Shaykh Yasir Qadhi takes us on a journey which acquaints us with additional fruits of Iman .Of the blessings of Iman, one of the most misunderstood blessings is that Iman allows for you to have a beautiful life in this world only. The average misconception that is predominant in so many Muslims is, either I must enjoy this world and I’ll sacrifice the next, or I’ll live ‘miserably’ in this world so I can get Jannah in the next. This person does not realize that Allah does not shortchange those who turn to him. The Shaykh has said that this simply implies that the one who chooses Allah will be blessed in this world before the next. Therefore, they will be given this dunya and the next. That is something that the average person does not always understand. The best life that you can possibly live is the life of a believer. The blessings of Iman discussed in this enlightening video are as below: 1) Promise of a  beautiful life in this world and  the hereafter. 2) gives refuge from committing more evil deeds. 3) Helps us with the angel of death at time of our end. 4) true unification of Muslim brothers and sisters globally. 5) acceptance of benefit when sincere advice is meted out to a Mumin. 6) Noor (light) in day of Judgement due to firm Iman. 7) Greatest blessing in the form of looking directly at the face of Allah SWT. In the 15th part of the 22-part series on eeman, Shaykh Yasir focusses on haya. He bases his talk on the famous hadith reported in Sahih Muslim: "Faith has over seventy branches, the uppermost of which is the declaration: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and the least of which is the removal of harmful object from the road, and modesty is a branch of faith. This makes us understand that Allah loves Haya. Ibn Al-Qayyim mentions that just like the body has its life, the life of the heart is its modesty and bashfulness. Therefore Haya is one of the main characteristics of Iman. Muslims should possess both an inner and outer modesty. This is reflected in behavior, speech and appearance, and includes being mindful of God at all times. Modesty in Islam is known as haya, a word, which describes both shyness and a deeper modesty that is based on faith. A sense of haya should affect a Muslim’s conduct before God, before others and even when one is alone. Citing numerous ahadith, Shaykh Yasir expounds on one of the most beautiful topics in Islam which when embedded in an individual automatically raises him in humbleness and eeman - haya.  May Allah (Glory be to Him) to help us doing the righteous deeds and to grant us sincerity in words and actions and always set an example of Haya.

In yet another profound talk, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi encompasses the importance of knowing Allah’s names, calling upon Allah by those names, and includes the discussion of the number of Allah’s names. He makes us understand that every Muslim who seeks knowledge about Allah and to increase his love for Allah can do so by learning more about His names and attributes. By learning more about Allah and about His essence, one can appreciate His power over all things, and can make one sincere toward Him and increase in taqwa (piety). Citing reference to the hadith that says, “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one. Whoever learns them will enter Paradise.” (Reported by Al-Bukhaari (2736) and Muslim (2677)), we are reaffirmed that we will taste the reward of Jannah if we memorize these wonderful attributes. However, Shaykh Yasir insists that many scholars conform to the fact that learning the 99 names doesn’t mean that all names total to ninety nine. The Qur'an alone has 200 names mentioned in various Surahs. Allah commands the believers in the Qur'an to call upon Him using His names (that we know). The verse states: “And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah, so call on Him by them…” [Surah al-Aaraaf 7:180] Hence, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi stresses on the very fact to constantly contemplate, comprehend, memorise and then implement the names and attributes of Allah SWT in our daily existence while making dua'. This, he assures, will pave a way for the ultimate destination - Paradise.

