The news of the beauty of Yusuf AS spread through the town and all the women were very keen to catch a glimpse of him. The sins of spreading rumours and gossiping by the women of the incident that had transpired resulted from lack of piety as they were idol worshippers. The wife of Azeez felt humiliated when she heard the news spreading and she wanted the women to see Yusuf AS. So, she prepares a huge banquet for them and invites her friends circle. This is her conniving plot done purposely to lure the women. She then calls Yusuf AS on the pretext of helping her out. When the women saw him, they could not praise his beauty enough and cut their hands losing track of reality because of the beholding beauty of Yusuf AS. They could not control their lust and emotions for the handsome Yusuf AS. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses a few verses in Surah Yusuf where he shares details on how the wife of Azeez attempted to seduce Yusuf AS yet again and how he threw her back and repelled her and how he was punished for his innocence. There is much benefit and wisdom in this story - we see that Yusuf AS is not a superhuman. He has the same emotions and feelings of lust as ordinary humans. True piety is exhibited when he controlled those emotions for the fear and love of Allah. When they both tried to reach for the door to escape amidst the physical altercation, they were surprised and shocked to find the master and husband at the door. When she sees her husband, she turns the tables around by asking him to punish Yusuf AS in the event of an attempted misdeed being committed by him. What is the response of Yusuf AS? He attempts to defend his honour and says that she was the one who tried to seduce him. The husband is in a state of dilemma when a person from her own household came forward to provide a clarification and testified appropriately.  How was it done? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses Verses 21 to 29 of Surah Yusuf where we gather information about him growing up in the house of a very famous minister in Egypt and what happened to him over there. The person who purchased him as a slave was a kind and gentle person who wanted to adopt him and treat him with compassion. He was in fact the right hand man of the king of the time and was a position of power and influence.his name was Azeez. When Yusuf AS reached manhood at around 18 years of age under the care of Azeez and his wife, he was given knowledge and wisdom by Allah SWT on account of righteousness. The woman in whose house Yusuf AS lived tried to seduce him on account of his extremely good looks. She tried to force herself on Yusuf AS one fine day. What happens at that time? Yusuf AS says to her - Allah is the One whom I seek refuge in! He is my Lord who has been so generous to me.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses about what transpired in verses 13 to 20 and how Yusuf AS was deserted in a far away land.  The brothers of Yusuf AS throw him into the depths of the well. He was completely taken by surprise but the brothers ridiculed him,tortured him. They showed no pity for the six year old Yusuf AS. The brothers came back late at night after committing the heinous crime with fake tears in their eyes. They also brought forth a shirt of Yusuf soaked in blood. As soon as Yaqub AS saw the shirt, he knew it was a lie as the shirt was not torn at all. Yaqub AS swore to bear patience in the wake of this tragedy and to turn to Allah who will protect him in the wake of these trials. Allah SWT comforted the child Yusuf AS about the outcome of this trial: He will be reunited with his brethren. The brothers will not recognize him. He will be the one to tell them about him. He will be in a position of power and they will be weak. The next part of the lecture is about the rescue of Yusuf AS and is something not to be missed at any cost.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses the next story in the Surah where the brothers start to plot and plan to kill their brother, Prophet Yusuf AS. He will also recite Surah Yusuf from Verse 7 to Verse 14. In what happened between his brothers and Yusuf AS, are many signs that will benefit and profit mankind. The brothers believed that their father loved Yusuf AS more than any of the remaining 11 sons. The brothers desired the love of their father which was permissible but the way in which they wanted to get it was impermissible.  The depths of jealousy leads you to lose track of reality as is demonstrated in the plan of the brothers of committing the dastardly track of killing Yusuf AS. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now divulges details on the dream of Prophet Yusuf AS And how his father Prophet Yaqub AS (nicknamed Israel) interpreted the meaning of this dream. The most noble and blessed of lineage is that of Prophet Yusuf AS. His father had 12 sons.  When did he see the dream? This was when he had not even matured. What was the dream about? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi answers explicitly and we are left mesmerised with the explanation provided. What did Prophet Yaqub AS respond to his son’s dream? He told his son Yusuf AS not to tell this dream to his brothers or else they would plot against Yusuf AS. They would get jealous of Yusuf AS as to why was he being prostrated to and not the brothers. Also, the father was well aware of the mentality of his other sons seemingly well. Dreams are of three types - a vivid explanation is given on the same and should be listened to intently to achieve clarity.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi provides an explanation of the first few verses of Surah Yusuf which deal with the Noble Qur'an being a source of greatness, majesty, clarity and guidance for mankind. The first verse begins with Huroof Al-Muqatta’at which are to show the miraculous nature of the Qur’an. The Qur’an is composed of words that we speak, language that we know, and letters that we write, yet mankind is not able to produce something similar to this .  Why is a word meaning ‘ Tilka -far ‘mentioned in the verse? There are two opinions for this. The Speech of Allah is far superior than the speech of man. Allah has preserved in the Grand Book or preserved Tablet which is with Him. Al Mubeen - The first connotation of the verse is that this Noble Book is itself clear to understand. The second connotation is describing the function of the book which is to make things clear or clarifies truth from falsehood, evil from truth. The usage of Allah referring to Himself in the plural is to show His Majesty and not an entity. Whenever He commands angels to do anything, He refers to Himself in the plural. The origination of the Qur'an comes from Allah and has not been created and hence, the word Anzalna is used.