There’s a good chance you’re familiar with Aya Cash courtesy of her work on the hit TV series You’re the Worst and The Boys, but initially her focus was on theater. Cash’s pivot to the screen proved to be a journey filled with experiences that illuminated how she’d find the most joy in her work and also what she’d strive for as a leader on set to best support others. With her new movie We Broke Up in theaters now and set to hit VOD on April 23rd, Cash took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to look back on the steps she took that paved the way to her many recent accomplishments.

It feels like Margaret Cho’s done just about everything in the entertainment industry. She’s a Grammy nominee for her comedy work, an Emmy nominee for her performance on 30 Rock, she’s part of the voice cast of the Academy Award-nominated animated feature Over the Moon, and she’s been a contestant on two of the hottest reality TV shows out there - The Masked Singer and Dancing with the Stars. Suffice it to say, we had a lot to cover on Collider Ladies Night as we paved the way to her latest release, the FX documentary Hysterical.

The Andrea Nevins-directed documentary puts the spotlight on the women making waves and making a difference in the comedy scene. Talk about a meteoric rise in the Hollywood! Naomi Scott’s star power went through the roof when she was cast in the 2017 Power Rangers movie and since, she’s starred alongside Kristen Stewart in the Charlie’s Angels remake and became a Disney princess courtesy of the live-action Aladdin. That’s already a lot to discuss right there, but there is so much more to Scott’s experience in the industry thus far and it all contributes to continuing to prove her promise in the business and her passion for her craft while also highlighting that she’s just a downright lovely individual to have an hourlong chat with!

Scott joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night in honor of the release of her brand new podcast/audio series Soft Voice. Scott leads as Lydia, an all-star estate agent who seems to have it all - a thriving career, a barrister boyfriend and then some. Lydia attributes much of her success to the voice in her head, Soft Voice, played by Bel Powley. One day, Soft Voice vanishes and is replaced by Dark Voice (Olivia Cooke) who’s absolutely had it with the rigid, straight and narrow lifestyle Soft Voice created.

With Victoria Justice’s new movie Trust now available to watch in select theaters and on PVOD, she took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit some of the most pivotal moments of her career and break down how they paved the way to her latest project.

Lily Rabe’s star power skyrocketed when American Horror Story turned into an epic phenomenon on launch back in 2011. She continues to excel in that series, but has also been quite busy adding more titles to her resume with the most recent additions being HBO’s The Undoing and the Amazon’s latest, Tell Me Your Secrets.

Rabe headlines the show playing Karen Miller, a woman who’s arrested with her boyfriend Kit (Xavier Samuel) for the role she played in the murders he committed. At the start of the series, she’s out of jail and part of the Witness Protection Program, assuming the name Emma Hall. While trying to lay low and steer clear of trouble, Emma is also challenged to figure out what really happened to one of Kit’s victims, an incident she claims she can’t remember.

Whether you’ve seen all of AHS, The Undoing and Tell Me Your Secrets or just a single credit on Rabe’s resume, I’m willing to bet you already know she’s often a standout in whatever show she’s in. Mark my words; Dominique Fishback is going to be a household name very, very soon. (And if I had any say in Oscar nominations, it’d be happening one month from now.) Fishback stars in Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah as Deborah Johnson (now Akua Njeri), a young woman who’s taken by Fred Hampton’s (Daniel Kaluuya) ideology and goals, and also sparks a connection to Chairman Fred on a personal level. While Judas and the Black Messiah well highlights the scope of Chairman Fred’s influence and the great value of his dedication to the movement, it’s through the intimacy of his relationship with Deborah that the film also successfully conveys the personal stakes involved in this fight for freedom.

Ever since chatting with Fishback and a few other members of The Hate U Give ensemble back in 2018, I’ve been eager for a long form conversation with the rising star about her commitment to her craft, and now that Judas and the Black Messiah is available to watch on HBO Max, that time has finally come. As much as I enjoy discussing current success on Collider Ladies Night - especially when it’s a standout new series like WandaVision - I find that one of the most exciting components of the conversation is the part that focuses on someone’s experience breaking into the industry and the earliest stages of honing their craft, because every path is different. I’m especially excited about this new edition of Collider Ladies Night for a number of reasons. First off, I’m obsessed with the new Amazon series The Wilds. It debuted on Prime Video in early December and follows a group of young woman stranded on a deserted island. Not only is there a fascinating mystery at play, but the show also features a downright stellar ensemble including our Ladies Night guest, Mia Healey. So yes, I was beyond thrilled to talk about a show I fell so hard for with Healey, but the other exciting thing about this conversation is that it marks the very first episode of Collider Ladies Night that puts the spotlight on someone getting their first screen credit.

If you haven’t already, now’s the time to get to know Ariana DeBose. Admittedly, I had a good deal to learn about all of her Broadway accomplishments on this edition of Collider Ladies Night because my mind is in the movie and TV bubble 24/7. Not only was it a thrill to dig into DeBose’s step-by-step journey to scoring a Tony nomination simply because it’s wonderful to hear about a hardworking and passionate person finding success, but also because it teases what she’s bringing to her on-screen work with films like The Prom, which is out now on Netflix, and with Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story due in theaters in 2021. I’m truly utterly delighted by every single episode of Collider Ladies Night that I’m lucky enough to do, but Alison Brie has to get some sort of bonus points for the downright adorable cat cameos and ranking the Scream movies with me. And to think, that only covered a small fraction of our chat!

