My guest today is Wendy Liu. She is a YouTube sensation on the do it yourself clothing scene, with videos ranging from the supplies you need to get started, all the way to thrift flips and viral dresses.

She's kind of a dress queen, actually. She made her own wedding dress. She pounces on do it yourself projects that people are desperately trying to figure out on their own at home, like how to resize your jeans and making a dress from only scraps. She has such great playlists like Wendy Tries Everything, Self Care, Travel, and recently she even did a video on Pounding Flowers.

Her YouTube channel is called WithWendy, and she is approaching A million and a half followers. It's a whole bunch of really original content.

She has the honour of serving as board member of the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Scholar in Residence at the Visions Art Museum in San Diego, and Bybee Scholar at the Texas Quilt Museum and Bybee Foundation.

In her fifth book, she co-authored Stitching Stolen Lives, the Social Justice Sewing Academy of Remembrance Project with Sarah Trail.

Karen King loves the modern quilt aesthetic and has a particular fondness for foundation paper piecing. She has had quilts juried into Quilt Con 2022 and 2023, the largest annual show of modern quilts in the world.

Her studio has grown to include a long arm machine and two resident feline supervisors, plus occasional foster kittens. Just for fun, Karen's favorite color is all of them, but she admits to a smaller stash of yellow, which I couldn't believe when I read that because my favorite colour is yellow. But cooking and music, especially from the band U2, and travel everywhere, especially if U2 is playing there, are also a big part of her life. Beyond quilting, Karen enjoys sharing her knowledge and expertise with a number of different organizations on a volunteer basis. Currently she serves on the board of the Modern Quilt Guild, the Calgary Folk Festival, and the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew.
