In this episode I sit down with podcaster, author, and MFT John Tsilimparis, to talk about one of the most universal and often misunderstood human experiences: grief. John's book The Magic in the Tragic: Rewriting the Script on Grief and Discovering Happiness in Our Darkest Days is a beautiful testament to the possibility of hope, healing, and even joy after loss. As someone who has walked through the heartbreak of losing my sister, my best friend, and my dad, this conversation felt deeply personal.

We talk about what it means to stop running from our pain and instead walk toward it with grace. John shares his own story of loss and how it shaped his path, leading him to a deeper understanding of what he calls grief empowerment, an invitation to not just survive but to grow through what breaks us. Together, we reflect on the nobility of suffering, the myth of closure, and how grounding ourselves in beauty through music, nature, art, and even signs from loved ones can transform the way we carry our sorrow.

This episode is not just about grief. It is about becoming a peaceful warrior. We talk about how anxiety distorts both our fears and our faith in ourselves, and how learning to coexist with discomfort can lead to unexpected transformation. You will hear practical, soul-soothing tools to help you sit with hard emotions, honor your story, and find inspiration in the midst of sorrow.

If you have ever felt overwhelmed by loss, stuck in avoidance, or unsure how to move forward, this conversation is a reminder that healing does not mean forgetting. It means learning to carry the pain with purpose and allowing even your darkest days to lead you toward light.

In this episode, I sit down with the radiant Madi Murphy, astrologer, author, and mom of two little ones, to explore what it truly means to live with purpose, alignment, and compassion for ourselves. Madi shares how embracing who we are, rather than who we think we should be, opens the door to real healing and joy.

Whether you are navigating relationships, major life changes, or a desire to better understand yourself, her insights offer a grounded and deeply affirming perspective.

Madi’s approach is heartfelt, approachable, and full of encouragement for anyone in the midst of transformation.

In this episode I sit down with Dr. Mary Donohue, a TEDx speaker, bestselling author, and CEO of the Digital Wellness Center, for a conversation that is both eye-opening and urgently needed. As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, I open up about my own journey through trauma and complex PTSD and why this mission is so personal to me. Together, we shine a light on the silent epidemic of digital addiction and the emotional toll our screen-filled lives are having on our minds, bodies, and relationships.

Dr. Donohue shares the terrifying moment her body gave out from the pressure to be perfect and how surviving a heart attack became her wake-up call. We dive into the danger of ignoring everyday stress, the spiral of WebMD searches, and what happens when you live for everyone else and forget yourself in the process. But we also explore something deeper—how faith, self-awareness, and even small shifts in how we live and love can bring us back to life.

We talk about the science behind digital stress, how our brains are not built for constant stimulation, and why even a few moments of mindful solitude can change everything. We reflect on how perfectionism and comparison culture are stealing joy from women and how healing often starts with grace, not guilt.

This is a call to action, a soul-level reminder that you are not broken and you are not alone. Whether you’re burned out, overwhelmed, or just looking for a sign to slow down and breathe again, this episode is for you. Let this be your invitation to pause, reconnect, and remember what truly matters.

This week I invite the amazing Lenore Skenazy—founder of the Free-Range Kids movement and president of Let Grow. You might know her as “America’s Worst Mom,” but today, you’ll discover the powerful truth behind that nickname and why her message is exactly what parents need right now.

Together, we unpack the deep anxiety so many of us carry: the fear, the pressure to be perfect, and the cultural obsession with control. We explore why it’s so hard to let go, especially when trauma or past experiences have wired us to hold on tighter. But we also shine a light on the freedom and growth that come when we begin to trust—our kids and ourselves.

This episode is more than just a discussion about parenting. It’s a gentle but powerful wake-up call to reconnect with the joy, creativity, and courage of childhood. It’s about loosening our grip, finding peace in uncertainty, and remembering that our kids are more capable than we think—and so are we.

If you've ever questioned whether you're doing enough, felt guilty for wanting a break, or cried as you watched your child take a big step without you, this conversation will remind you that you’re not alone, you’re doing better than you think, and sometimes, letting go is the bravest thing we can do.