In this enriching and beautiful talk by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, we come to realize how alike Iman and a palm tree are and how we can seek to create a unique symbolism between the two. Iman needs to be nourished with  our good deeds just as a tree is nourished with water . Similarly, Iman should be enlightened (through Qur’an) as a tree is enlightened with sunlight. Iman should be protected from sins and evil deeds (major and minor) like how a  tree is protected from weeds . The more sins we have the more the tree will be damaged and rendered beyond repair. The Shaykh goes on to describe the towering branches of a date palm tree as as a sign of flourishing and manifestation of our Iman and enlightens us with metaphorical meaning behind this, that is, Izzah in this life and the Hereafter, lifting our ranks in Jannah, everywhere and much more. In this video by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, we are acquainted at length about two other Sahabas - Adi Ibn Hatim RA and Thumamah Ibn Uthal RA. The father of Adi Ibn Hatim was the most generous of all people, a poet and the chieftain of his tribe. He held great authority and was respected greatly amongst his people.his daughter, Saffanah, once happened to be captured by the troops of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when they came searching for Ibn Hatim RA. He had actually fled from his city and his whereabouts were not be heard of. Saffanah was a braveheart and confidently stood in front of the Prophet ﷺ and demanded her freedom. But she was reminded of her brother everytime she made an appeal. Finally, when she was set free, she went in search of her brother Ibn Hatim. Having finally found him, he was rebuked incessantly for his cowardly behaviour . A wish for a meeting with the Prophet ﷺ lands him at the doorsteps of the messenger of Allah SAW and Adi RA narrates, “I came to the house of the Prophet ﷺ and he said,: “O Adi, accept Islam and you will be safe!” to which I replied, “I already have a religion.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “I know more about religion than you do.” I said, “You know more about my religion than I do?” The Prophet said, “Yes, are not you from the Rukusiyyah? And when you go to war, do you not share one quarter of your people’s booties?” I said, “Yes.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “I know what is preventing you from accepting Islam. You think that the only people to follow this religion are the weak and oppressed who have no strength.he further continues,’ Perhaps, the only thing that prevents you from entering this religion is what you see of the small number of Muslims and their numerous enemies. By Allah, the time is near when you would hear of the woman setting out from Qadisiyyah on her camel until she reaches this house, not fearing anyone except Allah. The Prophet ﷺ then quoted his third reason,’Perhaps what prevents you from entering this religion is that you only see that sovereignty and power rest in the hands of those who are not Muslims. By Allah, you will soon hear of treasures which we shall acquire.’ Do listen to the complete hadith to understand how his conversion to Islam took place. He fought alongside Ali ibn Abi Talib RA in the Battle of Camel and Battle of Siffin and died at the age of 102 in the year 67 H in Kufa where his grave remains to this day. Next in line for elucidation is Thumamah ibn Uthal RA who was not as famous as Ali Ibn Hatim RA but he was a handsome man who was very beloved to tribe of Yamamah which was his origin. When he was captured by the troops of the Prophet ﷺ, he said to his family, "Get what food you can and send it to Thumamah ibn Uthal." which was from whatever was reserved for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.The Prophet ﷺ then approached Thumamah RA hoping to encourage him to get converted to Islam. "What do you have to say for yourself?" he asked. "If you want to kill me as revenge," Thumamah replied, "You will have someone of royalty to kill. If, out of your kindness, you want to forgive, I will be grateful. If you want money in compensation, I shall give you whatever you ask." The Prophet ﷺ then repeated the same questions for three days only to receive the same answer. Then the Prophet ﷺ ordered his people to set Thumamah free. An interesting incident happened when Thumamah RA left the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ. He rode to a luscious garden near Madina and bathed himself and went back to the Prophet ﷺ house. He then stood before the Muslims and proclaimed Shahadah. He then went to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Muhammad, by God, there was never on this earth a face more despicable than yours. Now, yours is the dearest face of all to me." Thumamah RA then left to fulfill his Umrah and upon reaching Makkah, he began chanting in a resonant voice: "Labbayk Allahumma labbayk. Labbayk La shareeka Laka labbayk. Innal hamda wan ni'mata Laka wal mulk. Laa shareeka Lak. “ He was thus the first Muslim on the face of the earth to recite the Talbiyah. This video commences with an introduction by shaykh Yasir Qadhi on one of the greatest poets of Islam - Sayyid Ush Shu’araa Ul Mu’mineen - Hassan Ibn Thabit RA. He belonged to the Banu Najjar of the Khazraj tribe. He was from an elite household and was well versed in poetry since his childhood. He was the poet of the Prophet ﷺ meaning he always wrote poetry showering praise on him. He was also the one for whom Jibreel AS came to help with poetry in the rhythm of pre Islam. It is a bit demeaning to say, but nevertheless, Ibn Thabit RA never participated in any battle of Islam due to his cowardice.he was just not cut out to fight with enemies. There are mostly no Hadith narrated by Hassan Ibn Thabit RA but there are many Hadith in which he is mentioned. Some are as follows: Narrated Hassan bin Thabit Al-Ansari: I asked Abu Huraira, "By Allah! Tell me the truth whether you heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, 'O Hassan! Reply on behalf of Allah's Messenger. O Allah! Help him with the Holy Spirit." Abu Hurairah said, "Yes . " Aisha RA said: Once Hassan bin Thabit asked the permission of the Prophet ﷺ to compose poetry defaming the infidels. The Prophet ﷺ said, "What about the fact that I have common descent with them (referring to the Quraysh)?" Hassan RA replied, "I shall take you out of them as a hair is taken out of dough." Narrated 'Urwa: I started abusing Hassan in front of 'Aisha, but she said, "Don't abuse him, for he used to defend the Prophet ﷺ." He left for his heavenly abode in 50H and lived a long life of 110 years approximately. The life and incidents that transpired in the life of Hassan Ibn Thabit RA teach us many valuable lessons, primary among which is we should not abstain from doing whatever good we can even though we have committed sins or made huge mistakes. It is a very motivating lesson to emulate. May Allah SWT give Hidayah to one and all.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses one of the most sensitive areas of certain verses in the Hadith which have been misinterpreted regarding intimacy. The husbands can never attain marital bliss by becoming nasty and hurling hadiths at their wives. We should fathom the causes behind the marital discord and aim to resolve it by Muslim marital therapy. Just as husbands have rights, so do the women and marriage can never succeed if we are worried about our own rights. Ask yourself whether it is me who has issues or not? Kindness, love, mercy and gentleness beautifies everything more so with marriage. An explicit point for the brothers is that they have no right to be physical or force upon your wife and turn abusive if she rejects intimacy. If the woman refuses, it is between her and Allah SWT and without a valid excuse, she will be held accountable for it.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses an event that took place in the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ even before he was made a Nabi.  The story is about a merchant who came from the tribe of Zabeed from Yemen. He had merchandise with him to sell in the time of Hajj and wanted to sell this.He tries to sell it but fails due to the double standards and the hypocrisy of the Quraysh for stalling him.  This message spread across the town of Makkah until it reached Abdullah ibn Judan who convened the seniors of Quraysh and implored them to stop trampling the rights of innocents. In this gathering, there was a young man who had maturity and sensibility of leadership and he was none other than Muhammad ﷺ. It was declared that a treaty which had a foundation of equality and fairness would be signed upon.this treaty is called as Hilf Al Mutayyibeen or Hilf Ul Fudool. Why were these names given to this treaty? Do listen intently.

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari is next in the line of Sahabas up for discussion and elucidation by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. Abu Ayyub Al Ansari RA was born Khalid bin Zayd ibn Kulayb and belonged to Banu Najjar from the Khazraj tribe. We also get acquainted with details on how the Prophet ﷺ was related to Banu Najjar. Al Ansari RA was given the ultimate honour by Allah SWT of hosting the Prophet ﷺ when he arrived in Madinah. When the Prophet ﷺ entered Madinah on his camel, he was lured incessantly by the people to honour them with the privilege of hosting Rasoolullah ﷺ saying, "Stay with us, O Rasulullah." "Leave the camel," the Prophet ﷺ would say. "It is under command (from Allah).” This continued until the camel landed at the doorsteps of Abu Ayyub RA only to move from there and go forward. But it was not long before the camel retreated its steps and stopped again at the house of Abu Ayyub RA. His happiness knew no bounds and this was shared by his wife too and they were the best hosts as shall be deciphered from the Shaykh’s lecture. He was one of the strongest defenders against the Munafiqun and this quality is illustrated numerous times even so in the presence of his own wife as is indicative in the following story: During the troubled time of accusations against Aisha RA of slander, Abu Ayyub al Ansari's wife came home and said to her husband "Have you heard?" Abu Ayyub RA was very angry and said, "We should not be saying these things. It's an evil lie". And Allah sent down Ayats with reference to this exact same incident though it transpired in the privacy of the house of Abu Ayyub RA - "Why didn't you say like this person said?” There are around a 100 Hadith that have been narrated by Abu Ayyub RA and deal with various issues. Consequently, his brothers too became eminent scholars of Islam. Scholarship, teaching and authorship was his forte and he had mastered it to perfection. He was also called a polymath for this very reason. Ibn Taymiyyah was blessed with excellent students such as Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya and Ibn Kathir. This did not come as a surprise given the status of  Ibn Taymiyyah himself which was a stupendous one at that. Numerous publications and volumes have been released that have been authored by this great scholar. Some among them are: Al Asma was Sifaat (Allah's Names and Attributes) – Two volumes. Kitab al Iman (Book of the Tenets of Faith). Minhaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah (The way of the Prophet's Sunnah) – Four volumes.

