Condition Specific Marketing

Robert McDermott, Condition Specific New Patient Marketing Solutions

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 808 Robert McDermott

Robert McDermott is Founder and Chief Marketing Officer at Condition Specific New Patient Marketing Solutions, Inc. For the past 19 years he has been "in the trenches" helping chiropractors and dentists fill their offices with the exact type of patients (and case fees!) they want.

He does this using his direct-response, PSA-style, 30-second TV commercials to generate the leads. Then he uses his proprietary email follow-up system to nurture and convert the leads into new patients. What's "old' is new again.

With Google and Facebook constantly changing their algorithms and businesses getting deplatformed and "cancelled' left and right, they're discovering the benefits of TV advertising. People think TV advertising is way too expensive for them. And it is, if you do it the way the sales reps at the TV stations want you to. They want you to invest tens of thousands of dollars, using image-type ads to "build your brand". Robert’s direct-response, PSA-style commercials are the direct opposite. He’s an old school Dan Kennedy guy and subscribes to the old marketing adage, “Never do any marketing where the result can’t be track.”

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Robert McDermott about condition specific marketing.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How writing articles about your product instead of ads can lead to more sales.

- Why you need to have an email follow-up to convert leads into customers.

- How leads who don’t convert are waiting for the right time and need to be nurtured.

- Why dentist and chiropractors need help with their marketing strategies.

- How you should advertise on platforms that cater to your market.

803: Golden Tax Relief with Ben Golden, Golden Tax Relief

Ben Golden, Golden Tax Relief

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 803 Ben Golden

Ben Golden is the CEO and Founding member of IRS Trouble Solvers, LLC, an organization helping individuals and businesses with wage garnishments, tax liens, delinquent tax returns, advisory bankruptcy services, and more. Ben takes a very different approach on each unique case and develops a thorough plan that will resolve tax problems efficiently and effectively.

Tax resolution is not just a profession to Ben. It is, indeed, personal as he has had his own experiences dealing with the IRS fighting to right issues which arose from Identity Theft and false tax filings against him. These issues brought him into repeated interactions with law enforcement and various IRS agents and, ultimately, the engagement of a Taxpayer Advocate. The experience only reaffirmed what Ben already knew: Individuals and professionals untrained in tax resolution are at a tremendous disadvantage dealing with the IRS. As an Enrolled Agent, Ben knew how the IRS worked, and yet it was still extremely frustrating to know what needed to be done and not be able to get their help. He could only imagine how someone who doesn’t know or understand the IRS must feel.

Dealing with the IRS can be terrifying for someone who has never had to do that before. Having fought his own battle with the IRS, Ben’s clients can count on him to fight for the best resolution possible with compassion, integrity and the utmost professionalism garnered over his career and practice. He is passionate about helping people that find themselves in the scary situation of owing the IRS money find peace, protection, and posterity. He looks forward to sharing this helpful information with listeners.

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Ben Golden about tax relief.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How the IRS is the world’s most powerful and dangerous predator.

- How penalties can go up to 63% on payroll taxes if you don’t pay them on time.

- Why you’ll have bigger problems if your taxes for your payroll look fraudulent.

- What trust taxes are, how they work, and how the IRS collects them.

- Why a business owner might run into trouble with the IRS in the first place.

801: Inventing the Commercialization of the Internet

Inventing the Commercialization of the Internet

Ken McCarthy, KenMcCarthy.com

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 801 Ken McCarthy

Ken McCarthy was one of the original pioneers of the movement to commercialize the Internet. He sponsored the first conference on the subject of the Web’s commercial potential in 1994 with the then 23-year-old co-founder of Netscape Marc Andreessen as the featured speaker.

That same year Ken wrote the first article on e-mail advertising that was published in a legitimate marketing industry trade journal. Rick Boyce, who is widely credited with popularizing the banner ad, credits Ken with introducing him to the idea that the Internet could be used as an advertising medium. Writing for Time Magazine, Tony Halle CEO of Charbeat which provides Internet metrics to over 4,000 major online publishers, credited Ken with being the first to grasp the importance of the clickthrough rate. (This metric is the foundation of both Google and Facebook’s fortunes.)

Ken’s book “The Internet Business Manual” was the first book on Internet entrepreneurship published in Japan and for many years he served as a consultant to NEC, the Japanese equivalent to IBM, advising them on Internet matters. Since 1993, Ken has developed numerous cutting edge training programs that have not only helped his clients make more money but have also served to advance the state-of-the-art in Internet marketing practice.

