Dr. Edwards is the Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF, and she currently serves as a team physician for the City College of San Francisco, the University of San Francisco and the Oakland Ballet. Dr. Horner is the leader of the Tri-Valley Orthopedic Specialists’ hand surgery team in Pleasanton, CA and former wide receiver for the Northwestern University Wildcats football team.

Andy, Dr. Horner and Dr. Edwards discuss the effects of COVID-19 on sports across the country, how a coronavirus-impacted preseason could mirror the 2011 NFL lockout-affected season which saw more injuries than usual, a look at the testing protocols professional and collegiate sports will be undertaking, whether long-terms effects are a concern for athletes and why you should really, really wear a mask.

While training camps are expected to open on time, Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports that the NFL is discussing the viability of a full preseason slate, and we know the annual HOF game has been canceled. What will be the impact of a shortened ramp-up period on players? (0:33)

Matt Harmon calls Ben Roethlisberger "one of the keys to fantasy football in 2020" since his health directly impacts the value of Juju Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson and James Conner. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, said, "He's comfortable and pleased where he is. Some people who had the opportunity to work with him are impressed and pleased where he is. The medical experts are comfortable where he is and his readiness for 2020." Liz Loza's chats with an orthopedist says the prolonged break for Ben is a little bit good news and a little bit bad news for his expected value and the Steelers offense. (13:10)

And elsewhere in the AFC North, one of the Steelers’ biggest rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, loom as division favorites, but do we need to worry about Lamar Jackson regressing? If potential regression is to be staved off, Lamar will need weapons to throw to. Can anyone other than Hollywood Brown and Mark Andrews step up in Baltimore? Or are there just not enough touches left once Brown, Andrews, and the rushing game with Lamar get theirs? At least we'll always have some early Miles Boykin coach-hype. (22:45)

Welcome to the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Podcast! Liz Loza and Matt Harmon return after a brief hiatus with a new episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast to talk Coronavirus, Deebo Samuel's foot injury, and the idea of 'sticking to sports.'

You might've noticed that for the past two weeks or so that we haven't had a show.

In the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder, and the ensuing protests which we support here, we felt wasn’t right to be joking and just focusing on fantasy football while we're all thinking about and facing the realities of systemic racism in the country.

We want this show to be a place where we’re able to talk to each other honestly about what we're thinking, when it comes to fantasy football, but also beyond sports. So if you’re looking for a place where we just stick to sports, this podcast isn’t it.

Dr. Anthony Fauci says that there shouldn't be a season without a bubble: "Unless players are essentially in a bubble — insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day — it would be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall." Liz shares some nuggets from her conversations with an orthopedist and epidemiologist about what to expect this season.

And, one nugget of fantasy news, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel broke his foot recently and is expected to miss the start of the 2020 NFL Season. Will someone else in the receiving corps fill his shoes?

Running backs are almost always the talk of the town when it comes to early fantasy football projections and predictions, but there’s a pair of NFC West backfields that haven’t really been getting much attention, until now.

While the backfield is San Francisco doesn’t have a true every down, big-name workhorse, it’s one that should have tons of potential value. Supposed RB1, Raheem Mostert, recently told the media that he’s bulking up so that he can handle 200+ carries this season. Are we buying the breakout for Mostert? (13:16)

Elsewhere in the NFC West, Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay said, "We feel we've got three really good backs." "What we wanted to do was get a group that we felt really good about ... This enables us to say, 'We're not necessarily committed to any approach, it's a feel for the flow of the game.” That's not exactly a ringing endorsement to take Cam Akers early in fantasy drafts. With all the uncertainty surrounding the current state of affairs, continuity becomes paramount, and that is especially true for NFL rookies about to begin their first season or for free agents who are about to learn an entirely new system on an entirely new team.

We don’t know what this offseason will bring, but one thing is for sure: Players who have continuity on their side are in a better position to succeed — and fantasy managers should take note!

