I recently read a book called The Reality Revolution: The Mind-Blowing Movement to Hack Your Reality.

It was really good.

Specifically, it did a great job "mashing up" in one title a ton of the energy flow and body enhancement routines, subconscious reprogramming, meditation and visualization tactics and much more in a very practical and easy to understand way, written and explained by someone who has obviously done this stuff for a long time.

The author's name is Brian Scott, and he's my guest on today's podcast.

Brian is an author, motivational speaker, thought leader, life coach, transformation coach, influencer, podcast host for the reality revolution podcast and the laptop lifestyle podcast, and he is also an artist.

He has studied and worked on consciousness expansion for over 20 years. His primary goal is to find that spark to and unleash your greatest potential.

Brian helps people overcome obstacles, unlock abundance, improve their health and improve their relationships. He incorporates basic to advanced strategies and technologies such as meditation, hypnosis, qi gong, reality transurfing, sensory deprivation, virtual reality, mind tech, quantum jumping, reality shifting, yoga, energy psychology, luck coaching, NLP, Silva Mind Control, and biohacking. After walking away unscathed from a near-fatal shooting in his home, Brian began a fanatical search for answers.

He deepened his research into parallel realities, quantum mechanics, and consciousness to uncover what happened in his close call with death.

Along the way, he developed a series of techniques capable of creating profound transformations.

In The Reality Revolution: The Mind-Blowing Movement to Hack Your Reality, Brian introduces you to the techniques that have helped his clients find lasting love, create wealth, and revitalize health.

You’ll learn how to surf through parallel realities and unlock the power of your mind through a mix of researched and science-backed techniques like qi gong, meditation, quantum jumping, energy work, and reality transsurfing. If you’re ready to create an incredible reality for yourself, this book shows you the way, and we have a great discussion about it on today's show.

During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Brian's name change created an identity transformation...09:45 -How a near death experience led Brian toward his journey...12:11 -The big mistake people make about time...18:20 -Is intuition your future self talking back to you?...27:20 -Why slackers always get lucky...30:00 -Using anchoring to change your reality...38:50 -EcoMeditation...43:50 -Brian's energy flow manipulation routine...46:00 -The 5 Tibetan Rites...49:25 -Intention setting and your Reticular Activating System...1:00:00 -Brian's downloadable meditations...1:06:45 Episode sponsors:

I met my friend Niraj Naik (the same guy who invented the crazy holotropic-style breathwork protocol I do in my sauna) inside a sauna in Estonia, Finland, where he led me and one of my buddies through an "omming" breathwork protocol, and I've been hooked on him as my "go to guy" for breath work ever since.

He joined me first on the podcast "The Renegade Pharmacist: How To Increase The Effects Of Psilocybin, The Secrets Of Colostrum, Fixing Constipation With Breathwork & More" and also invented the breath work routine that I took my boys and I through and detail in the article "How To Blast You (And Your Child's!) Physical, Mental, & Spiritual Resilience Through The Roof With Breathwork". He also recently designed an extraordinary 8 day breath work course called "SOMABreathFit" that my boys and I also just did - a course that combines fitness, sleep protocols, meditation protocols and much more in a simple-to-implement, done-for-you short daily program.

Niraj comes from a background of working long hours for several years as a community pharmacist. Becoming a certified “legal drug dealer” at the ripe age of 24, he got to witness first-hand, many clients going home with shopping bags full of drugs each month, rarely getting better and usually going on to suffer from other diseases.

He also learned of the debilitating side effects of the prescription medications which drove many of the patients to have to take more and more drugs to ease the side effects. Curious to find ways to improve his own health, he attended several health seminars and discovered an in-depth approach on how to reach optimum health and vitality by understanding the true origin of disease and how to prevent it.

After experiencing great benefits with his own health, Niraj was motivated to devise a scheme to see if he could also help his suffering patients. He incorporates a lifestyle plan called his "healthy shopping lists" that includes simple food swaps, tools and websites to support their specific conditions.

Within two weeks he received testimonials from patients who were starting to get better and within a few months some being able to lower their dosages or completely come off their medications. After an arduous battle trying to get his novel approach accepted into the mainstream that resulted in a lot of stress and disillusionment, in 2010 he was diagnosed with a stress-related illness, ulcerative colitis, that left him housebound for over 10 months.

He was told by doctors and nurses there existed no cure and he would need to be on medication for the rest of his life. Like his patients, Niraj suffered from side effects of his medication to the point he felt completely hopeless and even suicidal. He was then left with a choice that would be a major turning point in his life. Test out a new drug or have his colon removed. He decided to choose option 3, a path not yet known by conventional medicine. So began his search to learn from people who had great success with either curing themselves or others from chronic illness.

He learned a combination of natural treatments including Ayurvedic practices and dietary recommendations from Paleo and Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD). He studied healing methods through meditation, yoga and mind power techniques like self-hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). He even discovered the powerful techniques of sound and music therapy as tools for reducing stress and promoting self-healing. Niraj finally broke free from the burdens of his illness, without medication. The experience of illness has allowed him to completely re

invent his life and discover a new passion for helping others to do the same. His specialty is helping people recover, prevent or reduce the dependency for longterm medication for the metabolic diseases of diabetes, heart disease and obesity as well as autoimmune disease where stress is an underlining factor in the cause.

Niraj is now a professional musician, holistic health expert and entrepreneur. He runs several successful websites that help others who suffer from stress-related, chronic diseases through his self-composed, captivating meditation music and online courses.

Niraj has composed music for healing centers, spas and therapists worldwide.

During our discussion, you'll discover: -Niraj's personal history and what makes his programs unique...06:50 -What mainstream yoga practices get wrong...21:45 -How CO2 has been thrown under the bus...33:15 -Where Wim Hof gets it wrong...36:10 -Breath work combined w/ hyperbaric treatment?...45:45 -Combining modern science w/ ancient wisdom when it comes to breath work...50:35 -Why humming is an important part of Niraj's training...55:30 -The importance of the control pause tactic...59:55 -What happens at Niraj's live clinics...1:04:05 -How diet affects your breath...1:12:45 -And much more! -Episode Sponsors

I get a ton of questions about hair growth, grey hair, male and female pattern baldness (alopecia), skin beauty treatments, scar and stretch mark fixes, beauty "biohacks," and beyond.

So I figured it was high time to get an expert on the show to unpack all of this. His name is Dr. Cameron Chesnut.

Dr. Chesnut and I have quite a history. We've known each other since way back in our Ironman triathlon competition days, grew up in the same general region of Northern Idaho/Eastern Washington, and have recently reconnected as brothers with similar interests in fitness, health, nutrition, spirituality, biohacking, beauty, and beyond.

Dr. Chesnut recently opened a brand spankin' new biohacking facility in Spokane, WA called "ÔPTIM," which is a fully comprehensive health optimization practice, combining a revolutionary blend of functional medicine and regenerative modalities in a way that offers you unparalleled wellness.

Recently at a dinner, Dr. Chesnut was enlightening me on common myths and tips regarding hair growth (based on my recent project of growing out my hair, and potentially, magically sprouting a beard), and also showing me all the other cool toys they have at Optim, such as hormone optimization, cryotherapy, laser, and other photobiomodulation treatments, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treaments, hyperbaric oxygen, IV's stem cells, and beyond—so I figured we could geek out on a podcast.

So who is he, exactly?

Dr. Chesnut is recognized worldwide as a key opinion leader and innovator in both minimally invasive and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. He was fellowship-trained in cosmetic surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, laser surgery, and Mohs micrographic surgery at UCLA, training in the most demanding cosmetic and surgical environments of Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and Los Angeles.

His fellowship at UCLA featured a rigorous, full integration of plastic surgery, facial plastic surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and dermatologic surgery. Through this one-of-a-kind integration, Dr. Chesnut is a well-rounded and cross-pollinated surgeon.

He has an unparalleled foundation in skin cancer treatment, plastic reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery, as well as laser and aesthetic dermatology. Dr. Chesnut is an international expert on both the art and science of facial aging, utilizing an approach that relies not just on surgery but addresses all aspects of aging.

He loves to utilize this knowledge and skill of cosmetic surgery to improve the results of his skin cancer patients during their plastic reconstructions.

A leader in the fields of dermatologic and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Chesnut is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning speaker and has been invited by his peers to present throughout the world on numerous cosmetic and reconstructive topics. He is a regular contributor to the surgical literature, continues to author numerous book chapters, and has been recognized for his research and innovation in cosmetic surgery, lasers, and noninvasive treatments.

A native of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Dr. Chesnut has returned home to the Inland Northwest. He graduated with Honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his dermatology residency at UCLA where he was selected as the Chief Resident and subsequently was selected for the integrated Procedural Dermatology Fellowship, also at UCLA.

Outside of surgery, Dr. Chesnut enjoys active time with his wife, Aubree, and his children Torin, Tatum, and Callum. He is an avid surfer, passionate skier, loves beach volleyball, tennis, and playing on the river.