Since its introduction in 2002, Ken’s System Seminar has been widely regarded as one of the most practical Internet marketing trainings in the world. In 2008, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted him the exclusive right to use the phrase “The System” to describe Internet marketing education products.

Before entering the Internet field, Ken produced concerts and radio programs; taught advanced learning strategies at MIT and Columbia University; worked on Wall Street; founded a direct marketing consulting company; and helped start an audio postproduction studio in New York City that was involved in the making of an Academy Award winning film and one of the highest grossing foreign language films of all time.

Currently, he is a special adviser to levees.org and Friends of Hudson, a board member and adviser to Meals for Health and the proprietor of JazzontheTube, the second most visited jazz web site on the Internet. Ken’s work both on and off the Internet has been acknowledged in several books including The Complete Guide to Internet Publicity by Steve O’Keefe, Peak Learning by Ron Gross, and How to Make Millions with Your Ideas by Dan Kennedy.

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Ken McCarthy about inventing the commercialization of the internet.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How the invention of the internet is as important as the invention of the printing press.

- Why people who only utilize the internet should be looking at direct mail.

- How publishing your own book allows you to stand out in your marketplace.

- Why it’s easy for people to lose or forget about your digital ads.

- How you want to set yourself apart with your marketing strategy.

Telling Profitable Stories

Harry Morton, Lower Street

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 798 Harry Morton

Harry Morton is the UK-based founder and CEO of Lower Street, a podcast production agency specializing in creating shows for agencies, startups, and enterprise clients.

As more agencies rush to get into audio, it’s giving rise to lots of half-baked productions nobody actually wants to listen to. According to Harry, it’s not enough to just sit for 30 minutes and talk if you want to stand out from the growing competition. Much more goes into building and running listen-worthy and ROI-positive podcasts.

Harry and his team of producers, audio engineers, and marketers have launched more than 50 podcasts and produced thousands of episodes. Their client roster includes the #1 UK business podcast Secret Leaders, brands like Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and Stanford Graduate School of Business, as well as multiple hugely successful agency podcasts.

Harry is also a happy father of 2, avid mountain biker, and an occasional music producer

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Harry Morton about telling profitable stories.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How there is an opportunity in podcasting to make something that’s never been made.

- Why the podcasting world is sometimes referred to as the Wild West.

- How you want to make a unique podcast that is different from what already exists.

- Why packaging and formatting is an important part of podcast production.

- How telling a story, with an actual narrative, can be a successful way to create a podcast.

The Magic Couch

Edgar Blazona, BenchMade Modern

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 797 Edgar Blazona

Edgar Blazona is a modernist American furniture designer and founder of wildly popular DTC sofa brand BenchMade Modern. A high school dropout, turned graffiti artist, turned serial entrepreneur, Edgar got his start in the furniture industry because of need: he was young and broke, and his first apartment didn’t have any furniture. Necessity became invention.

Along with starting several (!) of his own companies, including Modular Dwellings – a prefab backyard shelter company, Edgar also sharpened his skills in the corporate world at Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. As he saw customers accustomed to waiting three months (and more!) for sofas and sectionals that realistically take only a few weeks to make, he realized there must be a better way and founded BenchMade Modern in 2015 to disrupt this norm.

BenchMade Modern offers sofas and sectionals in 5” increments and custom configurations, depths, fabrics and more. Custom furniture arrives at your doorstep within weeks, not months.

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Edgar Blazona about creating magic sofas.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How it’s smart to work for a business that is like the one you want to start.

- Why the traditional way of selling and storing furniture has become archaic.

- How most people don’t want a sofa that can be made faster than it can be delivered.

- Why 10 days is the sweet spot for manufacturing, trucking, and delivery.

- How the pandemic caused people to want to go buy more furniture.

Evolved Profits

Marc Freedman, Evolved Profits

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 779 Marc Freedman

Marc Freedman is a serial entrepreneur, CEO, and best-selling author who loves helping people. He has 40+ years of experience and an extensive network of experts who help businesses answer an important question that each one runs into at one point or another—am I paying more than market price? Sometimes the answer is no. But when the answer is yes, Marc and his team help businesses free up cash so that it can be reinvested into helping employees, growing the business, and creating Social Impact!

Marc believes that, like people, businesses can often fall into ruts. One of those ruts is the mentality that the only way to cut costs is to reduce payroll or cheapen the product. In more than 25,000 audits of businesses of all sizes from a range of industries, Marc and his team have found dozens of expense categories in which businesses can lower their spending without adversely affecting their people or their product.

