Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges information from verses 83 too 98 that deal with essentially the story of Dhul Qarnayn. “And they ask you about Dhul Qarnayn. Say: ‘I will recite unto you a remembrance of him’.” The beginning of this verse shows that the story of Dhul Qarnayn was being discussed among people before they came to the Prophet SAW. why was it such an interesting topic? The Tafsir by Shaykh Yasir puts to rest many questions that intrigue us and deserves a fair listen. Some pointers from the Tafsir are as follows: This story teaches us that no work can be fully done in this world without its means. Therefore, Allah gave the means of success to Dhul Qarnayn. No government can embrace victory without encouraging people and punishing the evildoers. This is the very principle which Dhul Qarnayn utilized. A vast just government cannot turn away from the varieties of the life of people and their different conditions. Security is the foremost condition of a safe social life which is why Dhul Qarnayn undertook the most laborious works to provide it with them. An able leader must be content with what Allah has bestowed upon him and should not be greedy for wealth. Power, vigour, cleverness, wealth and authority should never shroud greatness in works which was beautifully shown by Dhul Qarnayn.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi deals with verses 80 to 82 that deal with the following topics: If one needs something to be blessed, one should ensure for it to be associated with Allah. Parents of the boy who was killed were righteous and their love for their child would have negatively impacted their righteousness and relationship with Allah. The rewards of losing a child. Attributing negative to self and positive to Allah SWT. “And as for the lad, his parents were believers, and we were afraid he would impose on them insolence and disbelief.” “So we did intend that their Lord should change him for them for one better in purity and nearer in affection.” In this verse, the Qur’an refers to the secret of the second event - the murder of the lad.   “And as for the lad, his parents were believers, and we were afraid he would impose on them insolence and disbelief.” If that boy continued to live then he would have been a source of disgrace or creation of one for his faithful parents. Finally, in order to remove any doubt from Mus AS, Khidr assured Musa AS that he did not perform any of the deeds at his free will, but it was the command of Allah that he followed. And, this was the mystery that Musa AS could not bear patiently.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges details on verses 77 to 79 that deal with the continuation on Musa and Khidr AS journey, the building of a wall by Khidr builds a wall, failure on the part of Musa to keep his part of the deal and an explanation by Khidr on why he punched a hole in the boat. “So they twain departed; until, when they reached the people of a town. They asked its people for food, but they refused to make them guests. Then they found in it a wall about to fall, and he (Khidr) set it up. He (Musa) said: ‘If you had wished you could have taken a wage for it!’”“He (Khidr) said: ‘This is the separation between me and you. Now I will inform you of the interpretation of what you could not bear patiently’.” “…He (Musa) said: ‘If you had wished you could have taken a wage for it!’” Musa AS thought that the action of Khidr was not just that a person might sacrifice like that for a group of people who were so mean. It was at this exact time that the separation of the learned man and Musa AS took place due to inability of Musa AS to execute patience on his part as he had promised earlier.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses verses 45 to 51 where he deals with topics pertaining to money and children and how they are only the adornments of this world and the topic of criminals being presented their book of deeds. Shaykh Yasir begins with verse 45 where Allah SWT has summarised the story of the two gardens beautifully. The verse delves upon the plants and pleasantness of the earth, and, then, the appearance of the Divine Wrath which caused them to turn into ashes. This serves as a warning for the haughty who are neglectful of Allah. In the next verses, Allah has defined the position of wealth and the power of man - the two main pillars of the life in this world. The Quran explains the three stages pertaining to the Hereafter and they are -  the one before the resurrection of human beings, the Resurrection itself and the events after Resurrection. The recorded document will exhibit all our deeds before us which will be an embodiment of our good and evil actions, injustices and justices and vices and treacheries. In the final verses, Allah SWT asserts that for the creation of the heavens and the earth, the creation of Iblis and his progeny, He did not need anyone’s help. Therefore, His power is complete and He is not in need of the help of Satans and hence, it is binding upon us worshippers to only obey Allah and no one else.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses verses 38 to 44 that deal with topics such as what to say when feeling jealous or arrogant, the importance of providing constructive criticism, how frivolous the wealth in this dunya is and how it does not guarantee continuity in this world or the Hereafter. The verses in this lecture bring forth an exchange of words between the faithless and the faithful man and how each conversation is a comparison of what each has and how content he is with it. The faithful man boasted of his belief in Allah and attributed everything he had to his Creator which was a complete opposite to what the faithless man of the two gardens believed in. The faithful said that he was honoured that his Creator and his Sustainer was Allah.he also admonished his friend for being pride and haughty and glorifying the life of this world, while he glorified his belief, faith, and monotheism. The faithless man happiness was short lived as Allah had commanded for his green gardens and his arrogance and stupidity was realised by him to the fullest on seeing a barren and annihilated land in the place of his fruitful gardens of which he was so proud once. This horrific sight made him comprehend his great mistake and he ultimately realised that the protection, guardianship and Power belong to Allah, the Lord Who is the Truth Himself.

In this lecture, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses verses 19 to 22 of Surah Al Kahf that deal with the crux of the story of the people of the cave -What is the promise of Allah? What caused them to be discovered? The sleep of the people of the cave was so prolonged that when they became awake, it was nothing less than a resurrection. This sleep and wakefulness was a miracle of sorts since there was no decay of bodies, no food and water was consumed. All this could only be possible because of Allah’s care for them in this duration and that He alone has power and control over every deed of ours. The youth passed away and their bodies were inside the Cave when the people went to see them when news got around of this incident.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves into immense detail on the topics of permissibility of fleeing his community due to inability to practice his religion and also about how the youth slept 300 years in the cave (Kahf) and were protected by Allah SWT which are discussed in verses 14 to 18 of Surah Al Kahf. In these verses, we see how the truly believing youths reasserted the fact that Allah was their Lord and he was the Lord of the heavens and the earth. They opposed the vast majority of people around them who were believers of polytheism and tried their best to annihilate polytheism and idolatry but to no avail. Hence, left with no choice, they decided to alienate themselves from this terrible environment which did not encourage Islam and sought refuge in the Cave. The Qur’an explicitly elaborates on the wonderful life led by the youth of the Cave and it truly deserves a fair listen. Seerah – 61 The Tribe of Banu Quraytha