During this discussion, you'll discover: -The fringe micro-needling treatment Cameron did on Ben before their recording...4:30 - What to expect after Cameron's PRP treatment...9:25 - Cameron's background...13:25 - All the cool gadgets inside Cameron's ÔPTIM Clinic...18:25 - Pros and cons of derma-rolling...21:20 -  Supplements demystified...33:15 - Iron and copper contributing to grey hair...41:30 - If butter on the scalp can bring back hair...53:00 - How exosomes enhances the effects of hair growth...1:00:50 - How do hair transplants work?...1:03:50 - How Cameron treats scars and stretch marks...1:06:15 - How much therapy is too much...1:13:00 -And much more! It's no secret that I weave into my personal health protocol many "ancient" tactics I've borrowed from the fields of Traditional Chinese Medicine and also Ayurveda, including...

...tooth and oral care via coconut oil pulling and tongue scraping...

...Tai Chi and Qi Gong-esque morning exercises...

...acupuncture, acupressure, and tapping...

...digestive organ massage...

...dry skin brushing...

...cooking and blending with ghee...

...and much more...

I find Ayurveda particularly intriguing.

After all, these days, time is scarce and precious in today’s world and we seek solutions that are quick. While allopathic medicine tends to focus on the management of disease, the ancient study of Ayurveda provides us with holistic knowledge for preventing disease and eliminating its root cause.

For the past 21 years, my guest on today's podcast and author of the excellent book Everyday Ayurveda: Daily Habits That Can Change Your Life in a Day, Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya, MPH, MD, Ph.D., DABHM, FABPM, HHC, CAP, has been practicing holistic family medicine emphasizing Ayurveda and teaching best clinical practices and educational techniques for learning Integrative Medicine.

She currently works between her private consultation medical practice in Manhattan and her deeper study of indigenous medicines around the world, when she consults with patients via phone/video conference.

She has recently completed a Ph.D. in Ayurveda at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in the ancient city of Varanasi in India. As the first U.S. Fulbright Scholar sponsored jointly in 2013-2014 by the U.S. Department of State and the Government of India to research and teach Ayurvedic medicine, Dr. Bhattacharya continued research in the clinical and physicochemical bases of bhasmas, which are herbometallic compounds that often work quickly and cleanly to rebalance the body from "incurable" diseases.

For her Ph.D. thesis 2014-2018, she studied how plants work medicinally, from soil to stomach to cell. Specializing in The Patient, Dr. Bhattacharya actively incorporates traditional and indigenous medical systems into her clinical practice of holistic family medicine, using modern science only where it actually works for real patients.

The goal is not a clinical trial; it is to help each patient improve his/her quality of life, health, and well-being. She defines, refines, and practices medicine on a holistic and truly integrative path. She provides holistic medical care for the underserved as well as for insured patients.

Modalities that Dr. Bhattacharya uses include herbs, nutrition, yoga, breathwork (pranayama), exercise counseling, energy work, mind-body medicine, homeopathy, and aromatherapy, with a strong underpinning of Ayurveda, as well as the use of biomedical drugs and procedures as needed.

During this discussion, you'll discover: -Bhaswati's childhood development as an ayurvedic practitioner...7:30 -How phases of the moon affect the quality of ghee while it's being made...13:45 -How the day is split up according to Ayurvedic principles...21:30 -Bhaswati's morning routine ...36:15

I recently read the book Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever! (and my twin boys also watched the accompanying documentary "THE EARTHING MOVIE").

Although I already knew about the importance of having an intimate connection with the planet we live upon, this book blew my mind when it comes to identifying one of the best solutions for chronic inflammation, better sleep, enhanced deep sleep, and much more.

Since reading it, I've been traveling everywhere with my grounding sleeping mat, wearing my Earth runners every day, and my boys have barely even touched their shoes. In the book, author Clint Ober introduces the planet's powerful, amazing, and overlooked natural healing energy and how people anywhere can readily connect to it.

This never-before-told story—filled with fascinating research and real-life testimonials—chronicles a discovery with the potential to create a global health revolution.

So obviously, I had to get Clint on the show!

Clint Ober is the innovator behind the Grounding Movement & CEO of Earth FX Inc., a research and development company located in Palm Springs, California. A series of seemingly unrelated synchronistic events dating back to his early childhood led to a groundbreaking discovery that’s being recognized as the greatest health discovery of all time.

Grounding has now become a massive international movement—causing people to shed their shoes and reconnect electrically to the surface of the Earth. Clint first learned about grounding when installing cable TV systems in Billings, Montana in the early 1960s.

A decade later, he formed Telecrafter Corporation and built it into the largest provider of cable installation services in the United States. This company specialized in the proper grounding of cable installations for safety and TV signal stability.

In the 1980s, he turned his attention to the developing computer industry and partnered with McGraw-Hill to distribute live digital news services, via cable, to PCs. This led to the development of the first cable modem and an increased awareness of the need for proper system grounding.

Following a health challenge in 1995, Clint retired and embarked on a personal journey looking for a higher purpose in life. During his travels, he noticed people wearing plastic and rubber-soled shoes that insulate the body from Earth. He wondered if no longer being naturally grounded could affect us. The question led to an experiment that suggested grounding alone reduced chronic pain and improved sleep.

Thereafter, he developed a working hypothesis: Grounding the human body to the Earth normalizes the functioning of all of the body’s systems — the body utilizes the earth’s electrical potential and free electrons to maintain its internal electrical stability, normalizing all of its self-regulating and self-healing systems.

Over the past twenty years, he has supported over 20 research studies* that collectively demonstrate that grounding reduces inflammation and promotes normal functioning of all body systems.

During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Clint became interested in the concept of earthing...7:45 -How a busload of Japanese tourists gave Clint his big idea regarding grounding...17:12 -The early days of Clint's clinical research on grounding the body with the Earth...23:23 -What is going on in the body when a person is grounded with the Earth...33:25 -The mechanism of action for grounding to the earth...43:30 -What our ancestors understood about earthing and grounding...48:15 -The best surface when it comes to conductivity between the Earth and the body...50:20 -Best shoes to wear to properly ground with the earth...53:35 -The length of time required for a person to become properly grounded with the Earth...57:15 -How to know whether or not your home is grounded with the Earth...1:02:15 -Whether all grounding mats created equal...1:04:05 -The grounding patches that are an athlete's best friend...1:08:00 -And much more... The brilliant, slightly crazy, fringe Dr. John Lieurance is back! You may have originally heard him in the highly popular episode "The Crazy Future Of Medical Biohacking: Skull Resets, Suppositories, Nasal Sprays, Nebulizers, Sound Therapy & More With Dr. John Lieurance.", in which we delved into everything from Amazonian herbal hape nasal spray to nebulizing glutathione to NAD suppositories and a whole lot more.

Today's episode promises to be just as riveting, but is focused around one molecule in particular that John has been intensively studying and is now releasing a groundbreaking book about: melatonin. We'll answer questions about and also take a deep dive into the science behind melatonin topics such as:

Should you take melatonin?

How much is too much?

Does it lower your own endogenous production?

What delivery mechanism of melatonin is best?

Is melatonin good for anything besides sleep?

Should anyone not take melatonin?

Can you "reset" your circadian rhythm with high dose melatonin?

Dr. John Lieurance is a naturopathic physician, chiropractic neurologist, and all-around expert in medical biohacking who has been in private practice in Florida for 25 years. He is the chief scientific advisor of Glutagenic™ and Advanced Biome Corp™ and heads up Advanced Rejuvenation, a multi-disciplinary clinic with a focus on treating chronic diseases, regenerative medicine, functional neurology, functional medicine, and stem cell research.

Dr. Don Wood is a guy I've been hearing about for years from multiple trusted friends of mine in the self-improvement and self-mastery realms, and I finally decided to connect with him and his work more deeply by hosting him at my house in Spokane, Washington to showcase the special flavor of therapy that he does - by working with both me and my family for a four hour session, followed by the podcast you can hear in this episode.

Don is the Founder of the Inspired Performance Institute and developed something called "TIPP™", which is a cutting edge approach to high performance using advancements in neuroscience. After years of research, Dr. Wood coined the term “emotional concussions ™” which simply means events and experiences in your life may have had a profound effect on your current behaviors and habits, he refers to these events and experiences as “atmospheric conditions ™” If you experience PTSD-like symptoms, health issues related to an overactive sympathetic nervous system, or impediments in your progress towards everything from business success to relationship issues to athletic performance, Don says nothing is wrong with you, and you might simply just need a reboot. Don's work is based on the idea that events and experiences throughout our lifetime continue to play a role in how we experience life in the present. He has also realized that there was a better way of treating these type of issues.

He says… …“Teaching people to live with, manage and cope with the daily stress doesn’t fix the problem. The solution comes from understanding it’s source and providing a long-term permanent solution”. Since 2015, Don's Inspired Performance Institute has worked to create innovative strategies to help people heal from the limiting effects of trauma, so they can feel and perform at their best.

The result has been the development of a revolutionary approach to performance improvement referred to as TIPP (The Inspired Performance Program). TIPP is based on the idea that our minds have developed some glitches and error messages in the ways they store information about events from our past. And apparently, we all have these glitches! Even high-functioning individuals, like executives and professional athletes, have so-called glitches from their pasts, and once “reprocessed”, their performance improves to a whole new level.

Once the mind is updated and refreshed using the Inspired Performance Institute’s NEURO technique, a part of TIPP, individuals are able to remain present, calm and focused, and their performance naturally improves. After we reset the mind with TIPP, we restore the body with our NOWW program. A chronically dysregulated and imbalanced nervous system can lead to anxiety, depression, PTSD, panic attacks, addictions, or even chronic illnesses such as auto-immune disorders, thyroid problems, cardiac and gastrointestinal diseases, and even, cancer. TIPP, TIPP KIDS, and the NOWW program are designed to help reset the mind and restore the body to optimal states of health, performance, and wellness.