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now discusses the event of the journey of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to the city of Taif to spread the message of Islam hoping they would be more welcoming to accept the religion of Islam more than the Quraysh. To his complete misery, the people of Taif were brutal in their dealings with the Prophet ﷺ. The story that transpired between himself and the three brothers (leaders)is explained which ended in the utmost of contempt and sarcasm.  Surah Yusuf and the life of Prophet ﷺ have marked similarities. The length of time of preaching without receiving a positive and fair response for Islam. The death of loved ones. The rejection faced by the two Prophets at the hands of their own people. Asbab e Nuzool means specific cause for the revelation of a verse or the Surah. Two specific scenarios that occurred that caused Allah to reveal Surah Yusuf:  Some Jews from Madina went to Makkah and the Quraysh considered them to be superior in terms of civilisation. So the Quraysh wanted a perspective to reject the teachings of Prophet Muhammad SAW.hence, the Jews asked them to ask the Prophet ﷺ about Prophet Yusuf AS and see if he responds. The Sahabas also questioned the Prophet ﷺ about stories about Prophets so that they could reassert their belief in Islam and the Prophet ﷺ. Also, an explanation is provided on the first 6 verses of this Surah.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses at length the tafseer of Surah Yusuf which is the 12th chapter of the Quran and contains 111 verses. How did this come to be? The philosophy of the Sahabas to spread Islam was to give dawah to the people about our religion and what it meant to be a Muslim. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi gives a befitting conclusion on the topic of the first and blessed wife of the Prophet ﷺ - Khadija Bint Khuwaylid RA. In every major incident that takes place in the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ in the first ten years of the Hijrah, Khadija RA is part of his household during the time. The refutation and ridicule of the Prophet ﷺ had to be dealt with by Khadija RA and she never listened to the Quraysh against her husband, the Noble Prophet ﷺ. In the 10th year of the Dawah, the boycott is lifted and the boycott and the harsh conditions in which Khadija RA was living took a toll on her health and she passed away soon after the boycott was lifted in the month of Ramadan. She was buried by the Prophet ﷺ with her own hands.at the time, the Sunnah of Salat Al Janazah was not legislated yet. Khadija RA is referenced in the Qur'an indirectly. Which is the verse? Listen intently to find out. The Prophet ﷺ was always cognizant of the favours Khadija RA had done for the Prophet ﷺ. How did the Prophet ﷺ repay this favour? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elaborates beautifully. None of the women were sent Salaam by Allah SWT directly other than Khadija RA.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi addresses the elephant in the room - the issue of celebrity scholars. These scholars are an embodiment of Fitnah and we should vehemently discourage it. The story of Umar ibn al khattab RA and Ubayy Ibn Ka'b RA is brought to the fore by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi and we realise what points should we keep in mind to keep this menace at bay. We are advised to not link religion with one person. This is a big Fitnah. Islam is in no need for us. At time of fitnah, we should turn to Allah and follow the real Ulama instead of looking for the famed ones who may or may not have complete knowledge of all the things related to Islam.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues his lecture on the first wife of the Prophet ﷺ - Khadija Bint Khuwaylid RA. She is the first person who began the good deeds of doing Wudu, accepting Islam, believing in Allah and praying to Allah. Barakah or Umme Ayman is the slave of Abdullah , the father of the Prophet ﷺ. A brief introduction is given about her and should be listened to intently Next up for discussion is the people who are living in the household of Khadija RA. Zaid ibn Haritha and his family shared a special bond and lived in the household of Khadija RA. It also had Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA in the same house. The first of her children is Al Qasim. He was born and died before the beginning of Islam. He died a young child. The first daughter and the second child of the Prophet ﷺ is Zaynab who is married to Hala’s son, Abul Aas. Zaynab was born when the Prophet ﷺ was 30 years old. She passes away in the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ. Similar biographies about the other children of the Prophet ﷺ are shared in explicit detail and should be listened to intently. What was the role of Khadija RA at the time of the revelation and her future course of action upon knowing about these revelations? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi makes explicit elaborations on the purity of Khadija RA and we should comprehend these points and remember them always.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves into the topic of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ and in that, we are acquainted with the first wife - Khadijah bint Khuwaylid. She is the first of the mothers of the believers, first of the wives, the first to believe and pray, the first to bear children and the one whom glad tidings of Jannah are given upon. The tribe and lineage of Khadija RA is elaborated upon and makes for an interesting listen. She was a pure Qurayshi who belonged to the tribe of Banu Asad and her father Khuwaylid was the sub chief of the tribe of Asad. She had 3 brothers and 1 sister- Hizam, Awwam, Nawfal and Hala Ibn Khuwaylid. A brief biography of Hakim Ibn Hizam is illustrated and he is the only person in the history of Islam to have been born inside the Ka'ba. He was the youngest member of the Nadwah Council at the age of 25. Nawfal ibn Khuwaylid was the youngest of the brothers of Khadija RA and he was an enemy of Islam. More details are shared about this lion of the Quraysh for his endless support to the Quraysh. Her sister's name is Hala Ibn Khuwaylid and accepted Islam. A Hadith is narrated mentioning her is shared with us. Waraqah ibn Nawfal ibn Asad is her first cousin. He is the one who described to the Prophet ﷺ about the incident with Jibreel AS and the Revelations. He is of the few who was most knowledgeable and the one could read and write Hebrew. Khadija’s cousin Barrah is the maternal grandmother of the Prophet ﷺ. Barrah is the mother of Aminah RA. How did Khadija RA meet the Prophet ﷺ? There are two versions of the story and the Shaykh explains the reason for leaning strongly on one of these versions.

