Chiro Hustle

en us

Chiro Hustle Podcast is a business, mindset, and marketing podcast for chiropractors who want more—from their practices, their profession, and themselves.

Hosted by James Chester and produced by Luke Millett, Chiro Hustle delivers real conversations with chiropractors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders who are actively building successful, principled practices. This is not theory or recycled advice. It’s practical insight from people who have done the work and continue to push chiropractic forward.

Each episode explores what it actually takes to succeed in today’s chiropractic landscape—practice growth, branding, leadership, systems, patient communication, and personal development. Just as important, Chiro Hustle tackles the mindset behind success: discipline, consistency, accountability, and the willingness to stand for chiropractic without apology.

The podcast respects chiropractic’s roots while addressing modern business realities. Whether you’re straight, mixer, cash-based, insurance-based, or somewhere in between, the mission is the same: help chiropractors build influence, impact, and long-term sustainability without compromising their values.

Guests share their wins, failures, and lessons learned—openly and honestly—so listeners can avoid common pitfalls and accelerate their own growth. Students, associates, and seasoned doctors alike will find perspective, motivation, and actionable ideas they can apply immediately.

Chiro Hustle is more than a podcast. It’s a mindset and a movement—encouraging chiropractors to take ownership of their outcomes, lead with integrity, and hustle with purpose.

If you’re serious about chiropractic and committed to building a practice that reflects your values and vision, this podcast is for you.

Dr. Michael DeCubellis is a leading expert in treating complex and chronic injury cases. He has had multiple clinics and currently practices in Downers Grove and helps others understand the why and how of lasting pain and the healing process. Dr. DeCubellis came across this area after having several patients come into his clinic with pain that had been present for years and never went away. He wasn't able to make much progress with these patients either, and he wanted to figure out why this was happening and what could be done. After extensive training and research, Dr. DeCubellis was able to identify the underlying problem with the way of treating these patients, identify the underlying diagnosis and create a specialized treatment protocol to achieve results that were not possible before. Now those patients with injuries are able to heal properly the first time and recurrent and chronic problems actually improve! This was made as a way to better help patients get results quickly and not have these structural issues keep coming back. Now he works to not only help those achieve better results, but help people understand what is going on with their bodies, how the healing really happens, and why issues become chronic. Some accomplishments: Dr. DeCubellis has been a featured speaker at the Mortum Arboretum, Argonne Lab, Council of Supply Chain Management, Village of Westmont, and Illinois Depart of Human resources, to name a few. Voted Best Chiropractor by various publications, including Suburban Life, Top Doc, and Opencare, over 15 times in the last 8 years. Has worked with Injury Attorneys to increase case values to maximize policy limits by proper diagnosis and treatment protocols. Has been featured in multiple media, print, radio, and online areas including Suburban Life, Tampa Bay Times, Downers Grove Reporter, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Remarkable Radio, and EatThis.

Hi, I’m Danny DeReuter, and I want to save the world. I’ve been told I have a Superhero complex. That’s probably true to some extent. I want to help everybody and part of me is still that 14-year-old boy that fell in love with comic book heroes. I’m a chiropractor living in Chattanooga, TN, and practicing in Dalton, GA. I want everyone to be healthy naturally - without the use of drugs. I’m an occasional writer-I’ve written some stuff. Sometimes people think I’m funny. Maybe some time I’ll come up with a bit of courage and try my hand at stand-up. (seriously, that’s a thing on my vision board) I’ve become somewhat of a social media expert managing my online presence. I help show people how to do social media more effectively. I’m also a speaker. I prefer to speak on topics that I’m passionate about-like natural health, chiropractic, and social media. Be nice and you can ask me to speak at your event. Recently, a dream of mine was realized when I had an opportunity to become co-owner of Earth’s Remedies, a local health supplements store. I see my chiropractic clients at my office: Natural Life Chiropractic I was born in Colon, Panama, and moved to Miami, Fl when I was fifteen to go to High School. (Jose Canseco, the baseball player was a classmate) I have 2 beautiful daughters, Audrey and Chloe that are not impressed by anything written about me on this page. A random injury from a fall from a Wendy’s restaurant sign introduced me to the wonders of chiropractic. After floundering in random jobs, I finally knew what I wanted to do with my life! Soon after I enrolled at Life University College of Chiropractic. Since graduating I have done some work learning various techniques so I can serve my community better. I’ve done a mission trip to Honduras with Lifeline Ministries and there I had the opportunity to adjust hundreds of people.

