Yasir Qadhi

Shaykh Yasir talks about the Du'a that is found from Surah Ale-Imran which is at its conclusion. "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding. Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.Our Lord, indeed whoever You admit to the Fire - You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous.Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise." The Prophet ﷺ would recite these Duas before praying Tahajjud. A comprehensive explanation is provided for each of the last ten verses and is something not to be missed.

Shaykh Yasir talks about the Du'a that is found at the end of Surah Al-Baqarah which is one of the most important Dua of the entire Qur'an. It contains the best Ayah in the Quran which is Ayat Ul Kursi. Recite the two illuminated chapters, Surat al-Baqarah and Al Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds pleading for their companions. We should also recite these ayaat - last Khawatim of Surah Baqarah before going to sleep. What does it say ? listen intently and be left mesmerized.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi talks about multiple duas one can make for their children and benefit them. Surah Al Furqan , Verse 74 - "And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous." This dua asks for comfort in a religious and worldly sense for children. Surah As Saffat ,Verse 100 - "My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." Surah Ibrahim, Verse 40 - "My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication." Surah Maryam , Verse 5 - "And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir." Surah Ahqaf , Verse 15 - "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."

Shaykh Yasir talks about the Du'a from Surah Al Muminun which he acquaints us with and implores us to use often. "Indeed, there was a party of My servants who said, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.'" [Surah Al Muminun, Verse 109]

Shaykh Yasir discusses the Du'a we must make for our parents. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.” [Surah al-Isra, Verse 24] The mother and the father is the widest door to Jannah as said by the Prophet ﷺ. There are numerous Hadith that reassert the supreme status of the parents which is next only to Allah and the Prophet ﷺ.

Shaykh Yasir talks about the Du'a of the Prophet ﷺ for Hijrah. Say: “O my Lord! let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Thy Presence an authority to aid (me).” [Surah 17, Verse 80] The meaning of Maqam Al Mahmud which is the praiseworthy station and is explained with immense clarity and should be listened to intently and is something not to be missed.

Du'a for Blessings Everywhere We Go

Shaykh Yasir discusses the Du'a of Prophet Musa.  'O Allah! Make my heart at ease..'[Surah Taha -Verses 25-35] The first act of worship that Musa [AS] does is dua directly addressing Allah SWT. We can derive important things from this Dua: To make his heart tranquil and at ease.To make this affair easy for him.To solve his problem of stuttering.To give him a helper from his own family.To make his helper a Prophet along with him being a Prophet too.

Shaykh Yasir talks about the dua of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Musa and the lessons to imbibe and inculcate from these magnificent duas. ‘O Allah! Don’t make us a Fitnah for the Kafir’ [Surah Yunus , Verses 85-86] What does it imply?  Don’t punish us at the hands of the Kafir like Firaun. Don't make us a test for them. Do not make them win over us and torture us. Do not allow the kafir to see something in us that makes him reject Islam. Do not make me a Fitnah for the kafir. Do not make us failures even in this Dunya because this will be used as an interpretation for them to believe that our religion is backward.

