Psalms to Help You Sleep

en us
Welcome to the Psalms to Help You Sleep podcast with Sarah Frazer and Jennifer Holmes. If you struggle to fall asleep at night or go through your day fighting anxiety and depression pull up a chair. Psalms is a book that gives us permission to feel but also to hear. In the Psalms we find recognition and clarity because each of the psalmists gives an honest voice to our deepest struggles. They also give us a chance to hear another voice: that of our caring and ever-present Father. This is the voice we need to hear in the middle of the night when despair keeps us awake. The voice of God can sing us back to sleep. Join us as we read through a psalm, share a short devotional, and end in prayer. Take a breath. Let's begin.

Another goal for this podcast is that you will use it as a way to get into God's Word daily. Both of us are super passionate about Bible study and Bible reading as a daily practice. This podcast can help you when reading your Bible is hard.

Take this podcast and listen to it as a way to stay close to God's Word and hopefully you will go to sleep better at night.

Welcome to the Psalms to Help You Sleep podcast with Sarah Frazer and Jennifer Holmes.

This week's episode is from Psalm 14. The fool says there is no God, but what about those of us whose life is making us doubt? How can we be wise and bring our doubts to God? Through psalm 14 and the story of Peter from John 6, we learn that there is no where else to turn but to our Redeemer and Restorer.

Read Psalm 14 here. *

If you struggle to fall asleep at night or go through your day fighting anxiety and depression pull up a chair. Psalms is a book that gives us permission to feel but also to hear

One of the goals for this podcast is that it is a resource for you when you need it. We hope you will listen to every episode after it airs, but also, we understand that our mental health ebbs and flows. You might go a few weeks and sleep really well. Or it might be that a certain time of year is really bad and you need a little help. No matter how often you listen, we encourage you to listen again, not to our voices, but to the Voice of God in the Book of Psalms.

In this episdoe David assures himself of what he knows to be true, that God is true to his word. Look at how he describes God's words - pure and refined. This is in stark contrast to the words David was just lamenting. God's words of defence and safety are so meaningful to David because he knows they can be trusted. He knows God will keep them. He knows where his safety is found.
