The quote "Everything happens for a reason" is often said when experiencing loss, but can be difficult to hear while grieving. However, traumatic experiences can help individuals grow into who they need to be. In this episode, Liza Spiridon shares her experience of becoming an automatic parent to her nieces after her sister and brother-in-law tragically passed away in a car accident. While the transition to this new normal has been painful, Liza discovered her gift for numerology and uses it to help others through their grief.

Six months ago, Liza's Siblings siblings Greg Ammen and Grace Spiridon-Ammen lost their lives due to the recklessness of a street racer, leaving their twin 7-year old daughters who survived the crash orphaned. The transfer hearing takes place later on this month. Read on for more details and how you can support them by May 12th:

Since the 90s mass shootings have continued to rise in numbers. This year alone, as of April, there have been 179 mass shootings in the US, 16 of which have been school shootings. Fear and anxiety have become the default for our children as we send them to school everyday knowing that their schools are not safe. Change needs to be made, and it’s so important that we continue to speak out on this pressing issue. In this episode, I discuss the heartbreaking reality with a survivor of a shooting which took place in 1998. Mary Hollis Inboden talks about her horrific experience at Westside Middle School when she was only 12. The aftermath of this shooting has traumatized her and her classmates to this day. Mary Hollis lost her best friend Paige,a teacher and classmates on that horrific day. The sad fact is that I had never heard of this particular shooting. Columbine put school shooters on the map and today it’s as if Americans forget each one so easily and move on. These people all have names and families and friends that love and miss them. This episode is heavy but I could not be more proud of Mary Hollis for sharing and hopefully her story will instill change.

The Grieving Process | Feeling Lonely In Your Grief with The Good Mourning Grief Podcast (Revisited)

The Hosts of The Good Mourning Grief Podcast, Sally Douglas and Imogen Carn are todays guests. Both ladies lost their Mothers suddenly and tragically in 2019. Thrown into the unbearable losses in their early thirties was too much to bear. Imogen was also a new mother and felt she was all alone.

We discuss why they started their podcast, how they met and became the best of friends in a grief support group.

Both ladies taught me so much. I was especially touched by the fact that they have turned their pain into purpose. Sal and Im, as they prefer to be called, are on a mission to break the stigma on discussing mental health. I love that their close bond and friendship was started during the most difficult of times. They have now become the best of friends and share their weekly podcast to help others in the midst of loss.

Be sure to pre-order Imogen’s and Sally’s book “Good Mourning” which releases in the US on May 23rd through Amazon!

People often talk about the magic of being a mother, and while it is an incredible and rewarding job, it's also a difficult one. No one knows this better than this episode's guest, Jessica Patay.

Jessica is a mother of three, including a son who has a rare genetic disorder called Prader-Willi syndrome. Due to her firsthand experience with being a caregiver to a child with disabilities, she knows how challenging and isolating it can be, and that is why she founded We Are Brave Together, an organization that creates a community for moms of children with disabilities.

Statistics show 61% of adults have experienced at least one ace (adverse childhood experience) before the age of 18. With the number of people who have had to go through childhood trauma, it’s no wonder that there continues to be a rise in drug addiction as people try and find a way to cope with their past trauma. That's why I am so glad to have author and former model Suki Jones as this episode's guest to have this important discussion.

Growing up Suki dealt with a lot from an abusive alcoholic dad to her parent's constant fighting, to her grandfather molesting her Suki had to deal with so much trauma as a child which led to her beginning to use drugs as early as 13. If you’d like to learn even more about Suki and her journey you can pre-order her book Sea, Swallow Me on Amazon, Apple Books, or Barnes & Noble.

Women are often told how we should act, speak and all the different ways in which we are limited. I am so honored to have this episode's guest, Suzanne Anderson. Suzanne is a psychologist and author of “The Way Of The Mysterial Woman” and “You Make Your Path By Walking” available June 13th. She has dedicated her career to helping women become their strongest, happiest, and best selves. After she lost her husband tragically to suicide she realized she had to learn to grieve and the many ways she can help others on this very difficult path. Her story not only inspired me but helped me put many things I struggle with into perspective.