Shaykh Yasir divulges 3 impediments that prevents our duas from being accepted. One whose heart is oblivious from the dua. Issue of Haram food and drink obtained from Haram sources of money - not earning Halal Rizq. Hastiness in dua and stopping of making dua.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with immense clarity the following dua for protection against Shaytan in the Qur'an. And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils,And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me. [Surah Al Muminun, Verses 97 - 98] This lecture explicitly illustrates the need for Istia'dhah before reciting the Qur'an. Also,  the wisdom behind creating the entity called Shaytan is as follows: Allah is manifesting the diversity of His Qudrah. To have an actual and real enemy that is alive which will make us more conscious and aware of our actions. Good is only appreciated when it is contrasted with the evil. True piety will only shine in this circumstance. The tactics used by Shaytan to allure us are also discussed in immense detail and makes for  a very interesting listen.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi talks about Allah's promise in answering dua. One of the most powerful verses in the Qur'an that ascertains the acceptability of any dua is as follows. ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ  Call on Me, I will answer your prayer. [Surah Ghafir, 40:60] There are three ways in which a dua is accepted. You will get what you want You will get something equivalent for the dua you asked Any calamity that was in your way will be averted The Shaykh implores us to never be stingy in asking duas to Allah. The more you ask Allah, the more He will love us.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the next aspects of Tawassul that can make our duas to Allah. One of the most powerful mechanisms to make a dua is by using the Names of Allah while making dua to Allah so as to invoke effectiveness of the dua. Two Names of Allah applicable in any dua that are equally valid - Allahumma and Rabbana. The dua made by Zakariyyah AS for a child is the best example of using the appropriate name of Allah - وَزَكَرِيَّا إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِي فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْوَارِثِينَ O my Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the Inheritors. [Surah Ambiya, 21:89] It is also acceptable to let someone of a high status of piety, righteousness and religiosity to make dua on our behalf.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the following Dua made by Musa AS. "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need." [Surah Al Qasas, verse 24] The context of this Dua is the famous story of Musa AS fleeing from Firaun. Listen intently to fully fathom the scene of the story that prompted this Dua. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi talks about a Du'a that can be used to ask Allah, to keep you firm.  "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower." [Surah Ale Imran , Verse 8] This dua is very important to be forever and firmly guided and not to be misguided once we have achieved Hidayah. The Prophet (SAW) always made Dua to Allah to never be misguided and to stand firm on the path of Hidayah. So our stand should be even firmer on this Dua.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses a dua that is recited by the righteous in times of distress and patience.  This verse was recited by the magicians at the time of standing at the face of imminent torture and death in the time of Firaun. "رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ" "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." [Surah Al-A'raf ,Verse 126]   Patience is the main mechanism we use to cope with the troubles of this world. Allah will help with two mechanisms - patience and salaah.  "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people." [Surah Al Baqarah - verse 250] This dua was recited when the mighty army of Jalooth was approaching the Muslims.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the dua to make to ask Allah to increase one’s knowledge. "My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge." [Surah Taha, Verse 114] There is so much wisdom and power in these simple three words that it never ceases to amaze humanity. Allah tells us that the status of the Prophet (SAW) is so great because of the immense knowledge that Allah blessed him with. We should always be more eager to gain knowledge. Is this only restricted only to Islamic knowledge? Allah has given importance of both. But the emphasis is on spiritual knowledge as this is the one which makes us better human beings and brings us closer to Allah.

In the Salah itself such as in the Sajdah, before the Tasbeeh and after the Tasbeeh. The time right before we break the fast. The Dua of Laylatul Qadr.

Shaykh Yasir discusses another important dua that found and mentioned within the Glorious Qur'an. In this Surah, Allah praises the Muhajirun and the Ansar and Allah gives us who came after them a chance to come close to them in terms of good deeds. "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful." [Surah al Hashr, verse 10] Had it not been from their victories and sacrifices, we would never have been part of this great religion - Islam. Hence, it is binding upon us to always make this dua to uphold their contributions in the upliftment of Islam. If we have a pure heart devoid of jealousy and rancor, we have a chance of attaining closeness to the Sahabah.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ most common and comprehensive dua.  "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." [Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:201] This dua is very profound and widespread in its reach and we must fully comprehend the magnitude of this dua to obtain its benefits.

Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi now unravels that famous dua that caused a miracle.  رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا  "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance." [Surah Al-Kahf, 18:10] This dua should be the go to fix before commencing anything new in one’s life or when one is in difficult circumstances. Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi divulges in immense detail , a powerful fiqh discussion on eliminating moon sighting deviance and paving the way for a start to Ramadan and Eid based on the good old calculations. The basis of all the assumptions should not supersede to maintain unity amongst the Muslim Ummah and avoid disputes of any sort , thus, deviating from the Sunnah.

Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the most oft-repeated dua in the whole world. This dua is from Surah Al Fatihah - Ihdinas Siraatul Mustaqeem. This dua is recited upto 30 times a day just via Salat. So imagine the reach and profundity of this verse! Among the etiquette of dua is to praise Allah in terms of His Names and Attributes first before jumping onto your request to Allah. Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah SWT said: I have divided prayer between myself and my servant into two halves, and my servant shall have what he has asked for. When the servant says ‘all praise is due to Allah the Lord of the worlds,’ Allah says: My servant has praised me. When he says ‘the Gracious, the Merciful,’ Allah says: My servant has exalted me. When he says ‘the Master of the Day of Judgment,’ Allah says: My servant has glorified me and my servant has submitted to me. When he says ‘you alone we worship, you alone we ask for help,’ Allah says: This is between me and my servant, and my servant will have what he has asked for. When he says ‘guide us to the straight path, the path of those whom you have favored, not those who went astray,’ Allah says: This is for my servant, and my servant will have what he has asked for.” Listen intently to this video to fully fathom the stature of Surah Al Fatihah.

Shaykh Yasir acquaints us with some specific duas from the Qur'an and Sunnah. The first in this series is the dua of Adam [AS]. "قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ" They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers." [Surah Al A'raf, 7:23] The first act that Adam [AS] did of worship was making dua. Dua is the essence of worship. Only the true believer makes dua to Allah. The Shaykh explicitly narrates the meaning of this dua - who we are calling, acknowledging our own shortcomings and much more.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now gives us valuable information in his next lecture on the 5th and 6th wife of the Prophet ﷺ - Zaynab bint Khuzayma RA and Umm Salama RA. Zaynab bint Khuzayma RA She belonged to the Hawashim tribe. Her mother was Hind bint Awf ibn Al Harith and Maymunah bint Al Harith RA and Umm Fadhl RA were her stepsisters. Her first husband is Tufayl Ibn Haritha RA and he is a prominent figure in the history of Islam with him being the first to die a Shaheed in the way of Islam whilst returning from the Battle of Badr due to worsening of his cut off leg. Her marriage to the Prophet ﷺ  took place in the month of Ramadan 3 H, just a few weeks after his marriage to Hafsa RA. her Kunya was Umm Al Masakeen. This came to be because she would always feed the poor and orphans. She died in the month of Rabi Ul Akhira , 4 H of natural causes and just after a few months of her marriage to the Prophet ﷺ. We have zero narrations from Zaynab Bint Khuzaimah RA in the Seerah. Zaynab is the only wife whom the Prophet ﷺ prayed the Janaza for and she is the among the first to be buried in Jannatul Baqee. Umme Salamah RA Her actual name was Hind Abu Umayya ibn Al-Mughira. She belonged to the tribe of the Banu Makhzum. Khalid ibn Al Waleed was her cousin. She was married to Abu Salamah who was from the tribe of Banu Asad. She had four children: Salama, Umar, Zaynab and Durrah. Abu Salama died after the Battle of Uhud. When she was proposed for marriage by the Prophet ﷺ, she did not accept the proposal immediately citing reasons of age, jealousy and existing children. A beautiful reply was given by the Prophet ﷺ and makes for a mesmerising listen. At least 2 verses of the Qur'an came in the house of Umme Salamah RA. What are they? Please do listen carefully. The famous incident of Umme Salamah RA wisdom is depicted in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. The last of the mothers to pass away is Umme Salamah who dies in 61 H during the Khilafat of Yazid Ibn Muawiyah and is the second most copious narrator of Hadith. She was the only wife of the Prophet ﷺ to be alive when the massacre of Hussain RA happened.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi moves on to delve details on the 4th Ummahat Ul Momineen - Hafsa Bint Umar Ibn Al Khattab RA. Hafsah was born in the year of the building of the Kaaba and was born 5 years before the Prophethood. She was the eldest child of Umar ibn al-Khattab and Zainab bint Madh'uwn.Abdullah Ibn Umar is her full brother. Before the marriage to Prophet ﷺ, she was married to Khunais ibn Hudhaifa and she had no children from this union. Khunais died after the battle of Badr , though he was not  a participant of the same. Hafsa RA was married to the Prophet ﷺ after he himself proposed for her hand in marriage. She got married in the month of Shaban, 3 H at the age of 21. What do we know about the life of Hafsa RA with the Prophet ﷺ? Numerous incidents are brought to the table and we fully comprehend the nature of the marriage that it was. We also gather valuable insights on the reason for