Brie’s accomplished quite a bit since making her TV debut in Hannah Montana back in 2006, enjoying many seasons with Community and Mad Men, scoring two Screen Actors Guild nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her work on Netflix’s GLOW, and appearing in a slew of stellar films, personal favorites being Scream 4, The Kings of Summer and now Hulu’s Happiest Season, just to name a few. She truly never slowed down since the moment she started and that was by design.

You won’t have to get too far into this new installment of Collider Ladies Night to learn that Sarah Paulson is one of my absolute favorite individuals in the industry. I’m a diehard American Horror Story fan and marvel at her on-screen work across the board, but over the years, I’ve also come to deeply appreciate how her passion, honesty and attention to detail shines through in all of our interviews.

At this point, Paulson has six Emmy nominations to her name and one win for her performance as Marcia Clark in American Crime Story, she’s directed an episode of American Horror Story, is an executive producer on Ratched, just got a long overdue lead role in a studio feature with Run, and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down whatsoever. But, of course, it all had to being somewhere and during our Ladies Night conversation, Paulson credited Law & Order’s Ed Sherin with giving her career the jumpstart it needed.

From the early audition that proved to Kate Mara's mother that she had what it takes to become an actor to scoring a role in Brokeback Mountain, working with Ridley Scott on The Martian and then some, we’re covering as much of it as possible on Collider Ladies Night in honor of Mara’s latest release, A Teacher.

Mara leads the FX series as Claire Wilson, a teacher starting a new job at a high school in Texas. While her home life with her husband Matt (Ashley Zukerman) isn’t perfect and Claire struggles with strained relationship with her family, this new gig is off to a promising start and offers hope. However, when Claire begins tutoring one of the students (Nick Robinson) on the side, lines are crossed with Claire leaving irreparable damage in her wake.

Not only does the show mark some of Mara’s best work yet, but it’s also her first time serving as an executive producer on a series. Whether it’s gaining experience as a producer or using her knowhow and voice to advocate for stellar talent, like suggesting Gabriela Cowperthwaite to direct Megan Leavey, Mara is clearly making moves to not just wow crowds in front of the lens, but also to create successful working environments behind them, making her an ideal guest for Collider Ladies Night.

Breaking Bad alone shows off Betsy Brandt’s significant range. Marie Schrader added loads of much needed comic relief, but also afforded Brandt the opportunity to excel during some of the show’s darker beats, even making the most of a single reaction shot in the Emmy winning episode, “Ozymandias.” Want even more proof that Brandt can do just about anything? Give her filmography a quick glance beyond Breaking Bad. That line-up includes sitcoms like Life in Pieces and The Michael J. Fox Show, a powerhouse dramatic turn in Claire in Motion, and even film appearances where she contributes by making a single scene unforgettable like in Magic Mike. Hope you're ready for even more proof of Brandt’s range because her Soulmates character experiences quite the arc in the final episode of the season, “The (Power) Ballad of Caitlin Jones.”

Brandt leads as the title character, Caitlin, a woman trapped in a loveless relationship with a guy who walks all over her. In an effort to find “the one,” Caitlin turns to the show’s futuristic dating technology, Soul Connex, a test that pinpoints one’s soulmate with 100% accuracy. That test matches Caitlin with JJ Feild's Nathan, a too-good-to-be-true type who, of course, has a dark side.

Marsha Stephanie Blake has accomplished quite a bit over the years. She’s got a significant number of stage productions to her name, she’s worked with an incredible line-up of directors including Ava DuVernay and Steven Soderbergh, and she also scored an Emmy nomination for her performance in Now They See Us. Even with all of those accomplishments and all of that experience under her belt, was she prepared to shoot an episode of television all on her own? Somewhat!

Social Distance is a new Netflix anthology series shot entirely in lockdown. Each episode features a different group of characters and shows how the COVID-19 pandemic rattled their day-to-day. In Blake’s episode, “And we could all together/Go out on the ocean,” Danielle Brooks plays Imani, a caregiver who continues to look after her client during the pandemic while also trying to care for her young daughter back at home. Meanwhile, her client’s daughter, Marion (Blake), is busy trying to juggle calls from Imani and adjust to teaching her college courses over Zoom.

When you look at what Victoria Pedretti managed to accomplish in just three years, hopes for what she’ll achieve in the years to come are through the roof. Pedretti burst onto the scene in a big way with the release of The Haunting of Hill House back in 2018. After that, she joined another red hot Netflix series, playing Love on Season 2 of You. On top of that, she starred opposite Dylan O’Brien in an episode of Amazing Stories and now she’s back on Netflix with yet another stellar show, the sequel season to Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor.

This time around, Pedretti plays Dani Clayton, a young woman who leaves home to spend some time in the UK where she’s hired to be the au pair for two young children who recently lost their parents. Those kids live on the Bly estate, a place with quite the history and the potential to change the lives of everyone on the property.