You can find out more about Suzanne at her website https://mysterialwoman.com which will have the information on her upcoming “Make Your Path B Walking” women’s retreat coming up on Thursday June 8th through Sunday June 11th.

While we are seeing more diversity and inclusivity on our screens, at the same time the world seems to be becoming more and more divided. The entertainment industry is finally taking steps forward in including more and more POC and LGBTQ+ representation the real world seems to be taking a step back. With laws being brought forward that negatively impact the LGBTQ+ community and hate crimes on the rise. The real question is, why is what we’re seeing on screen so different from what happening in today’s society? Tune into this weeks episode with guest, Actor Daryll Stephens, best known for his ground breaking role on the hit show, “Noah’s Arc.”

Many of us have dealt with our fair share of hardships. I know from experience what it’s like to not want to go on any longer. This is why I am so honored to introduce this weeks episode guest, author and narcissistic abuse coach Dr.Lori Monaco.

Having Dealt with her share of narcissistic personalities, and finding herself at an all time low, Lori was able to not only overcome her trauma but help others overcome theirs as well. Lori is the author and collaborator of The Badass series. Her Badass Story 3, contains a collection of stories from different female authors sharing their experiences of overcoming trauma. I am excited to have a chapter in the third book along with 7 other bad ass women. The book is out now and available via Amazon and my website starting next week.

Addiction has always been an issue in the US. With the rise in fentanyl related deaths and increasing number of ads and commercials glamorizing alcohol and other substances addiction and substance abuse has become even more prevalent in today's society. This is why I am so happy to have today's guest addiction Specialist and interventionist Candy Finnigan. In this episode we’ll be discussing what has led Candy to where she is today.

Candy is an addiction specialist and interventionist that you may have seen on A&E’s Intervention. Having been 36 years sober herself Candy knows personally how hard the journey to recovery can be. Nikki DeLoach speaks about her time spent in the entertainment industry and the unforeseen struggles growing up. Though she experienced many challenges, nothing could have prepared Nikki for the day she received the news of her father’s diagnosis.

Nikki was pregnant with her youngest, Bennett, within the same month she found out  her baby had 4 heart defects, her father was diagnosed with a rare form of Alzheimer’s: Pick’s disease. A decision had to be made between saving her baby and seeing her father, the decision was easy but the feelings that came along with them were not.

Being heavily imbued in the entertainment industry cost Nikki time with her father as his days were coming to a close. On his last day, Nikki said her goodbyes, he might not have known her name but knew his daughter.

About Nikki

Born in a small town in South Georgia, Nikki DeLoach always knew she wanted to be an entertainer. She started dancing at the age of three, eventually adding singing, modeling, and acting to her repertoire. Outside of her many talents, DeLoach is dedicated to sharing her passions and ideas with others. She is a passionate supporter and spokesperson for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where she serves on the Foundation Board of Trustees, and The Alzheimer’s Association in honor of her father who recently lost his battle with a rare form of dementia called Pick’s Disease.

Sometimes it can feel like all the cards are stacked against us, like there’s no way to get out of the situation you’ve been dealt. As always on this podcast I want to show people that it does get better and going on is worth it. That’s why I’m So excited for this episode's guest Elaine Mingus who is proof that if you don't give up and you keep fighting there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

From a young age Elaine had many obstacles thrown her way, from being groomed, to developing bulimia, to becoming a drug addict. After all of these trials some would think it’s impossible to get through everything she’s been through. However not only has she gotten through it she has thrived as well. She is now living her best life as a public speaker, business woman, wife, mom of seven, and is even running for Mrs Texas. Elaine is such an inspiration when it comes to overcoming one's trauma and I am so happy I was able to have her on.