In NFL news, The Athletic's Connor Hughes suggests the Jets "can’t wait to unleash Chris Herndon" this upcoming season. Liz and Andy discuss the outlook of the Jets’ offensive pieces, including the returning Herndon, Sam Darnold, Le’Veon Bell, and newcomer Denzel Mims. (03:17)

Speaking of continuity, a couple of veteran NFL quarterbacks have been trying to get things going with their top weapons. A less-hairy Ben Roethlisberger has been working out with JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Conner, and Ryan Switzer, while new-Buccaneer Tom Brady underwent a two-hour throwing session with Mike Evans, O.J. Howard, and five other teammates. (12:44)

We’ve all had predictions that turn out to be wrong. We’ve all had bad takes that come back to haunt us. It’s a part of life and the human need to try and make an opinion as close to a fact as possible. The key is to learn something from that burnt take.

But first, we look at some of the news around the NFL. Falcons OC Dirk Koetter said about RB Todd Gurley that "The main question, that no one seems to know, is what is his health status?” If the OC doesn’t know ... who does? (01:41)

Colts WR T.Y. Hilton recently said, "I want to be a Colt” in reference to his contract status ... which is not a sentence you need to say if a team already wants you back. Are we buying or selling Hilton in a Rivers-led offense? (10:10)

Our Tennessee Titans 2020 preview went live, and our experts give their thoughts on Derrick Henry's chances of becoming the overall #1 running back for the year. (Hint: they're not high, but that doesn't mean you should avoid him this year.) (17:15)

Now that Gore is a member of Gang Green, should we as fantasy players be worried about Le’Veon Bell? (02:30)

Speaking of running backs, Washington head coach Ron Rivera made quite the statement recently, saying rookie Antonio Gibson “has a skill set like Christian McCaffrey.” Soon, we’ll find out that Antonio Gibson is already in the best shape of his life, has lost 20 pounds, and has put on 30 pounds of muscle. Elsewhere in the NFL, the fifth-year option wheel began to turn, as both the Bears and Titans declined to pick up the options of Mitchell Trubisky and Corey Davis, respectively. (10:37)

Oh, and Andy Dalton signed with the Dallas Cowboys like we all suspected he would. (23:15)

Welcome back to the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast! In this episode, Yahoo's Liz Loza and Matt Harmon break down some of their favorite rookies from the back-end of the NFL Draft and take a look at some veterans who might be fighting for a job when (if?) training camp opens.

Every year, a few rookies from the later rounds break out for unexpected fantasy value. Who will it be this year? Liz plans on taking a shot on the Tennessee Titans’ Darrynton Evans who'll likely slide into third-down duties with Derrick Henry's passing game woes, and Matt goes with Bryan Edwards, who'll likely start alongside fellow rookie Henry Ruggs in Las Vegas (00:51).

Matt and Liz also look at two more rookies that they think could have big years, Washington's Antonio Gandy-Golden and Ke'Shawn Vaughn, who'll only need to leap frog Ronald Jones II to line up in the backfield with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. (06:13)

Elsewhere in the NFL, O.J Howard had his fifth-year option picked up in Tampa Bay (13:20), Andy Dalton was released by the Bengals (20:31), the Los Angeles Chargers held on to Justin Herbert's future security blanket Mike Williams (23:01). And while all this is going on, Cam Newton is still searching for a new team (27:48). Perhaps the New England Patriots will make a play? It's been way too long since they've had a former MVP under center.

And we wrap up the show by looking at some of the veterans who might be less than excited about the results of the Draft, like Jamison Crowder from the New York Jets and Julian Edelman, who as of right now, does not have a former MVP throwing him the ball. (31:18)

Well, the 2020 NFL Draft is in the books. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon are here to help you break down all the fantasy nuggets and takeaways from the selection process on the latest fantasy football podcast.

Well, Round 1 of the first virtual NFL Draft is in the books. There were a few trades, but nothing completely eye-opening. Considering this draft set something of a precedent for the NFL, it actually went pretty smoothly ... for everyone but Aaron Rodgers. With the NFL Draft getting closer by the day, Liz Loza and Matt Harmon decided to reveal an early look at their 2020 fantasy football draft rankings on the latest podcast.

Rounding out the top three consensus picks are: Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, and Ezekiel Elliott. Our experts discuss more from their rankings, as well as where they disagreed farther down the ranks (Hint: Liz was the lowest on Lamar Jackson amongst the five experts, while Matt was the highest on George Kittle). Technically, the free agency period for the 2020 NFL season actually starts on March 18th, but you would think we were midway through the period the way the deals have been flying!

This second week of March is not the busiest time in the NFL calendar. The NFL Scouting Combine has begun, and so too the rumor mill begins to spin. Everything from Cam Newton to Joe Burrow’s hands have already been discussed.

