en us
You didn’t start your business to be a full-time content creator. You started it to help people, earn consistent income, and finally have the freedom you dreamed of. The Goal Digger Podcast is your go-to show for clear marketing strategies, proven systems, and honest conversations that help you grow your business in a way that feels good and actually works. If you have ever asked yourself how do I grow my business online without burning out, what do I even post on social media that truly connects with people, can Pinterest or podcasting really grow my audience while I sleep, how do I build an email list from scratch without the tech headaches, is it actually possible to make money with a small audience, what should I offer and how do I launch it without second-guessing everything, or am I too late to start over or scale up, this show is your answer. Every episode blends practical, proven strategies with the mindset shifts you need to break through imposter syndrome, release overwhelm, and clarify your next steps. Past guests include powerhouse names like Amy Porterfield, Mel Robbins, Marie Forleo, Ed Mylett, and Jasmine Star. Let’s be real: Manifestation is magical, but it’s not a one-stop ticket to your dream life. You can’t just think it—you’ve got to build it, step by step, strategy by strategy, action by action.

In today’s episode, we’re diving into what happens when manifestation meets strategy. I’ll share how to blend the power of intention, belief, and visualization with the practical, actionable steps that bring those dreams to life.

Because here’s the truth: Wishing for a thriving business, a fulfilling life, and big goals is only the starting point. It’s the strategy, consistency, and work behind those wishes that make them a reality.

So, if you’re a little bit “woo” and a whole lot of “let’s get to work,” this episode is for you. Whether you’re a vision board queen or a spreadsheet master—or maybe a mix of both—I’ll show you how to create a plan that bridges the gap between where you are and where you want to go.

How many times have you set a big goal, only to feel overwhelmed or like it was impossible to keep up with? Or maybe you’ve just given up altogether because it felt too much?

I’ve been there, too. For years, I set really giant goals and felt overwhelmed by figuring out even the first step towards them! Or worse, I’d set a goal and try to make it all happen at once – spoiler: life doesn’t work that way and goal setting that way isn’t effective. I’ve learned that approach didn’t work—especially when life got busy and boy has it gotten busy.

We all know that by February, most resolutions are already out the window, right? And while we all want to make this year our best yet, it's time for a new way of doing things. We need an approach that helps us reach our goals without crushing the life out of them.

Today, we’re adding some fresh takes to the strategies you’ve tried in the past—and throwing in some hot takes on how to approach goal-setting in a way that actually works for real life. No overwhelm, no burnout—just sustainable success that feels good and actually sticks!

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned in both work and life, it’s this: you HAVE to protect your peace. Your energy, your focus, and your happiness all depend on it. But here’s the thing—protecting your peace doesn’t just happen on its own. It requires intentionality, courage, and the willingness to set boundaries that honor your time, values, and priorities.

But let’s be real, boundaries aren’t always easy to define or enforce, especially when you’re juggling a business, relationships, and personal goals.

That’s why in this episode, I’m sharing the boundaries that have helped me show up better—at work, for my family, and most importantly, for myself. These boundaries are tried and true – really, nothing has changed since this episode originally aired in 2022!

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need a reminder to prioritize your well-being, this conversation is your permission slip to say “no” more often and “yes” to the things that truly matter.

We’ve all heard the advice to “work smarter, not harder,” but what if there was a hidden key—one simple principle—that could completely change the way you approach your business?

As I was diving into audits and plans for next year, I kept seeing this one principle popping up everywhere. It was like a lightbulb moment, and it inspired this episode because if it’s showing up for me, there’s a good chance it’s impacting you, too.

Today, I’m diving into this surprisingly simple rule that could help you 10x your business, covering everything from revenue and audience engagement to daily productivity.

Grab a notebook, because I’ll show you exactly how this principle can help you zero in on the work that truly moves the needle. Ready to see a little business magic in action? Click play!

We’ve all heard the saying: “Start before you’re ready.” But how often do we really take that advice to heart? Today’s episode is a little different—and really special—because I’m taking you inside Chapter 15 of my book, How Are You, Really. Grab your copy at http://howareyoureallybook.com

In this chapter, I dive deep into the fear of starting imperfectly, finding the courage to take that first step toward your dreams, and why taking messy, brave action—despite your doubts—is the secret to growth.

Whether you’re launching a new business, starting a podcast, or pursuing a passion that’s been on your heart, this chapter is all about embracing the imperfection that comes with the journey. And trust me, I know a thing or two about that. Starting this podcast was anything but perfect, but here we are, over 800 episodes later, proof that action creates clarity.

If launching a podcast has been on your heart but you’re not sure where to begin, join my free training at http://freepodcastclass.com,where I walk you through Podcasting 101: How to Start, Record, and Profit from Your Show! I’m living proof that you don’t need perfection to get going—you just need to take that first step. Save your free seat at http://freepodcastclass.com!