What do we mean by Ummahat Ul Mumineen? What are their characteristics? Allah says in the Quran in Surah Ahzab, verse 28 , highlighting the stature of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ:  O Prophet, tell your wives: “If you seek the world and its embellishments, then come and I will make some provision for you and release you in an honourable way.But if you seek Allah and His Messenger and the Abode of the Hereafter, then surely Allah has prepared a great reward for those of you who do good.” There are no women better than them. These women are the role models of femininity and virtuousness. Is the status of the Mother of the Believers higher than the Ashara Mubashara (the Ten promised Jannah)? Who has a higher rank in Jannah- 4 amongst the women who have perfected the Iman or the Mother of the Believers? How many mothers do we have ? There are 11 of them. The Prophet ﷺ was married to 9 of them at the time of his death. 6 of them were from the Qurayshi, 4 of them were non Qurayshi and one was non Arab. The remaining are put into 5 categories and they are not our mothers: Those wives whom he married but the marriage was not consummated. Those whom he proposed to but they turned the proposal down. Those who offer themselves in marriage to the Prophet ﷺ. Those who are offered to him by others but the Prophet ﷺ did not accept. Those who are the sarari of the Prophet ﷺ.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi  delves into the family, blessings, and rights of the most blessed family to ever live on the earth - The Ahlul Bayt or the Family of the Prophet ﷺ. And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance. And establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the [Prophet's] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification.  [Surah Ahzab, Verse 33] What does Ahlulbayt mean? Sunni Islam agrees that Banu Hashim and the wives of the Prophet ﷺ are included in the Ahlul Bayt. Sadaqah And Zakah is haram upon the Ahlul Bayt. The wives of the Prophet ﷺ have many blessings ascribed to them as is evident in the numerous verses cited from Surah Ahzab. They have an extra status which is clear when we say that they are the wives of the Prophet ﷺ and also are devoted to Islam diligently. Hadith al Thaqalayn is also mentioned highlighting the status of the Ahlulbayt which explicitly mentions that the two precious things left behind by the Prophet ﷺ are the Qur’an and the Ahlul-Bayt. We make Dua constantly for their ranks to be raised in every Salah. The Sahaba had immense love for the Ahlul Bayt as is proven by various narrations of the Hadith. The status of Hassan and Hussein RA is elaborated upon and numerous Hadith are shared to illustrate this very fact. Abu Saeed RA narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Al-Hasan and Al-Husain are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.” Ibn Umar RA said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Indeed Al-Hasan and Al-Hussain – they are my two fragrant flowers in the world.”