7 Wisdoms Of Pain And Suffering

29 min
View
Sh. Dr. Yasir Qadhi discusses the 7 wisdoms of calamities, from the perspective of a Believer (Muslim). These are part of a larger list as authored by Al-Izz Ibn Abdus-Salam, a 13th century scholar of Islam. In part II of the khutbah, the people of Al-Ghouta (in Syria) are mentioned, their calamities, Islamic perspective and significance of this land as it is related to the end of times. Topics: Why is there pain, why is there suffering? What did Allah say to the angels when they asked such a question? How do we approach evil and suffering? If we don't have humility and faith, we may reject God due to arrogance. By rejecting God due to the existence of evil, you introduce an infinite long list of complex questions you have no answers for. Seven wisdoms of calamities and pain in this world: Demonstrates Lordship -  Only Allah is Powerful, no one else. Appreciation of the fact that we are the servants of Allah. The religiosity, Iman, Taqwa, Du'a and calling to Allah that comes as a result. Exhibition of the best Akhlaq in a person. Allah allows others to demonstrate generosity and test those who are blessed with the worldly benefits and pleasures. Appreciation of the blessings and ease in our daily life for which we ought to be thankful to Allah. Blessings of Allah on the Day of Judgment due to pain in this world. If you don't believe in day of judgment, you won't believe the wisdom of pain/evil in this world. Allah mentions in the Qur’an, “There are those people who worship Allah with a condition. If life is good, he’s happy and will happy with Allah. But if life is not good and a Fitnah happens, then he switches his faith in Allah, he ends up losing this world and the next.” [Surah al Baqarah]

Crisis Of Knowledge

38 min
View
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses a very important topic of the hour which is an impending crisis in knowledge of Deen. The Shaykh quotes numerous instances to support his stance of how knowledge precedes every magnanimous quality that one may have. For example, the story of the mother who cursed her child on his failure to respond to her call on numerous occasions and how Allah accepted her Dua while causing no harm to the son too.many stories illustrate the blessings of having sound knowledge. Please do listen. A knowledgeable scholar is better than any act of worship. Knowledge takes superiority over worship too. For instance, through knowledge, the superiority of Adam AS was exhibited over angels as the angels were great in every way except that they had not been blessed by Allah with Ilm or knowledge. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ says  - "If Allah intends goodness for someone, He gives him understanding of the religion." [Sahih Bukhari] In the rest of the lecture, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges important information on ways to gain Islamic knowledge. There are numerous institutes, centres and organisations that help in this regard and one should not make excuses to accommodate this quintessential factor in one’s life and should begin immediately so that he lives a life filled with the love for Islam.

In this video, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elaborates in vivid detail, the life and times of Salman Al Farsi RA and his role in the future of Islam. Continuing from where he left off, when Salman RA reaches Quba, he begins to get very excited about meeting Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and begins his quest to search for the three signs that shall help him identify the Messenger of Allah ﷺ - he does not accept Sadaqah, he accepts Hadiyah and there is a seal that signifies him being Rasoolullah ﷺ. We now gather valid and essential information about the incidents that transpired en route his way to meeting the Prophet ﷺ. This is a majestic and surreal moment for Salman RA and words do not do justice to illustrate his inner emotions and feelings on witnessing this impossible event. Salman RA couldn't participate in the battle of Badr and Uhud because he was bound by the laws of slavery. Then he applied the laws of Mukatibah that were suggested to him by the Prophet ﷺ. But his owner turned out be stingy and set a huge amount for his freedom - 300 date palms should be planted and 40 uqiyah of silver should be given. The Prophet ﷺ heard of this and took it upon himself to plant the date palm seeds one after the other and by the miracle of Allah bestowed in the hands of the Prophet ﷺ, all the trees were healthy and bore fruit. Salman Al Farsi RA true test of his knowledge and experiences of war came during the Battle of khandaq - explicit details have been shared and is worth a listen.a famous Hadith was narrated during this battle which was when the Muhajirun and the Ansars were calling onto Salman RA to join their side of the army which was made into groups to commence the digging of the trench.Rasoolullah ﷺ saw this and announced, “Salman minna Ahlul Bait!” which means that Salman is from Ahlul Bait! What a better honour than this to have been bestowed upon Salman! Salman RA died of khilafat of Uthman RA and there are around 30 Hadith narrated by him. When Salman Al Farsi RA was dying on his deathbed, he said to Sa’d Ibn Waqqas RA,” Do not cry in grief or eagerness for this life, but because Allah’s Messenger ﷺ has recommended that one should only collect what is sufficient as provision for a traveller. However, we did not implement his order. For many interesting tidbits as these, please do listen intently to the video and me mesmerised by the stature of Salman Al Farsi RA in Islam.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delivers an amazing lecture on the Fiqhs of Umrah. What is Umrah? The explanation given is a beautiful one. Umrah gets rid of sins and poverty just like a furnace gets rid of impurity from iron.  Next, the Shaykh discusses the rewards and benefits of Umrah, followed by the Fiqh rulings and most common issues pertaining to Umrah to the house of Allah.   The Prophet ﷺ performed four Umrahs in his lifetime - An Umrah during Dhul-Qa'dah; the Umrah of Al-Hudaibiyah, an Umrah with his Hajj, and an Umrah from Al-Ji'ranah when he divided up the war spoils of Hunain. Benefits of Umrah: Expiation of sins Eradication of poverty and attainment of wealth in your life. Jihad of weak people such as elderly and women. Mutamir are the guests of Allah - if they ask, then Allah will give them. Increase the acceptance of Dua Basics of the Fiqh of Umrah: Arkan of Umrah - Ihram, Tawaf, Saee Wajibat of Umrah - entering into Ihram at Meeqat, shaving or trimming of the hair. Sunnah of Umrah What is the Meeqat? What is Ihram from a Fiqhi perspective? The concept of Talbiyah is also pondered upon. It should be said incessantly when in Ihram until one arrives at the Bait al Haram. What should not be done in Ihram? No shaving or cutting hair No cutting nails No perfume No stitched garments for men No garment covering head for men and no wearing Niqab and gloves for women No acts of intimacy What is Tawaf and Saee? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi answers explicitly and also some Hadiths are shared relating to Zamzam. Zamzam is drunk between Tawaf and Saee. Can we do multiple Umrahs? Various positions of Imams are shared and we get a clear opinion on the same.