Life is always throwing so much at us and sometimes when it knocks us down it's hard to find the will to get back up.This episode's guest author and motivational speaker Rick Werry will be recounting his experience of becoming paralyzed after a near fatal accident and how he got through it. Despite the difficulty of his new situation Rick was able to not only recover but grow.

I'm extremely honored to have had Rick on as this episode's guest. He has accomplished so much after his accident and is a great example of how no matter the hardships it is possible to come out on the other side. You can learn more about Rick’s story in his book Red Letter Days.

As I’m sure many of you know going through adolescence has always had its difficulties. And with the development of social media, online bullying, and the pandemic it has become an even harder time for kids nowadays to navigate. This episode we will be going over the effect the pandemic has had on our children, how we as parents can help with bullying prevention and more with today’s guest licensed marriage and family therapist and clinical counselor Dr. Robert Scholz.

Being a mother of two helping my kids grow up to be caring and kind individuals has always been the most important to me. However, with the internet desensitizing our kids to the effect words can have on others and the pandemic hindering their development being a parent has now become more difficult than ever. With suicide rates in kids rising, they are struggling now more than ever and it is our job to give our kids the tools to help our kids get through it.

I am so happy to have had Dr.Scholz on this episode as he has had over 25 years of experience in counseling and had great insight to give on what's happening with today's youth. It is incredible what he has done for so many people with consulting schools on massive traumas like shootings and bullying, and working on post- prevention. If you'd like any more information on Dr. Scholz you can find out more through his website roberttherapy.com.

I know first hand the struggles that many women face in order to fit society's standard of beauty. Starting as young as elementary school many girls begin diets, take pills, and create unhealthy habits all in order to lose weight. Unfortunately these habits follow us into adulthood and can have a lasting effect on our health as we age. I’m thrilled for you to hear this episode's guest Christina Watkins.

Christina Watkins is a health coach and wellness expert who like many of us has struggled with her weight in the past. Christina felt the pressure to lose weight from a young age. From taking diet pills, doing meal replacement shakes, and pushing herself to the brink in workouts. She learned these unhealthy habits become a cycle, one that proved to negatively affect her health in the years to come.

On today's episode Christina will talk about her past experience with weight loss. Her coaching method will not only help people lose weight but can also help with better sleep, feel rejuvenated, and a healthy way of life. I learned so much in this episode and am excited for my listeners to learn just as much as I did from the wonderful Christina Watkins, and if you'd like to learn more give christina a follow on her instagram @thewellnessconcierges.

Today’s podcast is our 100th episode, and what better way to mark the occasion than having a listener share their story! I am honored to welcome today's guest stand up comedian Kristen Cushman. In this episode Kristen recounts what it was like losing her husband and the process of moving forward after such a tremendous loss. And as soon as I heard her story I knew I had to have her on to share it with all of you.

As it’s the 100th episode I would like to thank you all for listening to the Judging Meghan Podcast! It means the world to me that you all not only tune in but consider it a source of light and strength during trying times. As a mother of two my number one priority is keeping my children safe In a world that is filled with uncertainty. It can be hard navigating how to keep our children safe as well as giving them tools to keep themselves safe. That's why I am so happy to have this episode's guest consent educator Rosalia Rivera.

On today’s episode Rosalia will be going over the importance of teaching our children to set boundaries for themselves. Having conversations about bodily autonomy, consent, and more with our children can be challenging at times but it is so necessary. And Rosalia’s guidance parents can have these conversations with more insight and confidence.

Discussing these topics can especially be triggering for parents who are survivors themselves, Rosalia understands this and provides parents with the tools and resources necessary to teach their kids in a way that feels empowering rather than fear based. Rosalia is such an incredible force who has already helped thousands of parents and I look forward to seeing her continue making this world a safer place for our children. If you’d like more information you can go to her website consentparenting.com where you can find the resources and tools to help guide you while educating your children on body safety as well as her podcast and blog!