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi goes into the tangent of the sad reality that encompasses the pertinent question - "Why is there so much suffering in this world?" There are two types of calamities in this world: The calamity of food and shelter The calamity of war and strife The theological wisdom behind calamities and suffering in this world are as follows: Demonstrates Lordship -  only Allah is Powerful, no one else. Appreciation of the fact that we are the servants of Allah. The religiosity, Iman, Taqwa, Du'a and calling to Allah that comes as a result. Exhibition of the best Akhlaq in a person. Allah allows others to demonstrate generosity and test those who are blessed with the worldly benefits and pleasures.  Appreciation of the blessings and ease in our daily life for which we ought to be thankful to Allah. Blessings of Allah on the Day of Judgment due to pain in this world.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi is about celebrations and imitating the Kuffar. Some celebrations are prohibited by the scholars because of the imitation of the Kuffar. What does Eid mean? Shaykh Yasir answers.What is the verdict of the scholars on celebrating festivals other than the two Eids?there are two opinions. Any festival celebrated other than Eid ul Fitr and Eid al Adha is linked to Bidah which is nonsensical. It is imitating the Kuffar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ  said, “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” Abdullaah ibn Umar RA that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Differentiate yourself from the Mushrikeen: trim the moustache and let the beard grow." The above is one of the many Hadith that makes it clear to not imitate the Kuffar. Sometimes Tashabbah becomes Mubah or Mustahab or even Wajib at times qs narrated by Ibn Taymiyyah in his book relating the same topic. A few examples are shared and we are able to comprehend it in a better manner.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the reality of the concept of Bid’ah or Innovation which is a branch of theology. What constitutes an innovation? What are the branches? Where and when does this occur, including the categories found within, along with the dangers related.   Linguistically, Bid'ah means to bring something unprecedented or that which has not been brought before. Islamically, it implies a new methodology or action in Islam. It is the opposite of Sunnah. Every Bid'ah is a misguidance and leads to Jahannam. Bid'ah has the same categories as Islam such as Wajib, Mustahab, Mubah, Makrooh and Haram. Categories of Bid'ah: Bid'ah Filiyah (doing something more) vs Bid'ah Tarqiyyah (giving something up) - examples are stated. Bid'ah I'tiqadiyah (Bid'ah of Aqeedah) vs Bid'ah Amaliyyah( action based Bid'ah) - illustrated via examples. Bid'ah Kulliyyah vs Bid'ah Juziyyah. Bid'ah Baseethah vs Bid'ah Murakkabah. Bid'ah Haqeeqiyyah (True Bid'ah) vs Bid'ah Idhaafiyyah (adding or tweaking something more to something that is already present). Various examples citing the Hadith are illustrated and we get numerous clarifications thus, making for a very interesting and mesmerising listen.

In this video, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves into the biography of Suhayl Ibn Amr and his family. He was the Khatib or orator and one of the leaders of Makkah at the time of the advent of Islam. His two famous sons with regards to Islam are - Abdullah Ibn Suhayl and Abu Jandal Ibn Suhayl. As we shall learn, we gather his role in the refusal of protection of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on his return from Ta'if. He was also instrumental in concluding the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and we shall see the incidents that transpired during these events. He set the condition for the treaty to be signed from the Muslims as Muhammad ibn Abdullah as opposed to the Prophet Muhammad, which was outright rejection of the Prophethood. He died of the Amawas plague in the 18th year of the Hijra.

In a continuation of the previous video, Shaykh Yasir elucidates in great detail the incidents that led to the defamation of Abu Hurayrah RA and attempts to clarify the common misconceptions one may have. Abu Hurayrah became an emissary of sorts in no time because of his utmost dedication and devotion to the Prophet ﷺ. He was given the responsibility of breaking the news to the people that no Mushrik will perform Hajj after the conquest of Mecca. He also accompanied the Prophet ﷺ pretty much everywhere he went and also participated in battles. Once  Abu Hurayrah RA asked the Prophet ﷺ: “O Messenger of Allah SAW, who will be the most fortunate of people to receive your intercession on the Day of Resurrection?” The Prophet ﷺ replied: “O Abu Hurayra, I knew, because of your love of what I say, that no one other than you would ask me of this hadith. The most fortunate of people to receive my intercession on the Day of Resurrection are those who said: La ilaha illallah purely and sincerely - with Ikhlas -from the heart.” Abu Hurayrah RA narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever attributes to me something that I have not said, let him take his place in Hell.'" Abu Hurayrah also narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, "A believer who accompanies the Janazah of a Muslim out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's reward and remains with it till the Janazah is offered and the burial ceremonies are over, he will return with a reward of two Qirats. Each Qirat is like the size of the Mount Uhud. “ His most famous students were  Mohammed Ibn Sireen and Sa’d Ibn Mus'ayb RA. Such was the stature of Abu Hurayrah RA that he was the one who performed the Salat Janaza of both Aisha RA and Umme Salamah RA. Abu Hurayrah RA mentions that were it not for the Qur’anic revelation, I would not have narrated any Hadith which is - ‘Indeed, those who conceal the clear signs and guidance that We have sent down, after We have made them clear to the people in the Book, they, such of them, are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse.’ He was always saddened by his mother being a mushrik and  longed for her to become a Muslim but she vehemently refused. One day, she made some negative remarks about the Prophet ﷺ which saddened him greatly and he went to the Prophet ﷺ who said to him: "What makes you cry, O Abu Hurairah?""I have not succeeded in inviting my mother to Islam and today i ask you to do dua to Allah SWT to make the heart of Abu Hurairah mother incline to Islam."Rasulullah ﷺ  responded to Abu Hurairah request and did as was requested of him. After some time, he went home and found the door closed. He heard the splashing of water and when he tried to enter his mother said, 'Stay where you are, O Abu Hurairah.' And after putting on her clothes, she said, 'Enter!' he entered and she said, 'I testify that there is no Allah but Allah and I testify that Muhammad is His Servant and His Messenger.'he then returned to Rasulullah ﷺ and said, 'I have good news, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Allah has responded to your prayer and guided the mother of Abu Hurairah to Islam.' " There is none among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ who has narrated more Hadiths than Abu Hurairah RA except 'Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As who used to write them and Abu Hurairah never did the same - instead he memorized them - so he had more to his credit.