Hi! I'm Alex, or as some have to call me, Dr. MamaBird I'm a wife, a #boymom of two, an entrepreneur #momboss, a vitalistic chiropractor, childbirth educator, vbac queen, and lover of all things wellness. Most importantly, I am a woman with the heart to serve other women STEP INTO THEIR GIFTS & POWER✨ In January 2019 I opened my women's health practice with a hope, dream, a little coaching...even less business knowledge Not 3 months later... I was surprised to find out I was pregnant with my 2nd child. By August, 8 months into practice, I was exhausted trying EVERYTHING (I knew what to do) to make my practice successful. I was paying myself less than $7/hr and I ended up having to shut down my practice and put myself on maternity leave at 32 weeks...just from stress While at home waiting for my baby to come, I consuming courses, webinars, books, coaching, ANYTHING...In the midst, I learned about a DIFFERENT WAY A way that would allow me to actually have a balanced #momlife and own a successful practice. In 2020 shortly after an amazing and empowered VBAC experience, I re-launched business in the middle of a pandemic using the tools I had learned leading up to it...and In my first month, I was PROFITABLE. Next, I paid myself more in the first 2 months, than ALL of 2019. All while working PART-TIME! In the past 12 months I have invested over $40k learning about business, branding, marketing, taken 8 courses, 400+ hours of webinars, podcasts, trainings, read 14 business related books, and received over 60+ hours coaching. I've Applied, Tested, Tweaked, Made Mistakes...ALOT of mistakes...tried again...and NOW I am sharing what I have learned about building a business that actually WORKS in 2020. A little more about me... I have a quirky sense of humor, love to work out, and eat clean with a dash of chocolate...let's be real...lots of chocolate. I love watching predictably sappy rom-coms and out-of-this-world fantasy and sci-fi. I am a real person just like you. I am a mom, just like you. Sometimes I get stressed or overwhelmed, just like you. As a holistic doctor, I created this practice as a means to share with other people how you can still be REAL and live the healthy life you desire. Life is complicated enough. Taking great care of yourself inside and out does not have to be. I define health as a dynamic state that ebbs and flows. B-E-A-YOU-tiful things happen when we start to live life free of interference. I know life is messy. I support balance, not perfection. I live my life on mission. My mission is to serve God by serving others. Loving service is my first technique.