the revelation of Surah At Tahreem and we acquaint ourselves with the incident that transpired between Hafsa Ra and the Prophet ﷺ revolving around Maria RA. Also, next in line for discussion is the topic of the divorce of Hafsa RA and the reason for this divorce. The whole city was grieving at this news and her father, Umar Ibn Al Khattab RA took it the hardest. What made the Prophet ﷺ reconcile and go back to Hafsa RA? It was due to Allah sending Jibril AS to the Prophet ﷺ with the clear message saying that Hafsa is the one who fasts and prays regularly and that she will be his wife in this life and the Hereafter. One of the biggest blessings and privileges that is ascribed to Hafsa RA is the entrustment of the first Mushaf ever written with her and which remained in her care till her death. She has 60 Hadith narrated by her. She died at the age of 60 years in 45 H during the reign of Muawiyah. The Janazah was led by Marwan Ibn Hakam.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi closes the lecture on Aisha Bint Abu Bakr RA in this final part and we gather numerous insights via numerous Hadiths. Aisha RA was given the Kunya - Umme Abdullah on her insistence to the Prophet ﷺ and she was nicknamed by him as Humaira’ or the 'Little Red One' which was basically to emphasize her beauty as is also mentioned in numerous Hadith. Of the matters of Aisha RA is that she was the most knowledgeable of the Ummahat Ul Mumineen or the Faqiha of Islam and she was a treasure of knowledge pertaining to Islam, Fiqh, theology, hadith and Aqeedah. She is among the top 4 narrators of Hadith having recorded a stunning 2200 in number. It is considered to be the most authentic as well since it is quoted directly from the Prophet ﷺ and not like the other Sahabas who have their narrations from other Sahabas. She was also the epitome of eloquence and she has numerous poetry to her credit. She was also a herbal doctor of sorts and numerous sick children would be brought to her for treatment. She also performed Ruqyah. She was also admired for her deep questioning and analytical skills as is evident from her questions asked regarding verses in the Qur'an and the Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ. She has also given clarifications and rectified numerous Fatwas from other Sahabas in matters relating to application of perfume before donning the Ihram, on the necessity of untying the hair of a woman while doing Ghusl when she is in a state of Janaba, the necessity to do Wudu again on kissing one’s spouse and so on and so forth. The relationship that was between Aisha RA and Ali RA is also elaborated upon and we get the gist of it not being a smooth one. However, it never crossed the boundaries of Islam and each one refrained from making any untoward comments about each other and treated each other with utmost respect and dignity. The actual age of Aisha RA is a topic of dispute and is put to rest by elaborating on the pointers that authenticate this very point. It makes for a very interesting listen and we can actually come to terms with it beautifully. Aisha RA died during the reign of Muawiyah on the 17th of Ramadan, 58 H. Her Janazah prayer was done after Taraweeh after the Witr prayer by the senior most sahaba of the time - Abu Huraira RA. Her nephews Abdullah Ibn Zubair and Urwa Ibn Zubair RA and her grandnephews lowered her body into the grave and she was buried in the blessed Jannatul Baqee.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges details on the numerous benefits of Ramadan. Primary among these is - Taqwa - which can be attained through fasting.  In our quest to achieve Taqwa, we need to exercise patience at all stages and hope and pray that Allah will shower His infinite blessings upon us which will make it all worth it.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses the conclusion of Surah Yusuf and the relevance of the Surah in the context of the story. Verses 105 to 111 of Surah Yusuf are recited. How many miracles and signs are present in front of us to ascertain the bounties given to us by Allah SWT, yet we completely ignore? Why do we do this? Not that they deny God, but they worship other than Allah SWT. Do they feel safe and secure in this world when we hear and witness the numerous punishments of Allah SWT on a daily basis? The followers of the Prophet ﷺ will follow the call to Allah alone with a firm knowledge. Why are we surprised when we have Messengers coming from time to time to spread the message of Islam, the Book of Allah and the Oneness of Allah SWT? The abode of the Hereafter is better than anything else of this temporary world. In the stories of Surah Yusuf, there is a wisdom and a point of benefit for the one who seeks to benefit from them.these are true stories and affirm that which came before it.  The Qur'an is a guidance and a mercy for those who believe. What are the values to be imbibed and inculcated from this magnificent story? Listen intently.

Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the six major battles that were won by Muslims during the month of Ramadan and the lessons we comprehend from these historical battles. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi recites the verses 99 to 104 of Surah Yusuf which is the conclusion of the story of Yusuf AS. The return of Yaqub AS with his family to Egypt and the reunion with his beloved son, Yusuf AS was a beautiful one. Yusuf AS hugged his parents tight and it was an emotional union and he raised his parents on to the throne of the kingdom to honour and respect them. When he did this, all of the 11 brothers and parents fell in prostration to Yusuf AS, thus, bringing his dream as a child to a full circle of interpretation as it achieves actuality. The practice of prostration to another human being as a predominant sign of respect was only valid until the time of Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ forbade this vehemently in his time.  Prophet Yusuf AS was full of gratitude for the fact that he could provide his family with comfort and respect. The perfection of the character of Yusuf AS comes to the fore when he avoids mentioning the sins committed by his brothers to avoid causing them distress. Yusuf AS mentions an Attribute of Allah. Allah is Al Lateef. What does this mean? Yusuf AS makes a powerful Dua at this juncture. What is this beautiful Dua? It is something not to be missed and makes for a very mesmerising listen.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi ponders on the typology of Salafism pre and post Arab Spring whilst demonstrating historic trends. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses verses 92 to 98 of Surah Yusuf where we gather information on how Yusuf AS is finally reunited with his parents. Yusuf AS informs his brothers that no blame is on them in order to avoid hurting them which depicts the solid character of Yusuf AS. This brings the Shaykh to shed light on the two types of sins that man commits. Patience and perseverance will give us the rewards of Allah. Yusuf AS gives his shirt to the brothers and tells them to throw this shirt on their father which he promises will give his eyesight back. The shirt that caused his father immense grief and misery is the one that will eventually cure him.  When the shirt is brought to Yaqub AS, he smells the scent of Prophet Yusuf AS and is elated at the prospect of his son coming back to him. But his sons attribute his smelling of Yusuf AS to senility and trivialise his stature owing to senility. The brothers seek forgiveness from their father Yaqub AS, their brother Yusuf AS and most important of all, Allah SWT. But their father delayed the forgiveness of the brothers. Why was this done? Listen intently.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now discusses from verse 83 of Surah Yusuf about the moving passage of Yaqub AS on what he did after being confronted by the brothers and their divulging of information of the capture of Bin Yameen and the self exile imposed by the oldest brother upon himself. Yaqub AS responds to the accusations by saying that the brothers have concocted a story up and this can never be true what they were saying. He prays for the best form of patience by not complaining and seek the guidance of Allah in sorting matters off. He is optimistic which portrays his strong Iman. Allah is Al Aleem and Al Hakeem. The grief of Yaqub AS when he remembers his son Yusuf AS so much from 20 to 30 years is so immense that Yaqub AS went blind by crying and grief. The brothers criticised their father for remembering Yusuf AS no end. The father responds by saying that his grief is only told by him to Allah and he is no need for his sons sympathy. What does he tell his sons to do next? Listen intently and be mesmerised.