As I like to say, one of the most fulfilling things a person can do is take their trauma and use it to help others, and there is no greater example of that than today's guest. Learn about Love Bombing, an emotionally abusive marriage and more with todays Guest Divorce Coach Jackie Miller. I’ll be speaking with Jackie about her past experience in an unhealthy marriage to a narcissist. Through her experiences she hopes to educate women on the warning signs before and during the relationship. I hope this episode reaches anyone who needs it and lets them know that they are not alone in their experience.

After struggling for two years in a High-Conflict Divorce battle Jackie knew she was meant to help others get through the same situation, thus beginning her Journey to becoming a certified divorce coach and consultant. She helps to prepare women in ways she wasn’t by teaching them how to protect themselves, when going through a high-conflict divorce. With Jackie's help Women not only gain tools to use going forward in their battle but they also gain back their power.

Jackie is such a strong individual who I have so much admiration for. I’ll be cheering her on as I watch her continue her journey of helping other women. Want to learn more from Jackie? Head on over to her podcast Out Of Crazy Town Your Guide To Divorcing a Narcissist to learn even more tools about how to get through a high-conflict divorce.

As a young girl I struggled with my body image. Starting at the age of 12 I began noticing and comparing the difference between others' bodies and mine. This is an ongoing struggle that so many  face, especially teens and young adults, with  95% of people with eating disorders being between 12 and 25. It’s because of this that makes what Jeff and Kathy long do so important.

For years, the media has always showcased unrealistic and dangerous body standards, from models in magazines to actresses on TV. However, kids nowadays have even more exposure to these dangerous standards through social media. With filters, Photoshop, and strategically angled photos, an unattainable and unhealthy body has become normalized and desired.

No one understands this issue more than Jeff and Kathy Long. After their daughters' long battle with Anorexia Nervosa, they decided to write their book A Parent's Guide to Anorexia, which includes information on treatment options, support, and more, in order to help guide parents with a child going through Anorexia. Jeff and Kathy are also the founders of Teens 4 Teens Help, which is a nonprofit organization for young people struggling with mental health issues. Teens 4 Teens Help allows young people to share their experiences with recovery peer-to-peer in order to help others recover as well.

Every week I come on this Podcast and talk to you about mental health. I began to feel like a hypocrite coming on here sharing my growth journey, while, secretly, every night I would be “unwinding” with my buttery Chardonnay. Realizing something had to change in my life, I decided to give up my nightly vice and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made!

With the last month's sober journey under my belt, it is no surprise that the universe chose sober coach Casey Davidson as this week's guest on the show. Casey is a Certified Life Coach and a Master Practitioner in Core Energy Leadership who helps other successful women who’ve gotten into the habit of drinking too much or too often, reevaluate their relationship with alcohol, get out of overwhelm, and create lives they love. How amazing is that?!

Casey has given me new found inspiration to continue on this path and to no longer hide my personal relationship with alcohol with the world in shame. I invite you to open yourself up even more through this insightful conversation as we all work together to feel happier, more in control, and at peace.

This week author of a special chapter in the book “Her Badass Story 2”, Rachel Kaufman comes on the show to discuss premature birth and childbirth traumas. Not only is Rachel my former neighbor - we literally grew up next to each other and have been close for years! - But she is a Professional Life Coach, Reflexologist, Usui Reiki Master, and Mahatma Reiki practitioner. She studied the art and science of essential oils, aromatherapy, and other modalities, including acupressure and Shamanic techniques. Rachel also earned an MPH in International Public Health and worked in that field for many years.

Rachel founded Integrated Healing Vibes to fulfill her dream of working as a healer, life coach, and teacher/mentor. Her unique blend of skills and experience allows her to access many tools from her “toolbelt” and tailor each session to what the client needs the most at that moment.

Rachel was born to be a healer, connector, and protector.