ESPN's Jeff Darlington is reporting sources close to Tom Brady is evaluating free agency with the intention of departing. Is someone punking the American public or should you order your TB12 Las Vegas Raiders jersey right now? (3:45)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers raised eyebrows when head coach Bruce Arians and General Manager Jason Licht spoke on the future of the quarterback position. Arians said he’d like to see "Tom Brady. Philip (Rivers) is another guy. We'll see." Jameis Winston’s days as Tampa’s starting QB might be numbered. (10:20)

The Buccaneers apparently aren’t alone in this either — seems like the Raiders might be open to a change as well if we’re to interpret GM Mike Mayock’s words in that way: “I’m very happy with Derek Carr. What I’ve told everybody I’ve been in touch with since I took this job is we’re gonna evaluate every position every year. If we can get better, we will.” (14:45)

Further north in the NFC South, the Panthers brain trust has opened up a little more on on the future of Cam Newton with the team. Could he be on the trading block? (18:05)

Ron Rivera and the Redskins' brass reportedly met with Tua Tagovailoa and Joe Burrow at the combine. Could the Skins really be exploring moving on from Dwayne Haskins, Jr.? (23:30)

After some rumors that Joe Burrow could pull an Eli Manning and turn his back on Bengals at the podium (and some hilarious talk of the size of his hands), he set the record straight, saying he’d absolutely report to Cincinnati. (27:10)

Since last week’s episode, some veteran faces who have been fantasy stars in the past have announced their return to the NFL in 2020.

Raheem Mostert has established himself as the leader of the 9ers backfield in recent weeks, but considering how things were playing out early in the season (with Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida shining in individual moments), is Mostert worthy of high draft capital next season? On the other side of the spectrum, will Damien Williams finally be a trustworthy season-long asset, or will we be teased with the upside of Darwin Thompson yet again? (10:20)

At wide receiver, both teams have talented youngsters who will be entering Year 2: Deebo Samuel for the 49ers and Mecole Hardman for the Chiefs. The 2019 rookie wide receiver class was truly incredible — and an even better one might be coming in 2020. (15:25)

Kicking off the weekend, Kyle Shanahan, Robert Saleh and the San Francisco 49ers put on a show on both sides of the ball, completely dominating the Minnesota Vikings. Particularly impressive was the re-emergence of Tevin Coleman in the SF backfield. As always, the 49ers RB situation is hard to parse from a fantasy angle, but it demands your attention. (0:35)

In an immense upset, Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and the Tennessee Titans continued their magic to knock off the Baltimore Ravens IN Baltimore one week after taking out Tom Brady and the Patriots IN New England. Derrick Henry, in particular, has been unreal in these playoffs, running for over 180 yards in consecutive weeks. Liz and Matt discuss whether the behemoth runner will be worth a top-five fantasy draft pick next season. (8:40).

The Texans-Chiefs game was absolutely nuts. The Texans were up 24-0 at one point in the game, yet lost 51-31 to quarterback-god, Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs. Sorry, Bill O'Brien and the Texans, but our hosts are at a loss on how to stop this team. (20:25)

Wrapping up Sunday's games, the Packers advanced to the NFC Championship on the backs of a great Aaron Rodgers performance and a greater Davante Adams performance. Pretty impressive considering the rest of the Green Bay WRs are Allen Lazard and a bucket of spare car parts. (25:50)

Elsewhere in the NFL, Kevin Stefanski was hired by the Cleveland Browns to be their new head coach, right after the 49ers shut down the Vikings offense (33:50). On the other side of the spectrum, the Broncos fired Rich Scangarello and replaced him with Pat Shurmur as offensive coordinator (39:10) and the Jaguars parted ways with John DeFilippo (43:35). Liz and Matt discuss these moves and what they mean for fantasy.

Finally, Liz and Matt pick this weekend's two conference championship games against the spread in Titans/Chiefs and Packers/49ers. (50:15)

The Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs was a doozy: Kirk Cousins and the Vikings went to New Orleans and took out the Saints. Just in time for the holidays, the football gods gifted us a strange Week 16 to wrap up the 2019 fantasy football season. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the wild Week 16 and the gifts they think each team received as a result of the weekend's games.