The Shaykh also shares some amazing stories concerning converts to Islam that he has encountered in his life, in particular, that of an Israeli convert. One of the reasons we love when a person converts to Islam is that we are so happy at the prospect of discovering people who have accepted Islam which we had taken for granted which will entitle him to twice the rewards by Allah SWT as even mentioned in one of the Hadith. Lives Of The Sahaba 64 - Bilal Ibn Rabah

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, in this video, gives testimony to illustrate in front of us the life of one of the greatest human beings to have ever walked the face of this earth and also one of the most magnanimous Sahabas who breathed for the sake of Islam and led a life in the way of Islam with immense grit, determination and conviction - Bilal Ibn Rabah RA. Bilal Ibn Rabah was born to slave parents and he had a tall, lean, fit, dark skinned personality with big lips and nose. He adorned a slight beard and it is reported that he was of the same age as Abu bakr As Siddiq RA. Bilal RA was a slave and he was owned by Umayyah Bin Khalaf. When Umayyah ibn Khalaf discovered that Bilal had converted to Islam, he began a series of persecutions against him at the instigation of Abu Jahl. In this state too, Bilal refused to obey his command and kept repeating "Ahad Ahad" (God is one). Angered by this refusal, Umayyah even sought to torture him by placing him on the hot sand in summer and place boulders on his chest. Such was the sheer Jahiliyyah of the time. When Abu Bakr RA saw this on his way, he reported the matter to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and he then was instructed to free Bilal RA for a sum of 280 dirhams which was much higher for an ordinary slave. From that day onwards, Bilal RA never left the side of the Prophet ﷺ and accompanied him everywhere he went and in every battle he fought. He married only after the death of Prophet ﷺ and died childless. Bilal RA stood on top of the Kaaba and gave the Adhan after the conquest of Mecca which was the ultimate symbol of faith. Bilal RA is the first ever Muezzin - the possessor of the most loud and beautiful voice for Adhan (hadith shared by the shaykh regarding this) in the history of Islam and he is also the first to have given the Adhan in Medina, in Mecca and in Damascus. Numerous Hadith are said with reference to Bilal RA relating to the city of Medina, Umar RA and many more. Do listen to be acquainted with these great Hadith. After the death of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he was so upset that he vowed never to recite the Adhan ever again since it pained him thinking of the memories of the Prophet ﷺ. He made a concession once on the insistence of Abu Bakr RA in Syria during the battle and he obliged. May Allah unite and reunite us with Bilal RA and the other Sahaba and the Prophet ﷺ in Jannatul Firdaus, Aameen.

This talk sees Shaykh Yasir discussing and extrapolating details on some more mawali in the history of Islam, namely - Shukran, Safeenah,Thawban, Yassar, Salman Al Farsi RA. The female mawla discussed in brief detail are - Safiyyah Bint Huyayy (former slave girl who later on went to become the wife of Prophet ﷺ), Maria Bint qibtiyah (she was an Umm Walad implying that she could not be gifted to anyone else), her sister Sireen (who was given to Hassan Ibn Thabit) and Rayhana. Commencing with Shukran, he participated in the battle of Badr and he was gifted to the Prophet ﷺ by Abdur rahman ibn awf RA. His tryst with fame is that he was amongst the four people who washed the Prophet ﷺ body during his janaza and lowered his body in the Qabar. There is mention of many Hadith narrated by Yasser RA pertaining to Salah on a journey. Yassar RA was a maula who was the shepherd of Rasoolullah ﷺ. He was freed but he continued to be of servitude to the Habib of Allah ﷺ. Another famous maula is Thawban RA who was an Arab and his grave is in Palestine. There are 100 Hadith to his credit that have been narrated by him. Once, the Prophet ﷺ said: “If somebody promises me about something, I will promise him Paradise.” Thawban RA said quickly, “I will.” The Prophet ﷺ said to him, “Do not ask anything from anybody!” After prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would ask for forgiveness three times and would recite: "Allahumma Antas-Salam wa minkas-salam tabarakta wa Dhal-jalali wal-ikram" (O Allah, You are As-Salam and from You is all peace, Blessed are You O Possessor of majesty and honour)." Another narration by Thawban RA -The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Adhere to righteousness even though you will not be able to do all acts of virtue. Know that the best of your deeds is Salat and that no one maintains his ablution except a believer.' Another maula of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was Mahran or Safeenah RA. He was owned by Umm Salamah RA and she freed him and gifted him to the Prophet ﷺ. The story behind his name Safinah is an interesting one where he says, “The Prophet ﷺ and his companions went on a trip. When their belongings became too heavy for them to carry, Muhammad ﷺ told me, ‘Open your garment.’ They filled it with their belongings, then they put it on me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me, ‘Carry it for you are a ship.’ Even if I was carrying a load of six or seven camels while we were on a journey, anyone who felt weak would throw his clothes or his shield or his sword on me so I would carry that, a heavy load. The Prophet ﷺ then told me, ‘You are a ship’ A narration by Safeenah: Hold on, the Khilafah of Abu Bakr RA was two years, and Umar RA was ten years, and Uthman RA twelve years, and Ali RA six years.”The hadith is narrated by Safeenah RA that the Prophet ﷺ said:“The Prophetic khilafah will last for thirty years. Then Allah will give the dominion to whomever He wills.”