She is known among her peers, clients, and friends to be warm-hearted, caring, intuitive, and a good listener. She encourages clients to listen to and trust themselves, their intuition, and the universe! When in “healer mode,” Rachel often offers clients suggestions on ways they can practice self-care. With her coaching “hat” on, she partners with clients to guide them in finding the answers already within themselves. Join us this week on the show and see how Rachel’s own pregnancy story can guide you in your journey.

From the minute Julie and I met we were best friends. I always had this joke that I was the devil on the shoulder and she was the angel because she was always bailing me out of trouble. Her family and her home welcomed me in during a time that my own home had become such a place of hardship. I didnt want to remember what it was like to go home because my dad was gone my mom was grieving. Julie and her family were a second family and an escape for me.

Julie’s death shattered the foundation of my world and it was completely avoidable.

On this episode, Julie’s little sister Christiane Crowder joins me to have a candid conversation about the loss of Julie when she was only 29 years old. This week I invite you to experience our joy, pain and the heartbreak of moving forward as we reminisce about someone we loved so dearly.

This episode is a topic I have never discussed on the show, so when I bumped into Liza Blas on Instagram, I knew I had to bring her on the show. Liza is an Empowerment Coach extraordinaire, mentor, and I quickly realized we have a lot of things in common.

Not only is Liza a fellow podcaster – her podcast Very Happy Stories, Heal with Liza Blas invites inspiring guests to share stories of healing and to help listeners become the most empowered versions of themselves – but Liza is also a fellow mother.

Her life and her family have been impacted by mental illness, neurodiversity, Lyme disease, and even PANS (Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome). Through navigating the challenges of raising two very unique kids and dealing with her own severe depression, Liza provides empathy, validation, and hope to parents with similar struggles.

Today is probably the most important episode I have ever recorded. Michelle Leopold was a mom living her normal life until the most horrifying thing happened to her family - the death of her son, Trevor.

She tells the story of this handsome, outgoing, loved teenager who started out by smoking pot. This didn't alarm her until she realized that the pot we smoked when we were younger is much different than what is sold today. This was his gateway drug to what ultimately killed him.

We learn about how fentanyl is added to street pills to get a bigger high. The CDC estimates that 2 out of 5 street pills include fentanyl that the user doesn't even realize is there.

Michelle shares the story of Trevor’s passing at just 19. She is determined to educate every parent of the dangers of how easily these pills can be accessed. One pill taken and his life was over. Michelle says that she keeps going determined to live in Trevor’s memory and help others.

Del Adey-Jones is a co-dependency and narcissistic abuse recovery coach and best-selling author with a foundation as a 3 Principles Practitioner. Shunned by her father and raised in an environment surrounded by mentally tormented individuals that fostered feelings of orphancy, illegitimacy, shame and low self-esteem.

People that suffer from codependency tend to end up in traumatic and dangerous narcissistic relationships. Many are unaware of their codependent tendencies they have that are attracting narcissists.

This week, Del talks to us about what she has learned throughout her own traumas that have helped her help others recover from their own self-sabotaging behavior patterns. Instead of trying to change our partners, we can change the way we show up and present ourselves to the world that actually repels those narcissists away from you once and for all.

Lace Flowers has had a life filled with trauma and uncertainty. From an abusive relationship in her childhood that led to a pattern of several abusive relationships in her adolescence and into adulthood, suffering a near-fatal car accident, and a boyfriend who committed suicide.

Lace Flowers is exactly who I needed to hear from this week, as suicide awareness month is coming to a close. Through all of her life experiences, Lace has become a Freedom From Self Sabotage Expert, and so I took full advantage of our time together to get some valuable wisdom from someone who has lived what she now teaches.

Join me in this conversation with Lace Flowers as she guides us through her unbelievable journey of overcoming the past to become a successful business owners coach who helps others leave negative cycles and self-doubt behind so they can embody their true confidence and authenticity to attract abundant wealth, health and success in business and beyond.

