"I listened to your podcast this morning (as I always do) and I can't find it... the love that is supposed to be there and wash over me.  All I feel is sadness, to the point where my heart aches all day and I want to curl up on my bed and just disappear.  I could just give up but there is a strand of something that keeps me here.  I keep writing, I keep listening.  How do you do it? Be sad and still feel love?" 

My written response- 

"I asked a similar question to Krishna Das while on retreat.  I was like, Love is here, BUT, so is my shit lol.  
He said, "it's not your shit." 

It's not your sadness. 
It's just sadness, 
rolling through awareness.
Rolling through Love.
Hold fast to Love.
This is the work. 
It's healing everything.

Today's Practice: 
Every time you notice stressful thoughts about next week, or returning back to the office, use it as an alarm, a trigger to remember Love.  See these thoughts as Grace, natural built-in alerts to remind you to turn back toward Truth... back toward the Silence the thoughts came out of and will promptly return to.  You can either--

1. Go straight to the Silent-Love by feeling It in your feet, in your heart, or throughout and AS your Being.
or 
2. Go to a mantra like, Borysenko's, "I realize that stress is only fear. I release it and choose Peace".  You'll be so full of those words that there won't be any room for stress-inducing thoughts.  You'll be so full of Love, that there won't be any room for fear. 

Do what works. Be what works.  This Love works. It heals. It relieves you of the fear we call stress. It relieves you of the stress you call 'you'.

Today, we begin.  This very moment, we begin... remembering that we ARE what's appearing as this moment, we are the substratum of the Now, we are the  Christ.  We celebrate the birth of Jesus today, the birth of the awareness of the Christ among us, and now, the birth of our awareness of the Christ within us.  

Repeat this mantra by Herb Fitch, "I am not man or woman, I live the day as I, Spirit", and notice how you're already, effortlessly detached from the body.   There's some space (t)here, naturally.  You, as Awareness, don't have to try to detangle your Self from the body, you already are the witness.  You already are Love.  Be That, by feeling It and remembering to feel It all day.  "Blessed is he who came into being before he came into being." (Gospel of Thomas)

You’re feeling absolutely fantastic this morning! But not for the reason you think. You don’t feel good because it’s Christmas Eve. You don’t feel good because you know what’s under the tree, or even because you’re off work or have no professional Zoom meetings tomorrow (likely for a whole week!), or that your favorite food is being prepared, or that your playlist is FIRE and the Temptations are going in on ‘Silent Night’.

All of these things may very well seem to be happening, but they’re not causing that quiet-Joy you’re aware of. You’re just presently in alignment... allowing yourself to feel good, to experience God. You’re currently BEing your true Self! This is your natural state— one of uncaused joy, ease, love, relaxation and peace. What people call ‘The Christmas Spirit’ is your original nature, and you can feel this way even on your first day back to work, if you give yourself permission.

God didn’t come closer this morning, and It won’t get further away next week. We just changed the way we are living in this moment. And now we must keep living this way... remembering to recognize that the Light is ALWAYS on inside. That we are this Light.

If you can stop waiting for special occasions to remember this background Joy, to feel Go(o)d, to be yourSelf, your life will change drastically from the inside out and very rapidly. I promise you. #MerryChristmas

Today's Practice:
Catch yourself believing in secondary powers.  Every time a thought is noticed about the inherent power of dollars or the media, immediately turn to the felt-presence of Love.  That's it.  You don't have to replace the thought or change the belief.  Just feel Love, and watch as every unnecessary belief is dissolved on sight.  This Love doesn't bring you into alignment, it IS alignment.  The moment you feel It, you're being your Self.  The moment you feel It, you're back on the Throne... it's Go(o)d here :)

"To be present for God’s touches, Francis found that having the right word turning over and over again on the tongue could make all the difference. The right word relaxed first the tongue, then it served to calm even the most troubled heart. Of course this wouldn’t happen automatically but with practice. Francis learned to find nourishment, safety, warmth, all from a few carefully chosen words that echoed in his head and heart. These words were both blanket and food for the soul. When the soul felt warm and fed, the body too would clearly feel better. In the most challenging times it was his mantra that poured consolation and guidance around his lonely heart. Today's Practice:
Chant a name of God and know that God is present the moment you hear the Name.  God was always present, you just weren't.  But now you are.  