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now moves on to discuss the fate of the Banu Quraydha who had betrayed the Muslims and sided with the Quraysh. When the Prophet ﷺ is on the verge of return to his house after  a month of fatigue,he is greeted by Jibreel AS who commanded the Prophet ﷺ to go to the Banu Quraydha and that he cannot pray Asr until he has reached his destination. The first to reach was Ali ibn Abi Talib RA. The Prophet ﷺ told him to hold up the flag of Islam. He hears the people there speaking very ill of the Prophet ﷺ and tries hard to prevent the Prophet ﷺ from being in the vicinity of the dirty talk and tells him to camp far away. The story of Abu Lubaba RA and his story of seeking repentance from Allah is a very interesting one and should not be missed. He is a great sahabi who has witnessed Badr but didn't fight. He also fought in Uhud and other battles and he has an excellent record to show his love for the Prophet ﷺ. The Banu Quraydha surrendered on the 25th day of the seige after their supplies began to dwindle and there seemed no opportunity to escape of flee. Next up for discussion is the judgement of Sa’d Ibn Muadh RA in the matter of the tribe of the Aws. What follows and his decision taken and how it is taken is a sheer work of art and it pleases the Messenger of Allah ﷺ no end.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now culminates the battle of Ahzab in this final lecture on the same. Here, the main point of discussion is the skirmishes that were happening amidst the Quraysh and the Ghatafan and how it turned out to be their own undoing. The weather also seems to have played a role that is paramount to the defeat of the Ahzab army. Hudhayfah ibn Yaman RA describes it as a night that was studded with thunderstorm, strong winds, tornadoes and nail biting cold. He is sent by the Prophet ﷺ as a spy into the opposition army to find out about their innermost intentions. He goes as instructed and is delighted to return with the good news of their withdrawal of the army due to the inclement weather and the supposed treachery of the Banu Quraydha. What did Allah use to realise the victory in the battle of Ahzab? The imaan of the sahabah and the dua of the Prophet ﷺ. Nuaym ibn Masud  The ignorance of the Quraysh with regards to the rules of the Ghatafan. The duration of the war. The armies of winds and angels sent by Allah.

Seerah - 59 The Battle of Khandaq Ahzab P3

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now continues from where he left off , that is, the backstabbing act of the flipping of the alliance of Banu Quraydha. When the Prophet ﷺ had confirmed information that the shift was indeed true, he split his contingency of the army and sent one part to guard the fortress having the women and the children and the other part guarding the entry and exit of the trench. When the Quraysh reached their destination, they were completely baffled by the trench realising their inability to charge and so they just sat it out and waited since there was no dearth of supplies whatsoever. As an aftermath of this battle, the death of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh RA was the most grievous and upsetting. He is the chieftain of the Aws and was the earliest converts to Islam under Musab ibn Umair. Sa'ad was the one for whom the angels prayed his janazah and took his body up and for whom it is narrated in Bukhari that the throne of Allah shook at the death of Sa'ad. A major development that turned the tide for the Muslim army was the advent Nuaym ibn Masud Al-Ghatafani from the tribe of Gatafaan. He was the one whom Allah chose to undo the opposition army completely. On the instructions of Prophet ﷺ, he commences his plan by going to the Banu Quraydha and then the Quraysh and plants the seeds of doubt among them. How does he do that? What does he say that make the tribes believe him easily? What is the outcome of this ? Listen intently and be mesmerised at how this incident sets the base for the destruction of the Ahzab army.

Seerah 58 The Battle of Khandaq Ahzab P2

55 min
View
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues on the topic of Battle of Khandaq and discusses the severe food shortage at the time of this battle when the sahabah would consume dried barley with oil and such bare minimums. Many miracles of the Prophet ﷺ are depicted during the preparation for the battle - The quantity of food prepared by Jabir RA wife and how it increased and was sufficient for more than a 1000 people because of dua made by Prophet ﷺ over it. The stone that broke whilst digging when the Prophet ﷺ made Dua though it was not breaking even after various attempts by the sahabas. During the crumbling of the stones, the Prophet ﷺ had said about conquering Syria, Persia and Yemen just as if he could see it in the form of various anecdotes - the key, the pillars and the doors respectively. From the leaders of the opposition - the Quraysh, there were three leaders of importance: Abu Sufyan - his actual name was Sakar ibn Harb ibn Umayyah. The Banu Hashim and the Banu Umayyah were rival clans. His son Muawiyah became the first 'king' of Islam and founded the Umayyad dynasty. Uyaynah ibn Hisn - a crude, uncivilised, barbaric bedouin with immoral manners. Tulayha - he was from the Banu Assad who had declared himself falsely to be a prophet. Around this time, a severe setback to the ongoing preparations came in the form of a complete drift of the Banu Quraydha’s alliance towards the opposition. Banu Nadheer meets the chieftain of of the Banu Quraydha, Ka'b ibn Asad al Quradi. It instigated a profound fear in the hearts of the sahabas as they now were contemplating the effects this would have on the women and children in the fortress of al Fari and also the fate of the 2500 who were inside the trench.