Have you ever spent so much time on self-work and are almost to a point of “feeling healed” when a certain person or situation triggers you so dramatically that you feel like you have to practically start over? Are you struggling with forgiving the past, others, or yourself? Is the difficult process of finding forgiveness holding you back from true freedom and a future?

This week I dive into the murky waters of forgiveness with award-winning author, keynote speaker, and vulnerable storytelling expert, Meagan O’Nan.

Meagan is the author of the award-winning book, “Creating Your Heaven on Earth,” and “Courage: Agreeing to Disagree Is Not Enough.” Her third book is on it's way and will be published in January 2023. Meagan is also a member of the Forbes Coaches Council where she produces regular content for Forbes.com.

Forgiveness is not a simple topic and certainly not something that can be “all figured out” in a one hour podcast. But, much like Meagan’s story shows us, even cracking the window open a little bit on this conversation and letting that part of you – the part that you thought was completely past all hope of moving forward in a situation – see that full-circle healing might actually be possible, could be that first baby step into your unburdened future. I know it has been one for me.

I hope you come out of this week’s conversation much like I have, with a lot more clarity about what forgiveness truly means and looks like for you.

This week’s guest has revolutionized the way I think about my relationship with food. Her name is Niki Sibera, and she is the founder of Happy Hearted Eating and is known lovingly as a “Food Freedom Architect”.

Niki joins me on the show this week to share what she has learned in her heart-healing work over the last 30 years. Niki opens up about her traumatic childhood experiences, which include her dad’s domestic violence and alcoholism, her mother’s two cancer diagnoses and subsequent death, her step-father’s sexual abuse, and her lack of stability growing up - moving 10 different times and going to 9 different schools all by the age of 15.

Through her journey, Niki shows us how she has been able to transform into being a fierce guide and mentor for women, specializing in helping women feel free “to learn how to tame the whispers from the fridge.” She’s opened my eyes to exploring what’s behind the eating, to see how my own “trauma monster” has taken over my heart and how I cope.

Let's get out of the bondage of shame and come into the light together. You are loved!  This week's conversation has enlightened me to a new way of thinking about how I relate to food and to myself, because I have struggled myself with my relationship with food, yo yo dieting etc….. Niki is a refreshing light!

I wanted to get to the root of why kids become bullies. Since it is the start of a new school year, I thought it was the perfect subject.  Today's guest, Joe Constantine, is a life coach from Colorado who specializes in Anti-Bullying. His company,  Breakaway Scores works with kids that suffer with bullying and mental health issues. He is also a survivor of bullying himself, when I saw his bio I had to reach out.

Joe shared a bit of his own story being bullied so bad as a kid that he turned to Suicide as a way out. He also was being beaten up at home by an older brother. He decided he wanted to live his life trying to help kids that met the same fate and try to make a difference.

I wanted to have a real conversation about why this is happening so often with kids. Listen as we talk about why kids bully and how we can protect our kids and teach them to deal with it and speak up.

Today my guest, Caia DelaVergne, tells her story. In 2015, she was shot in the head along with another friend. Her story is one of survival but also how Caia went on to become a Mom and not let her story define her life. Caia has actively worked through her trauma in numerous ways and has gone on to share her story to help other shooting victims.
She has gone on to become a spokesperson for Moms Demand Action. Her story is one of bravery and resilience and I am beyond honored to have her on my podcast.

her  own pain. After 30 years she was ready to tell people what really happened and finally be free of the pain she was carrying.

I was honored to meet Jan. I am sure my listeners will be inspired by her tenacity and courage to never give up.

Jan Canty's world was upended when her husband didn't come home one night. She later learned he had been connected with a pimp and a prostitute - giving them money hand over fist - leaving her massively in debt.

After having to identify his body and being hounded by the media during his salacious trial, she needed to discover her why. The  journey was one of trauma and betrayal, but she was unable to grieve for years.