Lives Of The Sahaba 62 - Former Slaves

64 min
View
In this enlightening video, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges details on the section of society in medieval era of Islam or pre- Islamic era called the Mawali or mamluks or Abds which means slaves. Is Islam, the status of slaves is not the same as what was in the western world. The term mamluk or Abd meant a slave and when he or she was freed, he would be known as a maula.any mistreatment to slaves was strictly forbidden in Islam and the penalty for such a misdeed was to free the slave in question. The Prophet ﷺ is said to have owned 50 - 90 mamluks in his lifetime and the interesting part of this information is that he never ever acquired an abd intentionally : rather it was always that he had been gifted one by his wives, the chieftains or Sahabas or the rulers of other countries. It is also worth mentioning and commendable that the Prophet ﷺ freed all of his Mamluks without exception and they attained the status of maulas. The practice of attaining mamluks was never a practice that was merited for or praised rather numerous instances are seen where great regard has been given to maulas so much so that different Hadith too certify this very aspect. In fact, the only way that mamluks (mostly Non Arabs) could be acquired as per Islam was if they were prisoners of war that had not been ransomed and they too would eventually convert to Islam. A mamluk worth mentioning here is Zayd Ibn Harithah RA who was the first mamluk and he was so loved and adored by the Prophet ﷺ that he chose to remain in servitude to him rather than go back to his parents. Abu Huraira RA narrated, “The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will save all the parts of his body from the (Hell) Fire as he has freed the body-parts of the slave." There were numerous mamluks at the time of Pre Islamic period and they have been mentioned by name in a book compiled by Imam as - Saliheen.some of them are - Kirkira, hormuz, badam, shukraan and many more. Abu Rafi who was the mamluk of Al Abbas, the uncle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, narrates that:i once saw Abu Dhar Al-Ghifari wearing a cloak and his slave was wearing a cloak too. I asked for the reason in similarity between the two cloaks and hue replied, "Once I abused a man and he complained of me to the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ asked me, 'Did you abuse him by slighting his mother?' He added, 'Your slaves are your brethren upon whom Allah has given you authority. So, if one has one's brethren under one's control, one should feed them with the like of what one eats and clothe them with the like of what one wears. You should not overburden them with what they cannot bear, and if you do so, help them (in their hard job)." For more such amazing Hadith and stories, do listen intently and get a fresh perspective on the status of mulas in Islam.

Elaborating on the life and times of Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Al As RA - the most ascetic amongst the Sahaba, one among the four Abadilah, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges and discusses various facets associated this great Sahaba . Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Al As RA was born when his father Amr Ibn Al As RA was just 12 years old. He was named after his grandfather but his name was changed by the Prophet ﷺ due to its negative connotations and the Prophet ﷺ named him Abdullah saying: ‘The most beloved of names to Allah is Abdullah and Abdur Rahman.’ Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Al As RA is famous for primarily keeping a journal of Hadith in the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ in which he would scribe Hadiths directly from the Prophet ﷺ. But he always sought permission from the Prophet ﷺ to do so and this request was affirmatively granted. Another magnanimous quality of Ibn Amr RA was his ultimate devotion to islam by means of extra Ibadah, memorization of the entire Qur'an in the lifetime of Muhammad ﷺ and recitation of the whole Qur'an in a single night. Also, he would fast everyday without fail and prayed Tahajjud every night. Once, Abdullah Ibn Amr RA asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, “O Messenger of Allah! Shall I record everything you say when you are angry or happy?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Yes, I do not tell anything but the truth.” This is the ultimate truth since Allah SWT has explicitly stated in the Quran that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ only spoke the truth. Among other great acts was his participation in the battle of Yarmuk and the Battle of Siffin (on the insistence of Prophet ﷺ that he must obey what his father had ordained but avoided fighting of any kind) but his heart only leaned towards matters of knowledge and Qur'an and that was his ultimate calling. There are more than 700 hadiths that have been narrated by him and he is also said to have authored"Al-Sahifa al-Sadiqah" which was a Hadith compilation of glorious repute and understanding and authority. Abdullah ibn Amr RA narrated: The Messenger of Allah SAW said, “Those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.” Abu Hurairah Rah said, ‘There is no one more knowledgeable of the sayings of the Messenger ﷺ except Abdullah ibn Amr. He used to preserve them in his heart and I used to preserve them in my heart; but, he used to write them down and I did not.’ Abdullah Ibn Amr RA narrated that, “I memorized the Quran and recited it all in one night. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I am afraid that you may live a long life and that you may get bored. Recite it over the period of a month.' I said: 'Let me benefit from my strength in my youth.' He said: 'Recite it in ten days.' I said: 'Let me benefit from my strength and my youth.' He said: 'Recite it in seven days.' I said: 'Let me benefit from my strength and my youth,' but he refused (to alter it any further)." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also added: "No one properly understands who reads the Quran in less than three days." May Allah SWT bless him and make us one like this great Sahaba.

In this video, we come face to face with the life and times of the famous Sahaba - Amr Ibn Al ‘As RA. Here, we touch base on the three generations of the ‘As - the grandfather, the father and the son. Al-'As ibn Wa'il was the father of 'Amr ibn al-'As . He was a non believer in Islam and died before Hijrah. He had two sons - Amr Ibn Al As and Hisham Ibn Al As. Amr Ibn Al As was a shrewd politician and he had the talent of influencing leaders which was in the best interest of Islam. He fought in every single battle on the wrong side. After the Battle of Uhud, The Prophet ﷺ made dua to Allah to deal with him and Allah then revealed verses in the Qur'an which explicitly revealed that this matter had nothing to do with the Prophet ﷺ and do not decide who goes to heaven or hell. Details are elucidated upon incidents that happened in connection with Amr Ibn Al As especially after the Battle of Khandaq. Amr ibn Al As participated as a New Muslim in the conquest of modern day Palestine and Syria and Battle of Yarmuk and he convinced Umar RA to conquer Egypt via indication of a threat from them. In a hadith narrated by Amr ibn Al-'Aas "When I wished to convert to Islam, I went to the Prophet ﷺ in order to swear my allegiance to him. When he extended his hand to me ,I said,'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I will not swear my allegiance to you until you seek forgiveness for me for all of my previous sins!'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O 'Amr, do you not know that migration wipes away all of the sins before it?’ In another hadith, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The people have submitted (to Allah) but 'Amr ibn Al-'As has believed (in Allah)." Once, when he sent a messenger back to Muhammad ﷺ asking for reinforcement during a particular battle, Muhammad ﷺ sent 4000 men, which included Abu Bakr RA and Umar RA, under the leadership of Abu Ubaidah ibn al Jarrah RA.When Abu Ubaidah RA arrived and ascertained his position as commander, he was met with complete opposition by Amr Ibn Al As RA. Abu Ubaidah RA accepted this in the wake of the conversation that had happened between the Messenger of Allah ﷺ where he had been advised to not create barriers based on leadership. For more such anecdotes and also Hadith relating to the death of Amr Ibn Al As RA, please give this video an intent listen.