First you become aware of God as the Name, then as the vibration, and then, as the feeling of Love.  Then, abruptly stop the recitation and just BE LOVE.  Rest AS Love in the silence that was before, during, and after the repetition of the Name.  Identify with this Love.  And know that this Love is all there is.

It's my ex-hubby's year to Love on the kids for the holidays, so after a tearful goodbye yesterday, I wanted to share how I still managed to lean into Love (this will be my first Christmas morning without them), and will continue to as I navigate this life thing.

Today's Practice:
Staying in touch with Love during the ups and downs of life is the purpose of this life.  Surrendering to (relaxing into) feeling this Love in every moment, even the sad ones (when the body is tense, stomach clenched, and breath shallow), while challenging, changes not only the quality of that moment but the future-nows as well. 

Permission slips I used yesterday included remembering that the Christ is born within us everyday, not just once a year. Every day is Christmas.  Everyday is a celebration once you remember this Love.  And then taking it a step further by seeing through days altogether.  Only Love is here and sometimes we call it Monday or Saturday, and every now and then, Christmas.  And that no matter where I appear to be, or where my kiddos appear to be, we are together in Love, always. That's where my Grandma is, too... and your departed loved ones, and God... One in this Place.  This Love.  

Finally, and obviously, taking a trip to Assisi, Italy is a permission slip to feel Love, too.  But I must highlight that this opportunity to go on silent retreat only unfolded in the last two weeks, the way the rest of the Go(o)d events in this life seem to happen-- through relaxation, not tension, through abiding in the calm before, during and after the storms of life.  I stay convinced that Life is dope, and it always proves  itself to be just that.  I'll be on silent retreat in St. Francis' (and St. Clare’s) home town, but not absent from here! New episodes will continue to go live erry'day, while I pray :)

Moments of peace are the best time to practice Love.  Set the intention today to hold your heart in peace on this beautiful Sunday, so that when moments of chaos come, you don't have to effort.  You're already practicing Love. You're already Being Love. Nothing can shake you.  No thing can disturb you.  There is no trouble in the Kingdom.  And you are That.

Keep returning to today's mantra, "only Go(o)d lies before me'.  Keep feeling the Love that it's pointing to. Don't live another second without feeling the Love it's pointing to.  Let life unfold in this feeling of Love, and it will unfold AS this feeling of Love. 

When you're feeling Love presently, It takes shape as your future-now.  You remember that just as there is no 'Monday' or 'Friday', there is no 'future'... just Now, God, this Presence we call Love.

MISSION

So many of my children are seeking-are are searching, high and low, are hungry for that which you know is here, close within you. You must show them the way. Your mission, should you choose to feel It, is to become an open door, a transparency for Love to flow into the world freely.  We do this by smiling. relaxing , and swaying our way into the knowledge that truly,  only Love is here and that no doors, or 'bodies' are needed to access It.   Once we are being this Love, our way forward is clear, smooth, Joyous!  Our way is simple. Our way is Go(o)d.

Emphasize the exhaling breath. And you can use it for many changes in the mind. If you are suffering from constipation, forget intaking. Just exhale and do not inhale. Let the body do the work of inhaling; you just do the work of exhaling. You force the breath out and do not inhale. The body will inhale by itself; you need not worry about it, you are not going to die. The body will take breath in, you just throw it out and let the body take it in. Your constipation will go.
If you are suffering from heart disease, just exhale, do not inhale. Then you will not suffer from heart disease. If while just going upwards on a staircase, or anywhere, you feel tired – very much tired, suffocated, breathless – simply do this: just exhale, do not inhale. Then you can climb up any amount of steps and you will not be tired. What happens? When you go with an emphasis on exhaling, you are ready to let go, you are ready to die. You are not afraid of death; that makes you open. Otherwise you are closed – fear closes you.

