Ross Porter pays his first visit to the “Fifth Hour with Ben Maller, and Danny G Radio.” Ross spent 28 glorious seasons working alongside Vin Scully calling Los Angeles Dodgers games on radio and television. We do a deep dive into his spectacular career behind the microphones that started in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the tender age of 14. Ross has seen and done it all, he worked at NBC in LA with TV legends Tom Brokaw and Tom Snyder, covered Super Bowl I, called regional NFL games, and UNLV basketball during the Jerry Tarkanian glory days and so much more. It’s a resume that landed Porter a spot in the Southern California Broadcasters Hall of Fame. In fact, Jason argues that the Steph Curry-led Warriors are already the greatest dynasty the NBA has seen in over 50 years. Yes, even better than the Showtime Lakers and Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls. Later, the guys discuss what's gone wrong for Luka and the Mavs in this series, and explain why neither of them believes Doncic is going to win a championship in Dallas any time soon. Both agree that the only way the Mavericks will be able to get over the hump is if they can land a superstar sidekick to take some of the pressure off Luka. Only one problem: Who can they get that fits the bill? Julius Randle? Bradley Beal? Zach LaVine? This summer should be really interesting in Dallas. While some might call two of the most high-profile coaches in the sport trading barbs through the media a black eye of sorts, the guys argue that this is actually a good thing for college football as there hasn't been this much offseason buzz around the sport in years. As far as Saban is concerned, however, it's clear that he feels as though his perch atop the college football mountaintop is being threatened by guys like Fisher. Now that school 'benefit packages' are being made public and supporters can give recruits as much as they want, Saban has come to the realization that more top prospects will choose to go elsewhere. Can the Crimson Tide dynasty continue if Saban doesn't have the most talented roster year-in and year-out? Only time will tell. Later, Jason shares a quick thought on the Boston Celtics' blowout victory over the Miami Heat to tie the series 1-1. Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart were brilliant for Boston, but the bigger takeaway has to be just how boring the last week of NBA Playoff basketball has been; We've seen two Game 7s and two Conference Finals games and none of them have been remotely competitive heading into the fourth quarter. Let's hope all that changes as we head into the weekend.

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off by throwing verbal haymakers at Joel Embiid, James Harden, Doc Rivers and the Philadelphia 76ers following their season-ending loss to the Miami Heat. This is the second consecutive season where Embiid has come up very small in the final game of the season; the Embiid love affair has to end. Harden's disappointing play, on the other hand, is pretty much expected these days. He's never been good in big moments, so the fact that The Beard didn't score a point in the second half shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Not to be outdone, head coach Doc Rivers actually fabricated a narrative about unrealistic expectations in Philadelphia. Seriously. These three really deserve each other. Moving over to the Western Conference, Luka Doncic added to his legend with yet another virtuoso performance in an elimination game. Luka has already established himself as arguably the best player in the NBA, the only question now becomes: Can he finish the job in Game 7? Later, The Ringer editor-at-large Bryan Curtis swings by to discuss how the internet and social media has fundamentally changed the way we consume news, athletes like Kyrie Irving using social media instead of new media to get their messages out, NBA Playoffs ratings and the idea that basketball fans have LeBron James ‘fatigue’, how sports journalism has evolved into public relations in certain aspects, and much more!

On today's episode, Jason opens things up with a few thoughts on how the Dallas Mavericks were able to even their series at 2-2 against the Phoenix Suns. Aside from the schematic adjustments, the biggest change over the last two games has been the disappointing play of Chris Paul; Since the series shifted to Dallas, CP3 has been absolutely brutal on the court. Things even boiled over off the court as Paul's mother and wife were allegedly shoved by unruly Mavs fans late in the game. Unfortunately, fans behaving badly has become rather commonplace in NBA arenas the past few years, and Producer Rob G says the rise of social media and the mob mentality has played a big role in it. Later, our fearless leader does a deep dive into the Philadelphia 76ers' Game 4 win over Miami Heat. James Harden was fantastic for Philly, but Jimmy Butler put on a quite a show himself for Miami. Butler didn't get much help from his supporting cast in Game 4, and given how much money they have tied up into Kyle Lowry and Duncan Robinson, would it be all that shocking if he decided to leave the Heat this summer in search of a squad with more high-end talent? Just throwing it out there. Finally, the guys close the show by discussing why they're both expecting the Golden State Warriors to roll over the Ja Morant-less Memphis Grizzlies in Monday's Game 4. In fact, given how vulnerable Phoenix has looked the last two games, don't be surprised to see the Warriors pegged as the favorites to come out of the Western Conference this year.