Lives of Sahaba 59 - Ubay Ibn Ka'b

View
In this amazing talk by Shaykh yasir Qadhi, we revel in the magnanimous stature and life of the great Sahaba being discussed - Ubay Ibn Ka’b RA, the greatest Qaari of the Qur’an after the Prophet ﷺ or Kitab Ul Wahi. He is adorned with the blessed nickname of Abu Mundhir and he was one amongst the four blessed men who had to their credit the memorisation of the Quran. He had dedicated his life to the teaching of Qur'an after the death of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the Prophet’s mosque in Madina. He used to complete recitation of the entire Qur'an every 8 days. The greatest Mufassir, Ibn Abbas was a student of Ubay ibn Ka’b RA. Ibn Umar said that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Take the Qirat from four: Ibn Mas’oud, and from Ubay, and from Muadh, and from Saalim the slave of Abu Hudhayfah.” Various Hadiths have been narrated with reference to and by Ubay Ibn Ka’b RA and deserve a worthy mention: Anas RA said, "The Prophet ﷺ said to Ubay bin Ka’b, ‘Indeed Allah has commanded me to recite the Qur'an to you.’ This shows that Allah had chosen Ubay RA to be recited the Qur'an to which was nothing short of a magnanimous honour. Umar ibn al-khattab RA said, “Whoever wishes to ask about the Qur’an then let him approach Ubay bin Ka’b, and whoever wants to ask about laws of inheritance then let him approach Zayd, and whoever wishes to ask about Fiqh; then let him approach Mu'adh Ibn Jabl, and whoever wants to ask about wealth; then let him come to me, for Allah has made me a safe-keeper and a distributor.” This further reinstates the obvious that Ubay Ibn Ka’b was indeed the greatest when it came to anything pertaining to the Qur'an and he was amongst the greatest scholars of Islam. Al Waqidi said, ‘He was the first one to write for the Prophet ﷺ.’ This refers to the fact that ubay RA was among the firsts who scribed the revelations that came to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Masruq said, ‘I asked Ubay regarding some matter, so he said to me,‘O son of my brother, has this (i.e. your question) occurred?’ So I said: 'No.’ Thus he said, ‘Then let's leave it until if it happens, then we can do Ijtihaad and apply our opinion.’ Ubayy ibn Ka’b reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “O Abu Mundhir, do you know the greatest verse in the book of Allah?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Prophet ﷺ said, “O Abu Mundhir, do you know the greatest verse in the book of Allah?” I recited the verse of the throne (ayat al-kursi), “Allah, there is no God but Him, the Living, the Sustainer.” (2:255). Ubay RA related that the Prophet ﷺ once asked him: “Shall I not teach you a Surah the like of which has not been revealed in the Tawrat, nor in the Injil, nor in the Zabur, nor in the Qur’an?” “I hope you would not leave through that door until you know what it is,” said the Prophet ﷺ, obviously prolonging the suspense for Ubay RA. Ubay then says: “He stood up and I stood up with him.I tried to delay him fearing that he would leave before letting me know what the Surah is. When he reached the door, I asked:‘O Messenger of Allah! The Surah which you promised to tell me…’ The Prophet ﷺ then replied:‘What do you recite when you stand for Salat?’ So, I recited for him Surah Fatihah and he said:‘(That’s) it! (That’s) it! They are the seven oft-repeated verses of which Allah Almighty has said: “We have given you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Mighty Qur’an.'” There are a few Hadiths that have been quoted by Shaykh Yasir regarding the Witr prayer during Salt Isha and also about the Laylatul Qadr in Ramadan. May Allah SWT grant him Jannah and raise us amongst the ranks of Ubay Ibn Ka’b RA.

In this talk by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, he brings forth a detailed discussion on the life and times of Muadh Ibn Jabl RA. The Prophet ﷺ said to Ibn Jabl RA, ‘O Mu’adh, by Allah I love you dearly, so do not forget to recite after every prayer, ‘Allah help me in remembering You, in offering thanks to You, and in worshiping You properly.” Muadh excelled in Fiqh and the Qur'an so much so that Muhammad ﷺ said always, “The most learned man of my nation in halal and haram is Mu’adh Ibn Jabal.” When the Messenger of Allah SAW sent him to Yemen, he asked him, “How will you give a judgment or settle a dispute?” Muadh ibn Jabal RA answered; “I will refer to the Qur’an.” Rasulullah ﷺ then asked, “What will you do if you do not find the decree you are looking for in the Qur’an?” Muadh ibn Jabal RA answered, “I will refer to the Prophet’s Sunnah.” Rasulullah ﷺ asked, “But what will you do if you do not find a decree even in the Sunnah?” Muadh ibn Jabal RA readily answered, “I will be judge between mankind by resorting to juristic reasoning (ijtihaad) to the best of my power.” Another proof of his vast knowledge and expertise in his field is gathered from the hadith where the Prophet ﷺinstructed the whole Ummah to learn the Qur’an from 4 people: Ubayy Ibn Kab, Mu’adh Ibn Jabal, Salim Mawla Abu Hudhayfa and Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood. These stalwarts were of the highest stature in the discipline of the ones who were of the highest knowledge of Qur’an. Many hadiths are referenced with regard to Muadh Ibn Jabl RA and are each better than the former. Please do listen to your heart's content and experience the grandeur of this great Sahaba. Mu'adh Ibn Jabl RA left for his heavenly abode as a Shaheed in 18 H due to affliction with plague that wiped his entire family along with him. He died at a tender age of 33.