For example, the Eagles gifted Cowboys fans what appears to be the end of the Jason Garrett era in Dallas. (01:22)

Alvin Kamara found the end zone twice this week – his first scores since Week 3 – which might've been a gift that was too little, too late for his fantasy owners. Despite Kamara's season-long performance that didn't meet expectations, is he still a top 5 pick in 2020? (05:41)

Brett Hundley, of all people, staved off a late comeback attempt by the Seattle Seahawks after Kyler Murray left the Cardinals game with a hamstring injury. Perhaps more so than #1 pick Murray, the real gift in Arizona might be Kliff Kingsbury, who is proving himself to be a more than competent NFL head coach. (10:42)

Every Denver Bronco fan has been wishing for a QB ever since Peyton Manning hung up the cleats in 2016. Is Drew Lock the gift they've been waiting for? (13:48)

In a startlingly high-scoring game, the Giants and Washington went into overtime tied 35-35! Dwayne Haskins went down with an injury, but it didn’t appear to be too serious. Daniel Jones, on the other hand, went absolutely nuts, throwing for 352 yards and FIVE touchdowns. What can we expect from these two young quarterbacks in their sophomore year? (21:02)

Speaking of strangely high-scoring, how about those Bengals and Dolphins? Two months ago, this game looking like a snoozefest, and despite their bad records, these teams have set themselves up for interesting futures. (25:10)

It was a wild Week 15, with plenty of touchdowns to go around, making for some undoubtedly high-scoring fantasy semifinal matchups.

Also, pure mayhem went down in the Bay area after the Oakland Raiders lost their final home game (14:27), and the San Francisco 49ers got shocked at home by the sorry Atlanta Falcons. (21:34)

Sadly, not only did Dalvin Cook go down in Week 15 with a shoulder injury, but he was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game, which hints at the potential severity of the ailment. Does Mike Boone enter league-winner status? (19:20)

Elsewhere in the NFL, the Kenny Stills, of all people, put the Houston Texans in the driver's seat for the AFC South with 2 TDs against the Tennessee Titans. (24:00)

Somehow, the Bears wide receivers — specifically Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller — are making things work even though Mitchell Trubisky is ... not amazing. (26:53).

At long last, Tyler Lockett returned to fantasy glory — but the Seahawks cannot play a normal game to save their lives (which might be good or bad, depending on what side of the fantasy fence you’re on). (29:34)

Saquon Barkley delivered two touchdowns (although, since they were his first since Week 7, it might have been too little, too late for fantasy managers). Oh, and Eli Manning is back to .500! (33:08)

Finally, Liz & Matt wrap up the show lamenting the complete no-show from the Los Angeles Rams and offensive explosion from the Dallas Cowboys. (35:52)

Now, their wide receiver corps is reduced to JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Greg Ward Jr., someone named Robert Davis and ... who knows. Speaking of contenders, they are few and far between in the NFL while there are a plethora of eliminated (or close to eliminated) teams. Yet, some of those teams are still putting up a fight. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the captivating performances from Rashaad Penny, Latavius Murray, Qadree Ollison, Benny Snell and more in the latest fantasy football podcast. (01:25)

Liz and Matt hit mostly every game from Week 12’s Sunday slate, including fantasy owners finally getting a solid look at first round Patriots WR N’Keal Harry. Should fantasy owners invest in the rookie or are there better options in the depleted New England receiver corps? (13:25)

Elsewhere in the NFL, we witnessed another disappointing outing by Carson Wentz. So, for the umpteenth time, what’s wrong with Wentz? (21:28)

The Browns went off in the Week 12, as everybody with fantasy value — Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt — ate, while on the other side, DeVante Parker turned 11 targets into six catches for 91 yards (for what it’s worth). (31:45)

Oakland got caught in a classic west-to-east trap game in East Rutherford. Matt & Liz take a look at Sam Darnold’s performance and the Jets’ light schedule to round out the season (36:30)

Don’t get your ponytail in a bunch, but Derrick Henry had himself a day against the Jaguars and Leonard Fournette got into the end-zone twice as well. Could Ryan Tannehill be the answer in Tennessee and man, it definitely seems like Foles is not in Jacksonville. (41:58)

John Brown is becoming (or rather, has become) one of the safest wide receivers to roster in fantasy (48:12), Mason Rudolph got benched one week after you-know-what, only to watch the Duck, Devlin Hodges, come in and help the Steelers get the W (51:30).