One of the things I love most about our community is how we always keep it real about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship… and Vanessa Lau embodies this spirit in such a profound way.

Vanessa Lau is a creator and entrepreneur on a mission to inspire business owners and creators to lead more authentic and fulfilling lives. Last year, she took a step back to reset, and in doing so, she redefined what success means to her. Vanessa's story is a powerful reminder that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is take a break.

In this episode, Vanessa and I are chatting about the common traps in business and how these led to her dissolving her business for a year and how to follow your intuition if you find yourself in need of a break. She also shares key lessons she learned about her health, relationships, and most importantly herself when she stripped her business away from her identity, and the changes she’s made in her business this time around to avoid making the same mistakes that led to her burnout!

This conversation is about to leave you feeling inspired and empowered to protect your peace… no matter what it takes. I can’t wait for you to hear Vanessa’s insights about redefining success so click play now!

Calling all brick-and mortar business owners! If you want to get more eyes on your business and more people IN your location, this coaching session has your name written all over it!

As a young girl, Heather Davis had always loved baking sweet treats, and although she initially took a traditional career path to become a teacher, she continued to develop her craft as a baker. Though Heather would often bring her fresh baked goods to her school just for the love of baking, her fellow teachers started placing orders, and encouraged her to sell them! So in 2011 she made the life-changing decision to launch a bakery, Chic Sweets Fine Desserts.

Since 2014, Chic Sweets Bakery has partnered with the finest coffee shops and cafes including Nordstrom Department Stores, Saks Fifth Avenue, Rice University and Aramark Corporation. A little over a year ago, Heather opened her first brick-and-mortar location in a suburb north of Houston, Texas, and that’s exactly what we’re talking about today!

Although I’ve never owned a brick-and-mortar myself, I have a LOT of tricks up my sleeve for Heather to get more organic and paid customers, and I just know you’ll benefit from them, too. Speaking of YOU…

Isn’t it funny how things can change in a year? This time last August, we were driving to the beach with our kids and we drove past the Duluth Rowing Club. Fast forward to this summer, and every single week I spend time in a boat with 8 other women of all ages and experience levels. If I’ve learned anything about being a beginner, you learn by doing, not watching!

That was also my motto when my mom and I took a sourdough class earlier this year, when Drew and I decided to become beekeepers, and when my girls and I tried our hands at starting our very first garden. I have so much to learn in all of these new hobbies, and honestly, it feels so good to be so curious!

Of course, those little imposter feelings can hit deep…. And then I remember I’m not an imposter, I’m simply a human brave enough to be a beginner. So today, I want to walk you through the lessons I’m learning while I find myself being a beginner again, and most importantly how you can invite more joy, curiosity, and NEWness into your life, too.

Cheers to never being too old for learning something new! Let’s dive into the beginner’s playbook!

Welcome to the 800th episode of The Goal Digger Podcast! Over nearly 8 years, I have interviewed hundreds of business owners in all different industries, taught you countless business strategies, and opened my heart to you during pregnancy, loss, moving, and everything in between. We’ve really lived some life together over the years, haven’t we?

After over 110 MILLION downloads and a whole lot of fun and lessons learned along the way, I felt like this would be an appropriate time to stop, take a look around, and reflect. And no, this isn’t a “goodbye” episode…

The Goal Digger Podcast isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! But you ARE catching me “in my feels” today, because as I reflect on the last 800 episodes, it’s bittersweet to think about how much has changed over the past 8 years.

Today, I want to invite you to reflect AND react WITH me as we listen to the very first episode of the Goal Digger Podcast together. Think of it as a ‘listening party,’ if you will!

Whether you’re hearing this episode for the first time ever or the first time in a long time, just imagine me sitting next to you, listening too. And throughout the episode when we break away from the recording, you’ll hear my raw, real-time thoughts… Some will be sweet and some won’t be pretty, but they’ll all be true to the “me” today, in August of 2024!

I’m excited and already nervous to hit play… Let’s do this together!

When was the last time you intentionally slowed down? I’m not talking about a quick weekend getaway, although that’s important too. I’m talking about slowing down by choice – for a day, a week, a month or even a season. Have you done that recently? Or…. Ever?

Breaks are still just as important to our wellbeing as they were when we were kids. The only difference is that now, we have to make time for these slow-downs, rather than have it planned for us every year!

This summer, I have intentionally decided to slow down and invite more play into my life… both for myself, for my family, and for my business. We’ve all heard the saying “you can’t pour from an empty cup,” and that’s exactly what this summer has been about.

(Spoiler alert: it’s been wonderful!)

In this episode, we’re diving into the behind the scenes of what I’ve been up to these last few months while I pour into myself, my marriage, and my girls!