Seerah 57 The Battle of Khandaq Ahzab P1

73 min
View
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi moves on to lay emphasis on the next major battle that was fought which is the battle of Khandaq or Battle of Ahzab that took place in the year 5H in Shawwal. What propelled the battle? It basically started off with an instigation of the tribe of Banu Nadheer. They wanted to avenge the humiliation they had received of being expelled from their lands because of their attempt to assassinate the Prophet ﷺ. So this resulted in the,m joining hands with the Gatafaan and Quraysh after solid tactics of convincing and offering returns in exchange for this support. Abu Sufyan was the one who led the battle of Khandaq under who were 10,000 men whereas the Madinah Muslims were only 2500 in number. The Prophet ﷺ began contemplating on the ways in which to approach this battle and sought help from the sahabas as was the norm before every major Ghazwa.one of them - Salman al Farsi suggested that they should begin building  a trench. Henceforth, the Prophet ﷺ commanded for the trench to be built.10 people were assigned to build each portion of the trench which was approximately 2 km long, 13 ft wide and 7-9 km in depth. Next, was the issue of the women, the elderly and the children and the Prophet ﷺ commanded for them to be sent to Al Fari, which was the fortress of the Banu Harithah. Only one young man made it to this fortress - Hassan ibn Thabit. Why was he not made a part of the army despite being able enough to fight? Listen intently to fully fathom the reason. A brief biography of Hassan Ibn Thabit RA is also shared so as to understand his unwillingness to fight or hold a sword. Building a trench isolated the Prophet ﷺ and his fleet of sahabas from the outside world and this also resulted in a shortage of food supplies. They had built this trench as a mere stalling tactic to avert the opposition and fully relied on Allah’s help which they firmly believed would be theirs soon. And that is exactly what happened as we shall see in the next lecture. Do not miss it.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves deeper into the reason behind the slander of Aisha RA which was the need for revenge by the hypocrites after Allah had exposed them in Surah Munafiqun.Abdullah ibn Ubayy capitalised on the opportunity the minute he saw it and sought to get even through Aisha RA. Here we see a mention of her aunt - Umme Mistah who was in fact Abu Bakr RA sister. And how a conversation with her makes her aware of the fact that a filthy and evil act of slandering against her has begun in her vicinity. She then rushes to her parents house after seeking permission from the Prophet ﷺ who sees that something is amiss about her. When she reaches her parents home, she expresses her shock about whether people are actually indulging in this horrible act and this shoes us the innocence and sensitivity of Aisha RA and how this made her cry endlessly. Three others of the sahabah made it even more difficult as they were prime factors in the spreading of this disgusting rumour and they were -Mistah (Aisha's RA second cousin), Hamala bint Jahsh, Hasani bint Thabit. Testimony is sought from Ali RA and Usama bin Zaid RA by the Prophet SAW and each of them suggest the Messenger of Allah what they think. Then the help of Bareerah, the maid servant of Aisha RA is called for in citing details on the matter that transpired that night. The end to these false rumours and the horrendous slander of Aisha RA came in the form of Allah’s intervention through verses and revelation to the Prophet ﷺ. The first section of Surah Nur is a firm declaration on the punishment that shall be meted out for slandering . This story reasserts the honorable and high stature of Aisha RA. She is the mother of the believers and is pure, the daughter of the pure, and she is the wife of the Prophet ﷺ. Her purity and dignity has been verified by Allah SWT and one who does not uphold this  is not from among the Muslims.

In this lecture, Shaykh Yasir commences with a brief discussion on Zaid Ibn Thabit and how he was instrumental in many important decisions from an Islamic point of view. Why was he chosen from the Sahabas to learn Hebrew? Listen intently to find out. A major event that happened in and around the same time was the blessed birth of the grandson of the Prophet ﷺ - Al Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib RA. And then followed the birth of Husayn Ibn Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA in the very next year. These two grandsons have  profound status in Islam and merit huge amounts of respect for what they shall do in the future in the way of Islam. The rules of Azaan in the ear after birth, the rulings related to Aqeeqah and many such positions were elaborated upon at this time. "Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the young men of Jannah and there father is better than them." This was a famous hadith regarding these stalwarts of Deen. The next major incident that occured is the expedition of al-Muraisi and Banu al-Mustaliq where al-Muraisi was the location and Banu al-Mustaliq was the tribe. They were siding the Quraysh against the Muslims on multiple occasions. Al-Haairs was the chieftain of the Banu al-Mustaliq. When the Prophet ﷺ heard of the plans of Banu Al Mustaliq and their evil intentions against the Muslims, he made an expedition with 700 sahabas during 6 H and they achieved an easy victory over them. How did this happen and who proved helpful here? Shaykh Yasir answers beautifully. Two major events took place after the expedition of Al Muraisi: The capture of the daughter of the chieftain of the Banu Al Mustaliq tribe, Juwayriyya bint al-Harith and her subsequent marriage to the Prophet ﷺ. The embracing of Islam by the entire tribe of Banu Al Mustaliq.

In this aforesaid lecture, Shaykh Yasir attempts to provide explicit details on the topic that is marked with controversy - the expulsion of Banu Nadheer which was in actuality, an event that led to the Battle of Ahzab as this tribe was chiefly if not solely responsible for the Battle. The Banu Nadheer were owners of massive lands filled with date palm trees and their fortresses. Huyayy ibn Akhtab was the chieftain of Banu Nadheer whose daughter is Safiyah who will be the future wife of the Prophet ﷺ. Whenever the tribe saw the Prophet ﷺ and the sahabah, their chiefs would get very happy and welcome the Prophet ﷺ. but the harsh reality was their bad intention, which was to assassinate the Prophet SAW. Of course, their evil intentions never bore success due to the help of various factors as can be heard in the lecture. Surah Ma’idah is complete with details on the treachery of the Banu Nadheer. Many issues transpired with the Banu Nadheer that weakened them immensely of which was their self destruction of their huge fortresses and acres of date palms when being asked by the Prophet ﷺ to leave Madinah. Only the converts to Islam were asked to remain with their houses and other property. Next in the discussion is the Tafseer of Surah Hashr and we realise why this Surah is called Hashr with reference to the tribe of Banu Nadheer.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now moves on to divulge details on the massacres of Al Raji and Bir Mauna which became the subject of immense grief to our beloved Prophet ﷺ. The names mentioned above are after the names of the two wells. When the tribe of Hudhayl started planning an attack on Madinah under the leadership of Khalid ibn Sufyan al Hudhani, the Prophet ﷺ decided to attack and execute him. Abdullah ibn Unays al Juhany was assigned for this job and this occurred in Muharram, 4 H. This tribe got in touch with two other tribes - Udal and Kaara and paid them to make the Muslims believe that they intended to accept Islam and make the Prophet ﷺ provide them with the best teachers.so, under the guidance of Asim ibn Thabit, teachers were sent to the well of Ar Riji where 100 warriors attacked them. Asim bin Thabit died a Shaheed and Allah took care of his burial. How did this happen? Delve into the lecture and find out. Khubayb, Zaid and Abdullah ibn Tharik were those who eventually surrendered to the tribes and what transpired with them is a soul wrenching and should be listened to intently so as to comprehend fully the sacrifices that the sahabas made to protect our Prophet ﷺ and consequently our Deen. The second incident that occurred was the massacre of Bir Mauna which was even worse in terms of magnitude and was the worst massacre one had ever seen. Bir was the major tribe of the Najd and  Abul Bara Amar ibn Malik, the chieftain of Najd came to Madinah and was very impressed with Islam. He asked from the Prophet ﷺ to provide him with teachers so that he could learn more. Amar ibn Tufail and Haram ibn Milhan are two names that make up this massacre incident and one should fathom the graveness of this treachery displayed on the part of Amar Ibn Tufail. After similar promises made at the time of Al Raji, the Prophet ﷺ provided 70 teachers and when they reached the well of Bir Mauna, they were surrounded and killed except for three - Ka'b ibn Zaid, Amar ibn Umayah and Munzir ibn Muhammad There are numerous benefits that one can extract from these incidents and one should listen to this lecture to acquaint themselves well with these.

