Yahoo Fantasy Forecast: Draft Edition

Matt Harmon is joined by both Dalton Del Don and Scott Pianowski to preview all of the Saturday, Sunday and Monday NFL games happening in week 16 with an eye towards fantasy football.

Many of the games talked about will have freezing temperatures, snow and strong gusts of wind that could play big roles in passing games around the country. The guys talk about that and also about Californians inability to deal with weather of any sort.

Matt struggles to figure out which TE he’ll start on his own fantasy teams while Dalton talks up Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf and D.J. Moore. Meanwhile, Scott can’t figure out what to do with K.J. Osborn and would take almost any rushing yardage prop bet for Derrick Henry against the Texans this week.

Scott also explains the PBI (Pianow Backup Index) and uses it throughout the podcast to explain the offensive impact of each team that is starting a backup QB in week 16.

Matt Harmon is joined by Dalton Del Don to provide one stat for all 32 NFL teams, and along the way the guys end up talking about games on Christmas Day, the running back market in free agency this offseason and the ranking of QBs if you were building a franchise right now.

Unlike most weeks, when the guys start with the best teams in the league and work down to the worst, they go from worst to first this week and uncover a few fantasy gems on the league’s worst teams along the way.

Find out which Broncos RB might just win your fantasy football playoff game this week, why a new QB in Indianapolis probably doesn’t boost the fantasy value of Michael Pittman, and which run defense has been on fire for the last month (the answer will surprise you!).

Matt and Dalton also check in on their Mike Evans vs. Gabe Davis bet, and conclude that they were both wrong and should’ve trusted their guts in the preseason instead of digging into the numbers.

Finally, the guys preview a very important (for playoff reasons) Thursday night game between the Jaguars and Jets and explain why it may not be a good game for fantasy managers.

Matt Harmon is joined by Scott Pianowski to recap the Sunday NFL action, which included a lot of exciting finishes but not a lot of big fantasy football performances, and talk about their takeaways from the Saturday games, as well.

The guys kick off the show by talking about last week’s RB1, who might also end up this week’s RB1, Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon. They also talk about the Jeff Driskel positional eligibility discourse.

After that, they break down a few games that didn’t help us a lot in fantasy before diving into another great Trevor Lawrence game, this time against the Dallas Cowboys, and talk about where he’ll likely rank next season amongst fantasy QBs.

Matt and Scott really only talk about the NFC South teams because they have to. It’s that time of the year and they’re over watching bad teams, and the entire NFC South is bad.

Jalen Hurts and Justin Fields, who played against each other this week, should both run less than they are now to lower their chances for injury. Diontae Johnson, on the other hand, should catch more passes but not go in the end zone…for history’s sake.

Finally, the guys talk about what they liked or didn’t like from Saturday’s games including a new #2 WR in Minnesota, a new offensive gameplay from the Dolphins, and maybe a new relevant fantasy RB.

Matt Harmon and Andy Behrens break down Monday’s news coming out of week 14 of the NFL schedule before diving into some waiver wire recommendations for teams that need help in week 15

Deebo Samuel’s ankle is probably bad enough that you should drop him, even though Brock Purdy has the 49ers’ offense cruising.

The Atlanta Falcons put Marcus Mariota on IR, clearing the path for rookie QB Desmond Ridder. At the same time, the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are hoping for big games from their respective QBs (Mike White & Tua Tagovailoa).

Speaking of Tua, he was terrible in the Dolphins’ loss on Sunday night football to a Los Angeles Chargers team that might be getting healthy at exactly the right time.

Matt Harmon and Scott Pianowski talk their way through all 10 of the NFL games that were played during the day on Sunday in Week 14, a week that included a ton of injuries and backup QBs and some bounce back fantasy performances from some unheralded QBs.

D’Andre Swift went back to his normal usage but the Detroit Lions’ offense is fun because of how deep their WR room is and how good Jared Goff is playing.

Trevor Lawrence showed exactly why he was the #1 overall pick with a virtuoso performance against the Titans, although it paled in comparison to what Jalen Hurts did against the New York Giants (and what Jalen Hurts seemingly does every week).

Josh Allen put his body on the line to get a win against the New York Jets, but it raised the question if there are any good fantasy players on the Buffalo Bills besides Allen and Stefon Diggs.

Deshaun Watson played terribly again, as did the Dallas Cowboys (who should’ve lost to the Houston Texans), and Patrick Mahomes played with his food until Russell Wilson rallied the Denver Broncos back before leaving with a scary head injury.

Brock Purdy showed that just about any QB can be good in the San Francisco 49ers offense, the Carolina Panthers showed that they can beat almost anybody, and J.K. Dobbins looked good in a very ugly game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

They kick off the show with an appreciation of Jalen Hurts, who has been so good this season that he and Patrick Mahomes might screw up the Offensive Player of the Year award, and slightly less appreciation for Daniel Jones.

The Jets upset the Bills with Zach Wilson as their QB, so why are the Bills so heavily favored this week? The guys explain why, and talk about Zonovan Knight’s role in the New York offense before switching their attention to the Detroit Lions and D’Andre Swift’s health.

Derrick Henry’s health is one of fantasy football’s most important questions right now. Are the Titans hiding an injury? Also, is there any reason to expect Deshaun Watson will be less terrible this week against a good Bengals defense?