This is a revisited episode that, unfortunately, remains deeply relevant today. The crisis of gun violence in schools continues, and stories like Mary Hollis Inboden’s are a vital reminder of why we must keep pushing for change.

Since the 90s, mass shootings have continued to rise in numbers. This year alone, as of April, there have been 179 mass shootings in the US—16 of which have been school shootings. Fear and anxiety have become the default for our children as we send them to school every day, knowing that their schools are not safe. Change needs to be made, and it’s so important that we continue to speak out on this pressing issue.

In this episode, I discuss the heartbreaking reality with a survivor of a school shooting that took place in 1998. Mary Hollis talks about her horrific experience at Westside Middle School when she was only 12. The aftermath of this shooting has traumatized her and her classmates to this day. Mary Hollis lost her best friend Paige on that day.

The sad fact is that I had never heard of this particular shooting. Columbine put school shooters on the map, and today it’s as if Americans are expected to forget each one and move on. But these people all have names, families, and friends that love and miss them. This episode is heavy, but I could not be more proud of Mary Hollis for sharing her story—hopefully, it will spark reflection and change.

As we approach Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m honored to sit down with Dr. Paul Corona—a trailblazing physician, author, and fierce advocate for mental wellness—whose mission is to transform how we understand and treat mental health. With over 30 years of experience bridging psychiatry and family medicine, Dr. Corona shares his remarkable journey, from being nicknamed “Dr. Paul” as a five-year-old with a toy medical kit to becoming a leading voice in integrative mental health care. He brings to light the vital connection between our minds and bodies, and why true healing must treat both. His newest book, The Corona Protocol, offers a bold, scientifically grounded approach to tackling some of society’s most pressing issues, including addiction, bullying, homelessness, school shootings, and suicide.

We talk candidly about the science behind emotional struggles and why mental illness is not a matter of willpower. Dr. Corona explains how trauma, hormones, and genetics shape brain chemistry, and why it’s time to let go of outdated fears around medication. We also have a raw and emotional conversation about losing a child to suicide—and what we must do better as a society to support one another before it’s too late.

This episode also explores the impact of technology and the mental health aftermath of the pandemic on today’s youth. Dr. Corona offers insight for parents navigating anxiety, depression, and ADHD in their children, while highlighting how healing can be affordable, accessible, and rooted in listening and compassion.

Whether you’ve felt overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to help someone you love, this conversation will open your eyes and remind you of what’s possible. You are not alone. There is help. There is healing. And there is always hope.

Tune in to be inspired and reminded that healing begins when we dare to have these conversations—and when we remember that everyone is worthy of care, understanding, and light.

Trigger warning: This episode discusses suicide, depression, and grief—please listen with care.

In this deeply emotional episode, I'm sharing the space with a remarkable guest: Betsy Thibaut Stephens. Betsy is a mother, writer, and survivor of unthinkable loss. Her son, Charlie, was a bright, compassionate, easygoing 21-year-old who quietly battled depression—a struggle that ended in tragedy. In her beautifully written book, Blackbird: A Mother’s Reflections on Grief, Loss, and Life After Suicide, Betsy invites us into her journey of remembrance, heartbreak, and ultimately, healing.

Together, we talk about the raw truth of losing someone who masked their pain behind a smile, the relentless “what ifs,” and the impossible decision to keep living in the aftermath. She shares the quiet bravery of mothering through sorrow—flying across the country to hold Charlie while he cried, learning to speak his name out loud after his passing, and finding purpose through the pain.

This episode is for anyone navigating grief, loving someone through their darkness, or trying to understand the invisible weight so many carry. Betsy’s vulnerability is a lifeline. Her story reminds us that depression doesn’t always look like hopelessness—and that healing isn’t about forgetting, but about remembering with intention.

We cry. We reflect. We say their names. And in doing so, we offer a powerful reminder: you are not alone. Your grief matters. Your love still has a voice. And even on the hardest days, there is still a path forward.