"Silently intone a word ending in “ah.” Then in the “hh,” effortlessly, the spontaneity.  Emphasis should be given to the ending “ah.” Why? Because the moment this sound “ah” is intoned, your breath goes out. You may not have observed it, but now you can observe: whenever your breath goes out you are more silent, and whenever your breath comes in you are more tense."

Today's Practice:
"God doesn't go away because we are not praying."  This means that just because we forget to feel Love, that doesn't mean It isn't (t)here.  When anger comes in the front door and is given our full attention, Love doesn't go out the back door.  It's still (t)here.   Do as Osho recommends and silently intone the 'ah' sound.  Inwardly say a word that ends with 'ah', like:

Issa (Jesus in Arabic), Yeshua (Jesus in Hebrew), Buddha, Rama, Krishna, Jah, Allah, or Jehovah

Coincidence, or nah?  Nah.  Nahhhhh.  :)  Pick a name of God and repeat it inside, focusing on the relaxation inducing, 'ahhhhh' at the end.  Recognize that God is easy to feel in the 'ah', but that It was there during the inhale, too... and between breaths, and before you took your first one.  God is, and you are That.  Stay aware of this constantly, today.  Uninterrupted awareness of the presence of God, today.  That's our Work.  And our Joy.

Vishnu gave Narada the task of carrying a bowl of oil, full to the brim, up to the top of a mountain, without spilling a drop. The task completed, Vishnu asked how many times Narada remembered Vishnu. Narada asked how that would be possible, since he had to concentrate on carrying the bowl and climbing the mountain. Today's Practice:
Every time you become aware of a worry thought about tomorrow or next week, pause and pray.  

Pause by listening for Silence instead of to the worry thought.  Remember that you're not thinking that worry thought.  That thought isn't yours.  You're simply listening to it... and you can choose to believe it or not.  You can choose to claim it or not.  You can choose to listen to Silence instead! 

And you pray by recognizing and feeling Go(o)d in the Silence.  You pray by repeating (hearing or becoming aware of) the above mantra, the truth that it isn't you that must face these problems, but God in you.  You pray by remembering that God in you has no problems, knows no problems, sees no problems. You pray by reaching and feeling for even 2% of the Love that is fully present in and AS that moment and by watching your experience of the moment and the seeming moment itself, shift. 

The awareness to pause and pray is the miracle, and it manifests as such.

Feel Your Body As Empty - A Meditation
"Suppose your passive form to be an empty room with walls of skin – empty. Suppose your passive form to be an empty room with walls of skin…but inside, everything empty. This is one of the most beautiful techniques. Just sit in a meditative posture, relaxed, alone, your backbone straight and the whole body relaxed – as if the whole body is hanging on the backbone. Then close your eyes. For a few moments go on feeling relaxed, more relaxed, becoming calmer and calmer and calmer. Do this for a few moments, just to be in tune. And then suddenly start feeling your body is just walls of skin and there is nothing inside, there is no one inside, the house is vacant. Sometimes you will feel thoughts passing, clouds of thoughts moving, but don’t think that they belong to you. You are not. Just think that they are roaming in a vacant sky – they don’t belong to anyone, they don’t have any roots. Really this is the case: thoughts are just like clouds moving in the sky. They don’t have any roots and they don’t belong to the sky, they simply roam in the sky. They come and they go and the sky remains untouched, uninfluenced. Feel that your body is just walls of skin and there is no one inside. Thoughts will still continue – because of old habit, old momentum, old cooperation, thoughts will go on coming. But just think that they are rootless clouds moving in space – they don’t belong to you, they don’t belong to anybody else. There is no one to whom they can belong – you are empty. It will be difficult, but because of the old habits, nothing else. Your mind would like to catch some thought, be identified with it, move with it, enjoy it, indulge in it. Resist! Just say there is no one to indulge, there is no one to fight, there is no one to do anything with this thought. Within a few days, a few weeks, thoughts will slow down, they will become less and less. The clouds will start disappearing, or, even if they come, there will be great gaps of cloudless sky when there will be no thought. One thought will pass. Then another will not come for a period. Then another will come and then there will again be an interval. In those intervals you will know for the first time what emptiness is. And the very glimpse of it will fill you with such deep bliss you cannot imagine. Really it is difficult to say anything about it, because whatsoever is said in language will refer to you, and you will not be there. If I say that you will be filled with happiness it will be nonsense. You will not be there, so how can I say you will be filled with happiness? Happiness will be there. Just within the four walls of your skin, happiness will be there, vibrating – but you will not be there."