Seerah 50 The Battle of Uhud Part 5

View
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi culminates the series on the Battle of Uhud commencing with a mention of Safiyyah RA and her witnessing the death of Hamza RA. The sight of the mutilated body of Hamza RA was so bad that the Prophet ﷺ cried a lot. It was clearly a matter of personal vengeance meted out to Hamza RA at the hands of the Quraysh. Mutilation was henceforth declared forbidden in Islam. The 70 Shaheeds of the Battle were now to be buried and the order was decided by the Prophet ﷺ. those who knew the Qur'an were given precedence and preference over the rest. Only one prisoner of war was captured by the Muslims whose name was Abu Uzza and he was executed in the battlefield itself because of what he had done. He had betrayed the Prophet ﷺ on a promise he had made during the Battle of Badr and fought against the Muslims. Treachery was something that was unacceptable in Islam and so he met the end he deserved. The Prophet ﷺ now returned to Madina and he went to the homes of the Shaheed to break of the news of their beloved achieving martyrdom. One such house was of Hamana bint Jahsh who was married Mus'ab ibn Umair RA.more details are shared on the rules of mourning the death of a beloved and one should listen intently to derive benefits. Next we analyse whether the Battle of Uhud was a victory or a loss. Some pointers are shared: In terms of the aim to annihilate the Muslims, the Quraysh failed badly whereas the Muslims were able to defend Madinah successfully. The Quraysh left the battlefield and not the Muslims. The Muslims had one prisoner of war whereas the Quraysh had none. Next the Shaykh compares the Battle of Badr with that of Uhud and numerous wisdoms can be sought from this . please listen intently to unravel some of these. We also learn that nobody has a right to interfere with the Qadr of Allah as is evident in the lecture.Victory is not easily attainable and a lot of testing times, struggle , pain and suffering goes into the process as was depicted when even the Prophet ﷺ became injured. The main lesson that we can imbibe from this battle is that disobedience to the Prophet ﷺ when they turned to the war booty as a lure of this world is what caused them the humiliation and sort of a defeat . sincerity to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ in the time of Badr gave them the honour and prestige of a victory whereas the love of the Dunya was met with a defeat.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges details on the battle of Uhud as the series continues and numerous interesting facts come to the fore. The Prophet ﷺ was surrounded by 9 people that included Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas and Talha ibn Ubaydullah . there were two muhajiroun and seven ansar. Qataada ibn An Nouman Al Awsi was an Ansar and Shaykh yasir narrates his story for us to fully fathom the happenings in the Battle of Uhud simultaneously displaying the undying love , admiration and respect that all had for our beloved Prophet ﷺ. The next incident that is shared is the incident of the death of Musab ibn Umair who bore a striking resemblance to the Prophet ﷺ in physical attributes. To top it all, he was wearing a cloak gifted to him by the Prophet ﷺ and this further aggravated the confusion when it was announced that our beloved Prophet ﷺ had been killed in the battle. The sahaba were still searching for the Prophet ﷺ when Ka'b ibn Malik RA finally discovered him. When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was found, two arrows were seen piercing his helmet. Abu Ubayda and Abu Bakr RA sought to dislodge the arrows themselves and at the end, Abu Ubayda was given the coveted job which left him without a  few teeth as he pulled the arrows out. The story of Ubay ibn Khalaf, the filthy evil mushrik and his vow to kill the Prophet ﷺ is next up for discussion. Nothing of the sort happened and only the opposite took the form of reality. Allah’s wrath unfolded on him by leaps and bounds which clearly makes it evident that Allah becomes even angrier on those who kill the Prophet. When the Prophet ﷺ returned home, his wounds were washed by Fatima RA and the wounds were severe . so she had to burn the date palm leaves and apply its paste on the wounds in order for the bleeding to cease. The other women of the household such as Aisha RA and Umme Saleem RA attended to the requests for water, food canisters etc in the Battle of Uhud.

Seerah 48 Martyrdom of Hamza Uhud Part 3

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves into further discussions on the battle of Uhud and analyses the after effects of the fleeing of Quraysh post the attack by the Muslims on them. The most prized possessions in any war are good weapons, good armour, animals, tents and much more. When the Muslims saw these left behind by the Quraysh, they instantly began accumulating the ghaneema. But it did not occur in line with the rulings of the Fiqh. Consequently, they didn't even get their share and also made a disaster that we shall learn about in the minutes ahead. They were devoid of the booty or the victory of the battle. The only person who inflicted a genuine military loss on the Muslims was Khalid ibn Waleed at the time and even as he was leaving the battlefield, he was constantly thinking of ways to achieve a victory. At last, he sensed an opportunity in the wake of the collection of the ghaneema by the Muslims without an armour and hence, he returned with an entourage and counter attacked the Muslims. One of the most tragic events during the course of these events was the death of Husayn ibn Jabir who was the father of Hudhayfa or 'Yaman'. Hudhayfa embraced Islam before the Prophet ﷺ migrated and was known as 'the keeper of secrets'. Why was he nicknamed so? Listen intently to discover valuable facts and information. Hudhayfa and Yaman were rewarded with the reward of Badr without fighting in Badr. So when in the battle of Uhud, a group of Muslims on listening to the false whispers of shaytan and also the fact of being unable to recognize Yaman began killing him. Hudhayfa saw this act and yelled profusely to stop doing so but his pleas fell on deaf ears. The Prophet ﷺ paid him the Diya of a 100 camels for his father from the baytul maal. Hudhayfa distributed the acquired money to the poor and remained good henceforth.

Seerah 47 The Battle of Uhud Part 2

This lecture by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues with the happenings of the Battle of Uhud and we gather more details on the same. He arrives on Uhud on the 14th of Shawwal, 3 H. They come via date palms field rather than a highway. Why does he do so? The Prophet ﷺ started organising his army and anyone under the age of 15 was sent back such as Abdullah ibn Umar, Zaid ibn Thabit, Usama ibn Zayd ibn Harithah, Abu Saeed al Khudri, Zaid ibn Arqam. Raf'i ibn Khadij was 14 but yet he was asked to remain because he was an excellent archer. Samurah ibn Jundu also begs to stay since he was an excellent wrestler and had defeated Rafi several times. The Prophet ﷺ encourages his army on the 15th of Shawwal to prepare them for the battle and hence, asks the Sahaba after taking out his own sword "who will take this sword from me and fight?" Zubair ibn Al Awwam was the first to volunteer. Then the Prophet ﷺ asked "who will give the sword the right it is owed".  Abu Dujana said, "and what is the Haq of the sword?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "you fight the enemy with it until it breaks". The first thing the Quraysh tried to do as the battle began was the separation of the Ansar and Muhajiroon. How did they do so? Listen intently. The story of the mubaraza that took place between Talha ibn Abi Talha and Ali ibn Abi Talib is an interesting one and illustrates the bravery of Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA at the same time valuing the ties of kinship. Hamza RA, alongside Ali and Abu Dujana RA killed a plethora of Qurayshis and thus, the initial impact of the Battle of Uhud was devastating. The Muslims had the upper hand and forced the Quraysh to take a back foot.