What can we expect from the Cowboys playmakers if we think their game against the Texans will be over by halftime? Who will split the 1 TD the Broncos are going to score against the Chiefs? Can we count on anyone with the Chiefs besides Mahomes and Kelce?

Following a wild afternoon of games, Matt Harmon and Scott Pianowski get together to recap all of the biggest fantasy performances from week 13 in the NFL.

The guys kick off the show with a recap of the San Francisco 49ers’ win over the Miami Dolphins, which saw Jimmy Garoppolo go down with a broken foot that will leave San Francisco with their third starting QB of the season.

After that, the guys discuss the Cincinnati Bengals’ riveting win over the Kansas City Chiefs, including the frustration with trying to pick a Chiefs WR to bet on in fantasy football.

Does anyone offer two better fantasy players, and roles, than the Las Vegas Raiders with Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams? Almost definitely not, and the guys talk about what is wrong with the Los Angeles Chargers offense and whether it can be fixed in time for them to make the playoffs.

The Minnesota Vikings, a bad team with a good record, held off the New York Jets but offered very little in terms of fantasy value. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the Detroit Lions got Amon-Ra St. Brown into the end zone twice and brought D’Andre Swift’s fantasy value back to life.

There’s lots of WR talk, as per usual, including A.J. Brown’s revenge game against the Titans, Christian Watson squarely in Aaron Rodgers’ circle of trust, and the best WR tandem in the league in Seattle.

The guys start by talking about how injuries to Elijah Mitchell and Christian McCaffrey could end up being good news for Deebo Samuel managers before wondering if the Kansas City Chiefs running game will be able to get off the ground against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Los Angeles Chargers won’t be able to stop Raiders RB Josh Jacobs, if Jacobs plays at all, but that situation is a lot clearer than whatever is happening in the Detroit Lions’ backfield with D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.

There are signs of weakness in the run defense of the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles, who face Derrick Henry this week, and we probably won’t know if Justin Fields is going to play before Sunday.

Find out what to expect from Deshaun Watson against the Texans in his return to the NFL, and who should’ve been the offensive rookie of the year this year (but isn’t going to be).

Matt Harmon and Scott Pianowski recap the NFL’s week 12 Sunday afternoon games with an eye towards their affect on the fantasy football landscape.

After talking about an absolutely massive game from Raiders RB Josh Jacobs, and debating whether or not it’s time to worry about Seahawks QB Geno Smith, the guys start talking about the new starting QBs around the league this week.

Jets QB Mike White was a huge improvement over Zach Wilson, but Bears QB Trevor Siemian failed to live up to Justin Fields’ spectacular play.

Kyler Murray returned to the Cardinals and almost led the team to an upset win over the Los Angeles Chargers in a game that came down to the final drive.

Jacoby Brissett got a win over the Buccaneers before Deshaun Watson returns to take his job with the Browns, and the 49ers RBs struggled to stay healthy while the defense kept the Saints off the board.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, in his second season, finally had the game that we’ve been waiting for from him and led his team to a huge upset over the Baltimore Ravens.

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler is back from the bye week and excited to get back to another episode of Ekeler’s Edge.

Matt Harmon and Scott Pianowski go through all of the weekend games from Week 7 in the NFL and discuss the best fantasy performances, the disappointments, and the news that fantasy managers will have to adjust for.

Matt Harmon is joined by Andy Behrens for the weekly waiver wire pickups podcast, but the show kicks off with the guys reacting to the news that WR Robbie Anderson has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals and WR DeSean Jackson is visiting with the Baltimore Ravens.

The guys also discuss the impact of Carson Wentz’s injury and how it will affect the Washington Commanders WRs, if at all, before moving on to recapping the Sunday night game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.

Once they make it to the waiver wire pickups section of the episode…there’s not much here. Between bye weeks and nobody taking a step forward that won’t soon lose their job to a returning starter, there’s just not a lot of fantasy gold on the waiver wire this week.

One guy to look for is Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce, who is putting up consistent numbers in an offense that seems like it might finally be finding its identity as a pass-first operation.

Before wrapping up with an update from the Treviso Babes league, Matt and Andy tell you who they would suggest dropping, which guys they think are still worth holding onto, and which rookies would make for great stashes at the end of your bench for the second half of the season.

Matt Harmon is joined by Scott Pianowski and Andy Behrens in previewing each of the Week 6 games in the NFL from a fantasy perspective.

Find out why Gabe Davis reminds the guys of Stefon Diggs (in Minnesota), why Eno Benjamin could be a league winner, and when is the right time to trade Rondale Moore.

The guys also talk a lot about the fantasy value for playmakers that are lacking at the QB position, like Alec Pierce in Indianapolis (sorry, Matt Ryan) and Tyreek Hill in Miami (not sorry, Skylar Thompson).

Matt gets to laugh at Scott and Andy, who continue their noble pursuit of a worthwhile Giants WR (Darius Slayton? Wan’Dale Robinson? Nobody?) and gets called out for bragging about having a lot of Jakobi Meyers on his teams.

The Packers offense looks broken, but their coaching is good enough that it should be fixed soon. On the other hand, the guys wonder if maybe Zac Taylor is the problem instead of the solution in Cincinnati. There’s also debate on whether or not Jeff Wilson will keep the starting RB job with the 49ers once Eli Mitchell returns.

Finally, the guys break down the Cowboys-Eagles game on Sunday night and talk about how wrong they were in thinking the Broncos were going to be good as a way to preview their Monday night game against the Chargers.