In this lecture, we are transported into the life and times of one of the greatest defenders of the Sunnah - Abu Hurairah Ad Dawsi - by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. The lecture begins with a brief transcript of one man - Al Tufayl ibn Amr al Dawsi- who was the chieftain of a tribe named Daws (Yemen) and the reason behind this discussion is revealed in he being the one who gave da'wah to Abu Hurairah to accept Islam. Abu Hurayrah was formerly called Abd al Shams  and Abd al Raḥman ibn Ṣakhr. He was given the present name by the Prophet ﷺ in all likelihood of his extreme fondness of kittens.he was the leader of Ahle Suffah. 5700 hadith have been narrated by Abu Hurayrah which is 2 to 3 times more than what any other Sahaba might have done. Narrated by Abu Hurayrah, "One day, my hunger became so severe that I placed a stone on my stomach. Abu Bakr passed by and I asked him about an ayah of the Book of Allah. I only asked him so that he would invite me but he did not.Then Umar ibn al Khattab passed by me and I asked him about an ayah but he also did not invite me. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by and realized that I was hungry and said,' Abu Hurayrah!”'At your command,' I replied and followed him until we entered his house. He found a bowl of milk and asked his family:'From where did you get this?"Someone sent it to you,' they replied. He then said to me: 'O Abu Hurayrah, go to the Ahlus-Suffah and invite them.'"I did as I was told and they all drank from the milk." when they had finished, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said  to me drink! I drank and i drank till i was satiated. Then I said ‘O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, there is no way I can drink any more.’ He realised that the Messenger ﷺ was teaching him the blessings of Allah SWT. Narrated Abu Huraira : You people say that Abu Huraira tells many narrations from the Prophet ﷺ and you also wonder why the emigrants and Ansar do not narrate from him as Abu Hurairah does. My emigrant brothers were busy in the market while I used to stick to the Prophet ﷺ content with what fills my stomach; so I used to be present when they were absent and I used to remember when they used to forget, and my Ansari brothers used to be busy with their properties and I was one of the poor men of Suffah. I used to remember the narrations when they used to forget. The Prophet ﷺ once said, "Whoever spreads his garment till I have finished my present speech and then gathers it to himself, will remember whatever I will say." So, I spread my coloured garment which I was wearing till the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had finished his saying, and then I gathered it to my chest. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi gives a heartwarming lecture on the legacy we leave behind after one passes away from this life. The only thing that can be left behind is that person's legacy that they would be remembered by. Therefore, it is absolutely essential and binding upon us to leave a good legacy behind as it would not only to be pleasing to Allah (SWT) but it could also serve as a means for us to be rewarded if that legacy is truly beneficial.   Three practical steps to maximise our legacy: Ikhlas or Sincerity - Our Niyyah has to be to please Allah SWT and not the people of this world. Humility - Whoever humbles himself for the sake of Allah will have his status elevated by Allah SWT. We also understand the concept of Ihsaan - giving more than what is required to give and are content with obtaining something less than that which is expected. Sabr or Patience - consistency of performing good deeds is possible only if one inculcates and imbibes Sabr in his life. It is a necessary trait.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves deeply into the concept of standing firm on the principles of Islam - primarily, equality. When the elite of the Quraysh requested for a change in the clause of Islam which was to get rid of Bilal RA, Ibn Masud RA, Suhaib Ibn Roomi RA and other non Arabs from the sitting in which the elites would be housed, they cited a possible chance of accepting of Islam by the elites like Mutim Ibn Adi. A discussion ensued in Dar Al Arqam. Should a compromise be put into place for this principle clause? What was the outcome at this gathering? Listen intently to discover the happenings there. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elucidates on the three main points when it comes to tackling preachers or eloquent radicals who though may be mesmerizing, do not fit into the realm of beliefs that should be entertained. The troublesome point of concern amongst the Muslim ummah is the supremacy and rise of strange and unorthodox interpretations of Islam. People with little or no knowledge, understanding and training interpret the verses of the Qur'an that is vehemently against the belief of our Iman and hence, messes with the minds of innocent Muslims. The Prophet ﷺ  said, “Near the establishment of the Hour there will be days during which (religious) knowledge will be taken away (vanish) and general ignorance will spread.