That phrase usually started with a parent, a sibling comparison, or a cultural expectation that taught you to stay small. Here's the thing: nobody has to say it to you anymore. You're doing it to yourself every time you consider asking for more, resting without guilt, or taking up space you've already earned.
I call this playing defense against your own life. So let's flip the question. What if "how dare you" became "I dare you"? What would you actually say, wear, or ask for if you stopped editing yourself for everyone else's comfort? On this episode of Ready for Love, I'm sharing two moments from my own life where I chose daring over "acceptable," plus the mantra that gets me through hesitation to this day.
Daring isn't a trait you're born with. It's a decision you make over and over, until that old voice loses its grip.
Episode Highlights:
Where "how dare you" really comes from, and why it was never about you
The moment self-judgment turns into self-sabotage
The one-word flip that turns doubt into a challenge