Seerah 46 The Battle of Uhud Part 1

The lecture delves on the next big battle that took place after Badr - the Battle of Uhud. Shaykh Yasir attempts to elucidate vividly on the battle . The battle of Uhud was a war that was undertaken by the people of Mecca or the Quraysh to avenge Badr. the calamity and loss incurred by them ignited the battle of Uhud as a means of revenge. There were many reasons for this war which included religious, political, economic and social causes. The Battle of Uhud took place in Shawwal, 3H. The Quraysh set out for Uhud on the 7th of Shawwal, 3 H and reached there in a meagre 7 days. The Quraysh boasted of an army of 3000 men, 200 horses, 700 armours for men (which they managed to gather due to the support of the two major tribes of the time - Kinana and Tihama).  Abu Sufyan was the chieftain and was flanked by his strengths -on the right was Khalid bin Waleed and on the left flank was Ikrimah ibn Abu Jahl. With the timely help of Al Abbas, the Prophet ﷺ is informed of the news of the Battle and he immediately rushed to the leaders of the Ansar particularly Sa'd ibn Rabi'ah. The Prophet ﷺ began his preparations for the war by dividing his army into three main groups - The muhajiroun under Mus'ab ibn Umair, the Aws under Usail ibn Hudhay and the Khazraj under Al Hubab ibn Al Munthir. The geography of the mountain of Uhud is explained which is that it is not just one mountain but a whole series of mountains stretching over a mile long situated in the north or northwest of Madinah. The Prophet ﷺ has said "Uhud is a mountain of Jannah". Why did the Prophet ﷺ go to Uhud? What was the military genius behind this decision? Shaykh Yasir unfolds the answers and we will be truly mesmerised by the reasoning. Eventually 700 muslims reached Uhud and they set up their camps. The Battle of Uhud is an excellent illustration of the trust and Iman one should have in Allah. Indeed when we have Allah on our side we can accomplish anything. In spite of being under armoured and lack of enough animals and everything against them, the Muslims under the able leadership of Prophet ﷺ displayed impeccable valour, strength, trust and Iman in Allah and they were rewarded generously as we shall see in the upcoming lectures.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi summarises the events that occurred during the Meccan period in this video. He commences his talk by elucidating on the days of Jahiliyyah or Pre Islam and we understand the categories of people living in that time - ancient Arabs(extinct) and the remaining Arabs - Adnan and Qahtan. 3 great things happened during the reign of Abdul Muttalib - discovery of Zamzam, sacrifice of Abdullah and the Story of attack of Abraha on the Kaaba. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had a lineage that was unparalleled and it was this lineage that protected him in Mecca. Biography of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is briefly touched base upon and topics pertaining to his birth, his occupation and also there is mention of Zaid ibn Harithah RA who had a son like relation with the Prophet ﷺ. The next event that is discussed is the rebuilding of the Ka'bah. It took place when the Prophet ﷺ was around 35 years old. What were the events that transpired in the course of this magnanimous and monumental occurrence? The beginning of the revelations began with that of Iqra - when the Prophet ﷺ was around 40 years. The assistance and guidance he received from his beloved wife Khadijah RA at the time is a topic for all wives to imbibe and emulate. The first two converts in the household to Islam were - Khadija RA and Waraqah Ibn Nawfal RA. The one who did so outside the household is Abu Bakr As Siddiq RA. The entire Dawah that was done by Prophet ﷺ can be summarised in 5 ways - Private dawah - 2 to 3 years Open dawah to people of Mecca - 7 years Open dawah to all of Arab peninsula Dawah along with physical confrontation or war  like Badr, Uhud and Ahzaab Open to dawah to all without any war - which happened due to the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah Open dawah with defensive and offensive dawah . The emigration to Abyssinia  and how this affected the pride of the Quraysh is next up for discussion. This magnanimous decision results in the conversion of Umar ibn al Khattab RA and Hamza ibn Muttalib RA to Islam.the death of Abu Talib RA during the boycott that took place in Mecca against the Prophet ﷺ and followed by the death of Khadija RA left our beloved Prophet ﷺ in a state of deep grief and agony. Isra wal Miraj was the personal miracle gifted to the Prophet ﷺ to alleviate the sorrow of Taif and the death of his beloved wife Khadija RA.

In this lecture, Shaykh Yasir delves into the mini expeditions that took place between the period of Badr and Uhud. Shaykh Yasir commences his lecture with the expedition of Karkara tul Qudr which transpired seven days after the battle of Badr and the tribes of Banu Saleem and the Gatafan went all out to attack Madinah. This news also made the Prophet ﷺ to counterattack them. The second expedition was that of the Sareea of Saweeq that occurs around 2 or 3 months after Badr. this is in connection with Abu Sufyan and how he wanted to avenge the battle of Badr. What did he do and what was the result? Shaykh Yasir elucidates. The Sareea of Qarada is next up for discussion and it took place before Uhud. The expedition was in relation to the Quraysh and their  leader Safwan ibn Umayyah was placed in charge. An important topic for discussion is that of the assassination of Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf who was born to a an Arab father and a Jewish mother. He was a wealthy and handsome poet of high stature. He also undertook an expedition against the Muslims and his position on Islam was very clear from the beginning. He had also made an assassination attempt on our Prophet ﷺ. After all these misdeeds, Prophet ﷺ made it very clear that Ka'b needs to be assassinated. Muhammad ibn Maslamah , a Sahabi from the Aws, was entrusted with the job.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi moves on to now discuss the events that transpired between the period of Badr and that of Uhud. The beginning is made with the elucidation of the most interesting assassination attempts made on our beloved Prophet ﷺ. Here two names come to the fore who were involved in this horrific attempt - Umayr ibn Wahab al Jumahe and Safwan ibn Umayyah. After a discussion of the way they will do this deed, Umayr went back home ,sharpened his sword and covered it with poison.what happened next? Was he successful in his misdeed? Shaykh Yasir unravels the truth. What is the stance of the Shaykh on the saying that our Prophet SAW discriminated against the Jews? What is the truth in this? We are provided with satisfactory answers and our doubts are put to rest. Why were the Banu Qaynuqa expelled from Madinah? What benefits were derived from such an action? The Banu Qaynuqa were the largest of the jewish  tribes and also the least harsh. The Prophet SAW was put in such a situation to choose sides and this was unacceptable. The Munafiqs were coming on to their own by showing their true colours. A hadith which deals with the issue of Nifaq or hypocrisy is as follows: When one of the leaders of the hypocrites came to the Prophet ﷺ and a normal conversation took place between them and he had left, the Prophet ﷺ said, "What an evil man he is".to this,  Aisha RA said ,"you were just smiling and laughing with him!". The Prophet ﷺ then said "Oh Aisha have you ever known me to be crude and rude? This is the leader of the hypocrites. Verily the worst in the eyes of Allah are those whom we are forced to smile at even if our hearts curse". Allah says, "If they do treachery to you, you can never do treachery to them".