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The most virtuous fasting after the month of Ramadan is Allah's month Al-Muharram." ISNA Main Session 2018 The Seerah of our Prophet ﷺ is one of the most important sources of our religion. It inspires, guides and empowers us to be better Muslims. Yet for many of us, the stories of the Seerah are abstract tit bits that might sound sensational, but we are unable to draw relevance to our modern lives from it. This is a mistake and a shortcoming from our part. The Seerah is supposed to be a living message where we connect the dots from the past to our lives here in the present. In this short yet powerful talk, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi draws a number of parallels with the historical events and the incidents that are occurring in our times. When our Prophet ﷺ migrated from Makkah to Madinah, as he entered the city, he gave a prophetic advice which has been recorded in vivid detail by an eyewitness account who was none other than the chief rabbi of Madinah - Abdullah bin Salaam. Narrated in an authentic hadith in at-Tirmidhi, 'Abdullah bin Salaam said: "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived- meaning in Al-Madinah – the people came out to meet him. It was said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had arrived, so I went among the people to get a look at him. When I gazed upon the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I knew that this face was not the face of a liar. The first thing that he spoke about was that he said: 'O people, feed the hungry, spread Salaam (greeting of peace), maintain your kin relationships, and pray at night while others are asleep. With this, you shall enter Heaven in peace.'" [Sahih] Due to its grave importance and captivating lessons, it is called the hadith of Salaam. The day of ‘Arafah was the day when Allah sent down this beautiful verse to his noble Prophet ﷺ: “This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion”. A brief introduction about the spread of Islam in China is provided.Islam was present in China since 1 H. It can be heard numerous times in Khutbahs that the Sahaba travelled all the way to China to spread Islam. It is also said that the grave of Saad Ibn-Abi-Waqas is there which is more of a myth that history. The Sahaba could not have reached China as they were still conquering provinces far from China such as Uzbekistan.  Amazing driving skills, impeccable cleanliness makes one humble oneself with propaganda . they take pride in a far better civil structure than others. They boast of a civilisation and history that goes back 5000 to 6000 years. Every city that was visited had Halal food and Masjids. Chinese Muslims have a unique blend of Islam and China. Their calligraphy is unique which looks Chinese outwardly but when we look deep is actually Arabic. This shows us that to spread Islam, it is natural to imbibe the culture and traditions of that land as far as Shariah allows it. The government has taken charge of the Mosques completely and the government appoints and trains the Imams who are trained in the Government operated Madrasas. Shaykh Yasir appreciates the numerous blessings that we have been blessed with in the freedom of worship. The floor opens for a Q & A and numerous valid questions are answered beautifully.

Shaykh Yyasir Qadhi discusses the prominent topic of Naseeha - advice sharing and imbibing and the place for it in our Deen and Shariah. What is Naseeha? Citing the definition, the Prophet ﷺ said: “The religion is Naseehah.” The people said, “To whom?” The Prophet ﷺ said, “To Allah and to His book and to His Messenger and to the leaders of the Muslims and to the common folk of the Muslims.” Going by this Hadith, it is binding upon us to reckon that the matter of naseehah is of utmost importance. We should stick on to it always and set an example in this regard. Accepting naseehah is like opening a door, and the door will not open without the proper key. There is no better key to unlock the heart than kindness in giving advice, gentleness in exhortation, and softness in speech. In this powerful and enriching video, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi stresses on the importance of naseehah in Deen and the profound influence it can have in our lives if adhered to unconditionally. He then moves on to delve deeper into the objectives of giving naseehah, the manner in which it is to be given and how to imbibe it in our lives, rather than getting critical about it.   Shaitan has declared war on all of humanity, and Allah has given the believers the tools necessary to win this war. In this war of conquering the self, the help, aid and guidance of our brothers and sisters is needed to assure that ultimate victory, in sha Allah, of true success in this life and in the Hereafter.

In the final part on the lectures pertaining to the three Fitan in the time of Abdullah Ibn Zubayr RA, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi touches base on the incidents that led to the tragic death of Ibn Zubayr RA. Abdul Malik ibn Marwan was the torch and the reason for a firm standing in the civilization of Islam or the Umayyad dynasty. Many details are explicitly explained on Hajjaj Ibn Yusuf (known as the terminator - for his way of dealing with his enemies being harsh, ruthless and immensely cruel) and the likes of him, his atrocities towards the people of Mecca and his ultimate cruelty exhibited in the death of Abdullah Ibn Zubayr RA. We also get acquainted with the final heart wrenching and emotional exchange of dialogues between Ibn Zubayr and his mother Asma Bint Abi BAkr RA in his final moments just before setting out to fight against Hajjaj and be eventually martyred. It is just unimaginable and unfathomable as to how a mother displays such strength of Iman and valour and bravery that she is able to tell him to get martyred rather than dying a humiliating and wasteful death. She said to her son Ibn Zubayr RA - “There is nothing after death that man should be afraid of. Skinning does not cause any pain to the slaughtered sheep.” Abdullah Ibn Umar RA said about Abdullah Ibn Zubayr that the latter was nicknamed Sawwam and Qawwam. He was also the embodiment of courage and heroism. Do listen with utmost sincerity in order to fathom the greatness of these sahabas who walked the face of this earth.

