The road to the 2026 Aquatics GB Championships officially runs through Edinburgh! In this episode of the Propulsion Swimming Podcast, we break down a massive weekend of racing at the Edinburgh International Swim Meet (EISM), featuring a historic British Record and a comeback from the Greatest of All Time.

The swim of the meet belongs to Freya Colbert. After dominating the 400m Freestyle (4:06.16) and the 200m IM (2:10.48), Colbert stunned the field in the 200m Freestyle. She became the first British woman in history to break the 1:55 barrier, clocking a sensational 1:54.98 British Record. We discuss where this puts her on the world stage heading into the summer.

It was a rollercoaster weekend for Adam Peaty. After a miss on the 100m Breaststroke podium—where World Junior Champion Filip Nowacki (1:00.26) claimed the breaststroke double—Peaty bounced back in the 50m Breaststroke (27.33) and ahead of rising threat of 18-year-old Max Morgan.

In this episode of the Propulsion Swimming Podcast, we talk about 2025 Toyota U.S. Open Championships in Austin, Texas, where there were some stunning swims.

Summer McIntosh and Leon Marchand made the biggest headlines. McIntosh roared back into competition with the second fastest 400m freestyle in history, with a 3:55.37. She then closed out the meet with a dominant 200m butterfly in 2:02.62, the fourth fastest ever.

Marchand was equally impressive. He dipped into the 400m free, not his usual specialty, and clocked a lifetime best of 3:44.70. Then he wrapped up with a triumphant 200m butterfly in 1:52.57.

The Final legs of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2025 in Toronto saw a gluten of new Short Course World Records and the Propulsion Swimming Podcast are here to discuss all.

The meet was highlighted by two major barriers being broken for the first time in history: the women's 100m freestyle and the men's 200m breaststroke.

On the women's side, Kate Douglass of the USA made history by becoming the first woman to ever swim the 100m freestyle in under 50 seconds, clocking a stunning new world record of 49.93. The Australian women also dominated. Lani Pallister crushed the 800m freestyle record with a time of 7:54.00, taking more than three seconds off the previous mark. Her compatriots Kaylee McKeown and Mollie O'Callaghan both lowered their own recent world records; McKeown in the 200m backstroke (1:57.33) and O'Callaghan in the 200m freestyle (1:49.36).

For the men, Caspar Corbeau of the Netherlands achieved a monumental feat, becoming the first man to break the two-minute barrier in the 200m breaststroke with a new world record of 1:59.52. Hubert Kos of Hungary was another standout, setting two world records over the weekend: one in the 200m backstroke (1:45.12) and another in the 100m backstroke (48.16). Finally, Josh Liendo gave the home crowd a thrill by setting a new world record in the 100m butterfly with a time of 47.68.