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi sheds light on what the brothers did after giving such a strict and solemn oath to their father of protecting Bin Yameen against all odds by reciting verses 71 to 82 of Surah Yusuf. The brothers dissociated themselves from Bin Yameen on learning of the theft and also, compare him to their brother Yusuf AS of being a thief. What blatant lies on their part! After the initial part of dissociation, the brothers appeal to Yusuf AS to take one of them as his slave and release Bin Yameen due to his father’s immense love for him. This also depicts the good nature of the brothers in their will to sacrifice themselves for the sake of their brother. The oldest brother now recollects the harsh and painful memories of the past where they had mistreated their brother Yusuf AS and promises to exile himself in Egypt until this matter is resolved either by his father or Allah Almighty. The brothers explain the entire series of events citing evidence to their father, Yaqub AS on returning to Palestine. But it was difficult to believe them? Why so? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now moves on to discuss verses 68 to 76 of Surah Yusuf in which he divulges details on how Yusuf AS manages to keep Bin Yameen with him. Hospitality was at its fore on the part of Yusuf AS in the form of a banquet for his brothers. On some pretext, Yusuf AS confided in his brother of being his older full brother and also shares the atrocities meted out by their other brothers against Yusuf AS. He takes Bin Yameen into confidence. Why did Yusuf AS want to keep Bin Yameen with him? Why did Yusuf AS not call out for his father immediately when he was in a position of power and influence? The only sane explanation is that Prophet Yusuf AS would only do as was sanctioned to him by Allah SWT since Yusuf AS was a Prophet. Yusuf AS put a cup of the king in the bag of Bin Yameen and then the person from within the palace accuses the caravan people of theft. What transpires next? Listen intently to find out.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues his lecture on the most beloved wife of the Prophet ﷺ - Aisha Bint Abu Bakr RA. The Shaykh commences this lecture by analysing the beautiful relationship that the Prophet ﷺ and Aisha RA shared and there are numerous instances in their lifetime that illustrate this very fact. Some are elaborated upon and deserve a fair listen like the special dua that the Prophet ﷺ made for Aisha RA upon her insistence. Numerous narrations explicitly shed light upon the immense love that the Prophet ﷺ had for Aisha RA over his other wives. One instance is when the Prophet ﷺ realizes his death is near and he wants to prepare Aisha RA to part with him. What does he say? What is the response of Aisha RA to this ? Do listen to fully comprehend this pleasing incident which demonstrates the nature of their affection for each other. Next up for discussion is the Ghiyarah of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ and how this was completely natural of them to have and is also showing the innocence and love for the Prophet ﷺ and they will not be pulled up for it by Allah SWT. There were two groups of wives - one group had Aisha, Hafsa, Safiya and Sawdah RA and the other group had Umme Salamah and Zaynab RA (who was believed to be the stiffest competitor of the Prophet ﷺ in terms of love ). The main purpose of these groups was solely vying for the Prophet ﷺ attention and love. But the love of Aisha RA was so powerful that other wives would often use it to re enter into the good books of the Prophet ﷺ if they had committed an error or mistake. Each and every action and mannerism of Aisha RA is observed in detail  by the Prophet ﷺ and various such incidents are shared by the Shaykh which is important also as pointers on what is the ruling on certain aspects of Islam. The whole concession of Tayammum came down in the Qur'an only because of Aisha RA through the incident of the missing necklace that resulted in scarcity of water. Her strong level of Taqwa and charity is also touched base upon and should be listened to sincerely.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi talks about how Yusuf AS asks his brothers to bring Bin Yameen to him and how Yusuf AS manages to keep his youngest brother with him in Egypt. Verses 62 to 67 are recited of Surah Yusuf. Yusuf AS tells his slave to place the merchandise that he brought back in the very bags of grains in which he sold them. Why did he do this? He wanted to show them his hospitality,generosity and good nature. Bin Yameen was the favourite son of Yaqub AS. Why did Yusuf AS want Bin Yameen to be brought to him? Listen intently to discover important details. They request their father to send with them their brother, so that they could get some grains and food from the minister of finance of Egypt - Yusuf AS. Their father blatantly refused them thinking of past memories of Yusuf AS. Dejected at this, the brothers landed back in the palace and lo and behold! Their grains were seen in the bags. Elated, they take this proof back to their father to convince him once again to let them take Bin Yameen along with them so that they could get some extra benefits like a camel.  