In this video by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, we delve deeper into the Second Fitan- the battle of Al Harrah or the massacre of Al Harrah- during the time of Abdullah Ibn Zubayr RA. The battle of Harrah took place under the leadership of Yazid Ibn Muawiyah. He delegated an army 12000 strong under the command of Muslim Ibn Uqbah Al Marri to go and attack Madina if the people of Madinah fail to give allegiance to Yazid . Yazid informed Ibn Uqbah Al Marri that he had a free hand to do as he pleases for 3 days and nights in Madina and not spare anyone barring a few home like those of Abdullah Ibn Umar, the grandson of Ali RA and Ibn Abbas. Abdullah ibn Ja'far RA approached Yazid to speak to Abdullah ibn Hanzalah RA who was the chieftain of the army on the side of Madinah but there was no truce of whatsoever kind.The battle began and it was ruthless in its execution with many Sahabas and their families losing their lives, plundering of wealth and riches, violation of women, killing of innocent children and much more. Al Marri is often referred to by Muslims as “Musrif ibn Uqbah” and not as Muslim ibn Uqbah because his atrocities had crossed all boundaries. In a Hadith relating to Fitnah, once the Prophet ﷺ stood over one of the high buildings of Madinah and said to those below, “Do you see what I see?” They said, “No.” He said, “I see afflictions falling among your houses as rain drops fall.” The army of Yazid then ventured to Makkah to continue their siege and try to annihilate the army of Ibn Zubayr RA. The Ka'bah was badly damaged by fire during this time and was rebuilt by Ibn Zubayr in the shape of a rectangle. The opposing forces would have none of it and using catapults , succeeded in causing further destruction of the Ka'bah yet again and then the shape of the Ka'bah assumed a square shape which is what remains till this day. Explicit details are given in this regard and the role of Marwan Ibn Al Hakim in this civil war is also brought to the fore. Please do listen intently to acquaint yourself with the Islamic history.

In this elaborate talk about yet another great Sahaba - Abdullah Ibn Zubayr RA, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elucidates numerous details entailing the biography and also some major fitans that took place in his time. Ibn Abbas narrates about that the lineage of Ibn Zubayr RA was unparalleled with him being the son of Zubayr Ibn Al Awwam RA and Asma Bint Abi Bakr RA, the niece of Khadija RA and also of Aisha RA and the grandson of Safiyyah RA. He was a very handsome man with hair reaching his shoulders and he was blessed with a loud and resonating voice which proved beneficial in his way of Islam. He was the first child on whom tahneek was done by the Prophet ﷺ and the Azaan was given by Abu Bakr RA. Hence, it is appropriate to say that the barakah on Ibn Zubayr was instilled since his birth. He is one among the blessed children Sahabas. He became an embodiment of Ibadah with people saying that his level of Khushoo in Ibadah and Salah was unimaginable with some saying that when he stood up for salah , he stood so still  that they thought he was a pillar of the Haram. He was not deterred by hindrances that came in the way of worship to Allah and is once reported to have done the Tawaf of the Ka'bah by swimming when Makkah was lashed by rains. His level of worship, courage and eloquence had no parallel. Abdullah RA was an avid member of various armies that fought against both the Byzantine and Sassanid empires. He was with his father in the Battle of Yarmuk. He was also part of the Battle of the Camel. He was irreplaceable in the Battle of Tripoli. Details are meted out which elaborate explicitly the incidents that transpired among Muawiyah, Yazid and Abdullah Ibn Zubayr RA and the aftereffects of this denial of allegiance. What happened in Madinah that irritated Yazid to that extent? Tune in to find out more on this in the next video!

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi gives us an awesome and amazing lecture on the need of the hour which is to be the baton holder of the helm of change. How can one set this noble deed into motion? Well, the methods are many but the Shaykh promises us imminent results with something called the scientific butterfly effect that once embedded into our lives is surely set to make a elaborate transition in the way we conduct our lives. What does one mean by the butterfly effect? It is basically setting forth into action, a set of good deeds which will set the base for many more such good deeds of khair and in the process, a domino effect will be created. We are acquainted with numerous stories in the Seerah and the lives of Khalid Ibn Al Waleed RA, that lay the foundation of this very effect and hence, we should not trivialize any noble act done by us. It may not reap benefits almost immediately, but it is sure to make an effective change for the better somewhere else and some time definitely. Shaykh Yasir Qadhi explicitly tries to make us understand and fathom the result of this effect and implores us to make it binding upon ourselves to wok for the larger good and be a source of khair for others always.

