Peter waffles for 30 minutes about ignoring the gossip/lifestyle magazines when it comes to health advice. An example being this article about protein deficiency in "Stylist" magazine.
It's nothing against the magazines as such, they just don't really know how to source geniune experts as the above article shows.

He also elaborates on the problem of titles in the Health and Fitness industry;  "Holistic nutritionist, Nutritional Expert, Personal Trainer, Post-Natal Fitness Specialist" etc. etc. These titles don't mean anything and that's a real problem.

And then we go back to proper post-natal stuff as he goes over some benefits of Post-Natal massage (Remember we have a Facebook competition on this week) AND we're talking food hangovers!

Peter waffles his way through another 30 minute episode.

We're talking the principle of the 5-second rule of dropped food and how that should not apply to taking a holiday during a pandemic or when you should start to exercise and eat healthy.

And the importance of core training for athletes. Training the core is quite often overlooked by pro athletes, including top level football players. Peter will tell you the story of a former top-level talent who lost his career because he never did any core specific training.
If you always ignore your core in a gym, you will pay the price at some stage of your life..this is no different for professionals.

And he touches on why you should start training as soon as you find out you're pregnant.

Peter waffles his way through another great 30 minute episode.

He talks about being a hypocrite, and why the 3 months free programming offer might come to an end next month. What to REALLY do to support small business.

The "all or nothing mentality" that works against him.

He also explains why 10 minutes of targeted exercise per day ONLY works for rehab style exercise and is useless for weightloss/over-all health.

AND the importance of building a little winning streak.

Peter waffles his way through tonight's episode wondering about the "shopping trolley problem". He would argue that decent people return a trolley rather than abandon it.

So we're talking about doing the right thing because it's the right thing. Wearing a mask, not being a racist etc. etc.

He also talks about the biggest problem with the "80-20 rule" when it comes to "clean eating". You can not get results if you do the wrong thing 20% of the time.

Peter waffles his way through 3 Diastasis Recti related questions and myths.

The 2 myths;

1; "Certain Exercises are unsafe when you have Diastasis Recti". Are they though, are they really? Can you use weighted hulahoops, do crunches, planks etc.?

2; "Doming of the stomach is always Diastasis Recti"

And we answer the big question we were asked; "Why is there only help available at the early stages of Diastasis Recti recovery?"

Peter waffles for a solid 25 minutes going on about why it's important to ask the right expert for advice.

In his example; If you're paying your PT for weightloss advice you're wasting your money as most PTs are idiots when it comes to weightloss.

He also shows you how to spend your money more efficiently if weightloss is your goal.

And we have some VERY EXCITING things coming up at HPNB HQ, with some ridiculous competitions, which you'll hear more about over the next few weeks.

Peter is not in the best of moods as his Nr1 kitten hasn't been home for a few days but he has found the time to waffle about Anterior Pelvic Tilt. Did you know 75% of ALL women suffer from this??

Quite often women think they have Diastasis Recti but it's actually something else.

Yes, you can have the domed stomach and "the mum tum" without having Diastasis Recti. So what causes it and how can you fix it? And Peter explains why we ALWAYS tackle Anterior Pelvic Tilt in the HPNB program.

Peter waffles on about the importance of form and Range of Motion when exercising. He argues that personal trainers tend to care too much about form, that they don't pay enough attention to how an individual's body moves naturally and that there should be more focus on range of motion and time under tension.

He also briefly talks about the problem with BMI and BAME people in this BBC article. He argues that the problem isn't necessarily that people of colour, including Latin-American, are not included in BMI research but that BMI completely ignores bodytypes. This, means that, when it comes to approving medical operations, it is nowhere near an accurate enough stand-alone measurement. So the problem here isn't really a White/Non-white thing, the problem is more with the measurement itsself.

The NHS is letting mums down

Peter waffles on about the state of the NHS and how badly it's letting mothers down.