Don actually separates trauma into two camps. Most of us think of trauma as a clearly defined, often injury-inducing event like a car accident or a mugging. He calls this big ‘T’ trauma. The second type of trauma he calls emotional concussion. These are experiences that affected us psychologically but may be more loosely defined or harder to pinpoint. Don says that a very large percentage of the population is dealing with unprocessed trauma when you consider these two types of trauma. Unresolved trauma or disturbing events and experiences from your past may be interfering with your ability to function at your highest level.

These experiences may limit our ability to regulate your mood, focus, or connect with others in a healthy, loving and safe way. When we experience a traumatic event, our body has a physical response to that trauma. Trauma triggers that fight or flight (aka active state) response. This creates inflammation in the body as a way of pausing the immune system so that the body can use all resources to respond to the trauma. When we are no longer in danger, the body allows everything to return to normal. What a lot of people don’t realize is that when we have unprocessed trauma, we think about it.

And, when we think about it, we relive it which results in the same fight or flight response. We have the physical response to the trauma just by thinking about it! If we are doing this constantly, the immune system can’t function properly, which overtime results in autoimmune issues. Often we dismiss the idea that trauma is the cause of an issue because we may not recognize the experience as trauma. Don uses a great analogy in this episode that points to the high-definition memories we have of traumatic times in our past vs the muted memory we have of a non-threatening event (like the dinner we had last night).

These high-definition memories can be very powerful and can trigger a physical response. The first step in identifying them as triggers sit to recognize the level of the memory and the physical response it brings. In Don's program, they actually monitor the brainwave state to determine the response to memories. Recognizing the physical response to memories of past trauma is not enough, the brain needs to be reconditioned as to how it responds to that memory. This is what Don does with TIPP. This program gets the mind to reset that high-definition memory into the same format as a day-to-day memory. By doing this, the body no longer sees that memory as a threat and it no longer triggers the fight or flight response. The brain is no longer sending an error message.

He points out that far too often we treat the symptoms caused by these trauma responses. For example, treating anxiety, depression, or inflammation that will never be resolved if the trigger memory is not reset. Many people block bad experiences or they dismiss them as not being traumatic. This may lead them to believe that these experiences can’t be the cause because they don’t have these vivid memories Don is talking about. However, these memories may still be operating on a subconscious level and can still put the body into an active response state.

This happens because our minds receive too much information for us to actively process. So, the mind does something academics refer to as ‘time slicing’. This is when the mind takes in information and slices off some to be stored in the subconscious where it can be processed or accessed later. Then, when we encounter something similar, the mind goes searching for reference and the stored memory, resurrecting the memory in full color. This can trigger an active state response. For many people, the idea of unearthing or talking about their traumatic memories feels traumatic in itself. Don says that his patients don’t need to actually discuss the experience or share the memory. This type of work can be done without having to revisit the event consciously!

During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Don began his work...12:38 -Techniques used to manage rather than fix stress...17:05 -Trauma isn't always experienced on a battlefield...29:50 -How to reprogram the brain...36:38 -Not just accepting, but laughing at the problem...39:43 -How River and Terran may process trauma in the future after a session with Don...45:17 -The success rate with Don's TIPP program...49:45 -Whether this work could be approached from a functional medicine angle...51:55 -How a Special Forces soldier overcame trauma thanks to Don's practice...55:30 -Studies to see what happens at a neurotransmitter level...1:00:00 -Anchors used to recall trauma...1:02:30 -Whether the effects can be felt via Skype or Zoom...1:17:45 -And much more! Robert Slovak is my go-to "guru" for all things water.

He first joined me in the podcast "Water & Water Filtration: Everything You Need To Know About Water Filters, Alkaline Water, Structured Water, Hydrogen-Rich Water, Deuterium Depleted Water & Much More!"

...and then also in the podcast "Everything You Need To Know About How To Use Hydrogen Water: Timing, Dosing, Delivery Mechanisms, Hydrogen Tablets, Hydrogen Water Machines, Hydrogen Inhalers & Much More!"

...and now Robert is back for a three-peat to talk all things minerals, Quinton, advanced hydration methods, and beyond! Robert is a degreed mechanical, aeronautical, astronautical engineer best known for co-founding Water Factory Systems in the early 1970s.

He and his brother were among the early developers of reverse osmosis (RO) technology and its many applications. Their successful innovations encompassed home and office RO drinking water systems, bottled water production, laboratory purification, hemodialysis, seawater desalination, microchip production, bottled water production, water vending, spot-free vehicle washing, and scores more.

As a result of the rapid growth of RO applications, Robert’s ongoing seminars, and a best-selling industry book on the subject of point of use (POU) RO, he became a well-known figure in the water industry.

Robert officially retired from the US water industry in 1996 and went on to bring his knowledge and experience to Brazil, Asia, and other international markets. He put together a team and published Agua Latino America to establish a legitimate water equipment and education infrastructure in Brazil and South America. His “students” continue to play a major role in Brazil’s water industry.

In 2004, while in a remote location of Brazil, Robert became seriously ill and was introduced to an obscure 1897 medical discovery known as Original Quinton Marine Plasma (named after the famous revolutionary biologist René Quinton). Robert attributes his "jungle" survival to Quinton's remarkable healing properties. This ocean-harvested nutraceutical contains the entire Periodic Table of organo-complexed minerals and trace elements as well as essential and rare micronutrients and has been continuously produced for more than a century.

Having been an avid student of health and nutrition science for decades, Robert recognized the remarkable history and efficacy of Quinton Marine Plasma in supporting a wide range of the most difficult health conditions and has distributed it to leading-edge clinics and health practitioners around the world since 2008.

For the past nine years, Robert’s focus has been on bringing a new nutraceutical breakthrough called “Molecular Hydrogen” (H2) to medical professionals and health-minded consumers. This “smallest molecule in the Universe” has been overlooked for its remarkable health benefits until now. With more than 800 worldwide health studies on the subject, physicians, researchers, and clinicians have been proclaiming H2 as the most unique and versatile antioxidant and signaling molecule.

In 2010, Robert co-developed a practical way for everyone to benefit from this discovery by creating the first reactive hydrogen tablet that infuses water with a supersaturated concentration of H2 gas. This proven nutraceutical is now in its 9th year of distribution in both professional medical and consumer markets.

In 2011, Robert became a founding investor in the Quicksilver Scientific Corp., which was developing a groundbreaking new technology to deliver nutrients and nutraceuticals to the cells: nano-encapsulated liposomes. In just a few years, Quicksilver Scientific established its scientific dominance in this growing field and is currently expanding its product scope and global distribution.

Recently, several of the key formulas offered by Quicksilver Scientific have become a cornerstone in the ongoing battle against the coronavirus. While attending medical and wellness conferences throughout North America, Robert recognized the persistent minefield of water-related misinformation encountered by doctors, patients, and consumers alike—that’s after spending nearly 50 years in the water technology industry. This unsettling experience soon turned into the motivation to do something about it and Water And Wellness was established in 2017.

A team with more than 150 years of combined experience was assembled to create a product line of advanced POU and point of entry (POE) water treatment systems for health- and wellness-minded consumers. In addition, a line of synergistic water additives was formulated for the consumer market including Quinton and QuintEssential minerals & trace elements, Active pH Restore alkalizing mineral powder, Active H2 ULTRA molecular H2 tablets, and Active Ribose C high-bioavailability vitamin C.

Recently, Robert’s 20-year interest in Deuterium Depleted Water (DDW) took a new direction forward. With the revival of Soviet-era research from the 1960s and recent announcements explaining the profound health benefits of DDW, Robert and his associate acted quickly in creating a new company, Litewater Scientific.

Their strategy is to offer a more advanced and affordable brand of DDW for consumers and health practitioners. The Litewater brand of DDW is now available here in 1/2-liter (5 ppm) and 2-liter (10 ppm) bottles throughout North America. Robert continues to be a very active figure in the rapidly expanding role of water in the wellness and anti-aging community, making appearances and presentations worldwide.

During this discussion, you'll discover: -Why hydrogen has been the biggest surprise of Robert's career...8:15 -How Chromium is used to stabilize blood sugar...13:45 -How Robert discovered the magic of Quinton minerals...18:10 -How Quinton is harvested...25:45 -Where in the ocean Quinton originates from...34:20 -Early proof of the efficacy of Quinton minerals...37:40 -How Quinton upset the pharmaceutical industry...43:00 -The effects of Quinton injected via muscle...46:50 -Benefits of consuming seawater in moderation...52:55 -The difference between isotonic and hypertonic Quinton...56:30 -Hacking the absorbability of Quinton with light, water vortices, etc....1:06:30 -And much more! A few months ago, I was having dinner with my friend Jordan Rubin and - between bits of my friend Andy Neale's MCT-infused-coconut milk-collagen-superfood ice cream - Jordan fascinated me with stories of the crazy animals and superfoods he now grows on his farm, all in a sustainable and regenerative way that could feed a lot of people with very low acreage requirement. So I just knew I had to get Jordan on the podcast to talk about his farm and his techniques.