"Today we practice with the special case of giving and receiving. We will use this simple lesson in the obvious because it has results we cannot miss. To give is to receive. Today we will attempt to offer peace to everyone, and see how quickly peace returns to us. Light is tranquility, and in that peace is vision given us, and we can see.

So we begin the practice periods with the instruction for today, and say:

To give and to receive are one in truth.
I will receive what I am giving now.

Then close your eyes, and for five minutes think of what you would hold out to everyone, to have it yours. You might, for instance, say:

Here’s a short meditation from Joel Goldsmith's book , 'The Altitude of Prayer'. 

"Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?”  Thought is not power: thought will not make a white hair black; thought will not turn disease into health; thought will not turn health into disease. But the Spirit of God in us reveals divine harmony where sin, disease, death, lack, and limitation appear to the human senses. 

When you can close your eyes and know no fear, and not seek for God to do something, see what happens as you settle down into an inner peace:

'Thank You, Father; I can abide in peace, for there is no other power. There are no powers to fear; there are no powers for You to do something about. You alone are power; You alone are presence. Your kingdom is established in me; Your grace is my sufficiency in all things. No longer do I seek You as a power; no longer do I accept the power of matter or of mind. In every moment, remember, even if for just a fleeting second, to go directly to the feeling of Love. Change the quality of the moment, your conscious experience of that moment, by feeling Love.  It doesn't' matter what's happening, what you're looking at, who you're with, this Love is fully present and when you touch It, It touches you and changes everything.  Let It work on you.  Let It work through and AS you.  Let It be your world and It'll give you a new one. 

Notice that when you are fully aware of Love, It's often appearing as working out, a walk in nature, quality time with your kiddos, singing along to Go(o)d music, reading a Go(o)d book... and when you become aware of Love in a 'not so good' moment, It then begins appearing as you remembering God, reaching for that feeling, remembering your mantra, hearing your mantra, and the quality of that moment changes.  Destiny changes.  Keep feeling for Love.  Keep being Love.

Watch and listen to your mind.  Notice when it's doing what it does.  Notice its judgements, criticisms, projections, conclusions.  Don't react. Don't respond. Don't try to stop them.  Just notice.  And then notice what else is present.  Listen to the Silence that the thoughts are coming and going in.  Feel that Silence... Joy, Love... the Bliss of the Self.  When you feel this Bliss, It puts the thoughts on transparency mode (like your noise canceling headphones).  Now you're no longer hypnotized by thinking... It's not the only thing you can hear.  Now you can also hear the Silence!  You can feel the Thread.  And It feels good. Don't drop It.

This is the song stuck in my head, on loop in my heart-- the Mahamantra ( at the  13:45 min mark is the rhythm I sing and chant in constantly).  There's places in India where this mantra has gone on non-stop for centuries.  People show up and sing in shifts!

Wherever you're singing, whatever you're singing, know that I Am (t)here, singing, too.  Worshipping, too.  Praising, too.  Loving, too.  Knowing that the lover, the loving, and the one loved are One.  We are that One Love.