It's simply disgraceful how far behind other countries the UKs health service is when it comes to post-natal care. As always, the baby is well taken care of but the mother is mainly kept alive and seen as a vessel for the newborn (and a supplier of food thereafter).

Did you know in France women get 10 physio appointments after giving birth?

In Germany you get a daily visit from the midwife for 10 days and, in many cases, a midwife will hold exercise classes to help the pelvic floor recover. These are covered by the health insurance.

Of course the US is terrible as well, but that's a rather low bar to set.

Listen to this episode of the podcast and find out what the problems are and what he thinks the solution should be.

Peter waffles on about the time people spend on Social Media. Do you think you know how much time the average person spends on social media? 30 minutes? 45, an hour? What if I told you it's a lot more than that.

He wonders if there might be a better way to spend your time and how to go about limiting your time on social media so that it becomes a more positive experience. He also shares some tips from his most successful clients (including one with a very large online following) with regards to how they manage their life, prioritise things etc. What are their Do's and Don't s with regards to social media?

Being your own worst enemy

Peter waffles on asking why we keep undermining ourselves all the time. Arguing over breastfeeding in public, we keeping shopping at big chains and then complain when the little mom-and-pop shop goes out of business etc.. This carries on into post-natal health when the important is ignored for the trivial. We spend too much time arguing over issues that have mainly been dealt with and that means we don't have a discussion about new, and more important, things.

He also touches on where support forums are useful, and where they fail, and how to stop the dreaded bloat!

Peter waffles about the level of effort required for you to get the results you want.

It's probably higher than the fitness industry, and weightloss industry, wants you to believe and they're doing that deliberately. The problem is that it sets unrealistic expectations and sets you up to fail. In fact, the health and fitness (and weightloss) industry is built around you failing.

This podcast is well worth a listen.

Peter waffles about the Ariel "How to pod" commercial. He hates it with a passion until he realises the life-lesson it contains! This is a must listen if ever there was one.

He also touches on expectations again after getting an email from someone who has been working with a PT for 6 months and is not happy about the results.

Quote for the week "Saying you're not training during the lockdown because you can't get to the gym is like saying your kids not studying because schools are shut."

The level of effort and sacrifice required to get to that very top is usually significantly more than people think it is.

He also makes the point that GPs might want to lay off the weightloss "advice" during the 6 week check-up. It would be much more useful to inform obese women that they have Diastasis Recti and there are exercises that will help heal that.

Peter waffles about one of the most interesting questions he's been asked in ages; Is being classed as obese, at 8 weeks post-natal, a problem with Covid-19?? After all, obesity is a real factor when looking at the severity of Covid-19.

It's a superb question and definitely has an answer worth listening to.

We also touch on meal-times and if it matters when you eat.

The 6 week check up is a waste of time

27 min

Send us Fan Mail

Peter waffles about the 6 week check-up. Why is it a postcode lottery? Why is it not standardised? Why is that the only check-up you get? And why, why, why Delilah?

There's also a brief mention for NCT's post-natal advice for women but MORE IMPORTANTLY;

Which charity do you think Peter should donate 10% of the Amazon kick-back to?

It's a choice of 2;

The Women's Equality Party

or

And we're talking about the importance of an expert being an expert on what they're commenting on before it's worth listening to them. Confused yet?

Look for the real solutions

Peter waffles his way through 30 minutes touching on the subject of "how to look for the real solution to a problem". There's no point in paving over the cracks when, with a bit of effort, you can resolve the problem completely. Peter waffles his way through some myths about C-section recovery. He talks about scar tissue recovery and massage

(Video here on how to perform the massage).

When can you start exercising after a C-section? No, REALLY, when can you start exercising?

That takes a solid 15-20 minutes and then he waffles, and I mean really waffles, about the NHS, COVID-19 and the importance of listening to experts. Oh, and would it be beneficial for you guys to just get 3 months free as standard or does that not really change the price of fish?