After growing up in a health-focused household, Rubin attended Florida State University. But at age 19, a life-threatening case of Crohn’s disease struck. After losing 80 pounds, Rubin was just 104 pounds and ravaged by inflammation. (His doctors didn’t expect him to live much longer.) With conventional medicine utterly failing him, he turned to nutritional-based healing and began specifically studying Biblical references to nutritional health and lifestyle.

Making Bible-based diet adjustments, unlocking the power of fermented food and utilizing probiotic supplementation teeming with soil-based organisms, Rubin turned his health around and healed himself of Crohn’s disease in weeks. Fast forward years later to 1999, and he and his wife, Nicki, founded Garden of Life.

The company quickly grew into an award-winning, retail powerhouse nutrition company. Jordan is now one of America’s most-recognized and respected natural health experts, and is the New York Times bestselling author of The Maker’s Diet, and 26 additional titles, including his latest work, Essential Fasting. An eco-entrepreneur, author and lecturer on health and nutrition, Jordan has shared a message of health and hope across the globe for the last 22 years.

Jordan is the founder of Garden of Life, the leading whole food nutritional supplement company, and Beyond Organic, a vertically integrated organic food, beverage and dietary supplement manufacturer. Jordan has formulated hundreds of dietary supplements, functional foods and beverages including many #1 top sellers in the Healthy Foods channel.

In 2016, along with co-founder Dr. Josh Axe, Jordan launched Ancient Nutrition, a company that brings the principals of Ancient Nutrition to the Modern World. Jordan is the founder of Heal the Planet Farm, a regenerative permaculture retreat located in Missouri’s Ozark mountains within the four-thousand-acre Beyond Organic Ranch. Jordan and his beautiful wife Nicki are the parents of six wonderful children.

During this discussion, you'll discover: -Why Jordan prefers to eat yak and water buffalo over cow...9:30 -Key differences in water buffalo milk from cow milk...15:00 -Why duck eggs over chicken eggs...21:00 -How these types of foods can be available to the masses...26:10 -Fun facts on raising ducks...31:30 -Pros and cons of camel milk...36:45 -Superfoods Jordan is raising on his farm in Tennessee...39:00 -Mixed species combined with rotational grazing...45:55 -Jordan's personal nutrition philosophy...55:25 -How perspectives on food consumption change with various epochs of time...1:01:30 -Resources for following what Jordan is up to...1:03:10 -And much more! I thought I knew everything there was to know about essential oils. I've been using them ever since my father, Gary Greenfield, introduced me to the incredibly powerful oil of oregano nearly 18 years ago. I quickly adopted oil of oregano as part of my health regimen—using it for everything from supporting my immune system to balancing my gut microbiome to cleaning my teeth.  I've also done tons of podcasts about essential oils, including:

I am constantly diffusing essential oils in my bedroom and office; sniff oils like peppermint, rosemary, and cinnamon pre-workout; rub oils into the feet of my children before they go to bed at night; and basically check every box of being a full-on, card-carrying essential oil hippie.

But, after recently reading the book Essential Oils to Boost the Brain and Heal the Body: 5 Steps to Calm Anxiety, Sleep Better, and Reduce Inflammation to Regain Control of Your Health by my friend Jodi Cohen, I wound up learning a host of new information and uses for essential oils I had previously been unfamiliar with. So naturally, I just had to get Jodi on my podcast.

Jodi is a bestselling author, award-winning journalist, functional practitioner, and founder of Vibrant Blue Oils, where she has combined her training in nutritional therapy and aromatherapy to create unique proprietary blends of organic and wild-crafted essential oils. She has helped over 70,000 clients heal from brain-related challenges, including anxiety, insomnia, and autoimmunity.

Her website, vibrantblueoils.com, is visited by over 500,000 natural health seekers every year, and she has rapidly become a top resource for essential oils education on the Internet today. Jodi believes that just as your cell phone or laptop slows down and drains the battery when too many tabs are left open, your brain fatigues when poorly functioning systems or ailments drain its energy.

Complaints of brain fog, fatigue, and ADD/ADHD are on the rise and growing every year. All of these factors can block your brain's ability to detoxify and heal. If toxins are not eliminated, they recirculate in the brain, leading to inflammation, which further compromises your brain. What's more, formal diagnoses of brain-related health challenges like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS are increasing exponentially.

Here's her good news: Plant-based essential oils are a powerful self-care tool for transforming your life and healing on many levels, even when prescription drugs have failed. In Jodi Cohen’s five-step protocol outlined in her book, the body's natural systems are jump-started with essential oil recipe blends that can:

  • Alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Improve sleep
  • Calm pain and inflammation
  • Increase energy, sharpen focus, and improve memory
  • Improve digestion and promote weight loss
  • Strengthen the immune system

Armed with Cohen’s five steps in her book, and this podcast, you’ll be able to start your own essential oils regimen immediately and be on your way to a healthier body and brain.

During this discussion, you'll discover: -The Vibrant Blue Oils blend Jodi used during the interview that improves body circulation...09:05 -Stressful experiences that led to Jodi getting interested in essential oils...13:10
  • Jodi's daughter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and her son was diagnosed with depression
  • Collapsed emotionally after her son was under proper care
  • Ingesting what she thought was the proper nutrition (trained as a nutritionist)
  • A friend gave her a gift of essential oils; said her gut was damaged to not ingest the nutrition she was taking in
  • Muscle testing technique to narrow into the most effective remedy
  • Suffering from insomnia
  • Pineal gland doesn't secrete melatonin when cortisol is released in excess
  • Researched essential oils and realized two things
    1. Very little was researched on how essential oils balance physiology
    2. Existing research was too complicated
  • Oils can be used for preventative medicine
-How topical administration of essential oils affects the vagus nerve and the organ system...21:06
  • Clinical practice inconsistent with the research
  • Topical application does not have a systemic benefit
    • Behind the ears for vagal nerve stimulation
    • Above the kidneys on the lower back for the adrenals
  • Clinical practice was inconsistent with what the research said
  • Research on topical application says it is not very effective
    • Applying topical application on a sore knee after a workout has an almost immediate effect but a topical application on the knee does not relieve soreness on your neck
  • Kevin Tracey, surgically implementing devices behind the ear to activate vagus nerve
  • FDA has approved this for epilepsy, migraines, and such
  • Stimulatory oils to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system (experiment with blends)
  • Acupuncture and oils alleviate stagnation and congestion with the energy
  • Hidden Messages in Water by Masaru Emoto
-What phenylpropanoids are...27:01
  • Plant constituents involved in flavonoid synthesis
  • Terry Wahls wrote foreword to Jodi's book
  • Advocates plant diversity and essential oils
  • Good for the digestive process, act as prebiotics
  • Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple by David Stewart
  • Breast cancer treatments target hormone receptors and prevent cancer cells from metastasizing
  • Endocrine-disrupting chemicals
  • Essential oils are fat-soluble, can access the cell and clean cell receptors
-Application points on the body that can elicit a certain response with essential oils...30:30
  • Reflex points are on the bottom of the feet and ears
  • Big toe correlated with the brain
  • Err on the side of caution with a carrier oil
  • Parasympathetic blend has clove and lime for the vagus nerve; use as an acupuncture needle
  • Only pressed citrus blends may have potential for harm to the skin in the sun (distilled isn't as harmful)
  • Vagus nerve infection hypothesis
  • Mouth is a hotbed for most infections
  • The jaw drains near the earlobe where it intersects with the vagus nerve
  • Dr. Christine Schaffer of Immanence Health in Seattle
  • Topically applying oils on the neck has many benefits
  • Lymph is like a one-way street
-The best carrier oils for different situations...41:18
  • Different oils work differently as carrier oils
  • Fractionated coconut oils for the vagus nerve
  • Jojoba oil for slower, yoga-type effect
  • Most essential oil research looks at blends, not single oils
-How essential oils can be used to stimulate pineal gland function...43:18
  • Circadian Rhythm blend, with rose geranium, grapefruit, melaleuca, myrtle, lavender, myrrh, balsam of Peru, with fractionated coconut oil as carrier
  • Pineal gland releases melatonin in response to darkness
    • Melatonin is great for detoxifying
  • Blood-brain barrier doesn't protect the pineal gland; blood flow is very high in that area
  • Glyphosate, aluminum, and fluoride from the water hits the pineal gland harder than other parts of the brain (impedes ability to release melatonin)
  • Most remedies can't get into the brain due to the blood-brain barrier
  • They remove calcification, congestion
  • Remove chelation in the brain area
  • Skin above the ears is very thin, ideal place to apply oils
  • Things imbalanced in most people (as discussed in the book):
    • Stuck in the parasympathetic fight or flight state of the nervous system so they can't heal
    • Lack of sleep; sleep is when the brain detoxifies; the brain cleans house during sleep
    • Energy
    • Immune modulation
  • People report better recall of dreams and even erotic dreams using the Circadian Rhythm blend
-Using essential oils as anesthetics...49:13
  • Essential oils improve blood and lymph flow, relieve inflammation
  • Peppermint is efficacious for pain relief
  • Parasympathetic blend, with clove and lime, calms pain signals
  • Smelling as a general anesthetic - takes priority over all your senses
  • Nose cells are actually brain cells; calms your nervous system that way
  • Topically apply peppermint, basil, lavender, and frankincense for immediate relief
-How cinnamon oil is used for blood sugar regulation...51:51 -The 5 keys to health Jodi systematizes in her book...56:15

  2. Improving sleep and detoxifying the brain
  3. Fueling the brain with energy; lymphatic flow
  4. Reducing stress, improving mood, weight loss, and increasing energy
  5. Modulating the immune system
  • Inhale through the left nostril as an antidote to anxiety attacks

    • The adrenals and the thyroid are controlled by the hypothalamus
    • The hypothalamus is the "CEO of the endocrine system"
  • Brain inflammation is responsible for fatigue, memory loss, pain
  • Immune cells in the brain are different from immune cells in the body
  • Frankincense can turn off inflammatory cascade in the brain (similar to CBD)

Meet Tracy Duhs. I've been a guest on Tracy's podcast in the past. You can listen to that episode here T

racy, like me, was homeschooled K-12, so she's a bit...well...weird, like me. Like me, she also believes that optimal health is a fundamental right for all humanity, not just a privilege for a select few. Helping people activate their vitality and feel alive has been Tracy’s life long mission.