This enlightening video takes us into the lives of two great Sahabas - Sa’d Ibn Mu’ad and Sa’s Ibn Ubadah RA. Shaykh Yasir attempts to give us explicit details on the greatness of these two Sahabas and we should rightly listen intently. Sa'd Ibn Muadh was a name to beckon with amongst the Ansar and he belonged to the tribe of Aws.Ibn Muadh accepted Islam at the hands of Musab ibn Umair which led to the entire clan of Aws or the Banu Abdul-Ashhal following suit. When the tribe of Aws saw Sa’d Ibn Muadh returning after the conversion, they witnessed something different in his demeanour and hence said: "We swear by Allah, Sa'd has returned with a different impression." They replied "You are our Chief, the most vested in our interests, the best in your judgement, and the most fortunate in leadership." He then said: "I will not speak to a man or a woman among you until you believe in Allah and his Messenger." During the battle of Badr, Sa’d RA was consulted with regards to the matter of the second treaty of Aqabah to seek a solution on Abu Sufyan. Some people( Bani bin Quraiza) agreed to the verdict of Sa’d bin Muadh over that of the Prophet ﷺ and so it was decided to approach Sa'd bin Mu'adh for the same. He approached the Mosque and the Prophet ﷺ said,  "O Sa'd! These people have agreed to accept your verdict." Sa'd said, "I judge that their warriors be killed and their children and women be taken captives." The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have given a judgment similar to Allah's Judgment ." In a separate Hadith, the Prophet ﷺ has mentioned that , "The Throne (of Allah) shook at the death of Saad bin Muadh." In another Hadith, the messenger of Allah ﷺ has said: “Were anybody to be saved from the squeezing of the grave, it would have been Sa’d.” Sa'd Ibn ubadah was synonymous with the Khazraj tribe and was amongst the most prominent of Muhammad ﷺ companions. After the death of the Prophet ﷺ, chieftains of the Ansar gathered in a place called Saqifa to appoint Sa'd Ibn Ubadah as their next Khalifa but this was met with opposition and the other people pledged their allegiance to Abu Bakr RA and Umar RA and hence, a tiff of sorts arose between the people in question over personal issues. This brought about the result of Sa'd Ibn Ubadah never being part of any of these caliph’s group nor participating in any battles or political matters. After some years during Umar's RA caliphate, he was sternly asked to bear allegiance or leave the city of Madina and this is exactly what made him leave the city as well. Around 7 Hadiths have been narrated by Sa’d Ibn Ubadah in his lifetime. There is a Hadith that is which Sa’d ibn Ubadah reported: He said, “O Messenger of Allah, the mother of Sa’d has died, so what is the best charity I may give on her behalf?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Water.” Sa’d dug a well and he said, “This is for the mother of Sa’d.” His death was a subject of utter bizarreness wherein it was reported that he had been assassinated by the jinns when he was bathing by the striking of two spears that struck his heart.. The reason for this was even more ambiguous which was that he was urinating whilst standing. It is also said that his skin turned a hue of green. These stories are very weak and there are many broken chains of Hadith to substantiate it. So Allah knows best. This great Sahaba left for his heavenly abode in the 14th year of Hijrah.

Anas Ibn Malik RA is next in the topic of discussion by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi where we extract details and important elucidations on the life and times of this great Sahaba. He has narrated over 2000 hadiths and is aptly considered to be the third most magnanimous narrator of Hadith after Abu Hurayrah RA and Ibn Umar RA. Anas RA was an Ansari belonging to the Khazraj tribe and was born 10 years before the Hijrah. His mother was the famous and prolific Umm Sulaym RA and his step father was the great Abu Talha RA. Explicit details and numerous facts and anecdotes are shared relating to this great man and deserve a commendable section of thought. Amongst them, some have been listed below: Abu Talha Ra was blessed with enormous amounts of wealth and he valued his garden named Beruha the most which was attached close to the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ. Allah’s Divine revelation: 'you will not attain righteousness till you spend in charity of the things you love' (3.93), brought Abu Talha in front of Muhammad ﷺ and said, "O Allah's Messenger ﷺ! Allah says in His Book, 'You will not attain righteousness unless you spend (in charity) that which you love,' and verily, the most beloved to me of my property is Beeruha, so I give it in charity and hope for its reward from Allah. O Allah's Messenger ﷺ! Spend it wherever you like." Allah's Messenger ﷺ appreciated this endowment . Abu Talha and Umm Sulaym had a child of their own who was named Abu Umair RA. This child did not attain longevity of live and died at the tender age of approximately 5. It is narrated in al-Bukhari that the brother of Anas ibn Malik RA called Abu Umayr had a bird who was called al-nughayr. The bird died suddenly and he mourned its loss heavily which brought the Prophet ﷺ to him and trying to lift his spirits asked him, “O Abu ‘Umayr, what happened to al-nughayr?” This hadith highlights the nobility, humility nad great character of the Prophet ﷺ. Anas ibn Malik once said: The Prophet ﷺ used to enter Umm Sulaym RA house and sleep on her mattress and one day her sister Umm Haram said to her, “The Prophet ﷺ is sleeping in your house on your bed.” She came and saw that his sweat had soaked a piece of cloth that was on the mattress. So she started collecting that sweat and squeezing it into bottles. The Prophet ﷺ woke up startled and said, “What are you doing, O Umm Sulaym?” She said, “O Messenger of Allah, we hope for the Barakah (blessing) of this sweat for our children.” He said, “You are right.” The Prophet ﷺ had made Dua for Anas Ibn Malik RA in his lifetime which bore fruit till and after his last breath "Allahumma Urzuqu Maalan Wa Waladan Wa Barik Lahu” (O Allah, give him a wealth and offspring and bless his life)." At the end of his life, Anas Ibn Malik became blind . He died in Basra in 93H at the age of 103 years.