Dr. Nathan Gerowitz, a family chiropractor, heeds a deep calling to help people unconditionally love themselves and participate in life. In 2011, he went to Nicaragua on his first service trip. Upon returning, he and his friends began building a non-profit organization to create sustainable, clean water for the island of Ometepe. This organization, Carthage World Relief, is still operating today. Whilst completing his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University, he regularly attended advanced seminars in the art, science, and practice of chiropractic. In 2015, he began serving as a facilitator for MLS Adjusting Seminars. He continues that service today, teaching chiropractors and chiropractic students to serve with integrity, ease, and authenticity. During his time in Georgia, Nathan also became a practitioner of Divine Intervention and Spontaneous Remission, and Quickening: Accelerated Conscious Evolution; a shamanic healing art and shadow processing modality, respectively. After briefly serving in southern California, Nathan returned to his hometown and founded Innate Life Chiropractic. I became a chiropractor because it saved my life when I was 14 years old. As a young kid, I was in a very bad car accident with my older brother. I broke about 12 bones, major concussion, splenectomy, broken femur, broken pelvis in 4 places, and was pronounced dead on arrival. I was supposed to get airlifted to HCMC in Minneapolis but it was too cloudy to fly. In ICU for 2 weeks unconscious, then in another hospital room for another 2 weeks. I was finally out a month later in a wheelchair, and patch for my eye (The concussion was so aggressive I saw double-vision for months afterward) In a bunch of pain, I was just praying I could get pain free without medications forever, walk, run, and just live a normal life again. I was told I would most likely be mentally challenged and or medicated for a lifetime. My mother then met a chiropractor and my life changed forever. 12-18 months later, I am on no medications, running at maybe 85% capacity, and vibrant again. I loved the idea as a kid helping others without drugs and surgery. I then went to SCSU in MN to pursue my undergrad degree in human biology. I was fascinated with anatomy and Physiology. I then pursued my DC at NWHSU graduating in 2015. I then pursued to learn the art of chiropractic at one of my mentor's offices, Dr. Dennis Woggon. I then opened my own practice in Ankeny IA in Oct. 2015. I opened my practice 100% cash, continued to grow every month, collecting north of 50k every month. 4-5 years into practice, at 29 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer. I then tried to heal naturally, no drugs, no surgery. Unfortunately, that did not work as well as I had hoped, so as a last resort, I went to chemo and surgery. A lot of chemo and many surgeries later, I am back and healthy and see the world through a whole different set of lenses. I also continued to ponder on what I was going to do next for a career. Don’t get me wrong, I am a DAMN proud chiropractor!! However, I felt something in my spirit tell me that God had another idea in mind for me, and going back to physically seeing patients wasn’t one of them. I am an entrepreneur at heart, so I wanted to always be my own boss, that’s all I Know. I was thankful when I was a 25-year-old punk doctor, I got introduced to my financial advisor. He helped me with many different strategies in regards to wealth accumulation, debt reduction, and tax strategies specific to the business owner. This stuff blew my mind and I loved it!! I also cannot imagine my life today without having those things in place knowing my health history. I wholeheartedly believe, this profession, like chiropractic when I was younger, has also saved my life. I think many would agree when I say that the majority of chiropractors either get POOR business/financial advice, or NONE at all!! So as a financial advisor, I know just think of myself as a doctor of one's financial health, vs the physical health. And don’t feel like I left the profession at all, considering 80% of my clients are chiropractors 😊 As chiropractors, we deserve to retire rich for what we provide to the world. My goal is to help every doctor get there with the least amount of stress possible.

In 2006 he followed his dream and moved to San Diego where he now has DREAM Wellness centers in Del Mar, Pacific Beach, and Santee. Dr. Stenzler was president of the California Chiropractic Association from 2014-2016 and is now the 2nd Vice President for the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (ChiroCongress, formerly known as COCSA). He provides an “insider’s look” so everyone will know how to live a healthy lifestyle, naturally; which of course requires a nervous system free of interference. The ultimate purpose of DREAM Wellness (the book, the wellness centers, and all other products and media), is to bridge the gap from the current reactive system of ‘healthcare’ toward a proactive model of wellness by providing the tools and venue for one’s journey. Dr. Paula Ruffin’s career was forged from an early age by her mother’s influence of healthy eating and homemade meals. She has been an athlete her whole life which led her to study Exercise Physiology at The University of Michigan. During that time she worked in the U of M obesity clinic helping people with nutrition and weight loss. She spent 2 years working in the Domino’s Farms Corporate Wellness Center continuing nutrition and weight loss, but also added personal training and crafting incentive programs to help people achieve their health goals. This led to working as a physical therapy assistant for 5 years while she attended post-graduate school, eventually finding her way to Palmer College of Chiropractic West, in San Jose, CA in 1995. Dr. Ruffin has been practicing for 23 years. She added functional medicine to her practice almost 20 years ago when she realized that helping people make positive lifestyle and nutritional changes was pivotal for their overall health success. She attributes her love for public speaking to her father who was an Eastern Orthodox priest. She admired his charisma and ability to connect with people by speaking off the cuff and from the heart and has always had a strong desire to emulate that. Dr. Ruffin serves on her township board where she is involved in the structure and growth of the community and local businesses. She serves on the board of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, University of Michigan chapter, where she can help mentor young women, and she is the president of her homeowners' association board 6 years running. Her goal is to work and live in healthy and thriving communities and help create happiness and joy for everyone. She is on a mission to be the connector of her community and be top of mind for all things health, wellness, and business.