Growing up in a missionary home cultivated her profound sense of compassion and her desire to educate on the simple foundations needed to look and feel our best.

Also like me, by the time she was 15, Tracy had already begun her undergraduate education in medicine. At 16, Tracy shadowed a missionary doctor working in an indigenous village in Guatemala, where she gained hands-on surgical and medical training. The time she spent there opened her eyes and enlarged her heart, to the need for wholistic wellness education and foundations.

After her experience in Guatemala, Tracy decided to forgo a traditional allopathic medical career in favor of one that focused on regenerative care and education. When Tracy became a mother, her professional  path took a personal turn.

Her first child, Grace, was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroid and alopecia universalis at the age of two. Emboldened by her daughter’s struggle, Tracy began her journey into into hydration education by pursuing a PhD in the field of biogenetics as well as shadowing doctors from all around the globe to learn their different approaches to disease.

It was through these experiences that Tracy became passionate about hydration as she learned the power hydration has to transform overall health and wellness in all people.

Today, Tracy works as a modern wellness advocate specializing in the restorative powers of intelligent hydration. She has parlayed her wealth of experience and knowledge into a multi-dimensional career in wellness advocacy and education, starting with her podcast, HYDRATE.

Tracy frequently consults large corporations and hotels to help build and facilitate wellness experiences. She also serves as the Director of the International Brain Summit.

Tracy is the founder the Sanctuary Wellness Experience in San Diego and co-founder of Hydrate at the Sanctuary.

No trip to San Diego would be complete without interviewing at least one Navy SEAL, which is exactly what I got up to on a recent trip to San Diego.

Nick Norris (@nick_norris1981) is a graduate of both the United States Naval Academy and Basic Underwater Demolition / SEAL (BUD/S) Class 247. Upon completion of SEAL training in 2004, Nick assumed progressively higher positions of leadership within Naval Special Warfare. His deployed roles included combat advisor to Iraqi and Afghan military units, Cross Functional Team Leader, and Ground Force Commander during combat operation in both Iraq and Afghanistan.   Nick was most recently assigned to Naval Special Warfare Basic Training Command — SEAL Qualification Training (SQT) as Officer in Charge prior to transitioning off Active Duty. Originally from Chicago, Nick received his Bachelor in Science from the United States Naval Academy in 2003 and his Masters of Science in Real Estate from The University of San Diego in 2013. He is the Executive Director of the C4 Foundation, which provides support and resources through science-based programs to active duty Navy SEALs and their families and is a Board Member of Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions, a non profit focused on ending the veteran suicide epidemic via resources, research, and advocacy related to psychedelic assisted therapy.   Nick is also the Co-Founder and CEO of Protekt Products, a wellness company that is committed to positively impacting customer health via both personal care products and nutritional supplements. Both Protekt and the C4 Foundation value the power of time spent in the outdoors and the positive impact it has on overall well-being. I've talked in the past about the use of inaudible sound waves to elicit specific brain wave and neurotransmitter responses, specifically with a device called the "Apollo," which I discuss in this podcast.

I've also been exploring the use of magnetic waves to elicit certain neurotransmitter responses, via a device called a "Hapbee," which can simulate chemicals such as caffeine, nicotine, melatonin, MDMA, etc. to elicit a physiological response without the actual intake of supplements, pharmaceuticals, or any other compounds or medicines. I'll be doing a podcast on this device soon.

And finally, I've now been experimenting with a so-called "Infopathy" device (use code BENG10 for 10% off any of their devices), which "imprints" water, or your body, with frequencies of everything from St. John's Wort to coffee to Viagra to anything else you want from their literal hundreds of "infoceutical" options. It's so fascinating that I just had to get the inventor on the show!

Anton Fedorenko, the creator of the Infopathy devices, received his BASc in applied physics and mathematics and MASc in innovation and high technologies from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in Russia. For 10 years, Anton has been involved with several water-related projects wherein he not only conducted fundamental research but also developed water-related products and web-based platforms.

From 2013 to 2017, he was a member of the organizing committee for the annual Water Conference on the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of Water.

In 2018, Anton founded Ash•Nu Technologies Inc. and is currently developing two platforms: Infopathy and AquaPsy. Infopathy allows users to transfer infoceuticals (ICs) for health, cosmetic, veterinary, and gardening purposes anytime, anywhere.

AquaPsy takes consciousness research to a whole new level. Through AquaPsy, people from around the world can be connected remotely to water-based sensors, which can detect and evaluate influences caused by non-local mind effects. Both these platforms help one rediscover themselves from the quantum view.

During this discussion, you'll discover: -Infopathy defined...9:05 -Quantum Electro Dynamic (QED) theory applied to everyday life...13:30
  • Video on the QED theory
  • Should water be consumed immediately after being treated?
    • Consume within 3 days
    • Avoid exposure to WiFi or cell phones
  • Miron glass to protect herbs and nutrients from radiation
  • 1 tsp of salt added into the water to increases the efficacy of infopathy (mineralized water is more stable)
  • IC Pad for charging water (use code BENG10 to save 10%)
-Mixing many ingredients into treated water...18:30
  • A "complex" is a mix of several ingredients into one water
  • Suggestions for complexes in order to get the desired result
  • Public complexes are created by practitioners via a peer-reviewed process
  • Running a new infoceutical on top of an existing one will override the old one
-The wearable that allows you to transmit infoceuticals...22:30
  • IC Hummer wearable device, that can also be used on water (use code BENG10 to save 10%)
  • If you don't have the IC Pad, wrap the Hummer around the water and get the same effect
  • IC Pad is slightly faster than the Hummer and also contains herbs
  • The IC Hummer can be attached to the body and absorbed while you do stuff
  • Get a better effect if you wear two IC Hummers at once
  • You can be up to 30 feet away from the device and get the effect
  • A wired device will be more effective than a bluetooth device
-PEMF used to transfer infoceuticals into the body...29:45
  • Files are stored in audio format
  • The PEMF absorbs the electromagnetic waves that are present in the audio
  • Some infoceuticals are PEMF only: must be plugged in, no Bluetooth
  • PEMF infoceuticals are best applied directly to the body, not by drinking imprinted water
  • Three types of infoceuticals:
    • Imprint - signals created from substances; physical products (with any device or via water)
    • PEMF - use them with Glowing IC Pad or IC Hummer to emit PEM waves (wearable and wireless)
    • Audible - does not require a device are used with headphones or with the IC Hummer (also emits acoustic waves)
  • PEMFs are directly applied to the body
-Liquids other than water that can be used to transfer infoceuticals to the body...34:05
  • Liquid should not be hotter than 30°C (around 90°F)
  • Molecules move too fast for it to be effective
  • Ben did a liver and gallbladder transfer via a chilled cocktail
-Legitimate research that has been conducted on infoceuticals...37:00 -Ben and Anton's favorite infoceuticals and best practices...41:35 -Infoceuticals that are appropriate for plants and animals...48:05 -Appropriate frequency of use for infoceuticals...49:20
  • Imprinted and PEMF require regular use to maintain the effects
  • IC Pad can be made wireless with an inexpensive adapter
  • Occasional Bluetooth exposure is not as problematic as constant exposure

If there's anything people say they want more of these days...it's energy.

The world around us continually requires more from us while we give less and less thought to our long-term health. This distracted and overwhelmed mindset has landed us squarely in survival mode, depriving us of the necessary steps to create lasting, sustained energy. The truth is most of us are so exhausted and don't know how to find the energy to live our best lives.

My friend Shawn Wells just put the finishing touches on his new book The ENERGY Formula: Six Life Changing Ingredients to Unleash Your Limitless Potential... ...which covers keto, Paleo, biohacking, stoicism, supplements, CBD, nootropics, MCTs, infrared saunas, cold plunges, how to create a sleep fortress, circadian rhythm, and much more.

With about 60 full-color diagrams and over 100 scientific citations, Shawn gives you the knowledge you will not find anywhere else, including "Formulator's Corners" in every chapter that cover doses, brands, and forms of supplements you need to be taking as well as "Resource Hacks" that tell you the products, devices, apps, and more to use. Developed by biochemist, dietitian, sports nutritionist, and formulation scientist Shawn Wells after surviving a series of torturous health battles, this pivotal and groundbreaking book is the product of meticulous and persistent research to find solutions to his personal and painful experiences—paired with two decades of legitimate clinical and scientific expertise.