The incidents that transpired in Mecca post the Battle of Badr make up this video by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. The soldiers who had returned back from Badr was Al Haysamaan al Kuzaee who informed the people of Quraysh of the death of their key members such as Ubtah, Shaybah, Abul Hakim, Umayyah ibn Khalaf. How did Allah get rid of the very last of the Quraysh, Abu Lahab? What blessings have been conferred on the people who participated in the Battle of Badr? Numerous Hadith are known that illustrate this very aspect. Jibreel AS came down himself and asked the Prophet ﷺ, "How do you view those of Badr?" and the Prophet ﷺ said those who participated in Badr were "the best of us". Next in line for discussion is the the incident of Hatim ibn Abi Balta'a and his betrayal of trust of the Prophet ﷺ. Why did he do so? What is the Prophet ﷺ verdict on this? The Prophet ﷺ used Badr to raise the status of Hatim. How? Shaykh Yasir provides suitable answers. What was the effect of the Battle of Badr? The establishment of the Muslims as a separate entity. Demoralization for the Quraysh. Internal treachery within Madinah for the first time ever. The final part of the video is a detailed analysis of the Tafseer of Surah Anfal which was revealed on the land of Badr quite literally.

Shaykh Yasir narrates some more incidents pertaining to the Battle of Badr and post the battle , what were the after effects. 70 prisoners of the Battle of Badr were taken back.why did this happen and what was the wisdom behind this? Two prisoners were executed-Anathr ibn Harith and Uqbah ibn Abi Muayt. The Prophet ﷺ proceeded from Badr on Monday, 20th Ramadan. The people of Madina could not believe their ears and eyes until they saw Zayd ibn Harithah returning on the camel of the Prophet ﷺ named Al Qaswa. The Prophet ﷺ took the captive 70 prisoners with them to the masjid and told each person who had captured them to tend to them. And the chieftain of the Quraysh who was among the prisoners was tended to by the Prophet ﷺ himself. The incidents relating Al Abbas ,Abl As ibn Rabbiyah,Amr ibn Abu Sufyan and Abu Aziz ibn Umair also make for an interesting listen in this video and we benefit from these stories because of the lesson and morals each of these stories translate into. The prisoners of Badr eventually came around and accepted the religion of Islam such as Nawfal ibn Harith, Abbas, Aqil ibn Abi Talib, Suhayl ibn Amr and many more. What after effect did the Battle of Badr imply in Mecca and Madinah? Idolatry in Madinah vanished completely as the pagans who stayed in Madina realised that paganism would have to leave from here. Nifaq or hypocrisy came into existence.

Seerah 40 The Battle of Badr 5

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues the series on the Battle of Badr and we are now acquainted in explicit detail about the Tafseer of the following verse from the Noble Qur'an: "And when Satan made their deeds seem fair to them and said, 'None from among men shall prevail against you this day, and I am your protector.' But when the two armies came in sight of each other, he turned on his heels, and said, 'Surely, I have nothing to do with you; surely, I see what you see not. surely I fear Allah; and Allah's punishment is severe." After the army of the Quraysh had fled, the Prophet ﷺ told the Sahaba that would remain there for three days for many purposes - Firstly,to provide burial for the shaheed. Secondly, to ensure the Quraysh don't launch a counter attack and thirdly, to decide the outcome of the war - who had emerged victorious. Next was the issue of the spoils of war (ganeema). The Quran and sunnah explicitly tells us that the previous ummah were not allowed to withhold the ganeema. The Quran gives immense detail on the proper method of distribution of Ganeema: 1/5 of it is put aside and is divided into 5 shares. 0.04 of the booty goes to the Prophet ﷺ. 0.04 of the booty goes to the Ahlul Bayt . 0.04 of the booty goes to orphans. 0.04 of the booty goes to the poor . 0.04 of the booty goes to travelers. This amounts to 20% and the rest of the 80% is handed over to the army. Next was the issue about the prisoners of war which were 73 or 74 in number. The Prophet ﷺ surveyed all the prisoners and said, "If Mut'im ibn Adi were alive right now and he spoke to me to free all of these (dirty people), I would have freed them all for him".

The series by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues with discussions on the Battle of Badr which took place on a Friday, 17th Ramadan 2H. Many stories are revealed in this lecture about the different Sahaba and Qurayshis and what transpired with each one of them. He begins with the story of Umaid ibn Al-Human who died in Badr and it goes without saying that the Shaheed of Badr were amongst the elite and praiseworthy. Next is the story of Ukasha and his display of endless tawakkul in Allah is exemplary. The story of Muadh bin `Amr ibn Al-Jamuh and his bravery when fighting Abu Jahl is extraordinary and should be cited with honour. Amongst the highlights of Badr is the killing of Abu Jahal - the pharaoh of the Muslim Ummah and Amr ibn Hisham and that of Umayyah ibn Khalaf who met an evil end. After the Battle of Badr ended, the Prophet ﷺ told the sahabah to find the body of Abu Jahal which set the sahaba into action and it was Abdullah ibn Mas'ud RA who found him. The final story is that of Abu Ubayda Amr ibn Al Jarah whose father was supporting the Quraysh and he sought to attack his son, Abu Ubayda which prompted him to kill his father in self defence. As was the norm even then, people lamented on the fact that he had committed a grave crime of killing his own father. Hence,Allah revealed the following verses in the Qur'an as a token of praise for Abu Ubayda RA: "You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allah . Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful." What do we learn from the Battle of Badr? Allah will give what is decreed IF we strive and work towards achieving it.