Blackbird is available everywhere books are sold starting April 8th. Please share this episode with someone who needs to know they are seen and never alone.

Imagine dedicating your life to protecting nature—only to have it ripped away without warning. That’s exactly what happened to today’s guest, Ben Vizzachero, a passionate wildlife biologist employed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) who lost his job in a wave of illegal firings. Despite years of dedication, hard work, promotions, and praise, Ben’s career came to an abrupt halt.

In this eye-opening episode, Ben opens up about his journey of resilience. From following his childhood dream of working in wildlife conservation with the Los Padres National Forest to having that dream crushed by an impersonal termination email, his story is one of both devastation and strength. But this isn’t just about one job. It’s about mass layoffs, political recklessness, and the devastating mental and financial toll of being cast aside by a broken system.

We dive deep into the real cost of these injustices: the fight to reclaim identity and purpose and the bureaucratic nightmare of standing up against corruption. But through it all, there’s hope. Ben’s story serves as a reminder that when the system fails us, we still have a choice—to fight back, to demand accountability, and to stand on the right side of history.

If you’ve ever felt powerless in the face of injustice, this conversation will ignite something in you. It’s time to listen, learn, and take action.

In this episode I sit down with psychotherapist and author Katherine Fabrizio, an expert in helping empathic daughters navigate complicated relationships with their mothers. We dive into the patterns of The Good Daughter Syndrome, explore how childhood dynamics shape our adult lives, and discuss the first steps toward healing.

Mother-daughter relationships can be deeply complex, influenced by generational patterns, unspoken expectations, and ingrained behaviors. Whether you've struggled with a high-conflict relationship, faced narcissistic tendencies, or simply felt the weight of always trying to be “good enough,” this conversation will resonate. We explore the delicate balance of guiding our own children while allowing them to grow, the power of repair in parenting, and why self-awareness is key to breaking the cycle.

If you've ever felt trapped in the role of the “good daughter,” constantly seeking approval while losing sight of your own needs, this episode is for you. It’s never too late to reclaim your voice, set boundaries, and start living life on your own terms.

Trigger warning: The following episode may be triggering including topics of depression and suicide.

This deeply moving and powerful episode, is a revisited episode where I sit down with a mother who has endured the unimaginable—the loss of her son. Through raw honesty, she shares her journey through grief, the silent struggles so many face, and how she has turned her pain into a mission to raise awareness, save lives, and break the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction.

We open up about the hidden battles of depression, the pressure to appear "okay," and the devastating impact of fentanyl and suicide on families everywhere. I also share my own experience with complex PTSD and suicidal ideation, shedding light on the reality behind the masks we often wear.

This conversation is a call to action—a reminder that healing is possible, that no one should have to suffer in silence, and that there is always hope. If you or someone you love is struggling, please know: you are not alone. There is help. There is hope. Keep holding on.

If this episode resonates with you, please share it. You never know whose life it might save.

In this episode I’m joined by my childhood and high school friend, Paul Caulfield—an attorney, Fordham professor, and fellow podcaster. We reminisce about our DC roots, the twists and turns of life, and how friendships can find their way back even after years apart. Paul shares his journey from teaching grade school to practicing law, living in Latin America, and launching his podcast, Opinions My Own: Risk, Fintech, and the Law. Along the way, we discuss the eerie accuracy of digital tracking, and how technology is shaping the way we connect.

That leads us into an even deeper conversation about AI-generated voices and digital companions. Imagine an AI so real it can form—and manipulate—emotional connections. We break down the risks of AI-driven interactions, the growing disconnect in human relationships, and how at-risk individuals can be impacted when these technologies fall into the wrong hands. How do we protect ourselves and our loved ones from the potential dangers of AI and social media while still embracing their benefits?

This episode is a fascinating mix of nostalgia, laughter, and critical discussions about the digital world we live in. Tune in now for a conversation that will make you rethink technology, connection, and the power of human relationships.