The life of Jabir ibn Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Haram Al-Ansari RA is touched upon by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi in this video and various anecdotes, Hadith and magnanimous personality traits of this great Sahaba are divulged in explicit details. Jabir RA participated in as many as 19 Ghazwa alongside Prophet Muhammad ﷺ but was forbidden by his father to participate in the battle of Badr and Uhud. Both he and his father had signed the treaty of Aqabah. He lived a full and accomplished life though he went blind in his old age. Many Hadith are attributed from Jabir Ibn Abdullah RA. some worth a mention are as follows: “I was accompanying the Prophet ﷺ on a journey and was riding a slow camel. The Prophet ﷺ passed by me and asked, "Who is this?" I replied, "Jabir bin Abdullah." He asked, "What is the matter, (why are you late)?" I replied, "I am riding a slow camel." He asked, "Do you have a stick?" I replied in the affirmative. He said, "Give it to me." When I gave it to him, he touched the camel with it and then that camel surpassed the others thenceforth. The Prophet (SAW) said, "Sell it to me." I replied, "It is (a gift) for you, O Allah's Messenger ﷺ." He said, "Sell it to me. I have bought it for four Dinars (gold pieces) and you can keep on riding it till Medina." When we approached Medina, I started going (towards my house). The Prophet ﷺ said, "Where are you going?" I said, "I have married a widow." He said, "Why have you not married a younger lady?" I said, "My father died and left daughters, so I decided to marry a widow (an experienced woman) (to look after them." He said, "Well done." When we reached Medina, Allah's Messenger ﷺ said, "O Bilal, pay him the price of the camel and give him extra money." Bilal gave me four Dinars and one Qirat extra. “ “Once I was in debt (in all probability it was that of his father) and the one who had lent the money came and demanded his money back. I replied to him that there was no produce this year in the wake of a disease (or something to that effect). But the lender would not budge until i had paid him back his money. Left with no choice, I went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him all about it. He requested him to come next year and he would have his loan repaid but to no avail. Then,  the Prophet ﷺ asked me to take him to my garden and after wandering there he made Dua and took a short nap. He had invoked Allah to bless my garden with a good produce of dates and lo and behold -that is what exactly happened. I then plucked the dates and paid the debt off.” May Allah SWT raise us in the ranks of the company of Jabir Ibn Abdullah RA.

In this talk by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, we are acquainted with the key members of Zayd Ibn HArithah RA family - Umm Ayman or Barakah and Usama Ibn Zayd RA. Umm Ayman was a mother figure to the Prophet ﷺ and was the former slave girl of Abdul Muttalib RA. She always took good care of the Prophet ﷺ and later went on to play key roles in the Battle of Uhud and Khaybar. When Muhammad married Khadija RA, he made an alliance of marriage between Barakah and Ubayd ibn Zaid which resulted in the birth of a son named Ayman, and that was how she gained the nickname -"Umm Ayman". Her husband was killed in the Battle of Khaybar. When she attained middle age,the Prophet ﷺ, when speaking to his companions said, "Should one of you desire to marry a woman from the people of Paradise, let him marry Umm Ayman." This resulted in the marriage between the most beloved companion of the Prophet ﷺ, Zayd ibn Harithah RA marrying her and she bore a son named Usama who went on to be a great person in the way of Islam. She died during the caliphate of Uthman Ibn Affan RA. Usama Ibn Zayd was born in Mecca 7 years before the Hijra and acquired himself the nickname of Hibbu Rasulullah ﷺ.  He bore striking resemblance to his mother in terms of complexion and looks. Lives Of The Sahaba 53 - Zayd Ibn Haritha

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi sets out on a journey to divulge details on the most blessed, beloved and prominent member of the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ. He is the only Sahabi to be mentioned by name in the Qur'an and he is - Zayd Ibn Harithah RA. Zayd ibn harithah was short and dark skinned and had a flat nose. He was separated from his family at a young age and sold as a slave in the markets of Ukaadh. But the Divine Qadr of Allah had ordained something else as this man’s future. Zayd RA was purchased from the market by a man named Hakim ibn Huzam who happened to be the nephew of Khadija RA. When Khadija RA got married to the Prophet ﷺ, she gifted Prophet Muhammad ﷺ this boy as a slave. From that day onwards, Zayd RA was pretty much family to the Prophet ﷺ and was treated likewise. Zayd (R) was married five times in his lifetime, most important amongst whom was Umm Ayman. Zayd’s father Harithah was searching for his son frantically ever since his disappearance and through another man, he became aware of his son’s whereabouts in Mecca. He set out to meet his son and landed at the doorsteps of the Prophet SAW to take back his osn Zayd RA. Muhammad ﷺ left the matter to the jurisdiction of Zayd and gave him free will to choose his path. But Zayd decided to stay alongside the Prophet ﷺ saying that he wouldn't leave his side for anything this world has to offer. This prompted the Prophet ﷺ to take Zayd as his adopted son and named him - Zayd ibn Muhammad.he accepted Islam and when time seemed apt, he was married off to the Prophet ﷺ cousin Zainab bint Jahsh. This marriage resulted in failure and met an end in the form of a divorce. The Prophet ﷺ then married Zainab after a divine revelation. This was met with severe criticism on the rules and regulations pertaining to adopted sons. Then, Allah sent down a verse in Surah Ahzab that settled matters finally. ‘…Nor has He made your adopted sons your real sons. That is but your saying with your mouths. But Allah says the truth, and He guides to the (Right) Way.Call them (adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with Allah. (Al-Ahzab 33:4-5).’ "Mohammed is not a father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last of the Prophets” (Al Ahzab 33:90). It was after this revelation that Zayd Ibn Muhammad was reverted to his name with his original roots - Zayd Ibn Harithah. “And [remember, O Muhammad], when you said to the one on whom Allah bestowed favor and you bestowed favor, "Keep your wife and fear Allah," while you concealed within yourself that which Allah is to disclose. And you feared the people, while Allah has more right that you fear Him. So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort concerning the wives of their adopted sons when they no longer have need of them. And ever is the command of Allah accomplished.” He was always sent on expeditions only as a military commander and nothing less. He died a martyr in the Battle of Mutah where other brave hearts also were martyrs -  Ja'far ibn Abi Talib and Abd Allah ibn Rawahah.on his death, Muhammed SAW wept till he was sobbing alongside Zayd RA daughter when he was questioned by Saad ibn Ubadah on his behaviour to which the Prophet ﷺ replied -'This is the yearning of the lover for the beloved.’ Many Hadith have been told since time about Zayd Ibn Harithah and by him through narrations from his son, Usama Ibn Zayd RA. Please do listen intently to be mesmerised and acquaint yourselves with the greatness of this Habib of the Prophet ﷺ.