As the lecture on the Battle of Badr continues, Shaykh Yasir now acquaints us in immense detail with the happenings of this battle. After having gotten consent from all the groups , Prophet ﷺ divided his army into three groups and each of these groups were given flags in Badr - the primary white flag was given to to Mus'ab ibn Umair, on the right hand side, he placed Ali ibn Abi Talib under whom were the muhajiroun and on the left side was Sa'd ibn Mu'adh under whom were the Ansar. The most experienced member of the army of the Quraysh was Umayr ibn Wahb Al Jumahee. All of the above leaders were young dynamic leaders which shows that the Prophet ﷺ chose leaders who would enjoy immense respect in their group. Ali is the great grandson of Abdul Muttalib who was loved and adored by all and his lineage was of the highest calibre. Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was the future leader of the Ansar. The Prophet ﷺ arrived at Badr earlier than the Quraysh by a day on the 16th Ramadan in the second year of the Hijrah. The Prophet ﷺ immediately began setting up his camp and tents there. Taking the advice of his companions and changing decisions based on their thoughts and opinions was something that the Prophet ﷺ always did and sought to do.there are many incidents in the history of Islam that bear testament to this aspect of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. Listen intently to fully fathom the nature via numerous stories told by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. The Prophet ﷺ also introduced a new tactic of military battalions marching in rows to fight the opposition which was not known and followed by the Arabs previously. The Arabs had always attacked in circles, they would attack and them come back and so on. Allah taught our Prophet ﷺ this tactic.

In this continuation of the series on the Battle of Badr, shaykh yasir continues from where he left  and we know that Abu Sufyan detected the presence of the Prophet ﷺ and took a way closer to the Red Sea, also sending a crier to the people of Quraysh to gather them together. The Quraysh convened and agreed to send an army to protect the caravan. Abu Lahab decided not to go and instead found someone by the name - Al Asr bin Wa'il to do the needful. Why did Abu Lahab not go himself? What prevented him from doing so? When the Quraysh marched out of Mecca, they were around 1300 in number which was the largest group at the time. When the Muslims left Madinah they had no idea of facing an army. They were confident of a clear victory. However, a dream seen by the Prophet ﷺ where he was fighting an army put them in a state of unrest. The details of the Battle of Badr have to be heard with full devotion to fully comprehend the nature of the battle and what transpired every single minute. You will be left mesmerized by the way Shaykh Yasir dissects every event as it happens. The Prophet ﷺ gained the consent of the Ansar on their willingness to fight and this was when Sa'd ibn Mu'adh RA, their leader, gave a beautiful speech and said, "We believed in you, trusted in you and testified your truth. And we gave you a promise to 'listen and obey you.are we not muslims? Go forth and we are with you. I swear by the one who sent you, if you take us in the ocean we will go right behind you. We aren't scared of meeting the enemy in battle, and Allah will show you that which will comfort you". When Sa'd said this, the Prophet ﷺ was elated and his face lit up like the moon and this energised his spirits immensely. He said, "By Allah We have been promised victory".

This video begins the series of discussions by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi on the topic of the Battle of Badr. A particular incident being elucidated upon is the targeting of caravans and ample information is provided regarding the modus operandi that was decided by the Prophet ﷺ. There is an incident regarding Sa'd ibn Mu'adh who was the leader of the Ansar and Umayyah ibn Khalaf (the owner of Bilal) in the times of Jahiliya. Listen intently to decipher the happenings then. How did the event of Sa’d RA attacking the caravan of the Quraysh come about in action? Badr is the name of a man who dug up a well known as the well of Badr. the whole area around the well is called the plane of Badr which is in between Mecca and Madinah, Talha ibn Ubaydullah and Sa'ad ibn Zayd RA played significant roles in the Battle of Badr too. Badr was not meant to be a war but rather a confiscation where the Muslims would outnumber the 40 guards of the Quraysh caravans and the camels would be taken. The Battle of Badr had 315 participants with some saying 313 or 317 of which around 83 were Muhajiroon, 62 were the Aws and 170 were the Khazraj. Another topic that is touched base upon is that of the lack of participation of Hudhayfah ibn Yaman, and his father Yaman ibn Hakam. They wanted to participate in Badr keenly but a promise they made to the Quraysh prevented them from doing so. What was that promise? Delve deeper into this lecture to unearth the answers. The lecture ends with a mention of the dream of Atika bint Abdul Muttalib, the full sister of Abdullah ibn Abu Talib and the full aunt of the Prophet ﷺ.

Seerah 35 The Preparation For Badr

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges details about a number of beneficial policies that were new and impossible to implement in Mecca Economic policy - All business must be done in this book No taxes Spiritual development - concerning Ramadan, Zakat and of course, Salah. Political and military development - concerning Jihad. Explicit details have been shared about the stages of Jihad too. The Prophet ﷺ and the sahabah engaged in many expeditions which had some specific goals: Show the strength of the Muslims as an independent, political, economical and strong force to the Quraysh. To deprive the Quraysh of money which was their key strength. Increase the size of the Islamic State Next, we get acquainted with the two types of military expeditions - the Ghazwa and the Sareeah. Which were they and how many were they in number? The first expedition where some fighting occurred was on the sareeah of Ubaydah ibn al-Harith and Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas was the first person to throw an arrow in the way of Allah. The first significant expedition without any bloodshed was the Ghazwa tul Ushayra. The Prophet ﷺ took around 200 sahabah to attack the annual caravan that went up to Syria. And it had most of the wealth from Mecca. The leader of Mecca was Abu Sufyan and so this was sort of a precedent to the Battle of Badr. The other was the sareeah tul Nakhla in which some sahaba were sent to find out information outside of Mecca which is when they saw a caravan with booty and decided to capture it in the sacred month of Rajab, killing one person in the process. The Prophet ﷺ said "I didn't tell you to fight or kill anyone". And Allah revealed the verse in Surah Baqarah. What was this verse? Listen intently and be mesmerized in the judgement of Allah in this difficult time. These expeditions lead to the battle of Badr which is one of the biggest miracles in Islam and Allah called it the 'day of Furqan' -  A victory that was unprecedented.