His first company, Expense To Profit, focused on ensuring that companies paid no more than market price for the products and services that they needed. After saving companies over $1 billion, Marc has extended his vision of helping others with Evolved Profits, where he helps companies not only reduce their spend, but also extend their positive impact on the world by taking 5% of his fees and donating it to an impact fund that companies can apply to a cause-driven project, community contribution, or donation to a charity partner.

Marc’s need to share his expertise with the world also led him to write a book. He is now a #1 Amazon best-selling author in 8 categories, and the book is titled Expense To Profit: Eliminate the Costs that Sabotage Your Growth.

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Marc Freedman about his company Evolved Profits.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How building relationships with people who own businesses can set you up for success.

- How many businesses don’t know they are paying too much for some things.

- How Evolved Profits has helped businesses save billions of dollars.

- Why it’s important for businesses to know why something costs what it costs.

- Why an ambassador program is a great way to bring in new clients.

Shift Your Marketing Thinking

Sean Doyle, FitzMartin Inc

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 778 Sean Doyle

Sean M. Doyle is principal at FitzMartin Inc, a leading consultancy focused on sales marketing and management, sales and marketing technology services, and revenue operations for B2B companies. Sean and his team at FitzMartin are focused on long term value creation through a sales-first, scientific approach to driving revenue.

Sean knows that the split personality of marketing is inhibiting growth aspirations. Budget and impact conversations often become contentious: revenue operation marketers tout their ability to drive sales while brand builders argue for longer-term brand investments. The executive team thinks both struggle to demonstrate the near-term value. It is for this reason that Sean’s team believes a thoughtful and datadriven full-funnel marketing strategy can drive significant value.

Sean’s latest book, Shift, explores 19 practical ideas, grounded in the science of behavioral change, that can transform a business’s marketing efforts and, by natural extension, its profitability. A native Pennsylvanian who’s put down deep Southern roots, Sean is a man of family and faith who strives to be a selfless leader. On weekends, you’ll find him out fishing local streams and teaching the art of fly fishing to anyone who wants to tag along.

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Sean Doyle about shifting how you think about marketing.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How marketing and sales is applied behavioral science.

- How cognitive marketing equips sales and marketing to know when and what to do.

- Why you should find a marketing firm that starts with the late-stage deals that don’t close.

- Why it’s important for you to look at your customers and see what their needs are.

- What full funnel marketing is and how it turns people into customers and fans.

770: How to Avoid Having 12 of Your Most Basic Rights Taken Away

Sherri Stinson, Law Offices of Sherri M. Stinson

– The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 770 Sherri Stinson

Sherri Stinson is the owner of the Law Offices of Sherri M. Stinson, a boutique law firm focusing exclusively on estate planning, guardianship, and probate. The firm's core mission is helping clients feel valued and heard at each stage of their life. From there, the firm custom tailors estate plans to reflect each client's core values and their wishes for a strong, ever-lasting legacy. Sherri helps individuals and families take the mystique out planning for life’s worst-case scenarios of incapacity and death. Her firm also helps protect vulnerable seniors from financial exploitation and neglect.

Sherri first felt the desire to help others when she was in middle school and adopted a lowincome senior for Christmas. Sherri says "I remember the joy I felt when I brought this elderly woman a meal and Christmas presents and she was so grateful. Nobody had ever done anything like that for her before and she cried because I had helped her so much." After graduating college, Sherri helped an elderly woman who was being taken advantage of by her landlord. Sherri says "I was able to involve a consumer advocate who stopped the landlord from continuing to take advantage of her. She had a voice because I helped her. Helping others is the best feeling! I can't solve every problem someone has, but if I can somehow make their lives better, then I have fulfilled my life's purpose."

She is a Martindale-Hubbell AV-Preeminent rated attorney. This rating signifies that her peers rank her at the highest level of professional excellence for her legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards, and is achieved by only 10% of attorneys. She has served as a board member for 211 Tampa Bay Cares, the Rotary Club of Dunedin and the Clearwater Bar Association, as well as the prior chairwoman for the Clearwater Bar Probate Section. She is an active member in her church and lives in Palm Harbor with her husband, Troy and their 2 children.

Listen to this illuminating Sharkpreneur episode with Sherri Stinson about how to avoid having 12 of your most basic rights taken away.

Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week’s show:

- How many people think they only need estate planning if they are rich or have complicated family situations and why that isn’t true.

- Why it’s important to make estate planning decisions so the state doesn’t make them for you.

- How not having an estate plan in place can strip people of their rights.

- Why having an estate plan is voicing what you want to happen to you should you no longer be able to voice that opinion.