The Shaykh also sheds ample light on the topic of evil jealousy - Al Ayn. What is the context of Al Ayn in Yaqub AS telling his sons to enter from different gates when entering Egypt? Listen intently to find out.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses Verses 44 to 62 which are recited from Surah Yusuf and explanations are provided in the video ahead. We are acquainted with the three types of souls of human beings:  Righteous and pious soul Soul that rebukes itself and amends itself Corrupt soul that deviates from the worship of Allah. The king now requests for Yusuf AS to be brought to him and be made into his camp for his honourability and his chastity. After speaking to Yusuf AS, his prestige for Yusuf AS rose even higher and gave him position and authority. He gave him Makeen and Yakeen as titles. Then, Yusuf AS asks the king to make him the incharge of all the produce of the agricultural lands . A minute should be given to ponder on the fate of Yusuf AS from the confines of  prison to the most influential position of the city of Egypt. This is the Qadr of Allah and He gives to whom He is pleased with and who is grateful to Him.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now moves on to discuss the life and personality of one of the most favorite wives of the Prophet ﷺ - Aisha Bint Abu Bakr RA. Aisha Bint Abu Bakr RA was the daughter of Abu Bakr As Siddiq RA who was the beloved companion of the Prophet ﷺ. Her mother was Umm Ruman. She was from the Banu Taym tribe. She had 2 sisters - Asma Bint Abu Bakr RA and Umm Kulthum RA. She had 2 brothers - Muhammad Ibn Abu BAkr and Abdul Rahman Bin Abu Bakr RA. She was a tall and pretty lady. She was married to the Prophet ﷺ at the age of 6 and the marriage was consummated at the age of 9 as per authentic Hadiths. How did this marriage take place? This marriage happened due to the matchmaking efforts of Khawlah Bint Hakim. What was the impediment in this union? Listen intently to discover the details. The Prophet ﷺ married Aisha RA a year after his marriage to Sawda RA and in the month of Shawwal, IH, the consummation takes place. The Mahr was ascertained at 50 dirhams. The love that the Prophet ﷺ had for Aisha RA superseded that for the other wives and this set into place, unhappiness and discord amongst the rest of the wives. They decided to bring this matter to the fore by addressing the same to the Prophet ﷺ by various petitions from Fatima RA and Zaynab Bint Jahsh RA. After seeking permission form her husband, Aisha RA gives a befitting reply to Zaynab RA . What does the Prophet ﷺ say to Zaynab when this happens? It is a very interesting incident. Do listen intently. When Umme Salama came next with another petition, the Prophet ﷺ said a statement that ended all these complaints altogether. What must have been the statement? Some of the blessings that Aisha RA enjoys above others are as follows: She was the only virgin that the Prophet ﷺ married. She is the only one whose both parents are Muhajirs. Her innocence during the slander incident has been revealed from the Heavens itself. She was the only one with whom the Prophet ﷺ would take Ghusl from the same container  and no other wife enjoyed this privilege. Allah’s Wahi would come down only when he was with Aisha RA and no other wife. The Prophet ﷺ breathed his last when his face was between her neck and chest and is buried in her house.