Happy New Year, everyone! As we step into 2025, I wanted to start things off by revisiting a powerful conversation I had with Dr. Ken Druck.

In this special episode, I’m joined by Dr. Ken Druck, a Ph.D. and renowned grief expert, for a heartfelt discussion about navigating life’s inevitable "what now" moments—those times when everything changes, and we're left searching for direction.

Whether we’re facing personal challenges or grappling with the larger uncertainties of today’s world, Dr. Ken offers a compassionate perspective on how to transform even the most difficult moments into opportunities for growth and healing. He dives into the importance of finding common ground, cultivating empathy, and building connections across divides—even when faced with opposing viewpoints.

Dr. Ken shares profound insights into the struggles parents face in today’s ever-changing world, highlighting key themes like self-compassion, patience, and humility as essential tools for navigating loss and uncertainty.

This conversation is a testament to the enduring nature of love, the courage to keep going, and the possibility of rediscovering moments of joy amidst profound loss. Dr. Ken’s wisdom reminds us that while grief is universal, so too is the potential for healing and hope.

I’m joined by Angela Kennecke, an award-winning broadcast journalist and the founder of Emily’s Hope, a charity born from a heartbreaking personal tragedy. Angela’s unwavering dedication to honoring her daughter’s memory has transformed her grief into a mission to combat the opioid crisis and prevent senseless loss.

Together, we explore the devastating impact of addiction, the profound importance of compassion in times of grief, and the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Angela shares her journey of turning pain into purpose, shedding light on the urgent need for prevention and support for those impacted by addiction.

This episode goes beyond Angela’s story to examine addiction as a societal issue, inspiring action and awareness. It’s a powerful testament to the enduring strength of love, hope, and the drive to create change in the face of unimaginable loss.

In this episode I  welcome Cody Hufstedler, a palliative care chaplain and host of ‘Dying to Tell You’, for a deeply insightful discussion on life, loss, and finding meaning at the end. We talk about the complex themes of loss, grief, and the remarkable transformations that often emerge in life’s closing chapters.

Cody’s journey into chaplaincy is nothing short of transformative. Initially hesitant, he embarked on a rigorous path of self-reflection and faith, answering a call to provide solace to those facing life’s end. He describes the intense challenges and rewards of hospital chaplaincy, where he learned to hold space for others during times of profound sorrow and vulnerability. The path was not only one of serving others but also a deeply personal journey into understanding the power of presence, empathy, and self-discovery. In this episode I'm Joined by a special guest, Dr. Anders Hansen, a psychiatrist and best selling author from Stockholm. Together, we explore the surprising science behind loneliness, mental health, and how our brains are wired for survival. You’ll learn how isolation not only impacts emotional well-being but also worsens physical health, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. And how simple connections—like a brief phone call—can dramatically reduce feelings of loneliness and improve life expectancy.

Dr Hansen and I also tackle the challenges of modern life, from the dangers of social media comparison to the impact of screen time on youth mental health. As well as get into the importance of movement and exercise, revealing how regular physical activity can be as effective as medication for treating mild to moderate depression, while emphasizing the need for professional help in severe cases.

This episode is a reminder that we are not broken. By reframing mental health, embracing support, and taking even small steps like connecting with others or moving our bodies, we can reclaim control of our lives. Tune in for an eye-opening discussion filled with compassion, hope, and practical strategies for navigating the complexities of mental wellness.

Known for her groundbreaking work in trauma bonding and complex PTSD, Dr. Nadine opens up about her personal journey from being the ex-wife of the infamous “Wolf of Wall Street” to becoming a leading therapist and author. Beyond the drama and glitz, this episode uncovers the deeply personal experiences of overcoming trauma, reclaiming personal power, and the road to recovery after leaving a controlling relationship.

This episode is a full-circle moment, celebrating resilience, hope, and the power of never giving up. In this episode I’m joined by Dr. Rick Diamond, an expert in the intersection of storytelling and healing, We explore our journeys from being deeply involved in organized religion to embracing a more personal and fluid spiritual path. Rick and I share how our experiences have taught us that spirituality isn't confined to a particular place or organization but is found within ourselves.