At the Sherman College of Chiropractic, I rediscovered the ancient natural philosophy of healing and vitalism that was being lost amidst the modern infatuation with drugs and surgery. I especially liked chiropractic’s natural, drug-free procedures of locating and addressing the cause of body malfunction rather than treating symptoms – allowing the body to heal itself, as it was designed to do. When I entered chiropractic school I unknowingly became a participant in an ancient war. For over 2,500 years there has been a conflict in healthcare philosophies – best expressed as the conflict between empirical and mechanistic healers and often described as expressive versus suppressive healthcare. Chiropractic and various natural approaches are of the empirical school while orthodox (allopathic or Western) medicine is of the mechanist school. Far from being a cause of stress, this conflict helped me make sense out of the various ways healthcare is practiced in different professions. After graduating from Sherman College of Chiropractic (as class valedictorian) I jumped into private practice and professional involvement. I helped found Pennsylvania's only chiropractic college where I taught for nearly two years. I later hosted a two-hour radio call-in show on commercial radio every week in Philadelphia called “Holistic Hotline.” I met many of the leaders of the natural healing community in the greater Philadelphia area and was exposed to various healing modalities. It was a great education to help me make sense out of the often-confusing world of health choices. It's been my unshakeable belief in the wisdom of the body and its power to heal that has guided my choices throughout what you’ve read about above as well as healthcare decisions for my wife and our children. It’s also been at the core of my determination throughout my legal battles (including successfully standing up to the US government) on behalf of the chiropractic profession and the public’s right to freedom of choice in their healthcare. I continue to teach, to lecture, and to learn."

After getting hit by a car going the wrong way on an interstate highway, Steven Klein became a seeker of optimal health modalities. He attributes his astounding recovery to this and had an amazing recovery despite life-threatening injuries. In 2015, Steven discovered the world of Biohacking and fully jumped down the rabbit hole. Already called the Superkonnector, the incredible coincidences that led him to Dave Asprey’s Bulletproof Biohacking Conference in 2015 and to camp in Dave Asprey’s Biohack Camp at Burning Man 2016 and much much more led to the coining of the term Stevendipity. Steven currently uses over a dozen biohacking modalities and currently works for NES Health (www. Neshealth .com), his favorite of all “Biohacks”. NES Health’s technology can scan the body’s energy fields for blockages and imbalances in less than 20 seconds. This information is used to develop an individualized plan to clear and correct the energy fields to help the body function optimally. Steven enjoys yoga, working out, biohacking, riding his bike, traveling, and attending events with like-minded people.

In the early ’80s, Dave Mager was most often found in a sports arena coaching focused and unfocused athletes. This loud, persistent, structured leader expected excellence from his team and got it. He demanded superior behavior in all aspects of the athletes’ lives — a commitment to God, family, self, and the art of team sports. Dave Mager formulated the mindset of “GAME FACE” which translated means "a total and unyielding focus on the task at hand." This foundation principle was transcribed into peak performance in mind, body, and spirit. He demanded no less of himself than the charge he imposed on the athletes. Many people have asked me what the key to success is. My answer is always that it all comes back to having your own “GAME FACE” and having it on every day. Where did I come up with “GAME FACE”? In the fall of 1971, I was named the captain of the football team and I always led my team onto the field. Midway into the season one day after church the pastor asked if I would stay for a minute because he needed to talk to me. He started the conversation off by telling me he had an issue with me, and I nervously asked what the problem was. He began by stating all the fine qualities that he observed in me using in our community, and again I asked so what’s the problem. He told me that he was confused because I was always so nice and outgoing with everyone including himself, but at a football game, I had ignored him when he greeted me as I was leading the team onto the field. So, I apologized and asked him if we were okay and he said no because at the next game he tried louder, and I had ignored him that time too. Once again, I apologized and asked if we were okay now and he said no because just this last week at the game I had not only ignored him, but I had actually pushed him out of the way as I passed by. I told him I’m sorry, but I had my game face on. He asked me what do you mean you had your game face on. What is your game face? I explained that “GAME FACE” is when you get focused and mentally prepared for the game and it starts the second you get up not right before the game and it starts at 7 am not 7 pm. Twenty years later I had become successful in business and in my personal relationships. I had a son and he played football as well. He was named along with a couple of his close friends as a captain of his football team and they were always hanging around the house and I explained the concept of game face to them. That year his team not only won the north division, but they went on to win the entire conference championship and they did it by having their game face on at all times. They were focused on the task before them and they played with intensity and unity. Each of the guys on that team are now successful in both their professional and personal lives. “GAME FACE” has not only touched the lives of those in this country but it has also spread around the globe. From a Chiropractor, Dr. Matt on the mountain top of Pike’s Peak, to his brother a Captain in the Navy Seal’s on the shores of San Diego, to the Soldier’s on the frontlines of Iraq, to the Colonel in the Pentagon, and finally to the White House where Secretary Rice wrote it into a speech for President Bush along with a baseball analogy. The President chose the baseball analogy, but he did state he would keep the “GAME FACE” analogy for a time that our country needed to rally around each other. The most important thing about having your “GAME FACE” on is that it not only affects sports but has a tremendous impact on family, friends, and love ones in your life. Remember wake up every morning with your head in the game and have your “GAME FACE” every second of every day for the rest of your life to be fulfilled, passionate and successful in your personal life which empowers you professionally.