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now delves into the discussion of the second wife of the Prophet ﷺ - Sawda Bint Zam'ah RA. Sawda RA was a Qurayshi and she belonged to the tribe of Banu Abid Ibn Luayy. She was initially married to a man named As Sakran Ibn Amr who was the brother of the famous Suhail Ibn Amr. The union of this marriage resulted in a son named, Abdullah. Sawda bint Zam'a was among the first women to migrate to Abyssinia. She was a bulky lady with a slow gait. She was married to the Prophet ﷺ in the month of Ramadan in the 10th year of Dawah. How did this alliance or marriage come to be? It came about by the matchmaking of Khawlah Bint Hakim RA. To unravel the whole story behind this, please listen intently to the lecture. Sawda RA was a blessed lady who was later on admired by Aisha RA in terms of maturity and wisdom and she also had a great sense of humour which is evident from the incident narrated by the Prophet ﷺ. After the Battle of Badr, when Sawda RA saw Suhail Ibn Amr tied up in her house as a prisoner, she blurted out in a moment of lapse a dialogue that was a shocker. What was it that she said? And what was the response of the Prophet ﷺ to her at the time? Do listen. Sawda was the one who was involved in the legislation of the Hijab. And it is through her only that we also derive the Fiqh of one of the aspects of hajj which is the Fiqh of Muzdalifa. After the death of the Prophet ﷺ, Sawda RA lived a simple, frugal and worship engrossed life. She died during the Khilafat of Muawiyah.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now discusses the king finding about who Yusuf AS was and his backstory. He also discusses dreams and their interpretations as this forms the backbone of Surah Yusuf. The concept of dream interpretation is a blessing given by Allah to His chosen servants. How does one get this knowledge? Simply by being pious and righteous. Only tell these people about  one’s dreams as advised by the Prophet ﷺ.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi welcomes us to yet another fascinating part of this amazing series and discusses what transpired in the king’s palace that prompted the king to have an interaction with Yusuf AS while in prison. Verses 42 to verse 53 of Surah Yusuf are recited in the same context. In these verses, Yusuf AS tells one of the two lads who he thought would be safe after listening to their dreams, to take his message to the king that it was incorrect of him to be in prison and save him from this wrongdoing. But the lad ,due to the conniving ways of Shaytan , could not deliver the message of Yusuf AS to the king and hence, he remained in prison for many more years illegally. After many years, the king had a very strange dream of 7 fat cows being eaten by 7 thin ones and he knew that this dream meant something. He called for his council of ministers and asked them to explain his dream to him if they have the knowledge. They replied that these were jumbled nightmares and was not something to be read into. The audience also had the same lad who had been freed earlier and he remembers Yusuf AS. So, he excuses himself by saying that he will find the interpretation of the dream while all the while knowing that it was only Yusuf AS who could do so.  So, he lands himself in front of Yusuf AS in prison and asks for the interpretation of the dream in order to make himself famous. Yusuf AS explains the dream immediately without criticizing him or anything of the sort for his failure to get his message delivered to the king earlier. What was the interpretation of the dream? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses the story of the da'wah of Yusuf AS within the confines of prison in Verses 36 to 41 of Surah Yusuf. Two young lads entered the prison with Yusuf AS who were the bread maker and winemaker in the palace and both were tried with trying to poison the king. They each had a dream. What were the dreams and what were their interpretations? Listen intently to acquaint yourself with these interesting dreams . Yusuf AS established a good reputation in the prison by being kind, merciful and helpful to the prison mates. The dreams of the lads were shared to Yusuf AS and he was the apt person to interpret their dreams as Allah had blessed him with the knowledge of interpreting dreams. But Yusuf AS stalled the interpretation for hope of bringing the lads closer to Islam. He tells them to wait till their next meal comes. How did he change the topic from dreams to Allah? Discover the details. Then, he goes off on the tangent of da'wah to come towards Allah. We are also acquainted with the methodology adopted by Yusuf AS to advocate the Greatness of Allah SWT and Dawah of Islam. He dissociates himself from idolatry and believes in One God and the HereAfter. He also says he believes in the teachings taught by Prophets Ibrahim, Yaqub and Ishaq AS.