This week, I had the pleasure of talking to Kim Toller, the host of A Million Other Choices Podcast. She was inspired to start her podcast after the murder of her niece in 2018.  And her interest in true crime quickly turned into an obsession that drove Kim to help others that may have been touched with similar tragedies.

On her podcast, she largely covers Canadian Cases. She has a special connection with the victims and their families because she understands what they are going through and wants everyone's story to be heard. It was an honor to speak to Kim. Her beautiful niece Taylor’s memory is kept alive through Kim and her story.

Today on The Judging Meghan Podcast, we are honored to have Author, Comedian and Speaker, Michael Gershe . Michael is a survivor of a drunk driving crash that killed his mother and nearly killed him at 8 weeks old. Michael has used his powerful and inspirational story with just a bit of humor to speak all over the United States.

Although he broke nearly every bone in his body in the crash, he overcame multiple surgeries and became a collegiate swimmer, college educator, entertainer and author.  Michael found himself in the depths of major depression and PTSD in 2016. I was beyond inspired to meet such a wonderful man.

His book, The Magic of Life, is available on Amazon.

This week, I talk to local Hermosa Beach, California  residents, filmmaker and activist, Heidi Swan and former city council member, Carolyn Petty.  We talk about the little known link between teen marijuana use and adult schizophrenia, as well as the increasing incidences of depression and anxiety. Marijuana has been found in many cases to be a gateway drug to many more severe drugs and even suicide in recent years.

I wanted to shed some light on this topic due to the legalization and dispensaries popping up in what seems like every town in California. I had no idea about some of these frightening statistics. We also discuss the importance of labeling, the risks so parents understand how they can get involved.  I have spoken about this topic in a past episode with Michelle Leopold, who lost her son to a fentanyl overdose in 2019.  I hope you listen and share this episode.

Martin Lockett came from an impoverished background, he still always felt loved. Even though money was tight, he never felt like he was lacking. They encouraged him to get involved in sports and school, because they knew the lure of the streets at that time was very strong. Even with all of this on his side, he wanted to belong somewhere and fit in, which led to his first experience with drinking and drugs.

That experience helped him to break out of his shyness, which lead to more drugs and hanging out with the wrong people. While he felt like he belonged, he didn't feel like himself, which left him torn. One particular night out led to deadly consequences. Martin found himself behind the wheel tired and ran a red light. The aftermath was the death of two people. The two people he killed spent much of their time helping others and happened to be sober activists. A columnist who was covering the accident said, "Perhaps the person they will have ended up helping the most is the man who's charged with killing them." Martin knew his life as he knew it was over, but that quote stayed in his head for years to come.

My guest today is Roxanne Faire. We delve into her story of her rough childhood growing up outside of Chicago. Her life was not easy growing up. Her parents struggled financially but she knew her mothers love.

She always felt something was off and there was something her mother wasn’t telling her. Roxanne discovered at age 14 that the man she called her father was not her biological father. Her mother hid the identity of her real Dad to protect her. She struggled for many years to learn that she was born after her mother had been raped at the age of 27.

Roxanne is a true fighter and survivor. She has only recently learned her Fathers true identity.  She is sharing her story to help other women.

Today I have the pleasure of having the host of Let the Good Things In Show with Amanda Acker. I was drawn to her positivity and wanted to have her on my show to tell us about her story. After her parents divorced, it started a cycle of family and emotional trauma that continued for years. Her senior year in high school took her from a top student to barely graduating and regularly drinking alcohol, which led to promiscuity - all in an effort to get the attention of her dad. Her attention and love seeking continued for years, which included a time in prison, giving up her children, and abusing drugs.

We talk about how we are not defined by our past and her healing journey that has included starting her podcast, and connecting with others who have also found themselves incarcerated.

Listen and learn from this strong woman about how you can find the good in everything - even in a traumatic past.
