For one last time at the 2026 US Open, Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts convene to discuss Alexander Zverev’s victory over Ben Shelton in the men’s final. 

We start by analysing the match, including Zverev’s excellent management of the occasion and perfect tactics, as well as Shelton’s slow start and poor execution in key moments. There’s also chat about Zverev’s ball bouncing, whether we expected more from Shelton, and the bizarre moment where Zverev didn’t even realise he’d won.

Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts react to another day of US Open action, headlined by Elena Rybakina winning the match she needed to guarantee that she will be the new women’s world number one on Monday. 

Part one - We cover two more compelling women’s quarter-finals as Rybakina beat Zheng Qinwen and Coco Gauff saved a couple of match points to defeat Mirra Andreeva. In what way does Rybakina becoming world number one signal a new era for the WTA? Will this run be a catalyst for Zheng? What happened to Gauff’s serve and forehand in the first two sets of her quarter-final? And how did she still manage to win the match?

David Law and Matt Roberts are on site at the US Open to react to a quite extraordinary day of action which finished with Ben Shelton defeating Carlos Alcaraz in a deciding set tiebreak at 3:33am, guaranteeing an American’s men’s finalist on Sunday. 

Part one - We discuss the story of Shelton’s crazy win over Alcaraz, the reasons why Alcaraz for once came up short in one of these epic matches, and why it was the best tennis we’ve ever seen Shelton play. Shelton will face fellow American Frances Tiafoe in the semi-finals after he won his own deciding set tiebreak over Alex Michelsen. Did Michelsen choke when he served for the match? How did Tiafoe turn it around? And what made the hug they shared at the end so beautiful? 

Part two (35:07) - We discuss why Aryna Sabalenka’s victory over Linda Noskova - also in a final set tiebreak - could be exactly what she needed to find herself again and go on to win the title. In the semi-finals she will face Jessica Pegula after she came from a set down to beat Emma Navarro. We analyse that nervy match and discuss whether Pegula has it in her to topple Sabalenka.

It was a strong day for the American men at Flushing Meadows as Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton and Alex Michelsen all booked their spots in the quarter-finals, but the performance of the day came from Carlos Alcaraz. Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts discuss it all.

Part one - We start by analysing Alcaraz’s win over Tommy Paul which saw him produce a phenomenal level. Does Alzaraz’s form mean that David has changed his mind about what will happen when Alcaraz faces Shelton? We preview that match and discuss what, if anything, Shelton will have to do to win. There’s also discussion of Tiafoe’s amazing victory over Daniil Medvedev and the incredible scenes on the Louis Armstrong Stadium as Tiafoe maintained his 100% record on that court.

Part two (37:21) - We discuss Aryna Sabalenka’s straight-sets win over Taylor Townsend. Why was the match a bit disappointing? Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts react to a dramatic day at the US Open which was headlined by tough results for some American players. 

Part one - Day session. Labour Day weekend began in difficult fashion for the hosts as Amanda Anisimova lost to Anastasia Potapova, Taylor Fritz let a two set lead slip, and Madison Keys lost from 5-0 up in the decider against the magnificent Zheng Qinwen. Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts gather at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre at the end of the fourth day of action at the US Open, which saw Carlos Alcaraz produce the best tennis of the men’s tournament so far, and Aryna Sabalenka show signs of tension off the court, while winning serenely on it. 

Part One - We discuss Carlos Alcaraz’s four set win over Jaime Faria. How is it possible that he’s playing this well after 5 months on the sidelines with a wrist injury? Will he be able to keep it up when the draw throws tougher challenges his way? Meanwhile, Ben Shelton continues his bumpier progress through the draw and Frances Tiafoe gets a straight setter on the board, but 12th seed Rafael Jodar suffers a shocking defeat. 

Part Two (29:13) - Aryna Sabalenka was untroubled in her second round match on Arthur Ashe Stadium but she remains in combative mood in the press conference room. Elsewhere Jessica Pegula and Karolina Muchova notched up one sided victories, while Paula Badosa setup an intriguing second round clash with title favourite Coco Gauff.

After spending the day in the US Open press conference room, Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts react to what the top players had to say as they prepare for the tournament. 

Part one - We discuss the way Carlos Alcaraz left us feeling positive about his return from injury, detailing that his wrist has felt fine in practice, that he’s using his experience of being injured in 2024 to help him, and that he plans to play his usual game style. So what can we expect from him this tournament? There’s also chat about how the other men’s contenders - such as Ben Shelton, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz - are largely playing down any talk of this being a big opportunity with Jannik Sinner not in the draw. What do we make of that? 

Part two (22:10) - On the women’s side, defending champion Aryna Sabelenka has been struggling for form recently. In what way was she defensive about that in her press conference? And can we read anything into it? Coco Gauff, on the other hand, discussed how she’s in a much better place mentally and with her game compared to twelve months ago, while Alexandra Eala spoke with incredible maturity about understanding her growing influence on the sport.

Catherine, David and Matt are all together in New York to react to the second edition of the revamped mixed doubles competition which was won by Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik, and also saw the return to action of Carlos Alcaraz.

Catherine, David and Matt catch up as Cincinnati concludes with two exciting champions putting themselves in a great position ahead of the year’s final Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Part one - ATP (00:00 - 28.13). Arthur Fils has been arriving for a while, but this was his biggest destination yet. A first Masters 1000 title with a victory over Frances Tiafoe on home soil in the process takes some doing. Where does that put him in the Mix for the US Open?

Part two - ATP (28.14 - 49:48). Coco Gauff has been here before - finding form in Cincinnati and then taking it into New York and winning it all. This was as well as she has played for a long time, and Jessica Pegula had few answers in the final. Is Gauff now the favourite for the US Open? Catherine, David and Matt react to the first few days of action across Canada as the men’s top seeds fall by the wayside. 

Part one (00:00 - 44:35) Unfortunately we start with an update on the abundance of injury news on the ATP Tour, including Carlos Alcaraz delaying his comeback and withdrawing from Cincinnati, as well as reports in Italy that Jannik Sinner is dealing with a knee issue. What do we make of all that?

For one last time at Wimbledon in 2026, Catherine, David and Matt were live on YouTube to react to Jannik Sinner beating Alexander Zverev 6-7 7-6 6-3 6-4 to defend his title at SW19. 

We discuss the way Zverev hit his forehand better than ever to take a one set lead, how Sinner stayed calm to raise his game and level up, and the final two sets which saw the Italian take charge. 

Should Zverev take the positives from pushing Sinner more than he has done in a while? Or will the fact he still fell short mean this one stings just as much? 

As for Sinner, we cover the importance of this title for his career as he bounced back from such disappointment at Roland Garros, and what the next few months could look like for him as Carlos Alcaraz’s future remains uncertain.

Catherine, David and Matt react live to women’s semi-finals day as Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova ensured there will be a Czech winner on Saturday.

Catherine, David and Matt are live on the day that Arthur Fery became the sixth British man in the Open Era to reach a Wimbledon quarter-final, beating Grigor Dimitrov on Centre Court.