Shawn previously joined me on the podcast episode "The Nitty-Gritty Underground World of Supplement Ingredients, Sports Nutrition Frankenfuels, Illegally Laced Compounds & More.," and he's been studying up on plenty more since that show, so prepare for a wild ride on today's podcast. Shawn, who is an MPH, LDN, RD, CISSN, FISSN, is a leading nutritional biochemist and expert on health optimization. He has formulated over 500 supplements, foods, beverages, and cosmeceuticals, has patented 10 novel ingredients, and is now known as the Ingredientologist—the scientist of ingredients. Formerly a chief clinical dietitian with over a decade of clinical experience, he has counseled thousands of people on natural health solutions such as keto, paleo, fasting, and supplements.

He has also personally overcome various health issues including Epstein-Barr virus, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, depression, insomnia, obesity, and a pituitary tumor. As a world-renowned thought leader on mitochondrial health, he has been paid to speak on five different continents. His insights have been prominently featured in documentaries, nationally syndicated radio programs, and regularly on morning television. Shawn's expertise can help any health-conscious individual to better manage stress and experience higher performance and more energy through utilizing his practical research-backed solutions.

During this discussion, you'll discover: -What Shawn had for breakfast the day of the interview...7:11 -Optimizing glutathione levels for optimal mitochondria...21:35 -The criteria by which Shawn evaluates a supplement brand...25:30 -How Shawn discovered two substances and made them into supplement form...35:45

I get tons of questions about microdosing - specifically, microdosing with psychedelics or plant medicines such as lithium, psilocybin, LSD, san pedro, DMT, ibogaine, and beyond.

My guest on today's podcast, Jim Fadiman, PhD, has a host of information on microdosing psychedelics in both his books and also at MicrodosingPsychedelics.com and is considered to be one of the world's leading experts on psychedelics and plant medicine, and has developed some particularly helpful and effective microdosing protocols.

James holds degrees from Harvard and Stanford and wrote his entire dissertation about LSD-assisted therapy. As well as holding consulting, training, counseling and editorial jobs, he has taught in psychology and design engineering at San Francisco State, Brandeis, and Stanford and, for three decades, taught Sufism and other classes at Sophia University that he co-founded. He has published textbooks, professional books, a self-help book, a novel, a produced play and videos including: Drugs: The Children are Choosing for National Public Television. He was featured in a National Geographic documentary and had three solo shows of his nature photography. He has been involved in researching microdosing psychedelics since 2010. His most recent books are:

  • The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide: Safe, Therapeutic, and Sacred Journeys and
  • Your Symphony of Selves: Discover and Understand More of Who We Are (with Jordan Gruber).
During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Jim defines a microdose...07:00
  • Typical LSD micro-dose is 10 micrograms (mcg); mushrooms is .10 gram
  • Small amount, not taken very often
  • The variable you use to know the proper dose is how you feel, not necessarily body mass or type
  • A "high" feeling is a sign it's too much
  • L-theanine used to take the edge off when take too much caffeine (100-200 mg)
  • Magnesium threinate
  • Not just the brain is affected; the entire body feels the effects as well
-Microdosing as a pre-workout strategy...10:53
  • The system works better in general when in equilibrium
  • A marathoner reported taking 20 minutes off his time on a half-marathon after microdosing
  • LSD is not currently banned by WADA, the NCAA, USADA
  • Size of a microgram: 1.45 quadrillion molecules in one microgram
  • The small improvement from a micro-dose may be all you need to win the race, the competition, etc.
  • BGF podcast on ultra-marathoners using CBD/THC to get into a flow state
-Lesser known substances people are microdosing with with varying degrees of efficacy...18:50
  • LSD may turn into other substances once it's in the body (ALD, 1P-LSD)
  • MDMA is not a psychedelic
  • Ibogaine to overcome addiction
  • Psilocybin and peyote have "agendas" or identities not found in LSD
  • Chris Bell documentary on ibogaine
  • Ibogaine is not recreational; the experience can be very unpleasant in its vivid recall of the past
  • Microdosing does not give a psychedelic effect
-How microdosing affects neuroplasticity and brain function...28:45
  • Cells exposed to micro-doses develop more dendrites, capacity
  • People w/ long-term problems such as concussions have legit repair after microdosing
  • Navy SEALs found ibogaine to be one of the best concussion repair treatments they'd experienced
-Gold standard microdosing protocols...36:23
  • Psychedelics have tolerance, the reverse of addiction
  • Fadiman Protocol (2 day effect): 1 day on, 2 days off, 1 day on
  • Stamets Protocol: 4 days on, 3 days off; or 5 days on, 2 days off
  • A study to determine the difference between the two is currently underway
  • Jim does not recommend a "rotational" protocol where a different substance is taken each day
  • Go for the max benefit w/ the least amount you take
  • The best results are reported when taken less often
-Best practices for microdosing...44:00
  • Combine it with other practices such as meditation or walking in nature
  • People report it causes them to return to meditation or walking in nature
  • People have less alcohol, marijuana and coffee because they "don't feel the need"
  • Good idea to take a few weeks off every couple of months
  • Similar to periodization for exercise

  • You experience the social effects of plant medicine for 4-6 weeks after a high dose
  • Don't make a major life decision within 1 week of a high dose
  • Wait until the ego is back onboard, thinking logically
  • Ginkgo Biloba
  • Astaxanthin
  • Quercetin
  • Fecetin
  • Lions Mane
  • Cordyceps
  • Choline derivatives (eggs, walnuts) on microdosing days

Special Announcements...53:30   Listener Q&A: Is Ritalin Healthy? (And Natural Alternatives To Ritalin)...59:06

Elle asks: I am a triathlete, I'm a Yogi, and I also have ADHD. I was prescribed Ritalin recently, which has helped me a lot, except that it's compromised the quality of my deep sleep. I have a very excitable parasympathetic nervous system. I do a lot of different yoga and different breathing exercises, transcendental meditation and prayer to help reactivate my parasympathetic nervous system to balance it. However, I still have issues with my deep sleep. Aside from supplements, biohacks, breathing, yoga and exercises, I was wondering if you could help me with this one. Thanks so much for taking the time.

What Your Pee Can Tell You About Your Body...1:10:30

Ben Pollack asks: Hey, Ben Pollack here from Pemberton, British Columbia. Thanks for all the hard work and the amazing information that you bring for us so that we can live an amazing life. My burning question is about pee. Sometimes when I pee it's foamy. Sometimes it's not foamy, and sometimes it's in-between. Is there something that pee tells us? And if so, what? Thanks very much.

I first met today's podcast guest at a private conference where he was teaching long range rifle shooting combined with meditation? Sound a bit weird and intriguing? I thought so.

It turns out that my guest on today's show - Dr. Doug Brackman - has studied and worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs, pro-athletes, inventors, adventurers, and Navy SEALs and found that certain people are born with a drive often seen in these types of people. It's in their DNA - research has shown that certain genes can manifest resilient and highly focused people who can also be impulsive and easily distracted. While these traits enabled our ancient ancestors to survive, if you have these traits today, it can create havoc in your life. You may be diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, or OCD.

But what the world tells you is a disability or disorder may actually be your greatest gift. Using his experience teaching the highly driven how to master their gift, Doug provides the insight and tools you need to master yours. He teaches you how to:

- Stop self-sabotage forever - End shame and doubt - Find your wolf pack - Use meditation to put yourself on the right path

I just finished his new book Driven: Understanding and Harnessing the Genetic Gifts Shared by Entrepreneurs, Navy SEALs, Pro Athletes (& Maybe You) and was absolutely glued to the pages, so I just had to have Doug on the show.

After achieving a dual PhD in 2002, Dr. Doug struck out to research the components of powerful thought and action, culminating in a very successful practice of helping driven “hunters” focus their gifts on a daily basis.  Dr. Doug has used and integrated approach of meditation, bio-hacking, and applied real world counseling to help thousands of people. He has been naturally drawn to the driven (often ADD/ADHD spectrum) business owner/entrepreneur, and for the last 10 years has worked exclusively with these amazing clients. Dr. Doug is a twenty plus year meditation practitioner and continuous student of the rapid advances in science explaining the benefits of specific types of meditation. He describes himself as a functional MRI geek and student of all spiritual practices and religions.

As I've mentioned many times before on podcasts, I've been using something called a "Continuous Glucose Monitor" (CGM) at various intervals throughout my life for about 4 years or so.

Considering that, as I write about here, I consider glycemic variability (which is exactly what these CGM's track) and inflammation (which is a bit more difficult to measure as it typically requires a visit to a lab) to be my top two key biomarkers for health and longevity, my use of a CGM has given me some very valuable data on how my body responds to certain foods, supplements, exercises, lifestyle practices, and even emotions.

But how does a CGM work, exactly?

What does the really tiny "filamentous" needle actually measure?

How do you get yours to "stick" for long periods of time, or in water?

How does the phone gather data from the sensor, and is EMF a concern?

Does the sensor have to be calibrated to a blood glucose reading due to the fact it is recording interstitial fluid vs. blood?

Is this type of thing, from an insurance standpoint, that is only available to diabetics?

What do you do about activities that cause high glucose excursions, such as exercise/sauna/coffee etc., which wind up decreasing the metabolic score when, long-term, those are all glucose stabilizing/insulin sensitizing activities?

Are there certain supplements or herbs that do the best job controlling blood glucose?