The next major incident mentioned is the change of Qiblah and it occurred around 15/16 months after immigration. This caused a mini crisis. Why? Initially the Prophet ﷺ was immensely optimistic about the Jews who lived in Madinah and was expecting their complete support in the way of Islam . This was not a false expectation as the Jews were very similar to the Muslims in their approach and conduction of activities to the Muslims. But when the Prophet ﷺ realized the growing animosity of the Jews towards he Muslims, he realized that the Jews were never going to accept him as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So the Prophet ﷺ began advising the Muslims to refrain from imitating the Jews in any way possible. And then he took the monumental decision of changing the Qiblah direction. But this decision was not his to be taken and he had his wish expressed to Jibril AS. In compliance with his wish, Allah revealed verses in the Qur'an that allowed for this decision to be taken by the Prophet ﷺ. This resulted in widespread confusion between the people and unwanted talk started doing the rounds. And this also led to the new concept of abrogation which was previously unheard of. The Prophet ﷺ prayed Fajr facing Jerusalem and then he prayed Zuhr facing Mecca. This shows us that the law came down in the early morning. What is the story of the Masjid al Qiblatain? Shaykh Yasir reveals explicit details about the same and how this name into existence. The Prophet ﷺ could not handle the increasing number of coverts and Muhajirun. So, a public shelter called the Suffah was constructed and the people who stayed there were known as the Ahlus-Suffah - the People of the Shelter. Much importance is given to them and great emphasis has been laid upon them. This is because they are the elite of the sahabah marked by exemplary Imaan. They had basically renounced everything to live in a public shelter in the Masjid of the Prophet ﷺ. Abu Hurairah RA was the most famous person of the Ahlus Suffah and a brief discussion is made about him and how he was among the prominent members of the Ahlus Suffah.

This lecture by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi commences with a detailed discussion about the establishment of the Islamic calendar. Which year would be the first year, which month would take precedence over other months in being the first month and many more such questions came to mind and were addressed . How did the early immigrants perceive madina to be? Did it tally with their imagination of it? They did not like it because they missed their previous home a tad too much. What does the Prophet ﷺ do about this? He made a special dua for the muhajiroun that "O Allah, make Madinah beloved to us like we used to love Mecca, or even more. O Allah, bless us in our food measurements; oh Allah remove the bad weather and plagues (Madinah had more plagues than Mecca) and throw it out". Needless to say, this dua was answered and to this date, we feel the peace and tranquility in this region like nowhere else. We also are acquainted with the generosity and good nature of the Ansar , especially towards the Muhajirun. So much so that the Prophet ﷺ said, "If I could I would give up my lineage and be with you. Were it not for the Hijrah I would have been one of you. If all of mankind went in one direction and the Ansar went in another direction I would go with the Ansar". The Prophet ﷺ was immensely pleased with them and showed his appreciation always. The concept of Muakar is also explicitly elucidated and we get to know the nuances behind this aspect.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi reveals how the first few days were for the Prophet ﷺ after his arrival in Madinah. We also get information regarding the first two Masjids he built and the benefits we can derive  from them. Also, the details regarding the first ever Salatul Jumu'ah that happened in a few days are explicitly explained. Regarding the preference of Masjids, a sahabi came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him "which is the masjid referred to by Allah in which He says, "Verily the masjid that was built upon taqwa from the first day, this has more right you pray in it. In this masjid there are men who love to purify themselves.'?" The Prophet ﷺ said "It is mine". So which one? Its both. “The verse applies to both masjids that were built upon taqwa from the first day. The first Juma'a the Prophet ﷺ prays is in the middle of Mecca and Madinah and the khutbahs were 3-5 minutes long. It laid emphasis on the following: generosity;the certainty of death and that Allah would ask every one of them about what he had been given and how he spent it. In a span of 5 days ,the Prophet ﷺ built two masjids, and a third indirect masjid was built. The Prophet ﷺ masjid was the central and the largest. The masjid was built first even before the house. It shows us these houses of Allah were the ones that have been praised highly in the Quran. Allah has encouraged and allowed people to worship and glorify Allah in these Houses of Allah - the Masjids. An issue that needed to be addressed by the Prophet ﷺ was -"how should we call the people to prayer?" Shaykh Yasir Qadhi acquaints us with the origin of the Azaan and how it came into being. Who was involved in this monumental decision and what gave them that stature? Listen intently and get all your queries answered beautifully.

This lecture by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi sheds light on the aspect of immigration to Madina and the technicalities of immigration. Was it an optional or a compulsory act? The story of a sahabi who converted after the Prophet ﷺ migrated to Madinah is that of Jundah ibn Dhamura. This story makes for an interesting listen because of the sheer sincerity in following the rules of the Hijrah as was suggested at the time in spite of being challenged strength wise and much more. When did the Prophet ﷺ migrate to Madinah? The opinion that is clearly agreed upon was that it happened in the month of Rabi Ul Awwal. It was the first Islamic year and the month of the Hijrah was the first month that corresponded to September 622 CE. The Prophet ﷺ arrived in Kuba and waited for Ali ibn Abi Talib, Aisha RA and Asma RA and when they arrived he entered Madinah with them on a Friday. The Ansar took the Prophet ﷺ into Madinah and every sahaba wanted him to live with them. It was then decided to let the Prophet ﷺ camel walk freely and the Prophet ﷺ would reside wherever the camel chose to sit.the camel chose to sit near the house of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari who was from the tribe of Banu Najar. The Prophet ﷺ lived at the house of Abu Ayyub al Ansari for 6 months until his own house and Masjid was built. The Masjid that was built had three main doors -  Bab Rahmah (Door of Mercy), Bab Jibril (Door of Gabriel), Bab al-Nisa' (Door of the Women).

This video is mainly delving on the topic of the demographics of Madina and how did this city get populated and who were the tribes that occupied this blessed city. The two major tribes to occupy Madina were - Arabs and Jews. there were three Jewish tribes - Banu Qaynuqa, Banu Qurayza and Banu Nadir. The lineage of the Arab tribes is clearly mapped ot and hence, there seems to be no trouble deciphering information about them. Where did the Jews come from? There are many theories for this and more light is shed on this topic by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. We also get ample information on the number of people in Yathrib at the time and the figure roughly counts upto 20,000. There are three tribes in Madina - the Ansar, the Muhajirun and the Jews. The video culminates with details of the anticipation of the Ansar for the arrival of the beloved Prophet ﷺ into the city of Madina and how they were yearning to catch a glimpse of the Messenger of Allah SAW. Al Bara ibn Azim narrates ,"I saw the Ansar all dressed up and coming out. Over 500 men came outside; all of them armed and dressed to accompany the Prophet ﷺ. The women climbed up on the houses. For the first time we get a glimmer of hope that change is in the air. And that we can sense the blessings of Allah will flourish a new era.”