Rick recounts his own transition from leading a faith community to becoming a spiritual and story healer. He explains how he discovered that true spiritual fulfillment comes from within, through listening to our own stories and beliefs and making necessary changes. We discuss how this realization led him to create a model to help others explore and reshape their own narratives.

We emphasize that it’s okay to feel anger and that acknowledging and working through these feelings is crucial for personal growth. Rick offers practical advice on reclaiming one’s power and shifting focus from past hurts to creating a new, empowering story.

We also touch on the broader issue of anger and division in today’s world, particularly in politics. We discuss the importance of accepting suffering as a part of life and approaching it with compassion, rather than letting it drive us further apart.

Throughout the episode, Rick and I invite you to explore your own stories and beliefs, and we provide support and resources for those interested in furthering their personal and spiritual journeys.

In this episode, I’m joined by Maria Pendolino, a successful voiceover artist and passionate advocate for disability and fat liberation. Together, we explore the transformative journey of breaking free from labels and societal expectations—whether it’s the roles we inherit from our families or the body standards we’re pressured to conform to. Maria's story is one of resilience, overcoming the challenges of psoriatic arthritis, and defying industry barriers during the pandemic to build a thriving career.

We also get into the deep-seated effects of fatphobia, childhood bullying, and the harmful messaging around body size and health. I share my personal struggles with bulimia and body image, while Maria talks about her journey towards self-acceptance, embracing the power of fat liberation, and advocating for underrepresented voices in media.

This episode is an empowering reminder that our worth isn’t defined by our achievements or appearances, but by our strength, authenticity, and the love we show ourselves. In this episode, I’m joined by the inspiring Ron Hunter, a survivor of childhood trauma and the author of ‘Angel Finally Found His Wings’. Together, we dive deep into a profoundly emotional exploration of survival, resilience, and the extraordinary courage it takes to confront the past. Ron shares his incredible journey, one that began with a childhood marked by unthinkable pain—abuse, poverty, and time spent in an orphanage. Despite the overwhelming darkness that defined his early years, Ron discovered that even in the bleakest moments, there can be pockets of light. He found solace in the compassion of strangers, moments of unexpected kindness that served as lifelines. These experiences, although small, shaped his path forward, allowing him to heal, grow, and ultimately become a powerful voice for those who have suffered in silence.

Through our conversation, we reflect on the transformative power of community and the role that love, faith, and kindness play in healing even the deepest wounds. Ron's story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the belief that, no matter how broken we may feel, there is always hope. As he opens up about his struggles, he illustrates how, in the midst of unimaginable suffering, the smallest acts of kindness—from a mentor, a counselor, or even a stranger—can offer a glimmer of hope. These seemingly minor gestures become the very things that keep us going, the light that guides us out of the darkness. Ron’s journey highlights the idea that “it takes a village” and that even in life’s most difficult moments, we are never truly alone. When people come together, offering support and love, they help shape a brighter future not just for individuals but for entire communities.

This episode is more than just a story of overcoming trauma—it’s a powerful reminder that we each have the ability to make a difference in someone else’s life. Whether by offering a listening ear, providing a sense of safety, or simply being there when someone needs us most, we all have the capacity to be a source of light for others. Ron’s journey of survival, healing, and ultimately, redemption, is an inspiring testament to the enduring power of love and kindness. It reminds us that even when life’s storms seem impossible to weather, we have within us the power to not only survive but to thrive. Through faith, vulnerability, and the support of others, we can find our way back to the light, embracing the hope that is always there, waiting to guide us forward.

In this episode of Judging Meghan, I’m joined by Banning Lyon, a trauma survivor, author, and backpacking guide. Banning shares his harrowing journey through a turbulent childhood filled with trauma, abuse, and unimaginable hardships, ultimately finding his way to recovery and thriving.

Banning's story is one of resilience and hope, as he recounts his experiences growing up in California, moving to Texas, and navigating the complex landscape of his youth.