Gordon Hay is the co-founder, inventor, and creative visionary for ALINE Systems Inc, based in Marblehead, MA. With over twenty years of invention, patent, and production experience in biomechanical technologies, Hay has helped ALINE become the foot services provider to ESPN’s Summer and Winter X Games as well as the world-renowned education and sports training institution, IMG Academy. Since co-founding the company, he has helped ALINE to evaluate the lower body mechanics of over 100,000 diverse athletes from Olympic medalists to NFL and PGA players. Prior to ALINE, Hay founded Solesystems Inc., a foot services and footwear technology development lab based in Boston, MA, where he wrote a biomechanical bible of patents and introduced a wardrobe of “foot guided” and “foot guiding” shoe component prototypes to the world’s leading footwear developers. His extensive work between Italy, Brazil, Germany, and China also yielded many advanced biomechanical products used by today’s footwear companies and the US Army. Hay’s passion for human movement is a result of his childhood battle with severe asthma, which kept him benched on the sidelines of active life. From the bench, he became fascinated by the unique movement patterns that separated the high and low performing players on the field. Finally able to overcome his asthma as a teenager, he jumped into extreme sports. Desperate to push the performance envelope for himself and others, Hay entered the foot services industry in a search for answers. Hay trained at the Medical College of Wisconsin, receiving a Board Certification in Pedorthics. With great appreciation for this knowledge, Hay’s extreme performance needs revealed disconnects between what was being taught and what really was needed for advancing performance throughout variable footwear, terrains, and motions. His pursuit to create products that would propel the advancement of human movement has led to a journey filled with “grit” and adventure and the ability to produce products that can help advance performance for almost everyone's life – whether they're on or off the bench.

He lectures around the world, teaching other chiropractors about pediatric chiropractic. He is a regular contributor on pediatric tidbits for Gentempo and Kent’s “On Purpose” tape series. Above all, his most prestigious honor is that of having two and three generations of chiropractic patients receive care on a regular basis. He and his wife, Terry, live in Inman, South Carolina, and have 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

With a father who was a chiropractor, the natural healing profession was always a part of Dr. Tapper’s life. When he or a member of his family had a cold, slip and a fall, or any other ailment, chiropractic was their go-to solution. They grew up on a farm with horses and land to roam. When it was time to decide on a career path, Dr. Tapper chose to attend business school. During his freshman year, Dr. Tapper had a severe car accident. His injuries were serious, and the doctor told him that he would never be active or play sports again. “I became my diagnosis. I gained weight, felt depressed, and didn’t know what to do. My chiropractor put me on a plan and inspired me to live the chiropractic lifestyle again. I feel thankful for what I went through. I already believed in chiropractic. It wasn’t until I had this experience that I understood what chiropractic could truly do for people.”

