Papa Bear asks Bernice if she can help him to bake some cookies to share and she says of course. After they look for all the ingredients they get started making them. The special cookie recipe they're using is in the show notes, so you can make these super yummy cookies too!

Red Velvet Delight Chocolate Chip Cookies 

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup white sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 tablespoon red food colouring

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions:

- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

- In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until creamy and fluffy.

- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.

- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.

- Stir in the semi-sweet and white chocolate chips.

- Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.

- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely

Jake is so tired. He is busy swimming and is having a hard time sleeping because he would rather watch his favourite show. Tessa and Spotty the Pig is a story about a little girl and her beloved pet. Tessa first sees Spotty shortly after the piglets are born and she decides right away that Spotty needs her help. Tessa convinces her parents to let her look after Spotty and later on to even bring Spotty into the house. When Spring comes and Spotty has grown quite big Tessa’s parents say it might be time to put Spotty out in the pen with all the other pigs. Tessa doesn’t agree but doesn’t know how to change her parents minds.

Puddles and Betsy have gone to look for the apple trees that Betsy remembers seeing as she was wandering over to Farmer Vernon’s farm. Bernice is very excited and can’t wait for her day to begin. She wakes Papa Bear at 5 am, but he tells her he needs another 30 minutes and will make her breakfast. When Papa Bear comes down, he asks Bernice why she is so excited about today. They talk about what Bernice has done already this summer and would still like to do.

In this fine chapter Slicko is back in Bob’s house after having run away and she is down in the kitchen to get a drink. Slicko sees a man that she thinks is Bob’s father so she runs over to say hello but it is not Bob’s father and the man is frightened. The man thinks Slicko is a rat and calls out waking Bob’s father who turns on the lights to see who is yelling in his house.

Slicko has smelled Spring and ran away from Bob and her cage. She runs up a tree and hides, but when it is time to eat, she cannot find any food anywhere. Slicko finds her way into the attic of Bob’s house after a long night of rain and cold and falls asleep. When she wakes up, it is dark, and she goes downstairs to get a drink. When she gets to the kitchen, she sees a man and thinks it is Bob’s father. They are both about to get a surprise.

Slicko is happy in her box. She has lots of nuts, water, and a soft place to sleep, but she is excited to see her new cage. Slicko doesn’t know what a cage is, and when Bob, the boy, brings out a large wire thing, she is not so sure she will like it. Bob puts Slicko into the cage, and she sees a large wheel inside. Bob is determined to get Slicko to run on it, and Slicko thinks she’ll never touch it. How is this going to work?

Slicko and Mappo looked at the circus until some men came out and then they both ran away. Slicko has gathered some nuts to put into Aunt Whitey’s nest and gathering more when she hears a crashing sound coming through the forest. It is Tum Tum the elephant but Tum Tum is afraid of Slicko. Slicko remembers what Mappo told her about Tum Tum and quickly tells him that she is not a mouse or a rat. After this they chat for a while until Tum Tum has to return to the circus. Slicko decides to go and look for more nuts after a ride on Tum Tum’s back.