I explore these questions and many others in this podcast with Josh Clemente. Josh is a rocket scientist and worked at SpaceX for 6 years, managing the team that designed the life support systems in their space shuttles. Overtime, he started to notice extreme levels of fatigue and experienced volatile spikes and crashes of energy throughout his day. For someone that worked out consistently and followed the guidelines for what he believed to be healthy practices, it didn’t seem to add up. After experimenting with glucose monitoring, he realized that he was pre-diabetic, borderlining on fully-blown diabetic, and that the foods he was eating were having a significant impact on his performance. It was this discovery and struggle to derive actionable insights from his glucose monitoring that led him to start Levels.

Today at Levels Health, Josh and his team are revolutionizing the way people think about their metabolic health. And why is metabolic health so important? Before Levels, an average person had no way of understanding how efficiently or inefficiently their body was producing energy. Levels enables you, using a new CGM system, to access and understand this information in real-time, so you can start making better diet and lifestyle choices to avoid those energy peaks and valleys.

During our discussion, you'll discover: -How Josh became a rocket scientist...8:50

I'll admit that I've never been a fan of the "juicing" and "cold-pressed juice" trend.

Most of these popular juices are full of oodles of sugar that basically mainline fructose into your bloodstream with very little of the actual fiber and water you'd find in whole fruit.

Most are extremely overpriced compared to what you could make at home, yet what you can make at home creates a huge mess and cleanup situation (anybody else ever tried to clean a juicer daily and had to deal with all the pulp and waste all over the kitchen counter?).

Furthermore, the actual source of most of the produce used in the juices is subpar fruit and vegetables grown in degraded, mineral-depleted soil and/or contains GMO ingredients, pesticides, herbicides and other additives - and if they *don't* have preservatives they go bad super quickly in your fridge, hence destroying all your hard-earned juice.

In the past, my solution for this has been to use a good organic vegetable juice powder, such as the one made by my friends at Organifi

In the past, I've discussed the link between respiration and body fat in articles such as "The 2 Best Ways To Burn Fat Fast (Without Destroying Your Hormones Or Metabolism)" and on the podcast "16 Reasons You’re Not Burning Fat (& How To Lose Weight The Right Way)."

But my friend and former podcast guest Adam Wenguer recently introduced me to a guy who has thoroughly studied the link between breath and fat loss, and he has some very interesting insights on the matter as well as some potent fat loss tips you may find quite handy. His name is David Morin.

David is a German-born American fitness trainer, model, corporate wellness speaker, and entrepreneur. An accredited strength and conditioning trainer and coach with 16 years of experience, David's clients include everyone from folks in the U.S. Special Forces to NBA stars like Allen Iverson. His skill set continues to evolve through various modalities rooted in movement, martial arts, Chi Kung, mediation, biofeedback, free-weight training, HIIT, and advanced biohacking techniques.

He has appeared on more than 30 fitness magazine covers, including Muscle & Fitness, FitnessRX, Men’s Health, and Ironman magazine. For over 10 years and in 15 countries, David has been featured over 100 times as an editorial contributor and instructional fitness model for print media. Not to mention, he has hosted a number of successful fitness product infomercials. David joined “A-list celebrity” Rebel Wilson for a six-page editorial inside Glamour Magazine recently and can be found in advertisements on the internet and in print and billboards around the world representing his supplement partner Dymatize. David can also be seen in the documentary The Perfect Physique as well as working on director Micheal Bay's film “Pain & Gain” with The Rock and Mark Wahlberg.

As a father of four who likes to stay active, David took matters into his own hands to create an effective, efficient at-home training regime called Lynx Fitness. As a corporate wellness speaker for clients such as Bank United and Post Holdings, David covers nutritional topics, practical guides to better health, DNA-test-specific nutrient selection, and behavioral pattern course correction towards higher productivity and health.

Finally, David created FLO2 essential oils for "sniffing" pre-workout, and I have to admit, since David sent me some after this podcast and I began to use them, they are now my preferred alternative to full-on "smelling salts" for hard workouts. I recommend you try them for yourself. You can click here to get FLO2, and use code BENFLO to save 25%.

Special Announcement: In the beginning of this episode, I describe how I got COVID and what I did about it. Enjoy!

Back in 2017, I visited the Peak Brain Institute in Los Angeles, California for a special type of advanced brain scan and brain mapping system called a quantified electroencephalography, or “QEEG”, and I was shocked at what they discovered in my brain.

Dr. Andrew Hill, my guest on today's show, oversaw the entire mapping protocol. Dr. Hill, a UCLA trained cognitive neuroscientist, lecturer, discovered what he described as some pretty severe patterns of excess stressful beta waves, excess theta waves, and excess delta waves in my brain.

What's that mean, exactly? Basically, it suggests that I had some history of concussions and traumatic brain injury (which I indeed have had, in everything from football to mountain biking to kickboxing), as well as built-up deficits of attention, increased distractibility, limited sleep potential and less-than-optimal cognitive performance from life, travel, toxins, head injuries and beyond.

Two months after the scan, I hopped on a plane back to LA, and ventured back into the Peak Brain Institute for three days of intensive training to fix my brain, returning to Spokane with a briefcase packed with a laptop, electrodes, conducting gel, and everything I needed to use neurofeedback to fix my brain. The next three months I trained for 30 minutes every other day using a style of neurofeedback I can best describe as “meditation on steroids”. Mostly, my protocol involved flying a spaceship with my mind. Each time my brain subconsciously shifted into brainwave patterns considered to be unfavorable, the spaceship would stop flying and the music generated by the neurofeedback software would fade away, very much like a cognitive “slap on the wrist”.

So how exactly does neurofeedback work? Technically, it’s a non-invasive form of what is known in the medical industry as “central nervous system biofeedback”. It trains the brain to develop new resources by encouraging certain areas to raise or lower the amplitude and ratios of particular brainwaves. To a very large extent, and unlike peripheral biofeedback such as practicing a physical exercise like a handstand, neurofeedback is an entirely non-voluntary process in which you are shaping the brain giving the brain feedback only when it’s doing certain things. Professional clinicians report that about 90% of users notice a significant positive impact from this style of training, and it can be used for everything from decreasing anxiety and stress to inducing faster sleep onset to even resetting tolerance to marijuana and alcohol.

Neurofeedback training simply involves the placement of electrodes on the scalp, which produces a signal then picked up by an EEG amplifier. These signals are fed into software that then sends back to the user some form of visual and/or auditory “feedback” or reward. This reward stimulus is given when the brain produces desired brainwave changes in amplitude or frequency.

Unlike many books and magazines would have you to believe, this type of protocol is slightly risky, and not just something you download a free neurofeedback app to do. Neurofeedback is a powerful tool and every brain is different, so the single most crucial aspect of neurofeedback training is selecting the proper protocol. Although the QEEG provides crucial information about one person’s brain, the training plan itself needs to be adaptive and iterative, based upon how someone responds to the training, which is why it's important to have the entire testing and training process overseen by a neurofeedback practitioner. Heck, when I did my three months of training with the Peak Brain Institute, Dr. Hill and I were text and email buddies nearly every day.

Neurofeedback can produce side effects, although they are generally minor and short lasting – and also informative to a neurofeedback practitioner. If you get adverse effects, protocols can be adjusted to steer the brain in a different direction. But if you are training yourself with no supervision and no sense of what’s actually happening in your brain, you can easily produce negative side effects and if you keep doing it you can cause these negative effects to become permanent. So proceed with caution, but with the understanding that neurofeedback is one of the more powerful pieces of headgear that can be used to enhance or change your brain.

Even though it's pretty rare I scroll through many feeds on Instagram or elsewhere, I recently began following an interesting Instagram account. Titled "Ergogenic Health", it intrigued me with some very interesting content I hadn't seen before, including:

-A commonly known special fruit that enhances the effects of psychedelics...

-A simple free activity you can do anytime to lower cortisol by over 21%...

-How the way you brush your teeth may actually reduce intelligence...

-A very unique form of vitamin B1 called Thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide (TTFD) that increases exercise performance, motivation, mood and overall energy...

-How capsicum from peppers may lead to anxiety in some people...

-The little known "younger sister" of curcumin...

-And much more!

So recently, I was able to connect with the guy who runs that Instagram channel, along with a host of other intriguing, well-informed, and outside-the-box websites, along with a podcast. His name is Lucas Aoun, and he graciously agreed to take a nerdy deep dive into biohacking with me on this podcast episode.

Listener Q&A: What To Do About Cold Hands & Feet...28:10

Jason asks: Hey, Ben.  I'm 46 years old and I've got cold hands. They get worse in the winter time, but they're cool in the summer. Probably I'm thinking Raynaud's, but I don't want to claim that. I'm open to any feedback you have on maybe how to make it better, fix - physiology, neurology supplements, testing, breath work, etc. I'm open to all of it. Any help is much appreciated.

In my response, I recommend:

What's The Best Pre-Workout Formula?...38:37

Preston asks:What's up Ben Preston here, long time listener, constant applier of everything you talk about on podcasts and in Boundless. But when it comes right down to it, I'm still wanting to take a scoop of pre-workout (powder) dump it in the mixer, shake it up and go wrap it out with the bros at the gym. So what's the deal with pre-workout powder and how much stimulant should I be intaking on a daily basis. I'm going to the gym every day, but I'm using pre-workout three, four times a week. Love to hear your thoughts.