Dr. Ofili received his Bachelor's Degree in Health Science Studies from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, then immediately continued his studies at Life Chiropractic College West where he graduated with a Doctorate in Chiropractic in the winter of 2014. Dr. Ofili has trained with the best in the business, polishing his skills to be able to help with many different types of spinal conditions. In Dr. Ofili’s junior year of college, he completely fractured the head of his femur bone and almost didn't survive a near-death car accident. Life stopped for him, right there in that moment. After hip surgery, there was excruciating pain in his physical body, his mind, and his emotions for quite some time – until he went to go see a chiropractor. After his first adjustment, he was completely amazed. Somehow, there was a clearer, calmer, and more present being that he hadn’t felt in years. Thinking it was sheer luck, he went again for a second time, and once again there was more clarity, calmness, and ease in his body. He was convinced that chiropractic had something very special to offer to humanity, healing, and the suffering that we face. Dr. Ofili believes that chiropractic is one of the most efficient tools to get humanity to reach lucidity and connect back with who we are which allows us to do the things we love again. We get overwhelmed by physical and mental pain that we cannot manage well and our life process is interfered with by the protective nature of the body. It makes great sense to remove that interference through a chiropractic adjustment so that lucidity can begin to flow again and your true connection with life can be felt. According to the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell it takes 10,000 hours toward any craft to be considered a master. With the number of hours Dr. Ofili has put in with intensive training and commitment to understanding the in’s and out’s of the body, he believes he could help with any nervous system related problem. Dr. Ofili loves what he does and feels fortunate to have found a career through which he can truly impact people’s lives. Samurai Training Seminars BIo Samurai training was developed to grow the chiropractor in the art, business, and communication of chiropractic. I created Samurai training in 2013 as a means to help create a well-rounded chiropractor. Since then, over 500 students have received the training. A chiropractor who is developed beyond the general standard tends to see better results all around. I believe the chiropractic adjustment has the ability to transform people’s lives, and it is in the chiropractor's best interest to train in doing chiropractic adjustment as a professional tennis player would train for their sport. Samurai training has traveled around the US, training chiropractors from all different states. I’ve personally been involved with three different mission trips in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. The goal of samurai training is to come from a selfless place—no bragging, no boasting, just being undeniably good at the work. The motto followed in Samurai training is this: The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Dr. Andrea Nazarenko is the co-owner at Old Mill Chiropractic & Family Wellness. She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology, with a concentration in quantitative methods, from the University of South Carolina (USC), as well as Masters Degrees in Psychology in Education (Columbia University, NY), Clinical-Community Psychology (USC), and Applied Statistics (USC). As a community and quantitative psychologist, her background is in the study of how maladaptive and antisocial behaviors develop, particularly among serious and violent youth offenders; and in the development of statistical models that help us answer complex questions, such as why people respond differently to the same treatment or why people exposed to similar risks turn out differently. Her current work focuses on helping organizations, mostly healthcare systems, and governmental agencies, implement new practices and policies with quality. She is discouraged by the mediocracy of behavioral and physical health services in this country and worldwide and develops systems to bridge the gap between what we know in research and how we implement it in practice. The goal is to improve quality to improve outcomes. Her current projects include working with the Ministries of Health in Thailand to implement a physical activity intervention to improve health among dementia patients, working with the Commissioner of Health in Nigeria to improve the quality of maternal care for babies with Sickle Cell Disease, and participates in a national consortium to improve the quality of care provided to adolescents and adults with Sickle Cell Disease in the United States. She additionally conducts data analysis for the implementation of prevention programming in the United States Air Force and is the quantitative psychologist on a grant assessing how ready health centers are to screen for colorectal cancer. Above all, her heart is in the world of gentle parenting and spreading knowledge about the benefits of natural approaches to health. She is the biostatistical consultant to the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and conducts research on the effectiveness of chiropractic with pediatric populations. Her passion lies in activating her community to live the best life possible, and her mission is to spread knowledge about natural healthcare and supporting the physical and emotional health of children.