In this outstanding lecture by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, we delve into the life and times of another great name amongst the Sahabah - Zayd Ibn Thabit RA. Zayd Ibn Thabit was an Ansar and he embraced Islam at the age of 11 years. He was learned and well versed in reading, writing and arithmetic. He was made to learn and master the Yahud language for easiness in understanding the letters that came to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on his very insistence. He did so in a meager two weeks. He is known as Kuttab Ul Wahi and he was the first one to attain this honour. He went on to become the primary scribe and secretary of the Prophet ﷺ. Whenever a portion of the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ, he would immediately call for Zayd and instruct him to bring the parchment, tablets and charcoal,shoulder blades of camels, papyrus or many other materials on which to write the Divine Revelation. He was among the youngest to participate in the Battle of Uhud though his main area of expertise was knowledge which covered two aspects - the Qur'an and Fiqh of inheritance - Ilm Al Faraid. Ibn Abbas RA had learned from Zayd Ibn Thabit RA. In the Battle of Tabuk, precedence was given by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to carry the flag for the ones who knew the Qur'an and Zayd was the ideal and most apt choice.In the Battle of Yarmouk, distribution of war booty to all the 10000 sahabah was done under the able and appropriate guidance of Zayd Ibn Thabit RA. The next major contribution by Zayd RA came in the form of compiling of the Qur'an for which he was placed on the editorial board of sorts. There were two stages of this compilation - the first in the time of Abu Bakr RA and the second in the time of Uthman RA separated by a span of 15 years. The Noble Qur'an is the best preserved noble Book till date as it was done just one year after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left this world and so all the Sahabas of seniority were present to compile the Qur'an to perfection. And all of them unanimously agreed upon Zayd RA doing the coveted job to perfection. Zayd RA began to fully fathom the weighty responsibility which is when he said, "By Allah, if he (Abu Bakr RA) had ordered me to shift one of the mountains from its place, it would not have been harder for me than what he had ordered me concerning the collection of the Qur'an." There were many reasons behind choosing Zayd RA for this: He was the numero uno scribe of the Khatam un Nabiyeen RA. He was among the few who had memorized the entire Qur'an. He had the best education with expertise in reading and writing . He was young which was why his energy,zeal and enthusiasm would be unparalleled. His relationship with the Qur'an was from childhood. His integrity was beyond recognition and no one ever doubted him. He was present when the recitation of the entire Qur'an was done in Ramadan by the Prophet ﷺ and he was witness to the hearing of the entire book from start to finish. Zayd Ibn Thabit had 30 children  and most famous among them is Kharijah bin Zayd bin Thabit.

In this video by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, we are acquainted with two more Sahaba - Jubayr and Mut'im Ibn 'Adi - their life and times. Mut`im ibn `Adi was the chieftain of the banu Naufal tribe and was not a Muslim but he possessed worldly traits that can be described as good virtues. He was in fact even talked about with praise by the Prophet ﷺ.  There are many reasons for this. Firstly, he supported Islam and ensured that he did not prove to be a hindrance in its progression. Secondly, he proved essential to avert or put an end to the Makkan boycott of the Hashemites. Thirdly, he was a staunch supporter of the Prophet ﷺ and ensured his return to Taif even though the Prophet ﷺ had been banished by Abu Lahab from coming back.  He died before the Battle of Badr past the age of 90. The son of Mut'im Ibn ‘Adi was Jubayr Ibn Mut'im RA and was renowned for his knowledge of genealogy after Abu Bakr RA. he was also the owner of Wahshi ibn Harb who was the slave who killed Hamza ibn 'Abdul Muttalib RA. Jubayr RA adopted Islam somewhere between the Second Treaty of Hudaibiyah and the conquest of Makkah. He had two sons-Nafi' ibn Jubayr and Muhammad ibn Jubayr . There are a few Hadith that have been narrated by Jubayr RA and some are listed as below: Narrated Jubayr ibn Mut'im, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ reciting Surah-at-Tur in Maghrib prayer, and that was at a time when belief was first planted in my heart." Another narration by Jubayr RA, "The Prophet ﷺ while speaking about the war prisoners of Badr, said, "Were Al-Mut'im bin Adi alive and interceded with me for these filthy people, I would certainly forgive them for his sake." Narrated by Jubayr RA, "The Prophet ﷺ said: “The one who severs the ties with the relatives will not be among the first to enter Paradise. Rather, this person will enter it after being tortured in Hellfire.” Narrated by Jubayr RA, "The  Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: May Allah brighten a man who hears a tradition from us, gets it by heart and passes it on to others. Many a bearer of knowledge conveys it to one who is more versed than he is; and many a bearer of knowledge is not versed in it. Of the most important blessings that we need to appreciate is the feeling we have when we fasted the whole day, prayed Taraweeh, Qiyam, read the Quran, that feeling of fulfillment is something that money could not buy it. The more Iman you have, the easier it will be to fight other temptations. That is why Allah (SWT) says in the Quran that when you pray, automatically that prayer will help you deal with so many of your vices. Simply turning to Allah will help you battle many of the other problems of this world.