In my response, I recommend:  Should Teens Fast?...46:20

Rama asks: Hey, Ben, my name is Rama. I am 16 years old and I am curious how much fasting and intermittent fasting would you recommend for a teenager like me to avoid or even improve my running performance and also how much is too much exercise for my health. Thank you very much. Love you, Ben.

I first met Doug Wolkon when I was visiting Kauai and was convinced by big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton to go visit a favorite local farm of his called Kauai Farmacy. I was immediately blown away by the vast array of over 80 varieties of organic healing plants and food orchards...

...along with a team of incredibly knowledgeable herbalists and gardeners; a closed-loop vermiculture feeding system (worm compost farm), honeybees, butterflies, and other pollinators; wildfowl; environmentally-compatible farming (water-catchments, permaculture guilds, and more); and medicine-making systems (solar-dehydrators, low-temperature herb-curing, herbal teas, tinctures, hydrosols, salves, honey, capsules, and more).

Everything is done by hand at the Farmacy, including brewing homemade fertilizers from the plants they grow. They seed, propagate, plant, hand-harvest, artisanally-craft, and package all the herbal products they grow right on the farm. The fresh and pure nature of the herbs ensures high quality, potent, consistent, and effective plant medicine straight from the source.

Since that visit two years ago, if you've been following me on Instagram and elsewhere, you've seen me using ample amounts of Kauai Farmacy powders and tinctures in my recipes, along with products such as their salves and hydrosols for joint and skin health. Rooted in the wisdom of Hawaiian La’au lapa’au, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, and the tribal indigenous, the potent herbal plant medicines harvested from the rich, volcanic soil of Kauai just seem to have a very unique and special energy.

After graduating from the University of Michigan, Doug pursued a ten-year career in private equity finance in Connecticut. Before moving his family to Hawaii in 2007, Doug published The New Game, an economic theory and strategy for sustainable communities.

Doug co-founded Kauai Farmacy in 2010 with his wife Genna, and they currently live there with their three kids. The Farmacy is a seed-to-cup tropical herbal oasis spanning four acres and consisting of what may be the most diverse collection of plant medicine in the western hemisphere.

After spending the last 10 years experiencing the power of fresh plant medicine for both himself and his family on a daily basis, Doug thrives on a high-fat, ketogenic, 100% raw-food diet. Doug believes Kauai Farmacy's vertically-integrated herbal medicine model is a budding example of what needs to be the future of a more sustainable, preventative-care-focused healthcare industry.

So, who is Joel Greene, exactly?

To put it simply, he's a man who had his 10,000 hours in before I was even born.

  • In the 1970s, he was interval training.
  • In 1979, he was doing Olympic lifts for three hours every night.
  • In the 80s, he began studying MCTs.
  • In 1990, he began studying the keto diet.
  • In the early 90s, he was doing what would be called intermittent fasting today.
  • In the mid 90s, he experienced the rebound from chronic starvation.
  • In the late 90s, he went through his clean eating phase, his macro phase, and his ancestral diet phase.
  • By 2001, he had his first nutrition website publishing cutting edge research.
  • By 2006, he came to the end of all the above and discovered none of it worked over time and under real-life pressure.
  • In 2007, he authored the first article for the health and fitness community based on the new science linking gut bacteria and obesity.
  • In 2008, his website lookcut.com hit #2 on Google for weight loss—with over 1,000 original groundbreaking articles that today represent many of the most widely copied ideas in nutrition.
  • In 2009, he launched the world's first diet system based on targeting gut bacteria.
  • In 2010, he was implementing signal activation of the AMPK pathway. The gurus only began speaking to AMPK in 2017.
  • By 2013, he had the world's largest body of anecdotal outcomes for body composition targeting the gut bacteria.
  • In 2013, he published the first article to the health and fitness community on the dangers of MCT oil supplementation.

Today—at 53, on 1 workout a week, eating whatever, whenever, with no drugs, SARMS, prohormones, or ergogenic aids ever—he is the world leader in hacking the body. He is the real deal. He has done it longer and has always been far ahead. He looks it, he lives it. What the gurus say is impossible, he was living every day before they were gurus.

He has hacked peak human…

Working out once per week…

Eating whatever, whenever…

…and does it all on fast food!

He is the future of real-world health and nutrition, today.

Joel is the creator of the VEEP Nutrition System, the world's first commercially available program based on targeting gut communities to effect biomarkers. He is a featured author, speaker, and guest in top tier publications such as Muscle and Fitness24 Hour Fitness Digital MagazineCBS OnlineSuperhuman Radio, and beyond. His system has also been featured on the Dr. Phil Show, where it has delivered astounding life-changing results.

He is the future of real-world health and nutrition—today, and his new book was one of the most nitty-gritty deep dives into “rebooting your body” that I've ever read. The Immunity Code is simply a new paradigm and an entirely new way to think about caring for your body. The new goal is learning to control immunity, health, and aging using new science-based techniques (or hacks, if you will) to steer immunity for health and to slow, or even reverse, aging.

This book will change everything you know about your body. Starting with simple easy to-dos that build one on top of the other, you will emerge with a powerful understanding of how your body really works and how to control it over time, in the real world. Simply put, you will jump 10 years ahead of anything else on the shelf today.

In this episode, you'll discover: -Crohn's disease and the carnivore diet...7:05
  • The Carnivore Code podcast about Crohn's disease
  • The Truth About The Carnivore Diet: Everything You Need To Know About Dangers, Benefits, Mistakes & Hacks For Eating Only Meat, With Dr. Paul Saladino.
  • Going purely plant-based may show short-term benefit, but long-term harm
  • What will heal the gut?
  • Oil and gas in the engine: the order in which it is added is essential
  • Structure-function of the gut:
    • Essential foods based on how the gut works
    • Diet that's high in fish and fiber may be the most beneficial
    • High meat and omega 6 fats may increase susceptibility to Crohn's disease
  • Gut and colon exist in a state of extreme oxidative stress (normal for the colon)
  • The colon is where most digestion takes place
    • Butyrate is the primary fuel of colonocytes, the cells lining the colon
    • When you use the saccharolytic pathway to fiber, you get antioxidants and short-chain fatty acids (SCFA)
    • When you use amino acids to make butyrate, you get short SCFAs and ammonia
  • When the right bacteria in place is given fiber, you get:
    • Optimal amounts of butyrate
    • Moderate amounts of propionate and acetate
  • Fatty liver a result of too much acetate
  • Macrophages in the colon are adapted to ignore inflammatory signals like interleukin 1β (IL-1β)
    • Antioxidants maintain this colonic homeostasis
  • When the colon is deprived of antioxidants...
    • Ascorbate levels in the colonic walls go down
    • Inflammatory mediators like tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) is elevated, shutting off butyrate transport (gut can't make use of butyrate)
  • Crohn's disease is characterized by...
    • A loss of butyrate-producing species of bacteria
    • A gain of methane-producing species of bacteria
  • Butyrate is also made from amino acids and other proteins
  • Butyrate from amino acids gives:
    • SCFAs
    • Ammonia
  • Sustained production of ammonia gives cancer-promoting alkylated carbonyls
    • Higher alkalinity in the colon will lead to cancer
  • Fiber and plants are the optimal way to feed the colon
  • Long term production of butyrate from sources other than fiber gives you...
    • A lack of antioxidants
    • Ammonia
    • SCFA imbalances
  • Lower gut is fed by plants
  • Upper gut is fed by animal foods
    • Animal proteins are the best source of amino acids
    • Amino acids with niacin (also abundant in meat) are beneficial for the gut
-Diet strategies for improving mental health...17:50
  • Studies done on mice are limited in their efficacy to treat humans' mental health
  • Changes in gut biome give a bump in energy, but not big differences in mood
  • Reductions in body fat and improvements in metabolism are correlated with improved mood, ameliorating depression
  • Research project headed by Dr. Ryan D'Arcy, a type of "FitBit or Oura Ring for the brain" (wearable for the brain)
    • Maps and measures the impact of various specific indices of cognitive performance such as mood, depression, recall, etc.
    • Measures how changes in the gut biome can affect mood, depression, energy, etc.
-Raw beans and toxic lectins...24:00
  • Cook then cool down beans
  • Not all lectins are toxic; many have large health benefits
    • Chick pea lectins inhibit breast cancer
    • Banana lectins can slow the growth of liver cancer

Listener Q&A: Is Nut Oil & Fish Oil Oxidized, Rancid Or Bad For You?...25:22

Grace from Australia asks: I've been hearing a lot about the dangers of polyunsaturated fats lately, particularly in regards to how they oxidize easily, which could create cellular damage. Does this mean I should avoid regular consumption of nuts and fatty fish? I know that in nuts, the antioxidant properties of vitamin E could offset this oxidative damage, but vitamin E is also susceptible to light and heat.

In my response, I recommend: Can You Get Benefits From Sunlight In The Winter?...41:00

Taylor asks: I wanted to start by saying your podcast is absolutely incredible and it has changed the way that I view health and longevity. My question for you today is regarding sunlight. I live in the Midwest and typically in late October is when the UVB starts to decline. However, I was wondering if there is still benefit to getting out in the light, even without a shirt on. I know that sounds crazy in the winter months, but please let me know what your thoughts are on this, and thank you so much.
